It’s Monday, December 22nd, 2014…and here’s The Gouge!

First up, in the spirit of the season, Hope ‘n Change details the Devil in his latest guise:

Barry Mitsvah

Barack Mitsvah

In yet the latest surprising revelation about America’s first half-black Irish Native-American Indo-Hawaiian Islamo-Christian president, Barack Obama has announced that he is also Jewish.

At the annual White House Hanukkah reception, the schlemiel-in-chief was greeting guests with a festive “Torah, Torah, Torah!” when he was approached by a reveler who quoted a friend as saying, “I didn’t know the president was Jewish!” After a short, gagging pause to wash down a mouthful of Matzoh with a nice not-too-expensive Mogen David wine, Obama replied “I am, in my soul.”

The president then addressed the party attendees, carefully avoiding stereotypes by praising lox and latkes (“Not as good as your mom’s,” he whined with a Borscht-belt accent, “but they’re good”) before saying, “I can’t think of a better way to mark this holiday, with its message that freedom is possible, than with the historic changes that I announced today in our Cuba policy.” Because what says Hanukkah more than embracing an oppressive regime, right? Not that Hope n’ Change isn’t anxious to see how the Castro brothers look sporting the new yarmulkes Mr. Obama gifted them with.

The nation’s first Jewish president then concluded his holiday remarks by asking everyone to raise their glasses to join him for a traditional Yiddish toast. “Molotov!” he said, then made a wish and blew out the candles on the Menorah.

Hells bells; heretofore, disagreeing with The Obamao was racist; but with his conversion to Judaism, we’re all gonna be…

…anti-Dentites!

Next up, writing at Townhall.com, Katie Pavlich informs us The Left’s entire machinery of racial division is in full spin mode:

Damage Control: Left Issues Slew of Statements After Execution Style Police Killings

As the WSJ notes in an editorial on the killings:

“Especially in urban America, the police walk that line between civilization and mayhem every day. Yet since the Garner and Brown episodes, the progressive leaders in New York and Washington have talked and behaved as if the police are society’s main problem.

To borrow a phrase from our good friend Peanut, Toyota, baby; though in this case, they asked for it…

…but they got it:

It’s like the Captain said in Cool Hand Luke:

We’re not saying Obama, Holder, Sharpton and DeBlowMeo pulled the trigger, but they sure as hell helped the gunman decide on his targets.  And THAT, coming from three high government officials (and one private citizen who’s visited the White House 61 times and is an unofficial counselor to the President on creating and exploiting racial divisions) makes this as irresponsible and shameful an episode in the annals of Liberal politics as we can remember…outside of the rest of Team Tick-Tock’s innumerable scandals.

We’re rarely in agreement with union leaders on anything, but we’re down with the Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association’s Pat Lynch on this one:

Obama Blames Sony

Screen Shot 2014-12-19 at 9.11.28 AM

“President Obama blamed Sony, Inc. for the demise of the movie “The Interview” today at his end of the year press conference. “I think they made a mistake,” Obama said in answer to a direct question as to whether Sony made the right decision to pull the movie from theaters.

“We cannot have a society in which some dictator someplace can start imposing censorship here in the United States,” Obama continued. “I wish they had spoken to me first. I would have told them, ‘Do not get into a pattern in which you’re intimidated by these kinds of criminal attacks.’”…”

As we noted above, like The Dear Misleader’s reaction to…

…his own Administration’s concoction of the fable some obscure video production was responsible for a spontaneous “demonstration” which inexplicably turned into the mortar, rocket and small arms attack which took the lives of four Americans at the Benghazi consulate.

America’s Next President

sonja_henie01

Well, Sonja Henie’s out!

“…Barack Obama’s presidency has left the country with one enduring lesson: Campaigning and governing are distinct activities that require divergent, often conflicting, skill sets. As always, the next president will be the candidate who out-campaigns his or her opponents. But history suggests that Americans are seeking more in a president today than merely a campaigner-in-chief. The voting public is already asking themselves which traits would be most desirable in Obama’s successor, and it serves both parties to be aware of what those characteristics might be.

Ensuring that the tepid post-recession recovery does not reverse course, reviewing the prosecution of America’s endless Middle Eastern wars, unfreezing the debate over how to address the failing Affordable Care Act, and preventing nascent revanchism from taking hold in Moscow and Beijing will certainly be on the next president’s agenda. However, any number of unforeseen eventualities is certain to test the character of America’s 45th president.

So, what character traits will Americans most favor in their next chief executive? Recent history suggests the public will back the politician who is the most dissimilar to the current president. The mass media era has turned the quadrennial presidential race into even more of a beauty contest, and the winner a celebrity. After years of unmet promises and the best intentions producing suboptimal results, Americans hunger for efficacy from the next occupant of the Oval Office. The record indicates there will be no appetite for an Obama doppelganger…”

Which certainly seems to leave Hillary out.

In a related item, the great Victor Davis Hanson describes why he believes The Obamao himself has written the…

Epitaph for Hope and Change

Obama has fundamentally transformed America, all right — but not as he intended.

7f95ae36

“…Obama ran on his iconic status as the would-be first black president. For the most part, he hid his spread-the-wealth agenda. A plumber did better than establishment journalists at prying out a smidgen of Obama’s worldview. The media helped reduce Obama’s Chicago friends such as Bill Ayers, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, and Tony Rezko to complete strangers. To evoke them was tantamount to racism.

The result was a full-fledged liberal presidential agenda of a sort not seen since the New Deal. Harry Truman and John F. Kennedy were more centrists and realists than progressive true believers. In other words, since the 1940s voters have not trusted the left wing of the Democratic party to run the country. And for good reason. Barack Obama’s signature achievements — rammed through a Democratic Congress or enacted by questionable executive orders — now lie in ruins…”

Along with America’s economy, foreign policy, military preparedness, national and border security and the entire concept of e pluribus unum.

About the only segment of American business and the economy The Obamao hasn’t been able to hobble is domestic energy production.  But as the WSJ reports, it’s certainly not for a lack of trying:

Obama on Oil Markets

Supply and demand seem to be elusive concepts.

262445_5_

President Obama was trained in law, not economics, but we’d have thought he’d have picked up at least some basic knowledge about the dismal science in his six years in the White House. It sure didn’t sound like it based on his soliloquy about oil markets in his end-of-year Friday press conference.

The President was asked what he might do if the new Congress sends him a bill approving the Keystone XL pipeline. Mr. Obama dodged that one. But he did ruminate at length on the market impact of “Canadian oil” that he said would be the only oil flowing through the pipeline. “At issue in Keystone is not American oil,” he said, conveniently omitting that American oil from the Bakken Shale in North Dakota will also flow via the pipeline. But let’s be generous and assume he’s misinformed.

Mr. Obama’s market analysis is more remarkable and worth quoting at length: “So there’s no—I won’t say ‘no’—there is very little impact, nominal impact, on U.S. gas prices—what the average American consumer cares about—by having this pipeline come through. And sometimes the way this gets sold is, let’s get this oil and it’s going to come here. And the implication is, is that’s going to lower gas prices here in the United States. It’s not. There’s a global oil market. It’s very good for Canadian oil companies and it’s good for the Canadian oil industry, but it’s not going to be a huge benefit to U.S. consumers. It’s not even going to be a nominal benefit to U.S. consumers.”

Let’s break that down. The oil market is global, but somehow adding to the global supply of oil via the pipeline is not going to affect the global price for oil, so it won’t affect American gasoline prices. That doesn’t seem to pass the basic supply-demand test…”

Not being nearly as generous as the Journal, we’ll assume he’s once again lying through his teeth in an effort to obfuscate, misdirect and misinform.  We can only hope a public finally realizing the benefits of dramatically increased domestic fossil fuel production, despite The Anointed One’s best efforts to torpedo them, sees through his latest deliberate deception.

Following up on the Marxist-in-Chief’s latest surrender to the forces of evil and tyranny around the globe, The Weekly Standard‘s Michael Warren reports…

Obama Apologizes to Castro

Cuban communist leader lectures Obama for 30 minutes.

157646_600

“…Obama began the phone call with Castro with what he described as 15 minutes of opening comments. It was the first conversation between the heads of state in both countries since 1961.

“I apologized for taking such a long time,” Obama said. Castro responded by reminding Obama that the American president was still young enough to beat Castro’s brother, former Cuban president and revolutionary leader Fidel Castro, who once gave a 7-hour-long speech.

According to the president, Raul Castro proceeded to speak to Obama uninterrupted for 30 minutes.

Which begs the question posed by Tim Carney in the Washington Examiner:

So did the Castros win after all?

“Many conservatives cursed Obama for liberalizing relations with Communist Cuba. Many other conservatives applauded him for abandoning failed sanctions in exchange for free enterprise. Meanwhile, an article by Tom Hayden in The Nation, the liberal American magazine, applauded Obama’s decision as a “victory for the Cuban revolution” and a final vindication for the Castros…”

In any event, as this next item by the WSJ’s Mary O’Grady reveals, those clinging to the belief lifting the U.S. trade embargo will cure all Cuba’s ills may want to reconsider their position:

Who Benefits if the Embargo Is Lifted?

The Castros already welcome foreign trade and investment. Fat lot of good it’s done for Cubans.

PONGyeswecanbild

“On a trip to Havana in the late 1990s, I toured the restoration of a 17th century convent with a Cuban architect. He told me the project was having trouble getting replacement floor tiles because of the U.S. embargo. I smiled and told him there was no blockade of the island and that the tiles could be sourced in Mexico. He grinned back at me.

“Well, OK,” he said. “The real problem is that we don’t have any money to buy them.”

Cubans are programmed from an early age to complain to anyone who will listen that “el bloqueo” is the cause of the island’s dire poverty. They know it’s a lie. But obediently repeating it is a survival skill. It raises the odds that the demented dictator won’t suspect you of having counterrevolutionary thoughts, boot you from your job, kick your children out of school and haul you off to jail.

The Castros are in full-blown panic mode because Venezuela, which has been their financial lifeline for 15 years, is broke. The last time things were this bad, when Soviet subsidies dried up in the early 1990s and the regime ran out of money, Castro introduced the “special period.”

Cubans were permitted to run restaurants in their homes, operate taxis and provide other services to foreigners and locals. As entrepreneurship blossomed, the state began to lose the absolute control it had relied on since 1959. Fidel clamped down as soon as Cuba stabilized…”

But The Obamao buys into it.  Hmmm; we see three possibilities.  He’s either (a) ignorant; (b) misinformed; or (c) Joe McCarthy and Joe Wilson were right:

577260_480150952039075_716864736_n_zps9b5b6894

When in doubt (which we’re not!), choose (c)!

Then there’s the latest from Newsmax.com on the Army deserter Obama traded for five unrepentant terrorists, 70 shares of GM stock and option rights on Ryan Leaf, Tony Mandarich and JaMarcus Russell:

Military Analysts: Bergdahl Report to Show He Deserted

before-you-call-bergdah-a-hero-meet-the-real-heroes-killed-looking-for-this-deserter

The U.S. Army’s report on Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl will show he deserted, but not that he is a traitor, two military analysts familiar with the case told Fox News Channel’s The O’Reilly Factor. The report was completed in October, but has yet to be released to the public. Bergdahl walked away from his base in Afghanistan and was captured and held by the Taliban for five years.

…Lt. Col. Tony Shaffer, who said he played a role in one of three methods the United States considered in bringing Bergdahl back, told Fox’s Bill O’Reilly on Thursday he has heard the final report mirrors the initial Naval Criminal Investigative Service report from 2009, just after Bergdahl was taken captive. Col. David Hunt says he has heard the same thing, adding that the report likely will be released on Jan. 16. That would be about a week and a half after the new Republican Congress is sworn in, and would be on a Friday, when stories are less likely to get wide media coverage.

…Hunt said the real issue will be whether Bergdahl will be found to be a traitor. He told O’Reilly that he has been told Bergdahl will not be charged as a traitor and will be given a less-than-honorable discharge. He also will not be required to refund the $300,000 in back pay he received during his captivity.

Shaffer and Hunt both said they oppose that decision. Shaffer said Bergdahl did as much damage as Pvt. Bradley Manning, who leaked military secrets online. And Bergdahl’s damage was more direct, Shaffer said. People died looking for him,” he said. “I feel he gave aid and comfort to the enemy, the Taliban, and then forced us to do some really stupid things to get [him] back.”

Who’s “us”?  No one was forced “to do some really stupid things to get” Bergdahl back; one man, Barack Hussein Obama, was more than ready, willing and able to do some incredibly stupid things all by his lonesome.  Then again, what Obama did is only stupid if one assumes him to be acting in the best interests of the United States…rather than as he actually is:
