Melissa Harris-Perry Brings Parody to Life, Calls ‘Star Wars’ Racist

MSNBC’s Melissa Harris-Perry recently launched into a rant calling Star Wars racist. I’d say you can’t make this stuff up, except that Kevin Smith did back in 1997.

In his third film, Chasing Amy, Smith wrote a scene in which a black comic book author masquerading as a militant racialist goes on a profanity-laced tirade against “the holy trilogy.” The whole saga was alleged to be about a “klan” of white people trying to take down the black Darth Vader.

What Kevin Smith presented as comedy two decades ago has just been replicated seriously by a cable news network Sunday morning host. Harris-Perry’s take on Star Wars bears an uncanny resemblance to Chasing Amy. It’s another example of parody predicting reality in our increasingly idiotic cultural discourse.

Meanwhile, yet another example of the devestating damage being done…

Washington’s Willful Ignorance

What they refused to ask Tashfeen Malik.

Fearing a civil liberties backlash and “bad public relations” for the Obama administration, Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson refused in early 2014 to end the secret U.S. policy that prohibited immigration officials from reviewing the social media messages of all foreign citizens applying for U.S. visas, according to a former senior department official.”

Now, here’s The Gouge!

First up, courtesy of Townhall.com, Kurt Schlichter warns those still inexplicably enamored of The Donald…

Trump Is Going To Break Your Heart

1421543035774081707

“…Pretend I’m your buddy and we’re at a bar and I’m the guy who, among your friends, drew the short straw and has to tell you that your girlfriend is the antichrist. And, Trump people, I am your friend. You, by and large, aren’t traditional conservatives like I am, but you’re hard-working, loyal patriots, veterans and cops, the people who defended this country and who built it regardless of what that fool in the White House says. We agree on much more than we disagree on, and if I was back in a foxhole I’d choose one of you as a battle buddy any day over those simpering GOPe femboys or, heaven forbid, some safe space-dwelling liberal.

But I gotta be straight with you – Trump’s bad news, and everyone else sees it. He’s using you, and he’s going to toss you away when he’s done and never look back. Break it off before it’s too late – this is just a fling, and if it keeps up one day you’re going to find your wallet missing and probably your car too. And you’ll wake up with a political rash.

Donald Trump is out for one thing, Donald Trump’s personal aggrandizement. He cares nothing about you. He cares nothing about your aspirations and dreams. Don’t misunderstand him when he pays attention to you. He’s just trying to get what he wants from you, an earth-shattering ego stroke.

Trump believes in nothing, which is why he will say anything. That’s why he’s all over the map, varying his positions not only year-to-year, month-to-month, week-to-week, but even hour-to-hour. First he wants to send all Mexicans home, then maybe not all Mexicans, then yes, all Mexicans, then no, not the great ones. The same with Muslims. One minute it’s every Muslim gets excluded, then the next minute no, we’re going to let some of them back. Who knows what will be tomorrow. I do – whatever gets him the most attention.

pbpdh

When he dumps you, when he goes back to the New York liberal roots that are at the core of his being and starts talking about how he’s decided to switch back to his old positions, that it’s reasonable to take your guns, to liberalize immigration, and to keep Obamacare, you’re going to feel like fools. You’re going to be humiliated. And the GOP establishment, which is terrible, is going to be looking at you saying, “I told you so.”

You can do better. The failures of the Republican donor and consultant class created Donald Trump. They made you furious, and you have every right to be furious. They have treated you like dirt and it’s no surprise you picked up The Donald on the rebound. But the answer to being treated like a doormat by a bunch of buttoned-down twits is not to embrace somebody who believes in exactly nothing of what you believe in. You can totally do better. There are plenty of fish in the sea, and they aren’t all named Jeb.

Trump doesn’t want to make America great. He doesn’t want to make you great. He wants to make you tell him that he’s great. He doesn’t love you, any more than the stripper in the Champagne Room loves you when you’ve still got money in your wallet.

Sure, that’s another deeply disturbing image, but not as deeply disturbing as the image of Donald Trump taking his ego trip on the road in a third-party or otherwise ensuring the election of Hillary Clinton. Just like a gold-digging tramp might leave you with a little something that all the antibiotics in the world can’t cure, Donald Trump may leave you with Hillary Clinton, and that means the end of everything you say you stand for.

Don’t give Donald Trump your heart. He’s only going to break it.”

You’ll forgive us for not worrying about the shattered emotions of his supporters; we’re far more concerned with Trump taking the rest of us down…

…in the process!

Here’s the juice: just like Barack Hussein Obama, you cannot trust a single word Donald John Trump, Sr. utters; he will say or do anything to feed his insatiable ego and unquenchable thirst for power.

Case in point, albeit on a significantly smaller scale, as Hot Air reveals what the political promise of a contemporary Progressive actually means in practice:

Wendy Davis: Why I lied through my teeth when running for Governor of Texas

BenikAsCcAAlGaf

Say, do you all remember Wendy Davis? No? She was the lady with the pink sneakers who filibustered an abortion bill in Texas once, then ran for governor and wound up doing about as well as your average armadillo trying to cross an eight lane interstate during rush hour after accidentally eating ten hits of LSD. She’s written an editorial for Politico this week with the title, Why I Caved on Guns When I Ran for Governor of Texas. It’s a heartfelt tale of sorrow from her perspective, but it might have been more accurately labeled, Hey, Sorry That I Lied Through My Teeth to All of You During That Election.

I am a lifelong Democrat. I proudly boast an “F” rating from the NRA. And, yet during my 2014 gubernatorial campaign in Texas, I supported the open carry of handguns in my stateIt is a position that haunts me.

In some ways this is almost refreshing. Usually when politicians lie to us they find some way to triangulate their answers later on or dance on the head of a pin and quibble over terminology. Davis is at least being honest enough (now) to come out and admit that she lied to the people of her state in an effort to trick them into voting her into the highest office in Texas so she could work against their interests. But it’s not an honorable act because she makes it quite clear that she’s not sorry about lying. She’s sorry that she lost and she’s sorry that she “let down” the anti-gun movement by being a phony. It’s really not an apology at all.”

Since we’re on the subject of lying Liberals (as if they come any other way!), writing at the Washington Examiner, Michael Barone suggests…

Questions Legitimate Journalists Should Be Asking Hillary Clinton

download-76-540x368

“…On ABC News’s This Week last Sunday George Stephanopoulos, a former Clinton White House aide, asked the candidate, “Did you tell them it was about the film?” “No,” Clinton said.

To believe that Clinton’s “no” is not a lie, you have to believe that multiple individuals each misremembered what the U.S. secretary of state had said to them. Or that members of three different families, struck by tragedy, got together and conspired to invent and spread an identical story that would someday embarrass her. Or that this is somehow the result of a vast right-wing conspiracy.

Journalists, if they are more interested in determining the truth than in making sure Clinton is elected president, should ask her if she believes any of these things.

Hillary-PSI

There’s another area where journalists ought to be pressing Clinton for answers. On December 3 a New Hampshire voter — not a journalist — asked her, “You say that all rape victims should be believed. But would you say that Juanita Broaddrick, Kathleen Willey, and Paula Jones be believed as well?” All three in the 1990s accused Bill Clinton of acts that constitute sexual assault or harassment.

Well,” replied Hillary Clinton, “I would say that everyone should be believed at first until they are disbelieved based on evidence.”

The obvious follow-up is: What evidence? Anything beyond Bill Clinton’s denials? Even after he had to retract his denials of sex with Monica Lewinsky and chose to settle a lawsuit brought by Paula Jones?

Hillary Clinton has not answered all the legitimate questions that can be asked about these matters. (Hells bells; she hasn’t answered any, at least not truthfully!!!) Legitimate journalists should keep asking them until she does.

Paris accords: The green light for utility transformation

CHNov2015FinalRetinaHeader

“…But that in no way leaves utilities on the sidelines. In fact, what it should do is give utility CEOs the courage to push their regulators to approve plans to integrate solar, wind, battery and whatever’s next into the grid.

While not a binding deal, the compact struck in Paris is the opening, the sign that utilities can use again and again to justify experimenting and embracing the latest innovations into their rate cases before PUCs across the land.

And so if you’re a utility CEO, that means this is now the time to get creative, to push that old envelope, to embrace your inner geek and, yes, maybe even have some fun trying to take that gift that emerged from Pearl Street to the next level.

So spend, spend, spend; after all, it’s not like it’s your

…money!

Second, a dose of hard, cold reality from Bjorn Lomborg writing at Forbes

We have a Treaty – but at what cost?

unnamed

“…The Paris Treaty promises to keep temperature rises below 2°C. However, the actual promises made here will do almost nothing to achieve that. It is widely accepted that to keep temperature rises below 2°C, we have to reduce CO₂ emissions by 6,000Gt. The UNFCCC estimates that if every country makes every single promised Paris Treaty carbon cut between 2016 and 2030 to the fullest extent possible and there is no carbon leakage, CO₂ emissions will be cut by 56 Gt by 2030.

The math is simple: in an implausibly optimistic best-case scenario, Paris leaves 99% of the problem in place.

To say that Paris will get us to 2°C is cynical posturing at best. It relies on wishful thinking. It’s like going on a diet to slim down, but declaring victory after the first salad.

Paris will be extraordinarily costly. It is likely this is the most expensive treaty in the history of the world.

…Claims that carbon cuts will be free or even generate economic growth don’t stack up given today’s technology. Every economic model shows real costs. If not, we wouldn’t need the Paris treaty: every nation would stampede to voluntarily cut CO₂ and get rich….”

This from a guy who believes in the junk science of anthropogenic global warming; imagine if, like us, he thought it total bunk?!?

Earlier we were conversing with G. Trevor, Lord High King of All the Vietors, who brought up an interesting point; you’re telling us the leader of every nation on Earth buys into this patent bullsh*t?!?  Baloney!!!

What’s in it for them?!?  Granted, they didn’t really agree to anything; but why go to the time and expense of maintaining what is so obviously a charade?!?

We smell a rat; there’s way more here than meets the eye…or is being reported by a Press so obviously in the pocket of the Progressives pushing the policy.

EPA Broke the Law by Using Social Media to Push Water Rule, Auditor Finds

1st-EPA-spill-GRAPHIC-600x329

The Environmental Protection Agency engaged in “covert propaganda” in violation of federal law when it blitzed social media to urge the general public to support President Obama’s controversial rule intended to better protect the nation’s streams and surface waters, congressional auditors have concluded.

The ruling by the Government Accountability Office, which opened its investigation after a report in The New York Times on the agency’s practices, served as a cautionary tale to federal agencies about the perils of getting too active in using social media to push a cause. Federal laws prohibit agencies from engaging in lobbying and propaganda. It also emerged as Republican leaders moved to block the so-called Waters of the United States clean-water rule through an amendment to the enormous spending bill expected to pass in Congress this week.

Thomas Reynolds, who as communications director at the EPA moved to add political campaign-style tactics to the agency’s public relations operation, has recently moved to the White House…”

For a moment we wondered, if the EPA broke the law, who’s going to jail?  Silly us!  In the Obama Administration lawbreakers don’t go to jail; they either get promoted…
