It’s Wednesday, June 3rd, 2015…but before we begin, The Obamao now wants to do for America’s increasingly-antiquated air traffic control system what he did to her once-thriving economy:

Affirmative Action Lands in the Air Traffic Control Tower

The Obama administration forces the Federal Aviation Administration to move away from merit-based hiring criteria.

Diversity Air Control

Two thoughts: first, we’d have thought the experiment occupying the Oval Office these last 6+ years would have conclusively proven the entire concept of Affirmative Action a hopeless fiasco.

Second, in the wake of this latest failure of Big Government…

…The Obamao’s latest emphasis on form over substance is just what the doctor ordered…were said physician prescribing a means to further undermine what little confidence the flying public still has in the “system”.  Then again, in the TSA’s defense, they’ve only had some 14 years and hundreds of billions of our tax dollars to get it right; and they have been preoccupied with more important security measures!

Now, here’s The Gouge!

First up, courtesy of NRO‘s Morning Jolt, Jim Geraghty offers his insight into Progressives’ inexplicable refusal to divorce themselves from The Grifters:

“…Then, the ZMan observed:

I prefer to look at the Clintons as an existential challenge to the American political class and the Progressive faith specifically. In the general sense, the ruling class’s inability to police itself is why the Clintons exist. A political class with a moral grounding would have cut off these two long before they made it to national politics. Instead, winning trumped ethics and these two were able to lever that to the top of the system.

The central issue is that Progressives lack the ability to police their ranks, other than the hunting of heretics. They are good at chasing off a guy like Juan Williams for apostasy, but they can’t figure out how to police common criminals like the Clintons. (We’d posit they’d simply rather not!)

That’s it in a nutshell, isn’t it? If Progressives actually stood for what they claim to stand for, they would be a lot less insufferable; or if they felt the effects of the rules they want enforced against themselves, they might be less eager to create those rules. If “speech codes” and prosecution for “hate speech” consistently punished them for speaking their mind, they would suddenly find a newfound appreciation for the First Amendment. They call for higher taxes, then neglect to pay five-figure tax bills; if they feared the IRS as confusing, unfair, and punitive the way we did, there might be a broader consensus on taxation.

They’re great at denouncing somebody else’s greed, but feel a sense of entitlement at their own. Unions demand a higher minimum wage, then demand an exemption from it under a collective-bargaining agreement. Vehement opponents of voucher programs refuse to send their kids to the local public schools. They reflexively denounce “wealthy elites” without ever acknowledging the fact that they’re wealthier and better-connected than most of the people they’re criticizing.

There’s a hollowness in the heart of modern progressivism, because the gap between the way they expect others to live and the way they live themselves is broad and only widening — and few within their ranks really want to confront it or discuss it openly.

Why?  Because they’re hopelessly hypocritical, irreversible ideologues; in other words, the very embodiment of the sins of which they, purposefully and with malice of forethought, slander Conservatives.

Here’s the juice: even were an unimpeachable, non-partisan source to produce a video in which Hillary unambiguously admitted selling out America for foreign lucre, the hardcore 47% Mitt Romney inadvisably but accurately cited would still…

…Seig Hillary.

HRC EMAILS: Federal officials voiced growing alarm over Clinton’s compliance with records laws, documents show

She was lying then; she’s lying now!

“…Appearing at a National Press Club panel discussion in April, Jason Baron, the attorney who formerly served as the director of litigation at NARA, expressed amazement that NARA officials had not done more to discharge their supervisory duty over Clinton’s recordkeeping practices.

I remain mystified by the fact that the use of a private e-mail account apparently went either unnoticed or unremarked upon during the four-year tenure in office of the former secretary,” said Baron, now in private practice at the firm of Drinker Biddle & Reath.Simply put, where was everyone? Is there any record indicating that any lawyer, any FOIA officer, any records person, any high-level official ever respectfully confronted the former secretary with reasonable questions about the practice of sending e-mails from a private account? It is unfathomable to me that this would not have been noticed and reported up the chain.”…”

Oh…

shrugging-obama

…never mind!

Next up, the WSJ‘s Bill McGurn reports how the only sure way to escape the eviscerating embrace of modern Liberalism is to get the hell out of Dodge…or any other Dimocratic-dominated dominion:

Best Poverty Cure: Escape From Baltimore

New evidence shows minorities now do better in the American South.

163299_600

Of all the “solutions” for post-riot Baltimore, the best—at least for African-Americans trapped in poverty—appears to be the one that attracts the least notice: Find a new town to call home.

The message comes via two new studies of upward mobility. The first is from Harvard’s The Equality of Opportunity Project. It finds that a poor child whose family leaves a bad neighborhood for a good one will have better long-term economic prospects.

The other, by Joel Kotkin’s Center for Opportunity Urbanism, measures (by median household income, self-employment, housing affordability and population growth) the best and worst cities for America’s racial minorities. Its finding puts self-styled progressives to shame: Of the top 15 cities for African-Americans today, 13 are in the former Confederacy.

Let’s not mince words. The Harvard study identifies Baltimore as the city where the odds are most stacked against a child’s escaping poverty. Mr. Kotkin says his center’s study underscores “the relative worthlessness of good intentions.” It also underscores the worthlessness of most of the conversations about Baltimore’s future.

CDwcNjhVIAA2J4p

Including anything uttered by an utterly useless poser of a President.

These include President Obama’s urging more federal “investment” in the city. Or MayorStephanie Rawlings-Blake’s looking to the Federal Emergency Management Agency for $20 million to pay for the riot damage. Or former Baltimore Mayor Martin O’Malley’s run for president on the same government-first orthodoxies that help explain all those boarded up buildings that Americans saw during last month’s televised riots.

For the people of Baltimore, meanwhile, reality remains bleak. This past weekend two double shootings upped Baltimore’s monthly murder total for May to the worst level since 1972. Is there anyone in America who really believes that the liberal narratives now invoked to explain Baltimore’s problems (mistrust of police, racial inequality, etc.) will lead to a revival of this once-prosperous port city?…”

Look, bottomline, here’s the problem:

To borrow a phrase from the immortal Harry Callahan…

And don’t ask questions later.

Moving on to the Environmental Moment, James Taranto details another amazing example of the truth of Romans 1:22:

One Man’s Irrigation Is Another Man’s Irritation

Liberal-or-Stupid

[New York Slimes columnist] Nicholas Kristof is worried that mankind is going to run out of water. It turns out that food production uses up a lot of the wet stuff:

I grew up on a sheep and cherry farm near Yamhill, Ore. I worked for a year for the Future Farmers of America, and I still spend time every year on our family farm. But while I prize America’s rural heritage, let’s be blunt: It’s time for a fundamental rethinking of America’s food factory.

A mandarin orange consumes 14 gallons of water. A head of lettuce, 12 gallons. A bunch of grapes, 24 gallons. One single walnut, 2 gallons.

Animal products use even more water, mostly because of the need to raise grain or hay to feed the animals. Plant material converts quite inefficiently into animal protein.

So a single egg takes 53 gallons of water to produce. A pound of chicken, 468 gallons. A gallon of milk, 880 gallons. And a pound of beef, 1,800 gallons of water. . . .

Like most Americans, I eat meat, but it’s worth thinking hard about the inefficiency in that hamburger patty—and the small lake that has dried up to make it possible.

If only there were a way to replenish the supply of water… Well, great news, there is! From London’s Daily Mail:

The next time you reach for a glass of water, remember this; you could be about to sip on dinosaur pee. This is according to science YouTube channel, Curious Minds, which explains that the amount of water on the Earth has remained roughly the same for millions of years. Around 121,000 cubic miles of water falls on the Earth in the form of precipitation every year, meaning this water has moved around the planet.

The Mesozoic era, the reign of the dinosaurs, lasted around 186 million years. ”That gave them time to drink a lot of water,” the video explains.

So prehistoric reptiles were able to find the solution that eludes Nick Kristof. He also reports that “until recently, the federal government paid me, a New York journalist, $588 a year not to grow crops in Oregon.” At least he found something he’s good at.

As Paul so presciently wrote some 2,000 years ago, “Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools.”  And there truly is no bigger fool than an educated Liberal!

WV teacher threatened with fine for violating Michelle O’s school snack rules

Michelle-Obama-cookie-337x244

“Students and parents are rallying to the defense of a teacher who is accused of violating federal school snack rules. The Williamson PreK-8 teacher, who was not identified, would give her students “wrapped candy” as a reward for their hard work and good behavior.

Because the practice was an alleged violation of the federal rules championed by first lady Michelle Obama, Mingo County Schools Director of Child Nutrition Kay Maynard “placed a call to officials at the West Virginia Department of Education (WVDE) to report the incident,” the Williamson Daily News reports. Maynard also spoke to Williamson PreK-8 principal Shannon Blackburn, telling him about the possibility of a monetary fine for the teacher.

Those rules state that food, such as “wrapped candy,” cannot be used as “a reward and it cannot be withheld as a punishment.” Administrators with Mingo County Schools claim the federal rules were developed “to help educators encourage students to make healthy decisions.” If they’re not strictly followed, schools can be required to return federal school lunch money, be penalized for state and federal food service programs, or make all schools in the county vulnerable to similar punishment.”

Thus does an unelected, Constitutionally-unempowered ideologue dictate how America not only lives and learns, but eats.

And all the while Moochie continues to carry more weight in her backside…
