On a recent trip to a rug store in Alexandria TLJ frequents in the course of her interior design work, she learned her favorite salesman was hospitalized with a broken neck. He’d been out on the Washington Beltway teaching his daughter to drive, she had panicked and crashed their vehicle. She was buckled in and suffered no serious injury; her father, who wasn’t wearing a safety harness, is now a quadriplegic.

“This is how democracy works,” Barack Obama lectured the country before giving everyone the specifics of his expansive one-man executive overreach on immigration. If you enjoy platitudinous straw men but are turned off by open debate and constitutional order, this speech was for you.
Modern Democrats aren’t the first political party to abuse power – far from it. Obama isn’t the first president to abuse executive power – not by a longshot. But he has to be the first president in American history to overtly and consistently argue that he’s empowered to legislate if Congress doesn’t pass the laws he favors. It’s an argument that’s been mainstreamed by partisans and cheered on by those in media desperate to find a morsel of triumph in this presidency.
…No, the president didn’t kill the process all by himself. Bush did it! Reagan did it! True or not, twenty years from now, the minions of some Republican Napoleon will be screaming ‘Obama did it!’ And they’ll have a sad story or a chilling warning that will justify why it’s ok. Because all legislative powers herein granted shall be vested in a Congress of the United States – unless the president says it’s super important. Then anything goes.

The Obama White House is counting on strong Latino support as the president rolls out his executive edict legalizing millions of currently illegal immigrants. But a new poll suggests Latino approval of unilateral presidential action isn’t all that strong.
The Wall Street Journal-NBC News poll, released Wednesday, asked respondents, “Do you approve or disapprove of the president taking executive action on immigration, or do you not know enough to have an opinion at this time?” Overall, 48 percent of those surveyed said they disapprove of Obama’s action, versus 38 percent who said they approve and 13 percent who said they didn’t have an opinion or weren’t sure.
Among Latinos, more approve than disapprove, but not by a terribly large margin. According to a breakdown provided by the pollsters, 43 percent of Latino respondents said they approved of the president’s actions, versus 37 percent who disapproved and 20 percent who said they didn’t have an opinion or weren’t sure.

But the intelligence and facts were being fixed around the policy.” These notes from a British cabinet meeting were called the smoking gun of Bush’s lying his way into war.
…By contrast, this week, NBC’s Chuck Todd dismissed the Gruber tapes as “a political story” and The New York Times said of Gruber: “In truth, his role was limited.” (NYT, March 28, 2012: “Mr. Gruber helped the administration put together the basic principles of the proposal, (then) the White House lent him to Capitol Hill to help congressional staff members draft the specifics of the legislation.”)
But when the Downing Street memo came out, conservatives weren’t allowed to say, Yeah, well, the British memo writer didn’t have anything to do with the president’s decision to go to war — even though that guy really didn’t have anything to do with it. Those weren’t Tony Blair’s notes. They were a secretary’s interpretation of the MI6 chief’s interpretation of the Bush administration’s argument to the United Nations. It’s like a movie review, written by someone who knew someone who had seen the movie.
The memo writer also wasn’t being paid $400,000 by the Bush administration to make Iraq War policy. Jonathan Gruber was paid that much — plus another several million from the states — to design Obamacare. You don’t pay a half-million dollars to someone who is only peripherally involved in making policy. (Unless we’re talking about Obama himself.)
There was no tape of Bush and Blair running around saying: Trust this guy — the memo writer is our guide! But that’s what Obama, Nancy Pelosi, then-Sen. John Kerry and other Democrats said about Gruber…”
The MSM’s continuing refusal to expose what it knows to be complete and utter bald-faced lies emanating from the White House reminds us of what our dear departed Dad used to say (only on rare occasions, mind you!) of at least two of his sons: “One of you’ll lie and the other’ll verify it.”
In its slavish devotion to a President whose only claim to notoriety or achievement is the color of his father’s skin, the Liberal Fourth Estate, in all its forms, has forfeited not only its credibility but legitimacy. As David Harsanyi notes in his article above, their concurrence on The Anointed One’s amnesty charade is evidence of their desperation “to find a morsel of triumph in this presidency”.
Moving on, writing at PJ Media, Roger Simon exposes the reality behind another charade: that anything, including the two-state “solution”, other than the total annihilation of Israel will ever slake the Arab thirst for Jewish blood:
“What to say about the latest round of Islamo-carnage in Jerusalem that hasn’t been said thousands of times before? Golda Meir made it all clear in her famous 1957 speech at the National Press Club in DC: “Peace will come when the Arabs love their children more than they hate us.” In other words, basically never. The hate culture of the Palestinians — and almost all Arabs — is so deeply imbued it’s hard to imagine it ever changing. After this recent incident, they danced in the street with hatchets and gave each other candy.
Lots of people have tried to make peace with them. The supposed war-monger Ariel Sharon uprooted his own people and gave the Palestinians Gaza. We all know what happened. Then prime minister Ehud Olmert offered the Palestinians the peace deal of the century. They walked away.
The reason is obvious. The Palestinians don’t want a two-state solution and never have. And not just Hamas with their infamous charter urging the death of all Jews, even Jewish trees (whatever that means) — all of them. Well, not absolutely all. There must be one or two somewhere who really want to share the land with the Jews. I just don’t know who they are. Nobody does…”
Yeah, the Arabs want peace alright; about as much as Obama wants transparency, the Ferguson protestors want real justice, Bill wants Hillary or the IRS wants to find Lois Lerner’s emails.

“The nation’s onetime top IT guy finally appeared Wednesday to answer questions at a House hearing on the botched ObamaCare website launch — and claimed it wasn’t his job to know about specific technical issues.
Todd Park, the former chief technology officer of the U.S., left House Republicans frustrated when he said he knew little about security problems involving Healthcare.gov or allegations that bosses at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, which oversaw the project, bullied beleaguered tech workers into rolling out healthcare.gov prematurely. Park acknowledged problems with the rollout, but said he was not involved with “day-in, day-out” operations and details…”
