The Clintons are ‘slumming it’! Power couple downsize their summer home to pay $100,000 on $18m Hamptons property after ‘dead broke’ gaffe

Yeah…that’s down from the $200K they spent last summer; guess Obamanomics is hitting everyone! Then there’s this quote, courtesy of the WSJ, from an essay written by former British Chancellor of the Exchequer Nigel Lawson:

“It is a cruel irony that, while it was science which, more than anything else, was able by its great achievements, to establish the age of reason, it is all too many climate scientists and their hangers-on who have become the high priests of a new age of unreason. But what moves me most is that the policies invoked in its name are grossly immoralAsking these countries to abandon the cheapest available sources of energy is, at the very least, asking them to delay the conquest of malnutrition, to perpetuate the incidence of preventable disease, and to increase the numbers of premature deaths.

Not forgetting the 90 million residents of the Third World who’ve died of malaria since the Rachel Carson-inspired Environazis forced the banning of DDT through equally faulty science. Boys and girls, can you say… liberal hypocrite We knew you could! Now, here’s The Gouge! First up, writing at the Morning Examiner, Mark Tapscott poses a question we answered months if not years ago:

Is it time to view the Obama administration as a criminal enterprise?

“While we have not identified any specific emails that we will be unable to retrieve, it is possible that some emails may not be available”…you know, only the ones about the Obamacare roll-out…only the incriminating ones!

“See a tree with 20 apples hanging on it and reasonable people conclude it’s an apple tree. So is it a criminal conspiracy when 20 government employees illegally destroy important official emails?

If that seems like an extreme question, consider the steadily accumulating evidence about the Obama administration’s modus operandi with potentially incriminating documents subpoenaed by Congress: A scandal erupts. Congressional hearings are held. Documents are requested and withheld. Subpoenas are issued. Contempt charges threatened. A few documents dribble out.

Then come the admissions that, oh by the way, emails required by multiple federal laws to be preserved have either been destroyed or “lost.”…”

Again…and again…and again! Next up, the latest on the Religion of Peace, courtesy of Tom Rogan and NRO:

Yezidi and the Islamic State

While the world is preoccupied with Gaza, another religious minority faces the world’s worst fanatics.

“About 15 miles east of the Syrian border, Yezidi, members of a religious sect numbering probably fewer than 1 million worldwide, sit atop the small Iraqi mountain range of Sinjar. They have little food and water, and, without support, many are already dying. (Sean Thomas offers excellent reporting here.)

Hope is also perishing, because the world’s worst fanatics are heading their way: the Islamic State (IS). On its ordained march to purge the world of anyone who doesn’t kneel, IS has little interest in mercy. The Islamic State project is a proud mission of death.

Of course, you may not have heard about any of this. The hashtag hypocrites are intoxicated by Gaza, after all. Still, this catastrophe is very real. And it’s not just the Yezidi who are suffering. The Kurds of northern Iraq and Syria are in an equally desperate position. Alone and outgunned, they face annihilation.

This isn’t complex. As Max Terzano has noted, the U.S. has a clear moral responsibility to support the Kurdish people. But there’s another issue here. In the Middle East, U.S. credibility has plummeted. If America now ignores the Yezidi–Kurdish plight, doing so will broadcast a terrible message: that our friendship means little and that alternative allies — Iran, for example — might be a better bet. In essence, not only will our humanitarian reputation suffer a hammer blow, so will our broader strategic interests…

Here’s the juice: we never agreed with the decision to invade Iraq in the first place, favoring instead the surgical elimination of Saddam.  But once we were there, the only possible option was to finish the job.  And any way you slice it… iraq-bush-v-obama1 …The Obamao’s snatched defeat from the jaws of victory…a humiliating retreat the likes of which the country hasn’t seen since the days of Jimmy Carter. We should note Team Tick-Tock has begun air-drops of humanitarian aid to the besieged Yezidi, and is finally, belatedly launching airstrikes again limited targets in Iraq.  As the WSJ notes:

“…For President Obama, any decision to reinforce the Iraqis or Kurds will be painful. On Thursday night he still took credit for removing all U.S. forces from Iraq in 2011. He was at pains to reassure Americans that the U.S. will not fight another war in Iraq even as he committed U.S. air power to the war that continues in Iraq.

It’s clear now that his decision to withdraw all U.S. troops in 2011 was a strategic and increasingly a moral disaster. The President—which is to say the United States—bears responsibility now for the humanitarian catastrophe occurring in Iraq, just as it did for the mass flight of Vietnam’s boat people, some two million, after the Communist triumph in the 1970s.”

What’s clear to us is ever electing The Dear Misleader to office was a strategic and moral disaster of the first order.  Since we’re on the subject of moral disasters, in what amounts to an insult to any self-respecting metamorphic, igneous or sedimentary formation…

Retired Army officer: Nancy Pelosi ‘dumb as a rock’

pelosi

During a recent appearance on Fox News’ “Hannity,” retired Army Lt. Col. Ralph Peters said House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., is “dumb as a rock,” the Political Insider reported Monday. Worse yet, Col. Peters compared her comments on Hamas to those who marveled at Adolf Hitler’s “humanitarian” policies prior to World War II.

“How could a former speaker of the House — our own government recognizes Hamas as a terrorist organization. How did she not read their own charter?” Hannity asked. “How does she not know the Qataris are the ones providing the money to buy the rockets that kill the Israelis? Does she not know these basic facts?”

“No, she doesn’t know the basic facts,” Col Peters said. “She’s dumb as a rock and makes no effort to educate herself.”

Peters was responding to comments Pelosi made in which she claimed the Qataris told her Hamas was a “humanitarian organization.” He mocked her statement by sarcastically mentioning the Nazis. “And the Nazis were wonderful humanitarians,” he said in a mocking tone. “They ran great youth camps for blond-haired children. I mean, come on! At some point, you’ve got to recognize evil when evil is right in your face!”

‘Dumb as a rock’ Nancy Pelosi calls Africa a ‘country,’ deletes tweet

dumbasdirt And in the Environmental Moment, we present what constitutes reasoned debate on the reality of anthropogenic global warming from the Left, courtesy of CNN anchor Bill Weir: bill weir CNN Weir evidently lost it while reading a FOX Nation posting detailing Al Bore’s Climate Reality Project bringing their I’m Too Hot ice cream trucks to Denver for the EPA’s “hearings” on further coal-fired power plant emissions…in the midst of a cold-snap. On the one hand, Weir is right; weather is in fact NOT climate.  But the FOX Nation posting only sought to point out the irony of the circumstances, not offer scientific analysis.  On the other hand, we find Weir’s visceral venom particularly pious and hypocritical in view of the Left’s continuing claims any weather-related aberration, be it hurricane, tornado, heat wave, cold snap, drought or deluge, is attributable to anthropogenic global warming.
