It’s Monday, July 21st, 2014…and here’s The Gouge!

First up, courtesy of The Daily Caller, what must come as no shock whatsoever to anyone with even half a brain…

Darn!  That leaves us out!

…not to mention all the inquiring minds who want to know why the facilities housing these illegals are shrouded in secrecy:

White House Hid Huge Spike Of Families Crossing Border

“New data shows the White House has painted a false picture of the Central American migration by hiding a huge spike in “family units” who are illegally crossing the Texas border.

The data, which was dumped by the U.S. border patrol late Friday afternoon, shows that inflow of youths and children traveling without parents has doubled since 2013, to 57,525 in the nine months up to July 2014. But the number of migrants who cross the border in so-called “family units” has spiked five-fold to 55,420, according to the border patrol’s data, which came out amid a storm of news about the shoot-down of a Malaysian aircraft in Ukraine, delays in failed U.S. nuke talks with Iran, and on Hamas’ continued war against Israel.

In the Rio Grande area where most of the migrants are crossing the border, the number of so-called “unaccompanied children” was actually outnumbered by the inflow by adults, parents and children in “family units,” according to the data. The much-faster growth in “family units” has been hidden by White House and agency officials, who have tried to portray the influx as a wave of children fleeing abuse and violence…

…what a surprise!

Congressman Mike Rogers hits the nail on the head with DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson, but drives our point home at the 34-second mark:

Which begs the question why Rogers’ point hasn’t been the subject of a commercial run relentlessly by the RNC?

The Bear Is Loose

Obama fundraises while Putin runs amok

““The bear is loose!” President Obama has been saying, whenever he leaves the White House to visit Starbucks, or sandwich shops, or burger joints, or BBQ shacks, or neighborhood diners, in his increasingly rote and pathetic attempts to “connect” with “real people.” Obama, we have been told, is frustrated, “restless,” bored with the responsibilities and chores of office. He thinks of himself as the bear—intimidating, wild, untamed, roving—escaping his den. But he is flattering himself. Obama is not the bear. He is the cub: aimless, naïve, self-interested, self-indulgent, irresponsible, irresolute. The bear is in Moscow

True…

…true!

And since we’re on the subject of a President seemingly hell-bent on compromising national security, courtesy of Bill Meisen and The Washington Times, here’s another utterly asinine move by a man incapable of any other kind…but guaranteed to keep America’s enemies laughing:

Highway to the danger zone? Obama picks non-pilot to head Air Force in Pacific

Promotion sought in diversity drive

Lt_Gen_Lori_Robinson_2013

“The White House has picked the first female general to head the Air Force in the Pacific, which will make her the first non-pilot to command air power in such a large theater of operation. The Pentagon announced this week that Air ForceLt. Gen. Lori J. Robinson has been nominated for promotion to four-star general and as commander of Pacific Air Forces, the Air Force component of U.S. Pacific Command. It is a major combatant command whose air, ground and naval forces have broad responsibility for security in the Asia-Pacific region. Her nomination was sent to the Senate for confirmation.

Officials said pilots historically have commanded Air Force war-fighting components for the Pacific and for U.S. Air Forces Europe; Air Forces Central, which covers the Middle East and Afghanistan; and the 1st Air Force, which is part of Northern Command and protects U.S. skies. Gen. Robinson is not a career pilot. Her military profession is air battle manager. She has served aboard the Air Force’s surveillance aircraft, the E-3 AWACs and E-8 JSTARS, and she was nominated for a promotion amid a drive for more diversity in the Pentagon

This bit of politically-correct bullsh*t begs the question posed by Donald Sutherland to Robert Ryan in The Dirty Dozen:

For those who choose to look on the bright side of any given set of circumstances, she’s at least flown in military aircraft!

Next up, in today’s installment of the “This is What Happens When Liberals Begin Believing Their Own Bullsh*t” segment, as FOXNews reports, the previous possessor of the Progressive Press-awarded position of Smartest Man in the World apparently didn’t know Jack Sh*t either:

New York Times story prompted Clinton to question CIA’s info on bin Laden, according to newly released memo

Clinton Memo 3

When a New York Times article cast doubt on the accusation Usama bin Laden had a hand in the 1998 bombings of African embassies, President Clinton questioned his own CIA, according to a note he scrawled to his national security adviser.

The memo, part of a 1,000-page release of documents Friday afternoon by the National Archives, was written after the president apparently read an article in the self-professed “paper of record” casting doubt on the U.S. Justice Department’s case that the Al Qaeda mastermind was involved in the Aug. 7, 1998 bombings of U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania. Some 224 people were killed in the twin attacks, including 12 Americans.

Two months later, a federal grand jury in New York indicted bin Laden and 20 others for participating in a terrorist plot to kill Americans. But the Times article, entitled “U.S. Hard Put to Find Proof bin Laden Directed Attacks,” and written the following April, raised doubts about bin Laden’s involvement, at least with Clinton“Sandy, if this article is right, the CIA sure overstated its case to me — What are the facts?” Clinton wrote in pen.

The Times article came just two-and-a-half years before Al Qaeda mounted the 9/11 attacks. But even though the Saudi terror boss would become Public Enemy No.1 until a U.S. Navy SEAL team killed him in a raid on his compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan on May 2, 2011, the Times suggested there was little proof he ordered the truck bombings in Africa.

“Capturing Mr. bin Laden alive could deepen the complications,” read a line from the Times article. “American officials say that so far, firsthand evidence that could be used in court to prove that he commanded the bombings has proven difficult to obtain. According to the public record, none of the informants involved in the case have direct knowledge of Mr. bin Laden’s involvement.”…”

It must be noted Clinton had three…count ’em, THREE…documented opportunities to kill bin Laden in the 2-1/2 years immediately prior to 9/11, yet he passed on all of them, due at least in part to the “paper of record” and its best imitation of Uncle Walter definitively declaring the North Vietnamese victors in the wake of their devastating defeat in the Tet Offensive.

Speaking of utterly unbelievable Progressive pronouncements, James Taranto offers these observations on what passes for cutting-edge, hard-nosed journalism in the UK:

‘Utterly Mind-Blowing’

Are you familiar with Stylist magazine? Neither are we, but the Washington Free Beacon’s Andrew Stiles (link above) –no relation, we assume–credits the British freebie with having published “one of the puffiest Hillary Clinton puff pieces of all time.”

Stiles has a series of excerpts, but here are just a couple of choice bits:

Throughout my interview with Hillary, she is fiercely engaged; her eyes–sparkly, wide, alert–remain firmly focused on me. She is warm, considered, talks slowly and thoughtfully and uses–consciously or not–tactics that put me at ease. She frequently answers my queries with the response: “Now, that’s a great question”, she litters her answers with colloquialisms that put us on a level and, listening back, I am struck by the amount of times she says, “You know”. And of course there’s that charming laugh. I can see that these natural skills make her the perfect diplomat, the ultimate leader. . . .

All I can say in conclusion is that Hillary was warm, engaging, charismatic, ambitious, smart, determined and busier than any other woman I am probably ever likely to meet.

We also enjoyed the reference to Mrs. Clinton’s “utterly mind-blowing life.”

We can only assume the author of the Stylist article’s never met a housewife with three small kids, let alone a single mother with same.
