It’s Monday, December 7th, 2015, the 74th anniversary of a date which still lives in infamy.

Yet, devastating as the surprise attack on Pearl Harbor was, the damage inflicted upon our Military that Sunday morning and the threat the perpetrators posed to America doesn’t come close to the calamity visited upon both on January 20th, 2009:

…November 8th, 2016!

Now, here’s The Gouge!

First up, the WSJ identifies a reality with which many Americans are only now, rather belatedly, coming to grips:

The Terror This Time

The FBI confirms what President Obama refuses to admit.

BN-LO631_1terro_J_20151204180907

In a state of total confusion…or completely in cahoots?!?

President Obama entered the White House believing that the “war on terror” was a misguided overreaction driven by political fear, and his government even stopped using the term. Seven years later Mr. Obama is presiding over a global jihadist revival that now threatens the American homeland more than at any time since the attacks of September 11, 2001.

Every instinct of this Administration, starting with the President, has been to minimize the terror risk on U.S. soil—perhaps because it contradicts Mr. Obama’s political belief that all we have to fear is fear of terrorism itself.

The President made this explicit in his May 23, 2013 speech at National Defense University in which he said Americans should move past the country’s post-9/11 war footing and compared the Islamist terror threat to “many forms of violent extremism in our history.” Few speeches in presidential history have been repudiated so quickly by events.

San Bernardino is an example of the domestic terror nightmare that Mr. Comey has been warning against as he’s told Congress about the thousands of Americans who are now Islamic State sympathizers. That neither Pakistani-American Syed Farook, born in Illinois, nor Tashfeen Malik, his wife by way of Saudi Arabia, was on the FBI’s watch list is all the more worrisome. Their quiet stockpiling of guns, ammo and bomb-making material even as they led seemingly average lives shows that the U.S. may have a larger problem of homegrown terrorism than the government has wanted to admit.

Americans have tended to think they are safer than Europeans and their Muslim immigrant enclaves of Saint-Denis, Molenbeek and Birmingham. But by the account of his friends and even his family, Farook gave no hint of radical conversion until he mowed down the same colleagues who had thrown his wife a baby shower. He shows that jihad is possible even among native-born Americans who give every sign of abiding by U.S. norms.

Terrorism isn’t new to our shores; the couple who helped launch The Obamao’s political career…

13153194132888ayers-dohrn-then-now

…is proof of that.  But the Weather Underground was relative background noise; certainly capable of killing innocent Americans, yet never possessed of the appeal to develop an organization large enough to wreak widespread havoc.

Radical Islam represents a threat unlike any we’ve ever faced, particularly given the number of potential terrorists our government has already brought into the country.  Even those Japanese residing in America at the outbreak of WWII still loyal to the Emperor never started slaughtering Americans, not even after the onset of hostilities.

This is a new type of enemy, one who will require new tactics and strategies to successfully defeat.

The problem posed by ISIS and Al Queda brings to mind a conversation we once had with our two oldest sons Jon and Mike regarding their uncle, our brother, Jeff.

For those of you unfamiliar with the McKee family history, our father, Paul McKee, was an All-American at Syracuse who played for the Redskins between service with the Marines at the tail of WWII and Korea.  Jeff, the youngest of five, was truly his father’s son; utterly fearless of contact and conflict.  Though a 1st-team All-American lacrosse defenseman at Syracuse, it’s our belief, absent a debilitating knee injury in high school, Jeff had the physical skills and attitude for a successful career in professional football.

The boys questioned whether we could “take” Uncle Jeff, to which we responded, “You don’t understand what you’re asking.  There’s no “taking” Uncle Jeff.”  As we went on to explain, like Ace Rothstein said of Nicky Santoro in Casino

The point being, there’s no half-way with this creatures.  Because, absent complete and total eradication, like crabgrass, lice or any other unwanted weed or vermin, they’ll keep keep coming back.

And seriously: his meaningless meanderings from the Offal Office this evening notwithstanding, we dare Barry to explain how the U.S. Military is going to prevent the next San Bernardino when HE himself continues to grant enemy combatants unfettered access to the Heartland!!!

Think about it: assuming for the moment only 1% of the Islamic immigrants granted legal residency in 2009 alone are die-hard extremists (and based upon every meaningful statistic we’ve ever seen, 10% is a far more accurate estimation!), this means the Obama Administration gave some 1,150 sworn enemies of the United States means and opportunity to slaughter its citizens.

At the risk of repeating ourselves, or, heaven forbid, sounding alarmist, this is more than…

It’s utter and absolute madness!!!

By willfully ignoring, indeed deliberately misrepresenting the character and nature of this enemy, and the unparalleled threat it poses, this President and his Party are not only violating their oaths of office, but placing politics above the lives of ordinary Americans.

And for that, all kidding aside, they need to be tried for treason and deserve to be shot.

Since we’re on the subject of guns and shootings, there are yet other issues about which The Left bloviates in complete and utter ignorance, as depicted in these next three gems.

(1). California’s Loretta Sanchez:

“Multi-automatic round weapons”: the firearm of choice for mass murderers since the Chinese first invented them…along with gunpowder.

(2). Kevin de Leon, President pro temp of the California State Senate:

Yes, de Leon’s .30-calibre-clipped “ghost gun” with a firing rate of 60 rounds/second is phantasmal indeed; in fact, it’s pure fantasy!

(3). MSLSD’s Don Lemon exhibits an ignorance of the subject under discussion we’ve come to expect from the MSM in general, but any NBC affiliate or CNN in particular:

The Left’s definition of “semantics”: a word here, a phrase here, and suddenly you’re talking myth rather than reality!

Meanwhile, the reality is far more accurately depicted as this graphic courtesy of Jeff Foutch suggests:

Next, in a follow-up to our earlier offerings detailing The Marxist-in-Chief’s deliberate decimation of America’s Military, the editors at NRO sound a similar warning:

The Obama Pentagon’s Disastrous Decision on Women in Combat

moody&kuntz

And why they shouldn’t be in combat!

With its decision mandating that the Pentagon open all combat jobs to women, the Obama administration has put social justice over combat readiness.

Speaking at a press conference yesterday, Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter made it clear that the military would be fully gender-integrated. “There will be no exceptions,” he said. “As long as they qualify and meet the standards,” women can serve in the infantry, in the special forces, and in any other military capacity in each branch of service, including the Marine Corps.

Carter made this decision in spite of extensive evidence — put forward by the Marines — that mixed-gender units were less capable than their all-male counterparts. They were less accurate with their weapons, the women were twice as likely to be injured, and mixed-gender units were less capable of evacuating the wounded from the battlefield. Indeed, the strongest women were only as strong as the weakest men(Other than that, how’d you enjoy the play, Mrs. Lincoln?!?)

A public and political class largely insulated from the realities of ground combat has become ignorant of its excruciating and unforgiving physical demands. Prolonged infantry operations — including operations common in the War on Terror — place immense strains on the mind and body. Unit cohesion is critical, and physical breakdowns can be costly both to combat power and to unit morale…”

Not to mention casualty rates and national security; not that either matters to the current Commander-in-Chief.

Moving on to other Progressive sleight-of-hand, writing at the WSJ, Kimberly Strassel details…

Justice’s Liberal Slush Fund

Legal settlements are being used to funnel millions to left-wing activists like La Raza.

DOJ-300x300

“Republicans talk often about using the “power of the purse” to rein in a lawless Obamaadministration. If they mean it, they ought to use their year-end spending bill to stop a textbook case of outrageous executive overreach.

This scandal comes courtesy of the Justice Department, which for 16 months has engaged in a scheme to undermine Congress’s spending authority by independently transferring dollars to President Obama’s political allies. The department is in the process of funneling more than half-a-billion dollars to liberal activist groups, at least some of which will actively support Democrats in the coming election.

It works likes this: The Justice Department prosecutes cases against supposed corporate bad actors. Those companies agree to settlements that include financial penalties. Then Justice mandates that at least some of that penalty money be paid in the form of “donations” to nonprofits that supposedly aid consumers and bolster neighborhoods.

The Justice Department maintains a list of government-approved nonprofit beneficiaries. And surprise, surprise: Many of them are liberal activist groups. The National Council of La Raza. The National Urban League. The National Community Reinvestment Coalition. NeighborWorks America (which awards grants to left-leaning community organization groups, and has been compared with Acorn).

…To further induce companies to go the donation route, Justice considers these handouts to be worth “double credit” against penalty obligations. So while direct forms of victim relief are still counted dollar-for-dollar, a $500,000 donation by BofA to La Raza takes at least $1 million off the company’s bill.

The purpose of financial penalties is to punish, and to provide restitution to real victims. The Justice Department would make the case that this money is flowing to groups that aid the targets of supposed banking abuse, such as homeowners. But that assumes the work these groups do is targeted at actual victims—which it isn’t. It assumes that the work these groups do in housing is nonpartisan—which it isn’t. And it ignores that money is fungible. (The old Planned Parenthood dodge!) Every dollar banks donate to the housing arms of the Urban League or La Raza is a dollar those groups can free up to wage an assault on voter ID laws, or to help out Democrats.

This is the Obama administration riding roughshod over the most basic of congressional powers—those of spending and oversight. Adding to the insult, Justice is routing money back to programs that congressional Republicans deliberately stripped of funds. In 2011 Republicans eliminated the Housing Department’s $88 million for “housing counseling” programs, which spread around money to groups like La Raza. Congress subsequently restored only $45 million, and has maintained that level. These bank settlements pour some $30 million into housing counseling groups, thereby essentially restoring all the funding.

It’s also a classic Obama end run around the law….”

No wonder, as a Pew Research study recently revealed, the favorable rating for the Department of Justice is just 46%; 46%!  And you can rest assured the majority of the country who holds it in disfavor doesn’t disapprove because Eric Holder’s successor is pursuing too many IRS employees or racist cops.

Which brings us, appropriately enough, to two titillating tales torn from what is best described as a cross between Tales From the Darkside and The Crime Blotter.  First, Exhibit “A”:

Bridgeport Officer Who Reported Racist Letter Wrote It: Police

Clive+Higgins+letter+1200

“A former Bridgeport police officer who claimed someone left a racist memo on police letterhead in his mailbox at headquarters in February admitted to writing the letter himself and has been charged with filing a false report, according to police.

Former Officer Clive Higgins reported that he found a racist hate letter in his police mailbox the morning of Monday, Feb. 9 and feared for his life because of it. The letter, printed on paper marked with the department’s official letterhead, started off with “WHITE POWER” and went on to say “Officer Clive Higgins doesn’t belong here in this Police Department” and “These Black Officers belong in the toilet.”

The report of the racist letter prompted the Bridgeport Guardians, a minority officers’ organization, to hold a news conference, calling the letter “racial, insensitive and threatening.” They said it was the most recent of at least three hateful notes to circulate within the department within a year.

State police were called in to investigate and reviewed surveillance from the station, which they said showed Higgins typing and printing documents just before going into the room where he said he found the letter, according to the report…”

Second, Exhibit “B”:

Twitter threats to black Kean students made by black alum, police say

aaeaaqaaaaaaaam5aaaajdzjnzczm2rmlwe4mjutndi2mi05mjqwlwjkmzvhoti0mmziywjpg-b413d5f0cd49feb2

“…Kayla-Simone McKelvey, 24, of Union – a black alum who graduated in May – was charged by summons with third-degree creating a false public alarm.

Park said an investigation by the Union County Prosecutor’s Office’s Special Prosecutions Unit and Kean University police found that McKelvey, a self-proclaimed activist, participated in a student rally to raise awareness of racism on college campuses on Nov. 17, but left midway through and walked to a computer station in a university library.

Once there, McKelvey allegedly created an anonymous Twitter account and began posting threats of violence against black Kean students…”

Here’s the best part:

Kean President Dawood Farahi spoke to students Tuesday afternoon during a previously planned campus discussion at the student center. He called the tweets a “heinous crime” and said, “We are saddened the person allegedly responsible was an active participant (of the demonstration) and a former student. No cause, no cause, can give anybody the right to threaten others.”

How ’bout “No cause, no cause can give anybody the right to LIE and create FALSIFIED CLAIMS OF RACISM?!?

Far too much to ask in an atmosphere where, as PJ Media reports, it’s possible that…

Obama Names Hamas Sympathizer as New ISIS Czar

The appointee, Robert Malley, has a history of sympathizing with Islamists, which makes the appointment all the more appalling…”

Greenpeace Co-Founder Patrick Moore: Skeptics Are The New ‘Thin Green Line’

weatherchanges

“…If I were in the unfortunate position of having no scientific arguments left to support my case that’s exactly the kind of sad and desperate smear job I’d resort to as well.

Probably, I’d add that “deniers” smell of wee-wee (or poo-poo, if I really wanted to drive the point home); and, if at all possible, I’d try to follow the example of luminaries like President Obama, Sen. Bernie Sanders and the Prince of Wales and hint gently that these disgusting people were also kinda, sorta responsible for the Paris massacre and the San Bernardino massacre because by denying the reality of man-made global warming they helped cause the alleged “drought” in the Middle East which drove thousands of law-abiding, peace-loving Muslims straight into the arms of Islamic State.

Luckily for me, though, I’m not in that unfortunate position. Rather I’m on the side of the argument which has pretty much everything going for it: the science, the economics, the moral high ground, the intellectual credibility, the wit, charm and tell-it-like-it-is fearlessness…But, yes, most of all what we have on my side of the argument are the facts.

There were lots of these at the Paris Climate Challenge conference – the kind of hard, verifiable scientific ones which simply weren’t available to the people up the road at the COP21 event. Facts like:

The lack of observational evidence for “man-made” global warming.

The 19-year “pause” in global warming which none of the alarmists’ models predicted.

The increasingly strong evidence to suggest that the sun – and solar cycles – are a far more significant (and woefully underacknowledged) driver of climate change than the trace gas CO2.

Presenting these facts was an array of erudite figures – some of them, amateur enthusiasts like blogger Donna Laframboise, long-range weather forecaster Piers Corbyn (brother of Labour leader Jeremy, recently shown telling it like it is on to Andrew Neil on the BBC One This Week programme) and blogger Roger “Tallbloke” Tattersall; some of them distinguished academics, such as marine geologist Bob Carter and IPCC lead author and sea level expert Nils-Axel Mörner.

I grant you, apart from Laframboise, none of them is ever likely to win a beauty contest. But if you ever had to put them in a debate with anyone on the other side of the argument – Michael Mann, James Hansen, David Suzuki, Al Gore, whoever – they would win hands down on points simply because (and this really can’t be stressed often enough) the alarmists have no points. None. The science abandoned them years ago which is why now they’re so painfully, pitifully reliant on closed events like COP21…”

The theory of anthropogenic global warming isn’t “science”, it’s not even junk science; it’s a joke…and a bad one at that.

Which brings us, finally, to the Lighter Side…
