It’s Wednesday, August 17th, 2016…and if we don’t seem to be completely up to speed on the latest and greatest, it’s because we’re going to press a little earlier than usual so as to catch the Orioles vs. the Red Sox at Camden Yards.

Now, here’s The Gouge!

First up, yet another sterling example the contempt with which Progressivism’s elite view the rule of law:

Pennsylvania Gov. Wolf asks convicted attorney general to resign

54235cac9fee4.image

“No, seriously: Obama and the Clintons have been getting away with the same sh*t for decades, and I’m facing time?!?

“Pennsylvania’s governor is renewing his call for the state’s attorney general to resign now that she’s been convicted of all nine charges against her in a perjury and obstruction case related to a grand jury leak. Democratic Gov. Tom Wolf calls it a “sad day” for Pennsylvania after Monday night’s verdict. He says “there should be no question” that Democrat Kathleen Kane should resign immediately.

Kane is the first Democrat and first woman elected to the office…”

UPDATE: Kane has since resigned, but for months prior to her conviction she refused to do so, even though a Pennsylvania court had disbarred her, and she was thus unable to perform any of her professional duties as AG.

But she had received an endorsement from former President Bill Clinton; so she’s got that going for her…

‘Nuff said!

Next, as we learn from New York’s Daily News

Suspected shooter in Queens slaying of Imam and friend taken into police custody, may have been settling score in Muslim-Hispanic feud

“The killer who crept up behind an imam and his friend near a Queens mosque and shot both men in the head may have been settling a score in a feud between Muslims and Hispanics, police sources said early Monday…Sources pointed to an ongoing feud between Muslims and Hispanics in the neighborhood, saying the shooting may have been payback after a group of Muslims allegedly attacked some Hispanics a few weeks earlier.

Yet such sources didn’t stop mayor de Blowmeo from offering highly suspect observations on the level of anti-Islamic hatred in the Big Apple:

“While we do not yet know the motivation for the murders of Maulama Akonjee and Thara Uddin, we do know that our Muslim communities are in the perpetual cross hairs of bigotry.”

Yeah,…and the Cambridge cops acted stupidly, Michael Brown was shot in the back with his hands up and Freddie Gray should be beatified. UPDATE: The suspect, now identified as one Oscar Morel, 35, has no known grievance against Muslims.

Meanwhile, the Emperor with no apparel continues to fiddle…

Just Playing Through 1

…whilst Rome burns.

Speaking of grievances, as Kurt Schlichter notes at Townhall.com, well-meaning Conservatives should never allow anyone as asinine as The Donald to create a rift of any magnitude between them:

#NeverTrump vs. #NeverHillary: A Time For Hugging

_85478334_gettyimages-487400420

“Here’s the thing – a slight majority of my friends in the conservative sphere are #NeverTrump and disagree with my reluctant conclusion that voting for Trump is slightly less devastating to America than abstaining in light of Felonia Milhous von Pantsuit’s looming regime. And I intend to remain friends with them. Our enemies would love to divide us forever, and I refuse to let that happen. If it does, it will be someone else’s choice. If all of us refuse to be permanently torn asunder, if all of us refuse to choose to let our strategic and tactical disagreements drive a wedge between us, then we won’t be torn apart. And when the smoke clears in November, however it goes, we can fight on together.

Now, I spend a tiny bit of time on Twitter, and it can get intense. People disagree about the proper reaction to the The Donald. Some board the Trump Train, and others want to blow up the tracks and derail it. I think of myself as embracing the least-worst option, pumping on a hand car behind the caboose, occasionally weeping.

Let me be the first to admit that it boggles my mind when people don’t see how clearly, unequivocally, and completely correct my position is. Yet, the people who have come to a different conclusion also suffer mind boggling when people don’t see how clearly, unequivocally, and completely correct they are. (Though, let us state unequivocally, in the case of Trump, they’re wrong!!!) It’s almost like people of good faith can look at the same evidence and come to different conclusions.

I am simply not going to disregard people I’ve read and listened to for years because we disagree on this one thing. That’s crazy talk. In fact, I’m going to read and listen to them more closely because echo chambers where you hear only what you want to hear tend to make you dumb. Look, the guys I disagree with have some good points – regardless of whether any of them think I have any good points. Ben Shapiro, Jim Geraghty, Jonah Goldberg and Bill Kristol are suddenly wrong about everything because I think they are wrong about one thing? That’s an actively stupid notion, and I refuse to embrace it…”

Now Hillary and Obama voters/backers are an entirely different story!

Here’s the juice: we wholeheartedly agree with Kurt’s sentiment…though it doesn’t make the #NeverTrumpers less wrong about either passively or actively supporting the contemporary equivalent of all the Biblical plagues of Egypt…

…rolled into one pant-suited package.

We must also once again voice our disagreement with those who maintain just because America’s weathered every previous storm to strike our shores, we’re immune from the same forces which have heretofore brought down every previous global hegemon.  There’s only so much a society can take before it collapses upon itself…and we may already be past that tipping point.

Since we’re on the subject of the Wicked Witch of the West Wing, in the It Was Only A Matter Of Time segment, Politico reports…

Citing Clinton, sailor seeks leniency in submarine photos case

300px-USS_Alexandria_(SSN-757)

A Navy sailor facing the possibility of years in prison for taking a handful of classified photos inside a nuclear submarine is making a bid for leniency by citing the decision not to prosecute Hillary Clinton over classified information authorities say was found in her private email account.

Petty Officer First Class Kristian Saucier, 29, is set to be sentenced Friday on a single felony charge of retaining national defense information without permission. In May, Saucier pleaded guilty in federal court in Bridgeport, Conn., admitting that while working on the U.S.S. Alexandria in 2009 he took and kept six photos showing parts of the sub’s propulsion system he knew to be classified.

The defense and prosecutors agree that sentencing guidelines in the case call for a prison term of 63 to 78 months, but defense attorney Derrick Hogan cited the treatment of Clinton as he argued in a filing last week that Saucier should get probation instead.

“Democratic Presidential Candidate and former Secretary of State Hilary [sic] Clinton…has come under scrutiny for engaging in acts similar to Mr. Saucier,” Hogan wrote. He noted that FBI Director James Comey said 110 emails in 52 email chains in Clinton’s account contained information deemed classified at the time, including eight chains with “top secret” information and 36 with “secret” information. “In our case, Mr. Saucier possessed six (6) photographs classified as ‘confidential/restricted,’ far less than Clinton’s 110 emails,” Hogan wrote. It will be unjust and unfair for Mr. Saucier to receive any sentence other than probation for a crime those more powerful than him will likely avoid.”

In what should be a related item, the WSJ reports…

Justice Department Uncovers Evidence of Criminal Acts in VW Probe

Hillary VW

But no such unearthing as regards Hillary’s use of a series of patently-illegal private email servers; REALLY?!?  Perhaps if Hillary had been driving a Volkswagen when she bought the servers…?!?

Then there’s this forward from Breitbart via Tom Bakke, which is well worth your consideration:

Why Read the Benghazi Brief? Thoughts From The Author, Me…

benghazi-1

The Benghazi Brief is easily the most painstaking undertaking I ever endeavored to research, accept and eventually write.  It was not a comfortable assembly. The Brief was written almost two years ago:

It was written well before Mike Rogers and Charles Ruppersberger produced their self-serving, pre-retirement, diversionary distraction/report.

It was written before the House Select Committee on Benghazi was even created, let alone produced their final report.

The brief was written before the FOX report “13 hours in Benghazi” was presented by Brett Baier.

It was written long before the Hollywood movie around the night of the Benghazi attack, “13 Hours – The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi” was produced…

and not a single aspect to those, or any subsequent revelation, has ever compromised or run counter to the information contained with the Brief.

To the contrary, every report, every leak, every WikiLeak detail, every statement, every interview, every FIOA discovery and every factual detail pried from the clutches of the political establishment has done nothing except to validate the construct of the original research outline.

So why does that matter?

Partly, because (unlike politicians) the truth has no agenda.  Truth, raw reality, cannot be obfuscated based on the political wishes of those who would prefer it to remain muddied.  It just is.

As disconcerting and uncomfortable as it appears, the truth doesn’t care about your feelings, your sentiments or your preferences(Are you listening, Barry Obama, Hillary Clinton and all you sordid and assorted Black Lives Matterers?!?) It just is; and when it’s sitting there, there’s nothing you can do but accept it – or ignore it.

kerryobamaposter

For the sake of the current 2016 presidential election cycle, the answers to mountains of continuing day-to-day questions are answered within that very same brief.

Why do all of those former administration officials have a vested interest in destroying Donald Trump?  The answer is in the Benghazi Brief.

Why is Robert Gates not included in that list “against Trump”? The answer is in the Benghazi Brief.

Why was the Trey Gowdy committee an exercise in futility?  The answer is in the Benghazi Brief.

Why have we never heard from the 40+ people, survivors, who were in the Benghazi annex on the night of September 12th and morning of Sept 13th 2012?  The answer is in the Benghazi Brief.

Why is Leon Panetta so far out with his support for Hillary Clinton? The answer is in the Benghazi Brief.

Why is CIA interim weasel Mike Morell so ridiculously against Trump and supportive of Hillary Clinton?  The answer is in the Benghazi Brief.

Why was General David Petraeus removed, later prosecuted?  The answer is in the Benghazi Brief.

Why did key Republicans (McCain, McConnell, Boehner etc. ) not fully place the burden of responsibility for Libya in the lap of Hillary Clinton and Leon Panetta?  The answer is in the Benghazi Brief.

Why are 4 of the 8 members of the 2012 Congressional Intelligence Gang of Eight either retired (Rogers, Boehner, Chambliss) or retiring (Reid)?  The answer is in the Benghazi Brief.

Why did President Obama urgently withdraw from Iraq – with severity and an apparent lack of concern for a rapid withdrawal?  The answer is in the Benghazi Brief.

original

Why did President Obama seemingly distance himself from a more moderate Egypt (el-Sisi) or embrace Jordan (Abdullah)? The answer is in the Benghazi Brief.

Why did Turkey accept, and give safe-haven to the exiled Muslim Brotherhood leadership?  The answer is in the Benghazi Brief.

Why are Republicans just as culpable for the outcome in Libya and Syria?  The answer is in the Benghazi Brief.

Why did Russia step in to fill the vacuum from Obama’s mid-east withdrawal? The answer is in the Benghazi Brief.

Why is the current intelligence community, and foreign relations political community, supportive of Hillary Clinton over Donald Trump?  The answer is within the Benghazi Brief.

Why did General Allen retire in 2013?  The answer is within the Benghazi Brief.

Why was General Allen put in charge of Obama’s ISIS strategy in 2014?  The answer is within the Benghazi Brief. (That…and the fact he’s a politically-correcty, sycophantic douchebag!)

Why did General Allen speak at the 2016 DNC convention in Philadelphia?  The answer is within the Benghazi Brief. (See editorial note above.)

Why did CNN hire Mike Rogers as an analyst?  The answer is within the Benghazi Brief.

Why has the ongoing trial of captured Libyan terrorist Abu Khattala seemingly dropped off the face of the media radar?  The answer is within the Benghazi Brief.

hillary-supporters-be-like1-300x206

If you look at each of the players behind the 2011, 2012 and beyond mid-east policy; and you look carefully at each of the people and positions outlined in the Benghazi Brief, you will clearly see what motivates each-and-every-one of them in the 2016 presidential election cycle.

Yes, it is beyond troubling to accept that both sides of the DC UniParty share culpability for the outcome of a foreign policy they facilitated and supported.  But that is a reality that must be accepted, in order to understand why all of those same UniParty members are more comfortable with Hillary Clinton over Donald Trump.

However, two people are more responsible than all others; yes, even more responsible than President Obama himself, and even more responsible than the congressional intelligence oversight committee that were supposed to keep them in check.

Hillary Rodham Clinton, Leon Panetta

Yes, Obama gave them authority to engage, but Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and former CIA Director Leon Panetta hold the primary responsibility for creating the policy that created the islamist explosion which ultimately gave rise to ISIS.

Why should Secretary of State Hillary Clinton never be allowed to become President of the United States of America? The answer is within the Benghazi Brief.

We report, you decide; but it sure does explain one helluva lot, including how former prosecutor Trey Gowdy could let Hillary off the hook.

Turning now to International News of Note, the WSJ‘s Bret Stephens explains…

The Meaning of an Olympic Snub

The Arab world has a problem of the mind, and its name is anti-Semitism.

BN-PK196_glovie_J_20160815094529

“An Israeli heavyweight judoka named Or Sasson defeated an Egyptian opponent named Islam El Shehaby Friday in a first-round match at the Rio Olympics. The Egyptian refused to shake his opponent’s extended hand, earning boos from the crowd. Mr. Sasson went on to win a bronze medal.

If you want the short answer for why the Arab world is sliding into the abyss, look no further than this little incident. It did itself in chiefly through its long-abiding and all-consuming hatred of Israel, and of Jews.

That’s not a point you will find in a long article about the Arab crackup by Scott Andersonin last weekend’s New York Times Magazine, where hatred of Israel is treated like sand in Arabia—a given of the landscape. Nor is it much mentioned in the wide literature about the legacy of colonialism in the Middle East, or the oil curse, governance gap, democracy deficit, youth bulge, sectarian divide, legitimacy crisis and every other explanation for Arab decline.

Yet the fact remains that over the past 70 years the Arab world got rid of its Jews, some 900,000 people, while holding on to its hatred of them. Over time the result proved fatal: a combination of lost human capital, ruinously expensive wars, misdirected ideological obsessions, and an intellectual life perverted by conspiracy theory and the perpetual search for scapegoats. The Arab world’s problems are a problem of the Arab mind, and the name for that problem is anti-Semitism.

As a historical phenomenon, this is not unique. In a 2005 essay in Commentary, historian Paul Johnson noted that wherever anti-Semitism took hold, social and political decline almost inevitably followed…”

Here’s a helpful hint in discerning right from wrong in any international conflict: whichever side Barry, Hillary, Lurch or Jimmy Carter back is inevitably in the wrong!
