It’s Saturday, September 28th, 2013…and here’s a quick weekend edition of The Gouge, occasioned by the latest trumped-up, meaningless achievement from an Administration which has nothing else to offer:

Obama holds historic phone call with Rouhani and hints at end to sanctions

President says discussion with Iranian counterpart showed ‘basis for resolution’ of dispute over Tehran’s nuclear programme

That’s great…except Rouhani’s not the guy running Iran; this is…

Ali Khameneimoderate

…a hard reality purposefully ignored by Neville Chamberbama…

9_232013_b4-bibacco-neville-8201_s160x242

…and his sycophantic MSM, both of whom would have America trust the word of a those ruled by a religion which not only officially condones but actively promotes lying to achieve a higher purpose; but readily acknowledged by those inimically opposed to our interests…

putin_ayatollah_khamenei

…and who continue to run rings around this most pathetic of Presidents.

And when he’s not otherwise occupied undermining American security overseas, The Obamao continues to operate under the Marxist doctrine which teaches the internal enemy is always the most dangerous:

Obama to Republicans: ‘I will not negotiate’

obama_red_line

“…I will not negotiate over Congress’ responsibility to pay the bills it has already racked up. I don’t know how to be more clear about this: no one gets to threaten the full faith and credit of the United States of America just to extract ideological concessions.”

But he’ll negotiate with Iran, Syria, North Korea, the Taliban and the KGB!  As Hope ‘n Change notes, maybe the GOP…

BoehnerTurban…needs a change in wardrobe!Any way you cut it, the more we suffer under the despotic dictates of the most divisive, deceptive, destructive politician in our nation’s history, the greater our realization impeachment isn’t enough:

And for those still so naive…or patently partisan…to believe the MSM isn’t totally in the tank for Barry, consider this revelation from The Weekly Standard:

NBC Launches Week of Programming to ‘Help’ Obamacare Succeed

propaganda 1

NBC announced today that it would be launching a week of programming to help Obamacare get off its feet, according to a press release sent out by the network. The law has been widely opposed by all Republicans and supported by most Democrats, including President Obama. The headline of the press release reads:

NBC News Launches “Ready or Not, the New Healthcare Law,” a Multi-Screen Experience to Help Americans Get the Most Out of the Affordable Care Act

Dr. Nancy Snyderman Answers Most Pressing Questions Across Social and Via New Video Series #AskDrNancy

Interactive Tools and Resources Help Audience Navigate New Healthcare Benefits and Marketplaces

The NBC release says it will help explain how to enroll in Obamacare, a service no doubt to President Obama who has himself been barnstorming the country to try to boost enrollment in the program.

“The Affordable Care Act goes into effect on October 1st, but what does this mean for you and your family? During the week of September 30th, NBC News will devote special coverage across all of its platforms to ‘Ready or Not, the New Healthcare Law,’ an extensive series aimed at explaining the complexities of the ACA and its impact on consumers. Coverage will span multiple screens – on air, across digital and through social media, and also provide users with interactive tools and resources, available on NBCNews.com/Healthcare, to help shed light on what the healthcare act means for them and explain how to enroll,” reads the release.

Any questions?!?

Meanwhile, we’ve yet to hear one Republican leader in the House suggest continued funding of the Unaffordable Care Act be tied to an ironclad requirement for everyone in the White House, SCOTUS and Congress to endure its benefits with the rest of the country, a move that would not only force the Dims hand in the current CR conflict, but give the GOP a definitive edge in future ObamaScare negotiations.

Are they’re simply not bright enough to see it…

blazing-saddles-mccain-obama

…(quite possible!), or do they hold their own continued access to quality healthcare more important than the average American’s?  Either way, it’s proof positive the Tea Party’s work has only just begun.

Turning to the “It Couldn’t Happen to a Nicer Person” segment, The Washington Times reports…

No communion for Nancy Pelosi: Vatican court head

nancy-pelosi1

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi has no Catholic right to be granted Communion, said the leading cardinal of the highest court at the Vatican. Mrs. Pelosi should be denied Communion until she changes her advocacy views on abortion, Cardinal Raymond Leo Burke said, in an interview with The Wanderer reported by the Western Center for Journalism.

That’s canon law, not opinion, he said. Canon 915 states that Catholics who are stubbornly contrary “in manifest grave sin are not to be admitted to Holy Communion.” And Cardinal Burke said Mrs. Pelosi fits the definition. “Certainly this is a case when Canon 915 must be applied,” he said, the Western Center for Journalism reported. “This is a person who obstinately, after repeated admonitions, persists in a grave sin — cooperating with the crime of procured abortion — and still professes to be a devout Catholic.”

The cardinal also said that Mrs. Pelosi is a perfect example of Catholics who separate their faith from day-to-day living. “This is a prime example of what Blessed John Paul II referred to as the situation of Catholics who have divorced their faith from their public life and therefore are not serving their brothers and sisters in the way that they must — in safeguarding and promoting the life of the innocent and defenseless unborn, in safeguarding and promoting the integrity of marriage and the family,” he said.

The cardinal, an American, is the prefect of the Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signatura in Rome, Life News reported.

In other words, from the Roman Catholic perspective, Nancy’s on the express…

As Christ Himself said in Mark 8:36, what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?

Profiling: For Whites Only

5

Don Terry of the Southern Poverty Law Center reports on a “hate crime” in New York City, under the headline: “Columbia University Professor, a Sikh Physician, Injured in Teen Mob Attack.” Here’s the post’s first paragraph:

Shortly after a white supremacist stormed into a Sikh temple in Wisconsin and killed six worshipers last year, Dr. Prabhjot Singh, a Sikh-American physician and assistant professor of international affairs at Columbia University, co-wrote a column for The New York Times noting the “long history of discrimination and hatred directed at Sikhs in America.”

So were Singh’s attackers also white supremacists? One might suspect the answer is no, given that the next paragraph notes that the attack on him occurred “on the edge of Harlem.” But we don’t get a clear answer until the eighth paragraph:

The band of teenagers was reported to be mostly black, but Amardeep Singh [program director at the Sikh Coalition] said that both the Sikh Coalition and “the victim”–Dr. Singh–declined to answer questions about the race of the attackers.

“It’s not helpful,” Amardeep Singh told Hatewatch. “We don’t think it’s helpful in reducing racial tensions. We’re trying to get the country to live up to its best values. We’re a community that is profiled. There’s no reason for us to profile anyone.”

Other than whitesupremacists, that is.

And in today’s Environmental Moment, James Taranto describes the reality behind the latest IPCC “report” on anthropogenic global warming:

It’s a Cooked Book

Global warmism and the antiscientific method.

thumb_Cartoon_-_Climate_Science

In the first five paragraphs of a recent dispatch from Stockholm, the Associated Press–in our estimation unwittingly, for the most part–exposes the deep corruption of the “global warming” enterprise:

Scientists working on a landmark U.N. report on climate change are struggling to explain why global warming appears to have slowed down in the past 15 years even though greenhouse gas emissions keep rising.

Leaked documents obtained by The Associated Press show there are deep concerns among governments over how to address the issue ahead of next week’s meeting of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.

Climate skeptics have used the lull in surface warming since 1998 to cast doubt on the scientific consensus that humans are cooking the planet by burning fossil fuels and cutting down CO2-absorbing forests.

The IPCC report is expected to affirm the human link with greater certainty than ever, but the panel is under pressure to also address the recent lower rate of warming, which scientists say is likely due to heat going deep into the ocean and natural climate fluctuations.

“I think to not address it would be a problem because then you basically have the denialists saying, ‘Look the IPCC is silent on this issue,’ ” said Alden Meyer, of the Washington-based Union of Concerned Scientists.

The first paragraph describes a scientific problem: a theory that has been put to an empirical test and found wantingIn the fourth paragraph, we get a passing discussion of alternative hypotheses. But this is presented as fundamentally a problem of political communication or public relations.

global warming hoax email

And these guys look shifty not just for scientists but for PR men. Specialists in crisis management emphasize the importance of building (or rebuilding) public trust by being both honest and forthcoming. But look at that Meyer quote. He’s not calling for forthrightness, just for some sort of statement so that critics–whom he disparages as “denialists”–can’t say the IPCC “is silent.”

The AP itself uses the term “climate skeptics,” which is less pointed than “denialists” but is still problematic. The purported opposition between “skeptics” and adherents to “the scientific consensus” is nonsensical, for skepticism is at the very heart of the scientific method. When the data call a theory into question, a scientist revisits the theory. Instead, the panel is employing the antiscientific method: It “is expected to affirm” the theory “with greater certainty than ever.”

cottingley-fairies_1466870c

And look how the AP sums up that theory: “that humans are cooking the planet by burning fossil fuels and cutting down CO2-absorbing forests.” That’s science fiction, not science. If Damon Knight were still with us, he might observe of the IPCC report: “It’s a cooked book.”

Meanwhile, a BBC story on the forthcoming report quotes this enthusiastic endorsement from Arthur Petersen, a Dutch climate scientist: “It is a major feat that we have been able to produce such a document which is such an adequate assessment of the science. That being said, it is virtually unreadable!”

Yeah…to the same degree the “science” is both unbelievable and indefensible.

Finally, we wrap up the weekend with another sordid story ripped from the pages of the Crime Blotter:

Cops: Teen pauses attack on 70-year-old man to celebrate

RomeoWilliams

Authorities say a 70-year-old man who was beaten in an unprovoked attack outside a convenience store in Syracuse has died of his injuries. Syracuse Police announced the death of James Gifford on Wednesday. Police say Gifford was seriously injured in the Saturday morning assault as he walked across the parking lot outside a 7-11 store.

Fowler (Great reporting: who the hell is Fowler?!?) says Williams hit Gifford in the face, knocking him unconscious. Police say Williams then entered the store and celebrated by taking off his hat and holding it up in the air and smiling before going back outside to beat and kick Gifford. Fowler says four men with Williams eventually pulled him off Gifford.

Police say the Onondaga County District Attorney’s office will determine any additional charges against Williams. Attempts to reach Williams’ lawyer were unsuccessful. Attorney James McGraw says he has represented Williams before but hasn’t been contacted by him about the assault charge. Two Syracuse teens were sentenced to prison earlier this year for their roles in the beating death of a 51-year-old man attacked at random.

Tell us again how guns are the problem?!?
