It’s Thursday, July 10th, 2014…but two quick questions before we begin.  First, why would The Obamao need $3.7 billion additional dollars to combat a surge of illegal immigration he created and encouraged in the first place?  Like…what; if we give him more money he’ll finally enforce our immigration laws?!?

Second, why are tens of thousands of those who sacrificed their health and happiness in defense of their country unemployed and/or homeless, hundreds of others dead waiting for sub-standard medical treatment, but millions of illegals, including untold numbers of MS-13 gang-bangers from Honduras and El Salvador enjoy free housing, three squares and day an free healthcare?

You tell us, cuz we sure as hell don’t understand it!!!

Oh…and remember waaaay back…when our borders were secure?!?

Yeah…about the same time Al-Queda was on the run and the war in Iraq won!

Now, here’s The Gouge!

First up, as the latest installment of Hope ‘n Change recounts, yet another incredible coincidence the odds of which are likely higher than winning the Powerball lottery:

Judge Not

Judge Not

When it comes to putting one of the so-called Benghazi terrorist “masterminds” on trial, no one can question the importance of assigning the proceedings to an exceptionally well qualified judge with a long and solid track record on the bench. Of course, that’s only if you want a conviction rather than a show trial that’s as staged as a sixth grade play.

Sadly, the latter is exactly what we’re expecting now that the case of Ahmed Abu Khattala has been “randomly” assigned to former Obama ass-monkey and transition team member Christopher “Casey” Cooper, who will only officially be sworn in as a US District Judge later this week in a formal investiture ceremony.

While Hope n’ Change is not usually averse to the idea of on-the-job training, we really prefer to see it in less critical situations than the highest profile terror trial of the century. Instead, start with something easy like brain surgery or piloting commercial jetliners.

Reassuringly, Cooper is described as “quite capable” (wow!) by a totally unbiased partner at his former law firm – who also happens to be his freaking father-in-law. And we assume that he is also considered “quite capable” by his wife, who – surprise! – worked at the Justice Department under Eric Holder.

And by an absolutely astounding coincidence, Cooper’s college roommate just happened to be the brother of national security adviser Susan Rice – the woman whose most famous career achievement was lying her ass off about Benghazi

Looking at all of the incestuous political connections, it would be easy to come to the conclusion that this coordinated attack on the American jurisprudence system was carefully planned in advance by political radicals.  But the Obama administration contends that this demonstration of “random” case assignment was entirely spontaneous.

At least, that’s what Susan Rice is saying. Again.

Frankly, we’re inclined to believe the choice of Casey Cooper has far less to do with a pre-ordained verdict than ensuring evidence with contradicts Team Tick-Tock’s tortured Benghazi story-line never sees the light of day.

Speaking of what becomes more and more each day the Department of Injustice, a picture which truly speaks a thousand words:

A Primer on Race

The-Great-Society-in-a-stat

Back in the heyday of the British Empire, a man from one of the colonies addressed a London audience. “Please do not do any more good in my country,” he said. “We have suffered too much already from all the good that you have done.”

That is essentially the message of an outstanding new book by Jason Riley about blacks in America. Its title is “Please Stop Helping Us.” Its theme is that many policies designed to help blacks are in fact harmful, sometimes devastatingly so. These counterproductive policies range from minimum wage laws to “affirmative action” quotas.

Next up, the WSJ‘s Jason Riley reports how Black Chicago celebrated the 4th of July holiday, the Windy City’s strictest-in-the-nation’s gun laws notwithstanding:

Chicago and Black Criminality

And trust us, the statistics haven’t improved in the last 9 years!

Apparently, no one told Chicago that the Fourth of July holiday weekend was over. The shootings continued into Monday.

“In the roughly 84 hours from 3:10 p.m. Thursday until 3:30 a.m. Monday, gunfire struck 82 people, 14 of them fatally,” reports the Chicago Tribune. “Both tallies include two boys shot by police: a 14-year-old who allegedly pointed a long-barreled .44-caliber revolver at officers, and a 16-year-old who—after first eluding cops who had responded to a report of shots fired—allegedly refused officers’ instructions to drop a .380-caliber semi-automatic handgun as he crawled out from beneath a car. That’s right, a 14-year-old wielding a .44-caliber revolver and a 16-year-old with a semi-automatic handgun.”

So here we go again. Another spate of shootings that feature, almost exclusively, young black and brown men. Another liberal clarion call for more gun control. And another collective dodge of the real problem, which is ghetto culture. If recent history is any indication, this debate on the left will be largely fact-free. So let’s throw some facts out there.

Many places with less-restrictive gun laws have less gun violence than Chicago, which already sports some of the toughest gun restrictions in the country. The gun-ownership rate in rural areas is higher than in urban areas—a Gallup poll last year found that rural Americans are more than twice as likely to have a gun in the home than those living in large cities—yet urban areas have more gun violence. And finally, the gun ownership rate among whites is significantly higher than among blacks, yet gun violence among blacks is much more common. In 2010, blacks, who make up just 13 percent of the population, were 55 percent of shooting homicide victims. And 90 percent of black murder victims are killed by other blacks.

The problem is not our gun laws. Nor is it our drug laws, or racist cops, prosecutors and judges. The problem is black criminality, which is a function of black pathology, which ultimately stems from the breakdown of the black family. The late James Q. Wilson put it this way:

“If crime is to a significant degree caused by weak character; if weak character is more likely among the children of unmarried mothers; if there are no fathers who will help raise their children, acquire jobs, and protect their neighborhoods; if boys become young men with no preparation for work; if school achievement is regarded as a sign of having “sold out” to a dominant white culture; if powerful gangs replace weak families—if all these things are true, then the chances of reducing by plan and in the near future the crime rate of low-income blacks are slim.”

Wilson wrote that in 2002, but it was true 20 years before then and may still be true 20 years from now if we don’t confront the problem head-on. And it’s awfully difficult to confront something that most people, especially on the political left, don’t even want to talk about.

For more on the subject of Black criminals the MSM somehow ignores, here’s a little incident from San Antonio, the details of which won’t be featured on the network evening news:

‘I Feel Like Killing Someone’: Police Say Man Beaten To Death In Front Of Crowd At Amtrak Station

A man was beaten to death in front of a crowd of people at an Amtrak Station Thursday. San Antonio Police arrested 21-year-old Michael Joseph Fobbs for approaching a man sitting on a bench alone and fatally beating him.

The 56-year-old man was waiting to board a bus when the incident happened. Police said that Fobbs paused for a few moments and said, “I feel like killing someone,” and then continued to beat the man with his fists until he killed him, KENS 5-TV reported. Amtrak security rushed to the scene but it was already too late.

Gee…this guy qualifies as yet another son The Obamao might have had!

Turning to our continuing coverage of Election ’16, writing at The Weekly Standard, Daniel Halper details the latest on Hillary’s efforts to torpedo her presidential campaign:

Hillary Doubles Down on Being Broke: ‘We Couldn’t Even Get a Mortgage on a House by Ourselves’

MAD-Magazine-1-Broke-Girl_53972d0e44b385.63571944

“You recently described your financial situation during the presidency of your husband Bill Clinton as dead broke,” says Der Spiegel.

“Well, when we came out of the White House, we were deeply in debt because of all the legal bills that we owed because of the relentless persecution of my husband and myself, and he had to work unbelievably hard to pay off every single penny of every debt we owed. And we did,” Clinton responds.

The magazine posits, “Today, you are multimillionaires. Your husband has earned $104 million with his speeches since 2001.”

To which the former secretary of state responds, “We are very grateful for where we are today. But if you were to go back and look at the amount of money that we owed, we couldn’t even get a mortgage on a house by ourselves. In our system he had to make double what he needed in order just to pay off the debt, and then to finance a house and continue to pay for our daughter’s education.”

Yeah…”unbelievably hard”…giving speeches…at $250K a crack…to continue paying for your daughter’s education at the most elite schools in the Progressive world!  And it must have been particularly tough getting a mortgage, let alone making ends meet, when you had multi-millionaire sugar daddies like Terry McAuliffe willing to co-sign on your loan…or lend you however much money you wanted?!?

Obama’s legacy of failure

obamacry-300x180

“In his 2008 convention speech, Barack Obama declared that as president he would clean up the mess created by “the failed presidency of George W. Bush.” Now many Americans say he has done a worse job in office than the man he replaced. A new Quinnipiac poll finds that a plurality rated Barack Obama the worst president in the past 70 years — worse even than Richard Nixon, who resigned in scandal…

…That’s a legacy to be sure — just not the one for which Obama was hoping.

Nor is it one America can really afford, let alone ever forget.

Which brings us to our final item, courtesy of David Adesnik writing at The Washington Free Beacon, who proffers a bit of history circa 1950 the vast majority of Americans never learned:

The lesson of Task Force Smith

A team mans a Bazooka at the Battle of Osan. At right is Private First Class Kenneth Shadrick, who was killed by enemy fire a few moments after this photo was made, becoming the first United States soldier to die in the Korean campaign.

“…Both old habits and intense public pressure contributed to Truman’s decisions. After both the Civil War and World War One, powerful American forces withered away. After the Japanese surrender in 1945, a war-weary public demanded the most rapid possible return to normalcy.

During the Second World War, almost 18 million Americans served in uniform, each for an average of 33 months. More than 70 percent served overseas, for an average of 16 months. Four hundred thousand Americans made the ultimate sacrifice—more each month than the number killed in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars combined.

…It would be advisable to prepare for rougher weather even if the national-security outlook were sunny. But the outlook is far from sunny. Russia’s unexpected aggression in Ukraine and the surge of Islamic extremism in Syria and Iraq have added to existing threats from North Korea, Iran, and a rising China. Yet the degradation of U.S. military readiness continues. Sixty-four years later, America has yet to learn the lesson of Task Force Smith.

Those who do not remember the past…or ever learned about it in the first place…

…are condemned to repeat it.
