It’s Wednesday, July 24th, 2013…and here’s The Gouge!

Our top story today, a must-see video, courtesy of Bill Meisen and The O’Reilly Factor:

We generally hold O’Reilly to be no factor at all; his pusillanimous pseudo-nonpartisanship frankly incenses us.  But here he makes sense, though we still disagree on two points.  First, the President’s comments weren’t “correct”; they were inflammatory and counterproductive, at least for someone ostensibly tasked with promoting the general welfare.

Second, the entire Liberal elite, be it The Obamao, the Reverends, the MSM or any other Leftist with half a brain (i.e., the rest of them), knows the causes behind the decimation of the Black “community”.  They simply don’t want address them; because enacting effective solutions means change for the better.  Change for the better diminishes their power and cash flow; and power and money wrung from the sweat and suffering of others is what the Liberal elite is all about.

Case in point, courtesy of the New York Post via Drudge:

Hammer-wielding thugs attack two men just blocks apart in Harlem

It’s Hammer Time!

Two men were attacked blocks apart in Harlem early yesterday by a hammer-wielding gang of thugs, police sources said.

The first victim of the seemingly random violence, Timmie Sampson, 31, was hit in the head with a hammer outside 1370 Fifth Ave., at East 115th Street, at about 12:45 a.m. Sources said he was set upon by a gang of five or six black males wearing white T-shirts, and that at least one of the goons struck him over the head with a hammer.

Sampson’s girlfriend was with him at the time and took off her shirt to help stem the bleeding, sources said. She then put him in a cab, and he was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, in stable condition, a neighborhood source said.

MALICIOUS MALLET: Police recover a hammer used in two attacks just blocks apart in Harlem yesterday.

At about 1:05 a.m., Daniel Legette, 24, was hit in the head with a hammer a few blocks away on Lenox Avenue and West 110th Street, sources said. He was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital with head trauma, they added.

It does not appear the attackers knew their victims, and the motive remains unknown, the sources said.

Yeah…

yeahright

We won’t hold our breath waiting for Der Obafuhrer or Erin-go-Braun to interrupt their umpteenth Martha’s Vineyard vacation, or forego the opportunity to address a racist/separatist group like La Raza to demonstrate solidarity with the victims of a gang of Black thugs.  After all, to address the issue, they’d have to admit such as thing as “a gang of Black thugs” could exist in the first place.

Speaking of the dregs of society, as the New York Times via Drudge reports…

Weiner to Stay in Mayor’s Race as New Allegations Emerge

Anthony Weiner Holds Press Conference As New Sexting Evidence Emerges

“Is that a pencil in your pocket or are you sexting someone?”

A new scandal involving raunchy online messages engulfed Anthony D. Weiner, imperiling an improbable political comeback that had catapulted him to the top of the New York City mayor’s race. Mr. Weiner, who left Congress amid revelations that he had engaged in a pattern of reckless online conduct, acknowledged during a hastily arranged news conference that the behavior had continued even after his resignation.

Mr. Weiner stood side by side with his wife Huma Abedin, as the two spoke in unusual detail of how the scandal has affected their very public marriage. “I said that other texts and photos were likely to come out and today they have,” Weiner said. “I want to again say that I am very sorry to anyone who was on the receiving end of these messages and the disruption this has caused.”

Emphasizing his commitment to remain in the mayoral race, Mr. Weiner said, “I want to bring my vision to the people of the city of New York. I hope they are willing to still continue to give me a second chance.”

Two thoughts: (1) talk about a citizenry just itchin‘ to be ruled by the lowest common denominator; (2) if, as Walter Pigeon so famously said in Forbidden Planet, man cannot look upon the face of the Gorgon and live, we’re relatively certain any vision of Anthony Weiner’s falls into the same category.

If New Yorkers elect this putz, they’ll truly be getting the government they deserve.

And since we’re on the subject of getting the government one deserves, courtesy of Townhall.com, Kurt Schlichter suggests…

Conservatives Should Point and Laugh as Detroit Dies

The agonizing death of Detroit is cause for celebration. It’s the first of the liberal-run big cities and states to fall, and we should welcome its collapse with glee. Yeah, liberals, eventually you do run out of other people’s money.

The blue state model is a terminal disease, and Detroit is its poster child. Only this is one telethon where we should pledge that we won’t pay a single dime to keep the progressive party going a single minute longer.

Detroit represents the epitome of the blue state, Democrat machine liberalism that Barack Obama represents. Well, not one damn cent for Barry’s Kids. Liberal media mouthpieces like the New York Times are all in a tizzy because the consequences conservatives have been warning America about for years are finally arriving. “We have to step in and save Detroit,” it cries. We don’t have to do any such thing.

Steven Rattner, writing in the Times, says “But apart from voting in elections, the 700,000 remaining residents of the Motor City are no more responsible for Detroit’s problems than were the victims of Hurricane Sandy for theirs, and eventually Congress decided to help them.” And apart from the iceberg, the Titanic’s maiden voyage went swimmingly. This is a problem created by the people of Detroit. It’s their problem to solve – without our money.

If you listen to the hand-wringers, you’ll never hear an honest examination of why Detroit is imploding. Nor do they offer any evidence that the half-wits who elected the quarter-wit Democrats governing them have learned anything at all from this trip to the precipice. (Face it; all those with any sense at all left decades ago.)

The most hilarious arguments are the ones where liberals whine about the middle class fleeing from the city, taking jobs and the tax base with them. Sure, regular folks took a look at the well-governed, stable, crime-free Utopia that was Detroit and thought, “Yeah, we need to get the hell out of here.” Liberalism and the political, economic and social pathologies it spawned drove everyone out of Detroit who wasn’t feeding at the municipal trough, whether through some form of government job or some form of government handout.

This isn’t a chicken and the egg brainteaser. It’s simple cause and effect. Liberalism turned Detroit into a hideous dump that milked those who contribute to society to pay off the Democrat machine’s constituents who don’t. People didn’t feel like living in a pig sty while serving as piggy banks for corrupt Democrats. The productive decided that while the non-productive might win by voting at the ballot box, the productive would win by voting with their feet.

Yeah, Detroit had some hard knocks. The auto industry collapsed, which is not surprising since it was the blue state model in corporatist form. But every city takes hits. Dallas and Houston have been slammed again and again by the energy sector, and they keep coming back.

Union_Poster_Detroit_Utopia

Not Detroit. It keeps milking the “GM went bye-bye” excuse, with its apologists never mentioning that GM didn’t just disappear. GM just went to places that didn’t suck.

What did Detroit do about it? Nothing. The auto industry started changing decades ago, but liberals act as if that change somehow excuses Detroit’s legacy of corruption and incompetence. Detroit’s most significant export in decades was Eminem. That’s reason enough to want to see a stake driven through its metaphorical heart.

But, of course it’s all the Republicans’ fault…for some reason. Rattner says, “If I thought it could pass Congress, I’d happily support a special appropriation, but the politics of any spending are toxic in Washington these days.” Yeah, it is toxic to suggest that those of us who didn’t vote in a succession of criminals to run our governments give our money to morons who did. And, in any sane universe, no one would ever suggest doing so.

But this is the Times, the voice of Big Liberalism. It opines that, “America is just as much about aiding those less fortunate as it is about personal responsibility.” Except, America isn’t about “aiding the less fortunate.” It’s about the “less fortunate” working to make themselves “more fortunate” – understanding that liberals think people become financially stable not through hard work but by dumb luck.

Ad7dt

Not surprisingly, in a Times article referring to the miserable condition of a city run by a liberal Democrat machine for half a century, there is no mention of either liberalism or Democrats. That’s like writing about obesity and not mentioning food.

The liberal elite, which loves root causes, absolutely refuses to admit that the root cause of Detroit’s woes is liberalism itself. Liberals are like a drunk who wants the benefits of sobriety while continuing to hoist highballs. Step One is admitting that their ideology has a problem. Fat chance. For liberalism, the answer is “5,” and it’s the “2 + 2” that’s somehow screwed up.

We conservatives should sit back and giggle as liberalism hits bottom. No, Detroit’s collapse won’t teach liberals anything. The big cities and the blue states will fail no matter what. Liberalism is the locust of political ideologies; it will eat everything in sight and then starve.

But Detroit may serve a useful purpose once again as a cautionary example for future generations, so for that reason as well we should welcome its passing. And as it dies, the last words ringing in its ears should be the voices of laughing conservatives saying, “We told you so.”

We disagree with Schlichter on only one point; America is about helping the less fortunate.  But any such aid assumes, or at least used to assume, those receiving it made at least a minimal effort to help and better themselves.  As we’ve mentioned many times before, the early Christian church shared and shared alike, as Acts 4:32 details:

All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of their possessions was their own, but they shared everything they had.”

Yet, as Paul cites in II Thessalonians 3:10, sharing the fruits was based on the understanding everyone shared in the labor:

For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: ‘The one who is unwilling to work shall not eat.’”

Paul knew all about sloth!  Even the Pilgrims made the effort to share the wealth; for one harvest…which was all the time and experience they needed to learn one of the basics of human nature.

What finally upset the societal apple cart was Liberals promising a share of the harvest without any requirement to toil in the fields, all in the name of purely personal profit…political and pecuniary.  Progressives sowed the wind; and in the destruction not only of Detroit, but every other inner city, it’s the Black “community” reaping their whirlwind.

That Blacks keep coming back for more ranks as one of life’s great mysteries.

Random Thoughts on the Passing Scene

Random thoughts from wise thinkers:

“We shall not grow wiser before we learn that much that we have done was very foolish.” (F.A. Hayek)

“Many respectable writers agree that if a man reasonably believes that he is in immediate danger of death or grievous bodily harm from his assailant he may stand his ground and that if he kills him he has not exceeded the bounds of lawful self-defense. That has been the decision of this court.” (Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes, Brown v. United States, 1921)

“Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passions, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence.” (John Adams)

“A human group transforms itself into a crowd when it suddenly responds to a suggestion rather than to reasoning, to an image rather than an idea, to an affirmation rather than to proof, to the repetition of a phrase rather than to arguments, to prestige rather than to competence.” (Jean-Francois Revel)

“The first thing a man will do for his ideals is lie.” (J.A. Schumpeter)

“Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don’t mean to do harm — but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves.” (T.S. Eliot)

“The study of human institutions is always a search for the most tolerable imperfections.” (Richard A. Epstein)

“There is no safety for honest men, but by believing all possible evil of evil men, and by acting with promptitude, decision, and steadiness on that belief.” (Edmund Burke)

“We do not live in the past, but the past in us.” (U.B. Phillips)

“It will be of little avail to the people, that the laws are made by men of their own choice, if the laws be so voluminous that they cannot be read, or so incoherent that they cannot be understood; if they be repealed or revised before they are promulgated, or undergo such incessant changes that no man, who knows what the law is today, can guess what it will be to-morrow.” (James Madison)

“A society that puts equality — in the sense of equality of outcome — ahead of freedom will end up with neither equality nor freedom. The use of force to achieve equality will destroy freedom, and the force, introduced for good purposes, will end up in the hands of people who use it to promote their own interests.” (Milton Friedman)

“…leniency toward criminals contrasted starkly with severity toward the law-abiding citizen’s right to defend himself or herself.” (Joyce Lee Malcolm)

“A government with all this mass of favours to give or to withhold, however free in name, wields a power of bribery scarcely surpassed by an avowed autocracy, rendering it master of the elections in almost any circumstances but those of rare and extraordinary public excitement.” (John Stuart Mill)

“Criticism is easy; achievement is more difficult.” (Winston Churchill)

“Everybody has asked the question … ‘What shall we do with the Negro?’ I have had but one answer from the beginning. Do nothing with us! Your doing with us has already played the mischief with us. Do nothing with us!” (Frederick Douglass)

“The study of history is a powerful antidote to contemporary arrogance. It is humbling to discover how many of our glib assumptions, which seem to us novel and plausible, have been tested before, not once but many times and in innumerable guises; and discovered to be, at great human cost, wholly false.” (Paul Johnson)

“It is difficult for men in high office to avoid the malady of self-delusion. They are always surrounded by worshipers. They are constantly, and for the most part sincerely, assured of their greatness. They live in an artificial atmosphere of adulation and exaltation which sooner or later impairs their judgment. They are in grave danger of becoming careless and arrogant.” (President Calvin Coolidge)

And in today’s Money Quote, courtesy of James Taranto, Feminazi Kezia Willingham offers the Dimocratic definition of “independence”:

I was a single mom for 10 long years. During that decade I relied on welfare, housing assistance, and food stamps to help me support my daughter while I earned both bachelor’s and master’s degreesI was an independent woman

13-year-old girl raped by more than a dozen illegal aliens in Texas

58ac4a096d3f5eb3d361892978c29998

On Wednesday, police in Austin arrested two Mexican nationals who reportedly participated in the gang-rape of a 13-year-old girl on June 29. The girl, a runaway, who lives at the Settlement Home for Children, was picked up by three Latino men and driven to the Avalon Arms apartments, where she was raped by a large group of men for several hours, according to police.

As many as 13 men took turns sexually assaulting the girl. Many cheered and filmed the sickening crime on their cell phones, according to court documents.

Juan Lozano Ortega, 25, and Edgar Gerardo Guzman Perez, 26, have been charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child. Both are currently being held in the Travis County Jail on immigration detainers.

We left a message with Marco Rubio’s office asking whether gang rape constitutes cause for deportation under his Open Borders Bill, but we’ve yet to receive a response.  Rumors the perps were yelling “Viva Obama!” and “Viva Amnestia!” remain unconfirmed.

We have just one word for such scum:
