It’s Monday, September 22nd, 2014…but before we begin, three quotes worth consideration, particularly given the times.  First, the great Thomas Sowell goes a little Gordon Gecko in his 1995 tome entitled The Vision of the Anointed:

Among the many other questions raised by the nebulous concept of “greed” is why it is a term applied almost exclusively to those who want to earn more money or to keep what they have already earned—never to those wanting to take other people’s money in taxes or to those wishing to live on the largess dispensed from such taxation. No amount of taxation is ever described by the anointed as “greed” on the part of government or the clientele of government

Families who wish to be independent financially and to make their own decisions about their lives are of little interest or use to those who are seeking to impose their superior wisdom and virtue on other people. Earning their own money makes these families unlikely candidates for third-party direction and wishing to retain what they have earned threatens to deprive the anointed of the money needed to distribute as largess to others who would thus become subject to their direction. In these circumstances, it is understandable why the desire to increase and retain one’s own earnings should be characterized negatively as “greed,” while wishing to live at the expense of others is not.

And this before THE Anointed One ever cursed the country with even a hint of his plans to overthrow the Republic.

Next, the thoughts of General James Mattis, USMC (Ret.) testifying Thursday before the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence:

Whichever strategy is chosen, we should be reticent in telling our adversaries in advance any timeline that governs us or which of our capabilities we will not employ. Specifically if this threat to our nation is determined to be as significant as I believe it is, we may not wish to reassure our enemies in advance that they will not see American “boots on the ground”: If a brigade of our paratroopers or a battalion landing team of our Marines could strengthen our allies at a key juncture and create havoc/humiliation for our adversaries, then we should do what is necessary with our forces that exist for that very purpose. The U.S. military is not war weary, our military draws strength from confronting our enemies when clear policy objectives are set and we are fully resourced for the fight

Without firm action this poison will spread. The geography of the globalized world does not permit us to look away as if this is not our problem. Geo-political realities must be confronted and the enemy of our enemy may still remain our enemy, so the construction of an integrated Mid-East strategy to include confronting the Islamic State will not be simple. But that is now our duty to ourselves and to the world that our children will soon enough inherit.

Lastly, just to prove our ever-critical eye continually examines both sides of the aisle, Ann Coulter identifies one of the most pressing problems confronting Republicans in their battle for control of the Senate:

“…The biggest current danger for Republicans is that idiots will vote for Libertarian candidates in do-or-die Senate elections, including Kentucky, Kansas, North Carolina and Colorado. (That’s in addition to the “Independent” in Kansas who’s a Democrat.) Democratic candidates don’t have to put up with this crap — they’re even trying to dump the official Democrat in Kansas to give the stealth Democrat a better shot.

When we’re all dying from lack of health care across the United States of Mexico, we’ll be deeply impressed with your integrity, libertarians.

Which brings me to my final assignment for this week: If you are considering voting for the Libertarian candidate in any Senate election, please send me your name and address so I can track you down and drown you.

And we’ll help her hold your head under!  Though we’re forced admit, the fault for such otherwise insane inclinations lies squarely at the feet of…

Republican_Vaudeville-Poster

…the so-called “leaders” of the GOP.  Still, even though buffoons, they’re infinitely better than…

…the alternative!

Now, here’s The Gouge!

First up, a brief observation occasioned by the latest embarrassment for the Secret Service:

Uninvited guest makes it through front door of White House in major breach

white-house3_20140920_061643

We’re always struck by the hypocrisy of providing this anti-gun putz of a President protection under the aegis of weapons unavailable to the general public.  Though far be it from us to criticize the Secret Service for according the First Marxists the level of security they truly deserve!

Next up, the WSJ‘s Kim Strassel details the deliberate deception at the heart of the man The Obamao assured America was the cure for what ails the IRS:

Stonewall Koskinen

The IRS commissioner was supposed to clean up the mess. Instead, he’s running interference.

irretrievable

“Nine months have passed since President Obama installed John Koskinen as IRS Commissioner, charged with unearthing the agency’s targeting scandal and restoring its credibility. It’s about nine months past time to acknowledge that Mr. Koskinen is the problem, not the answer.

The 75-year-old former Fannie Mae executive on Wednesday put in another superficial appearance before House investigators, spent another two hours dodging questions, jabbing at investigators, and excusing the misdeeds of the least-trusted organization in America. This from the guy brought in to clean up the mess—a man presented in confirmation as a “turnaround artist” and “reformer.”

…The only thing Mr. Koskinen has seemed remotely interested in turning around is his agency’s ugly story-line. He has yet to even accept his agency did anything wrong, spending a March hearing arguing that the IRS didn’t engage in “targeting” and claiming the Treasury inspector general agreed. This was so misleading the Washington Post gave Mr. Koskinen “three Pinocchios, ” noting the IG had testified to the exact opposite…”

Since we’re on the subject of irredeemable douchepumps, here’s the latest attempt by the nominal leader of The Gang Who Still Can’t Shoot Straight to hit the broadside of the 2014 election barn from point blank range:

Boehner: Immigration reform will help boost the economy

Boehner addresses reporters at the U.S. Capitol in Washington

“And if that wall I promised never materializes, I’ll use my tears to swell the Rio Grande beyond fording!”

It wasn’t part of the jobs message he planned to pitch, but Speaker John Boehner said Thursday that immigration reform would help boost the economy. “Immigration reform will help our economy, but you’ve got to secure the border first,” the Ohio Republican said after a speech at the conservative think tank American Enterprise Institute. “We’ve got a mess and everyone knows we’ve got a mess.

Our legal system is broken, our border isn’t secure, and we’ve got the problem of those who are here without documents,” the Speaker continued. “It needs to be fixed. We’re a nation of immigrants, the sooner we do it, the better off the country would be.

No, Speaker Boner; neither our legal system nor our immigration system is “broken“; rather we have laws on the books WHICH AREN’T BEING ENFORCED, an international border WHICH IS UNDEFENDED and illegal aliens residing in our country WHO AREN’T BEING CRIMINALLY PROSECUTED, let alone SUBJECT TO DEPORTION!!!

And citing the need to first secure our southern border prior to any deal on “immigration reform” with The Dear Misleader and Eric the Red as President and Attorney General is like the chairman of the White Star Line promising to install additional lifeboats on the RMS Titanic…just as soon as she returns from her maiden voyage.

Speaking of The Dear Misleader and his purposeful ineptitude, courtesy of Jim Gould and The American Spectator, Jeffrey Lord draws a rather appropriate comparison from history:

Obama at the Gates of Vienna

Yes, of course ISIS is Islamic.

Powrot_z_Wiednia02

“Barack Obama is at the Gates of Vienna. But America is not at war with Islam! Got that? As a matter of fact, all those ISIS (or ISIL) people cutting off heads in those videos? They aren’t Islamic at all, according to President Obama:

Now let’s make two things clear: ISIL is not Islamic. No religion condones the killing of innocents, and the vast majority of ISIL’s victims have been Muslim….ISIL is a terrorist organization, pure and simple. And it has no vision other than the slaughter of all who stand in its way.

Never mind that the beheaders have dropped the “In Syria” or “In the Levant” and simply refer to all their accumulated turf — now the size of Great Britain — as just “IS” as in “Islamic State.” Or that they may have as much as $2 billion in stolen assets.

Who lives in the kind of fantasy that believes a self-proclaimed Islamic State has nothing to do with Islam?

Barack Obama Winking

The atheist Sam Harris has noted this presidential assertion, agog. Writes Harris at his blog in a post titled “Sleepwalking Toward Armageddon”:

…a belief in martyrdom, a hatred of infidels, and a commitment to violent jihad are not fringe phenomena in the Muslim world. These preoccupations are supported by the Koran and numerous hadith. That is why the popular Saudi cleric Mohammed Al-Areefi sounds like the ISIS army chaplain. The man has 9.5 million followers on Twitter (twice as many as Pope Francis has). If you can find an important distinction between the faith he preaches and that which motivates the savagery of ISIS, you should probably consult a neurologist.

Understanding and criticizing the doctrine of Islam — and finding some way to inspire Muslims to reform it — is one of the most important challenges the civilized world now faces. But the task isn’t as simple as discrediting the false doctrines of Muslim “extremists,” because most of their views are not false by the light of scripture. A hatred of infidels is arguably the central message of the Koran. The reality of martyrdom and the sanctity of armed jihad are about as controversial under Islam as the resurrection of Jesus is under Christianity. It is not an accident that millions of Muslims recite the shahadah or make pilgrimage to Mecca. Neither is it an accident that horrific footage of infidels and apostates being decapitated has become a popular form of pornography throughout the Muslim world. Each of these practices, including this ghastly method of murder, find explicit support in scripture…

In a related item describing Team Tick-Tock’s deliberately deceptive diplomacy, the otherwise-unqualified soulmate of Cass Sunstein offers yet another in an endless series of baseless claims:

Power says US has allies in ISIS fight, but won’t name names

Power_080113

Yeah…

yeahright

In yet another related item, courtesy of Commentary Magazine, in a revelation you won’t catch anywhere in the MSM, or from Samantha Powers, Evelyn Gordon accurately identifies…

The Only Refugees in the World Denied the Right of Resettlement

Mideast-Palestinians-_sham-12-725x535

“…Palestinians are the only refugees in the world who are denied the right of resettlement. Whereas UNHCR [U.N. Refugee Agency] resettles tens of thousands of refugees every year, UNRWA [U.N. Relief Works Agency for Palestine] hasn’t resettled a single refugee in its 65 years of existence. On the contrary, the schools it runs for Palestinian refugees indoctrinate them from kindergarten on that there is one, and only one, way for them to end their refugee status: by “returning” to the towns or villages in Israel that their ancestors fled–which most of them have never seen, and some of which no longer even exist. In short, since Israel would never voluntarily accept all five million “refugees” on UNRWA’s rolls, it’s telling them that the only solution to their refugeehood is Israel’s destruction

Sooo…tell us again how Israel is the roadblock to peace in the Middle East?!?

Like we said before, yeah…

yeahright

Turning now to the latest installment of Tales From the Darkside, bowing to racist pressure, Rahmbo reveals…

New high school won’t be named after President Obama

pauladeen_0

After all, a predominantly WHITE high school wouldn’t be serving enough fried chicken, watermelon and moon pies to properly honor the memory of America’s first half-Black President!

“Mayor Rahm Emanuel backed off Thursday from naming a new elite high school after President Barack Obama amid ongoing criticism from African-Americans who felt the honor inappropriate for a school slated for a wealthy, predominantly white part of the Near North Side

No matter what you’ve heard or come to believe, racism in America is alive and well in at least two places; in fringe groups of White separatists…and the heart and soul of the Dimocratic Party.

And in the Environmental Moment, the WSJ describes the latest failed attempt by the Marxists at the heart of the junk science of anthropogenic global warming to destroy free-market capitalism:

People’s Climate Demarche

The anticarbon campaign stalls even at the United Nations.

china-coal

“…One not-so-minor problem: The world’s largest emitters are declining to show up, even for appearances. The Chinese economy has been the No. 1 global producer of carbon dioxide since 2008, but President Xi Jinping won’t be gracing the U.N. with his presence. India’s new Prime Minister Narendra Modi (No. 3) will be in New York but is skipping the climate parley. Russian President Vladimir Putin (No. 4) has other priorities, while Japan (No. 5) is uncooperative after the Fukushima disaster that has damaged support for nuclear power. Saudi Arabia is dispatching its petroleum minister.

U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon excused these truancies at a press conference last week: “In any event, we have other means of communications, ways and means of having their leadership demonstrated in the United Nations.” In that case, why not do a conference call?

To understand the coldness of this brush off, global CO2 emissions increased to 35.1 billion metric tons in 2013, a new record and a 29% increase over a decade ago. Of the year-over-year carbon climb, China at 358 million metric tons jumped by more than the rest of the world combined and is responsible for 24.8% of emissions over the last five years. Over the same period, developing nations accounted for 57.5%.

What this means is that regardless of what the West does, poorer countries that are reluctant to sign agreements that impede economic progress hold the dominant carbon hand. No matter U.S. exertions to save the planet from atmospheric carbon that may or may not have consequences that may or may not be costly in a century or more, the international result will be more or less the same, though U.S. economic growth will be slower

And we…

BN-EQ343_edp092_G_20140921164129

…helped!!!  Note: not “may” be slower; “WILL” be slower…and that by far more than just a damned sight.  Not to mention only the Environazi movement would use a “man” as discredited as Al Gore to promote a theory as discredited as anthropogenic global warming.

Finally, on the Lighter Side:
