We’re in Austin, TX playing golf; okay, we’re playing golf like we just picked up the game.

Anyway, reading Hope ‘n Change this morning, we felt compelled to share with you what we feel is an eerily accurate depiction of America:

Crash Position

Crash Position

The pilot was locked out of the cockpit. That phrase finally revealed the full horror of the crash of Germanwings flight 9525. Co-pilot Andreas Lubitz waited for the pilot to leave the cockpit, then locked the door to prevent his re-entry. After which Lubitz, for reasons unknown and perhaps unknowable, deliberately steered the jet into a harrowing 8 minute plunge ending in an explosive 434 mph impact with a rocky mountainside. 150 men, women and children met an immediate, unthinkably violent death.

Lubitz, in his single-minded madness, couldn’t be stopped because anyone who could change the jet’s disastrous course was locked out.

It’s hard to imagine the growing feelings of fear and helplessness that the passengers felt as the unforgiving landscape rushed up to meet them. Hard – but not impossible.

Because America is in trouble. We feel the descent in the pits of our stomachs. We hear the shake and rattle of structures stressed beyond their limits. We don’t know where we’re going anymore, but do know it isn’t good. And above all, we feel helpless because Barack Obama has locked us out.

He locked the American people out of his decision to seize the national healthcare system. Locked us out when we wanted to know why the IRS was attacking conservatives. He locked us out of having a say in his decision to tear up our immigration laws, and to give over a trillion dollars in benefits to those who broke those laws.

Obama locked out those who advised against premature troop withdrawals. Locked out the intelligence agencies who issued warnings about the growing threat of ISIS.  He locked out anyone who could have interfered with his release of five Taliban terror chiefs in return for one U.S. military deserter.

And of course, Barack Obama has now locked out Congress, the American people, and our allies as he strikes a secret deal with Iran to determine the timeline (not prevention) of their acquisition of nuclear weapons.

Was Andreas Lubitz depressed, insane, or abysmally evil when he decided to lock that cockpit door and listen to no voices other than those in his head? Did he somehow believe himself to be doing the right thing?

The voice recordings from the doomed aircraft reveal that as the jet began its rapid descent, the passengers were quiet. There was probably some nervous laughter, confusion, a bit of comforting chatter with seatmates, followed by a brief period in which anxiety had not yet metastasized into terror.

It was only near the end of the 8 minute plunge that everyone finally understood what was really happening. Only near the end when they began to scream.

Like those passengers, a growing number of Americans feel a helpless dread as they come  to the inescapable conclusion that our nation’s decline is an act of choice rather than of chance. The choice of one man who is in full control of our 8 year plunge.

A man who has locked everyone out.

Sound about right to you?

It’s Wednesday, March 25th, 2015…but before we begin, here hangs a “tail”:

Darby before…

Before

Darby after:

After

No, Darby’s neither in need of reading glasses, nor is she imitating TLJ’s “Boy, are you in trouble!” look.  Darby’s higher than Barry on a week-long bender!

Apparently, while patrolling my friend’s patio after anthropogenic global warming had finally permitted the D.C./Baltimore area’s semi-permanent ice cap to finally melt, the darling Darby chanced upon a scent she couldn’t resist.  Fortunately for Darby, as well as her concerned owner, it’s tough to OD on a roach; though they do have certain other side effects.

UNfortunately for America, one of them may yet

obamapot

…prove fatal.

Now, here’s The Gouge!

First up, and at the risk of alienating certain readers, we wholeheartedly concur with the WSJ‘s assessment of…

The Cruz Candidacy

Ideology aside, the Republican is similar in many ways to Obama.

AX137_17C2_9

Ted’s self-assessement is spot on!

“Can a smart, articulate, 40-something first term Senator trained in constitutional law, who disdains his colleagues and lacks executive experience, make the leap to the White House? President Obama proved it was possible in 2008, and now Ted Cruz will try to show that a Republican can do it too after announcing his campaign for the White House on Monday.

Neither man will like this comparison, and their world views are as divergent as any two men in politics. Yet Messrs. Obama and Cruz are strikingly similar in their pedigrees and political style. They were raised middle-class but made their way to the Ivy League and beyond by dint of talent.

They became lawyers but mainly as a launching pad to politics. The President was a state senator, Mr. Cruz the Texas solicitor general. Mr. Cruz is a better debater, and Mr. Obama a better speech-maker, but both are better talkers than listeners. Above all, they are political solo-artists in an age that rewards entrepreneurial candidates. They saw the Senate as a stepping-stone to the White House rather than a place to contribute or get something done…”

We stand by our initial impression there’s something about Cruz which just doesn’t feel right. But, at least thus far, it’s not his politics or positions.

And we agree with our old buddy G. Trevor when he observed Cruz may have made some mistakes, but he prefers a true Conservative with the guts to take a stand over the Gumbys…

Gumby-twisted

…currently running the GOP.

In another Campaign ’16-related item, Dick Morris offers a helpful hint to Trey Gowdy:

Hillary Can’t Type: Look To Huma’s And Cheryl’s Emails

hillary-clinton-shrug-ap

What difference does it make now?!?

“Don’t expect a gold mine of emails on Hillary’s private account. Why not? Because she doesn’t know how to type. That’s right. She writes everything out in longhand. Really. Anyone who has spent time in meetings with her knows about her endless yellow pads.

So her emails will most likely turn out to be very short and quick. She wouldn’t spend a lot of time pecking out long letters. No way. That’s why the Benghazi Committee needs to also look very closely at the emails on private accounts that Hillary’s closest aides, Huma Abedin and Cheryl Mills, maintained. Anything more than a few lines were most likely written by someone else on her behalf. There’s a reason why Hillary set up and used private emails with them for official business: all the important emails were likely written by her staff. Without access to them, we won’t know what was going on.

The Clintons never used the White House computer for their own work. Hillary even wrote (or copied) her book manuscripts in long hand. Although ghost writer Barbara Fineman was paid $120,000 for writing It Takes A Village, she proudly waved hundreds of hand-written pages on yellow legal pads to pretend she wrote it all herself. She never acknowledged Fineman’s work.

Bill can’t type either. When I wrote his 1995 State of the Union Speech, I typed it on an IBM Selectric that the White House dug up from the basement. He told me that he didn’t want me to put it in the official computer system, because then his staff would see it. So, he carefully copied every word in his distinctive left hand penmanship. I still have a copy of it. Then he pretended that he had written it himself.

The Clintons have figured out every which way to avoid disclosure of what they want to keep private. So don’t expect a smoking gun in Hillary’s emails…”

Speaking of Inconvenient Truths; as the great Thomas Sowell details, Hillary’s sycophants couldn’t even answer…

A Simple Question

Hillary-Clinton

“Don’t hate me because I’m not beautiful…or utterly and absolutely unaccomplished!”

It is amazing how a simple question can cause a complex lie to collapse like a house of cards. The simple question was asked by Bill O’Reilly of the Fox News Channel, and it was addressed to two Democrats. He asked what has Hillary Clinton ever accomplished.

The two Democrats immediately sidestepped the question and started reciting their talking points in favor of Hillary. But O’Reilly kept coming back to the fact that nothing they were talking about was an accomplishment.

For someone who has spent her entire adult life in politics, including being a Senator and then a Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton has nothing to show for all those years — no significant legislation of hers that she got passed in the Senate, and only an unbroken series of international setbacks for the United States during her time as Secretary of State…”

Oops; Hillary, we have a problem!

Meanwhile, as Noemie Emery notes at the Washington Examiner, whenever the Dims come up on the losing end of anything, it’s…

Deja vu once again

White-privilege

And impossible if you’re a Conservative!

“It never fails. Every time an election result disappoints liberals, it turns out to be due to scandalous methods, underhand tactics, duplicitous charges, and fear. Fear of what, you may ask? Nothing too serious. Fear of threats that turn out to be baseless (the Soviet Union, for instance), fear of the modern, fear of the other, fear of the new.

It’s never because the liberals did anything wrong. It’s always because they were made to have seemed to, by someone who tapped subconscious fears of something quite different – most often that old standby, race.

…Since racism was the only reason Nixon, Reagan, and both of the Bushes had ever been president, it clearly must also be the only reason Netanyahu is still the prime minister.

As American liberals, safe in their homes, projected their Tea Party fears onto strangers in a small country in a very tough neighborhood, Amir Tibon in the New Yorker talked to actual members of Netanyahu’s opposite parties, and asked them why they thought they had lost.

“One by one, the Knesset members offered their best guesses,” he wrote. “They all seemed to agree that the most obvious failure had been in their efforts to reach working class voters in the peripheral towns far from Tel Aviv. They were the people who had suffered most from Netanyahu’s economic agenda, and yet they had voted for him once again because they didn’t trust the left with Israel’s security.”

They were right not to. But this won’t move the Left, which thinks it knows betterand knows its adversaries for the bigots they aren’t.”

In a related item, writing at the WSJ, Bret Stephens details what, from the very beginning, has clearly been…

The Orwellian Obama Presidency

Under Mr. Obama, friends are enemies, denial is wisdom, capitulation is victory.

obama-slavery-is-freedom1

“The humiliating denouement to America’s involvement in Yemen came over the weekend, when U.S. Special Forces were forced to evacuate a base from which they had operated against the local branch of al Qaeda. This is the same branch that claimed responsibility for the January attack on Charlie Hebdo and has long been considered to pose the most direct threat to Europe and the United States.

So who should Barack Obama be declaring war on in the Middle East other than the state of Israel?

There is an upside-down quality to this president’s world view. (We’d suggest “Marxist” better describes it!) His administration is now on better terms with Iran—whose Houthi proxies, with the slogan “God is great, death to America, death to Israel, damn the Jews, power to Islam,” just deposed Yemen’s legitimate president—than it is with Israel. (Totally by design!) He claims we are winning the war against Islamic State even as the group continues to extend its reach into Libya, Yemen and Nigeria.

He treats Republicans in the Senate as an enemy when it comes to the Iranian nuclear negotiations, while treating the Russian foreign ministry as a diplomatic partner. He favors the moral legitimacy of the United Nations Security Council to that of the U.S. Congress. He is facilitating Bashar Assad’s war on his own people by targeting ISIS so the Syrian dictator can train his fire on our ostensible allies in the Free Syrian Army.

He was prepared to embrace a Muslim Brother as president of Egypt but maintains an arm’s-length relationship with his popular pro-American successor. He has no problem keeping company with Al Sharpton and tagging an American police department as comprehensively racist but is nothing if not adamant that the words “Islamic” and “terrorism” must on no account ever be conjoined. The deeper that Russian forces advance into Ukraine, the more they violate cease-fires, the weaker the Kiev government becomes, the more insistent he is that his response to Russia is working.

To adapt George Orwell’s motto for Oceania: Under Mr. Obama, friends are enemies, denial is wisdom, capitulation is victory…”

Gee, anyone else

obamastalinhitler

…detecting a pattern here?!?

In another item impacting the lead-up to November 8, 2016, courtesy of the Morning ExaminerByron York raises a question which may prove problematic for Jeb:

What did Jeb Bush do to fight Obamacare?

Jeb Bush Speaks At The Reagan Library About His New Book

“…In 2009 and early 2010, as Obamacare made its troubled way through Congress, Bush — a respected former two-term Republican governor of Florida with solid conservative credentials — remained mostly silent about the biggest public policy fight in a generation.

Bush statements that even tangentially touched on the Affordable Care Act were few and far between. In March 2009, for example, as the battle was just beginning, Bush penned an op-ed calling for conservatives to be the “loyal opposition” in the face of far-reaching Democratic initiatives. He added: “Simply opposing the massive encroachment of government into health care won’t solve the problem of affordability of health insurance for many Americans.” (Funny, tens of millions of us could afford it a helluva lot more back in 2009!)

…”He wasn’t in Congress,” Bush spokesman Tim Miller said when I asked what the former governor was doing in 2009 as far as Obamacare was concerned. “He did not have a very big footprint as a guy on the cable news circuit in the years after he left the governor’s office. He was focused on business.

One part of Bush’s business was a lucrative seat on the board of directors of the hospital giant Tenet Healthcare. Bush joined the company after leaving the governor’s office and was paid more than $2 million for his services between 2007 and last year, when he resigned to run for president. Tenet strongly supported the passage of Obamacare and has profited enormously from it…”

Oops.

And in International News of Note, proof The Left is, if anything, consistentworld-wide:

Tsipras raises Nazi war reparations claim at Berlin press conference with Merkel

Leftwing Greek leader makes call for damages at press conference with Angela Merkel as deadlock remains over bailout funds

shooty_greece-assistance_0

“Greece’s leftwing prime minister Alexis Tsipras stood beside German leader Angela Merkel and demanded war reparations over Nazi atrocities in Greece on Monday night, even as the two leaders sought to bury the hatchet following weeks of worsening friction and mud-slinging.

“It’s not a material matter, it’s a moral issue,” said Tsipras, unusually insisting on raising the “shadows of the past” at the heart of German power in the gleaming new chancellery in Berlin. It was believed to be the first time a foreign leader had gone to the capital of the reunified Germany to make such a demand.

Merkel was uncompromising, while appearing uncomfortable and irritated. “In the view of the German government, the issue of reparations is politically and legally closed,” she said…”

Leftists are cut from the same cloth; regardless of race, class, color, creed or…national origin!  Anyone with anything OWES them!

mccoy_toon-800x430

In Greece, it’s bogus war reparations to enable Greeks to continue to enjoy benefits they’ve neither earned nor can afford.  In America, it’s reparations for slavery, an evil with which no one in four generations has had any connection whatsoever.

Turning to the Left Coast, we learn…

Seattle restaurant industry warns of fallout as $15 minimum wage nears

Seattle_wage

“…Many owners are concerned over what the changes will mean for business. “It will be difficult to staff the front of the house as well as we have before,” Brendan McGill, the chef and owner of the Hitchcock Restaurant Group, told FoxNews.com.

Although McGill supports the minimum wage increase, he noted that, “less people will be fighting over each other to fill up your water.”

Brendan McGill: the very definition of an educated idiot; he knows something cannot possibly work, yet supports it nonetheless.

And from CNSNews via Drudge, a perspective on same-sex marriage you’ll never find presented anywhere in the MSM:

Woman Raised by Lesbian Couple: ‘I Ached Every Day For a Dad’

gay-cake

“…Barwick, who is 31 now, married, and has four children, said that “same-sex marriage and parenting withholds either a mother or father from a child while telling him or her that it doesn’t matter. That it’s all the same. But it’s not.”

“A lot of us, a lot of your kids, are hurting,” wrote Barwick in her essay forThe Federalist website. “My father’s absence created a huge hole in me, and I ached every day for a dad. I loved my mom’s partner, but another mom could never have replaced the father I lost.”

I grew up surrounded by women who said they didn’t need or want a man,” said Barwick. “Yet, as a little girl, I so desperately wanted a daddy. It is a strange and confusing thing to walk around with this deep-down unquenchable ache for a father, for a man, in a community that says that men are unnecessary.”

Barwick stressed that she loves her gay mother and gay people in general but that “the nature of the same-sex relationship” is what caused her to come out of her own closet and write the essay about why she does not support gay “marriage.”

“Gay marriage doesn’t just redefine marriage, but also parenting,” she says.  “It promotes and normalizes a family structure that necessarily denies us something precious and foundational. It denies us something we need and long for, while at the same time tells us that we don’t need what we naturally crave. That we will be okay. But we’re not. We’re hurting.”…”

Oh, by the way; lest you think Heather Barwick is some overweight, under-educated, Cheetos-eating, gun-toting, redneck Christian zealot…

Barwick

…not hardly.  Which is why you’ll never see her on CNN, MSLSD or any other MSM propaganda outlet.

Finally, we’ll call it a wrap with another sordid story straight from the pages of The Crime Blotter:

12-Year-Old Girl Accused of Trying to Poison Mother for Taking Away iPhone

hqdefault

Wait ’til she tries to take the car keys!

“…The woman first felt sick on March 2, after drinking a smoothie, according to the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office. While she noticed the smell of bleach from her glass, the woman assumed her daughter hadn’t rinsed it properly, according to the sheriff’s office. Then a few days later, the mother again recognized the smell of bleach coming from something she was going to drink and she confronted the pre-teen, the sheriff’s office said. The girl allegedly told her she wanted to kill her because she took away her iPhone, according to the sheriff’s office.

…On Friday, the 12-year-old was detained at the Boulder County Juvenile Center on two counts of attempted first-degree murder, according to the sheriff’s office. “She had pre-planned this a couple different times,” Sgt. Bill Crist of the sheriff’s office said.

Yeah…about as well as every one of The Obamao’s policies; and fortunately, at least for mom, about as effective.

We’ll be heading to Austin on a golf junket Thursday, so will be going radio silent for a week.  Until then…
