It’s Friday, May 2nd, 2014…and here’s The Gouge!

Leading off the last edition of the week, it’s the “Dude, it was like two years ago…and besides, what difference does it make?!?” segment, courtesy of the Washington Examiner‘s Mark Tapscott, who asks what inquiring minds should want to know:

The issue with Benghazi: Who told Hillary Clinton to blame the video?

606x404-4356323ac18d986100964e3ea348a1ab

…Clinton made the Obama administration’s first official comment on the attack six hours after it commenced and while it was continuing. The statement was headlined “Statement on the attack on Benghazi” and it contained this graph:

Some have sought to justify this vicious behavior as a response to inflammatory material posted on the Internet. The United States deplores any intentional effort to denigrate the religious beliefs of others. Our commitment to religious tolerance goes back to the very beginning of our nation. But let me be clear: There is never any justification for violent acts of this kind.”

RedState diarist “Streiff” suggests this morning that that statement late in the evening of Sept. 11 shows:

“There is no other conclusion to reach other than Hillary Clinton was the author of the lie about what caused the attack in Benghazi and she must be held accountable for that.”

Clinton will have her hands full trying to explain why any reasonable person would be wrong to reach the same conclusion

And since we’re on the subject of a reasonableness standard, Jonah Goldberg adds a humorous twist to the Administration’s ongoing efforts to deny what is as plain to anyone with half a brain as the ears on The Obamao’s head:

Carney actually seems shocked and, well, disappointed to the point of contemptuousness, when reporters won’t believe him. It’s like no one told him he doesn’t have Jedi mind tricks at his disposal.

Carney: These are not the droids you’re looking for, idiots.

Ed Henry, Fox News: But Jay, these look exactly like the droids we’ve been looking for. In fact, the serial numbers match.

Carney: Ed, I understand your network is deeply invested in finding a story here. But the simple fact is that these are in no way the droids you’re looking for. Move along.

Henry: One last follow-up, Jay. The golden droid on the right just said, “Excuse me sirs, but we are in fact exactly the droids you’ve been looking for. Thank goodness you found us.”

Carney: No, no they didn’t. And besides I used to be a journalist as you know and it’s common knowledge among real journalists [Carney winks to the non-Fox reporters in the room] that one should never believe what droids tell them.

Jonathan Karl, ABC: Jay, related question: Here is a photo of you from last month holding up a picture of these exact droids with the quote in the caption reading, ‘Carney vows the White House will not rest until these droids are found.’ Also, ABC News has obtained footage of you from this morning, hugging the two droids right there, with you saying ‘Thank Obama we found you!’ Can you explain that?

[Carney rolls his eyes and then desperately tries to telekinetically choke everyone in the room.]

Henry: Uh, Jay are you okay? Why are you squinting? What’s up with that hand gesture . . .

“I find your lack of faith disturbing!”

As Steve Hayes puts it at The Weekly Standard:

At the same time the White House was putting the video at the center of the Benghazi story, intelligence professionals and U.S. officials on the ground in Libya were describing a precise attack carried out by al Qaeda-affiliated terrorists. The Weekly Standard has learned that an analysis from the Defense Intelligence Agency produced a day before Rhodes sent his email assigned blame for the attacks to Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb and Ansar al Sharia Libya. The DIA analysis did not mention a video. It adds to the still-growing body of memos and warnings from top U.S. officials. The top U.S. intelligence official on the ground in Libya repeatedly told officials in Washington that the Benghazi attacks were part of a planned assault by al Qaeda-affiliated terrorists. The top diplomat in the country said the same thing. Last week, a top intelligence official for AFRICOM told Congress that he shared that view.

We are left with this reality: Top diplomats and intelligence officers in Libya offered assessments of the Benghazi attacks that were true when they made them and remain true today. But top Obama administration officials ignored those assessments. Six weeks before the 2012 presidential election, those officials — at the direction of White House communications and political strategists desperate to maintain the fiction that al Qaeda was “on the run”— lied to the public about how four Americans were killed in a sophisticated attack carried out, on the anniversary of 9/11, by terrorists affiliated with al Qaeda.

This wasn’t political spin, parsing or clever wordsmithing; it was deliberate deception, patent prevarication if you will. And anyone on who tries to define it differently is either lying or selling something…or both!

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, the nominal leader of The Gang Who Still Can’t Shoot Straight has at least finally managed to clear his holster:

And remember, the real crime here wasn’t the lies or even the cover-up, but the fact that for some 7 hours, the Commander-in-Chief was AWOL, and neither he nor his Secretary of State lifted a finger…

…while four Americans suffered agonizing deaths.

Politics aside, the families of these four deserve to know the truth about why their loved ones were sacrificed for one man’s political ambitions.

Speaking of Liberals willing to sacrifice others for their own selfish ambitions, here’s one for the books:

SEIU membership, revenues plummet after state ends ‘underhanded scheme’

SEIU Michigan (1)

They couldn’t get me a raise, they couldn’t get me more vacation time and they certainly did nothing to improve my children’s care. I’d hate to say it, but in my opinion, they were stealing.” – Patricia Haynes, mother of two children with cerebral palsy

A Michigan branch of the powerful Service Employees International Union saw its membership and revenues plummet after the reversal of a measure that forced caregivers tending to friends or relatives to be members with their dues paid by those they cared for.

More than 44,000 home-based healthcare workers parted ways with SEIU Healthcare Michigan after learning they did not have to join the union or pay dues, according to reports the union filed with the U.S. Department of Labor. Thousands of the employees were allegedly forced into the union under a plan the SEIU successfully lobbied for that classified even unpaid family members caring for their elderly parents as “home health care workers.” Dues were then automatically collected from the care recipients’ Medicare or Medicaid checks.

“Family members were told they were public employees,” Patrick Wright, director of the Mackinac Center Legal Foundation, a Michigan-based policy group, told FoxNews.com. “They are not public employees and this was not proper. “It was an underhanded scheme to get these people in [the union],” he added. (“Underhanded”?!?  The bastages should be shot!)

The measure, which counted the home healthcare recipient as an employer and the caregiver as an employee, was adopted during the administration of Demcratic Gov. Jennifer Granholm, but abolished by Republicans including current Gov. Rick Snyder, who was elected in 2012. His election coincided with the state’s vote to end forced unionization by approving a right-to-work ballot measure. Snyder subsequently signed a bill that ended the SEIU’s due collection scheme.

Media Matters employees try to unionize, but company executives aren’t so keen on the idea.

MMFA_logo_vector

A statement by an “organizing committee” of employees at the liberal watchdog group Media Matters, posted on the website of the Service Employees International Union Local 500 for Maryland and Washington, D.C., April 28:

Media Matters employees often write in defense of organized labor, and our work has demonstrated the virtues of organizing through card-check and the perils of being forced through a protracted NLRB election process. It is fitting, then, that we’ve chosen to unionize and attempt to lead our own lives by the principles we regularly advocate for in our work.

The actions of Media Matters executives have placed employees in the impossible position of continuing to produce content espousing pro-labor values for an employer who is challenging our right to unionize. Not only is management subjecting Media Matters employees to arduous NLRB procedures, the actions of their attorneys indicate Media Matters executives object so tenaciously to our union that they appear willing to prevent employees from ever having the opportunity to vote on the matter.

Many Media Matters employees feel betrayed by the unexpected and unexplained path our leadership has taken in response to our efforts to unionize. Our desire to organize should be not a controversial or surprising turn of events at a progressive organization like Media Matters for America. We continue to hold out hope that our executives will change course in favor of the path the organization has long advocated.

“Betrayed”?  By Liberals?  And they’re surprised?!?

Which brings us to today’s installment of Tales From the Darkside, and the latest on an organization which betrayed those it was organized to assist many decades ago:

NAACP: We Ignored Sterling’s Racism Because of ‘Large Donations’

Los-Angeles-NAACPjpgjpg

Roslyn M. Brock, the chairman of the Board of Directors of the NAACP, admitted the organization “overlooked” Clippers owner Donald Sterling’s racism because he made “large donations” to the Los Angeles branch and would be developing guidelines going forward for how awards are given in the future…

Yeah…until someone else like Sterling comes along with cash enough to make them once again forget their “principles”…assuming they had any to forget in the first place!

Turning from the unprincipled to the utterly unprincipled…

Dobson Tears Into Obama: ‘Come and Get Me’

Christian leader refuses to bow to ‘wicked regulations’ of ‘abortion president’

Genocide Awareness Project, Center for Bioethical Reform, Barack Obama, Abortion 6-thumb-500x225-6990

“I believe in the rule of law, and it has been my practice since I was in college to respect and honor those in authority over us. It is my desire to do so now. However, this assault on the sanctity of human life takes me where I cannot go. I WILL NOT pay the surcharge for abortion services. The amount of the surcharge is irrelevant. To pay one cent for the killing of babies is egregious to me, and I will do all I can to correct a government that lies to me about its intentions and then tries to coerce my acquiescence with extortion. It would be a violation of my most deeply held convictions to disobey what I consider to be the principles in Scripture. The Creator will not hold us guiltless if we turn a deaf ear to the cries of His innocent babies. So come and get me if you must, Mr. President. I will not bow before your wicked regulation.”

To which we can only add a hearty “AMEN”!
