It’s Wednesday, December 28th, 2016…but before we begin, we take a moment to honor the incredible careers of two individuals who’ve meant a lot to us over the years.  First, Townhall.com‘s Christine Rousselle offers…

12 Fantastic Thomas Sowell Quotes In Honor Of His Retirement

In honor of Dr. Thomas Sowell’s retirement, here are some of his best quotes from his many years as a writer, columnist, and thinker:

1. People who enjoy meetings should not be in charge of anything.

2. If you have always believed that everyone should play by the same rules and be judged by the same standards, that would have gotten you labeled a radical 60 years ago, a liberal 30 years ago and a racist today.

3. Immigration laws are the only laws that are discussed in terms of how to help people who break them.

4. Socialism in general has a record of failure so blatant that only an intellectual could ignore or evade it.

5. The next time some academics tell you how important diversity is, ask how many Republicans there are in their sociology department.

6. The most basic question is not what is best, but who shall decide what is best.

7. The biggest and most deadly ‘tax’ rate on the poor comes from a loss of various welfare state benefits – food stamps, housing subsidies and the like – if their income goes up.

8. The real minimum wage is zero.

9. What ‘multiculturalism’ boils down to is that you can praise any culture in the world except Western culture – and you cannot blame any culture in the world except Western culture.

10. In liberal logic, if life is unfair then the answer is to turn more tax money over to politicians, to spend in ways that will increase their chances of getting reelected.

11. People who have time on their hands will inevitably waste the time of people who have work to do.

12. Elections should be held on April 16th- the day after we pay our income taxes. That is one of the few things that might discourage politicians from being big spenders.

Thomas Sowell is one of the most powerful proponents of Conservative thought we’ve ever had the pleasure to experience.  We can only hope what he terms his last column will in fact simply be his last regularly scheduled offering.

Next, as this item from the WaPo, courtesy of our old buddy Marc Katz details, December 31st will mark…

A final seating for the man who knew every D.C. power player’s favorite table

This quote from Tommy says it all: “I like to make people feel important whether they’re a big shot or not.”  And he had a 100% success rate.

Here’s wishing both Thomas Sowell and Tommy Jacomo all the best in their well-deserved retirements.

Now, here’s The Gouge!

First up, a brief Christmas montage of the best Michael Ramirez has to offer on the worst President the Republic’s ever had to endure:

Since we’re on the subject of the first truly anti-American leader ever to curse our country, the WSJ reveals the reality behind…

Obama’s Anti-Israel Tantrum

The U.N. resolution is a defining act of Obama’s Presidency.

“…It is important, though, to see this U.S. abstention as more significant than merely Mr. Obama’s petulance. What it reveals clearly is the Obama Administration’s animus against the state of Israel itself. No longer needing Jewish votes, Mr. Obama was free, finally, to punish the Jewish state in a way no previous President has done.

No effort to rescind the resolution, which calls the settlements a violation of “international law,” will succeed because of Russia’s and China’s vetoes. Instead, the resolution will live on as Barack Obama’s cat’s paw, offering support in every European capital, international institution and U.S. university campus to bully Israel with the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer implored the Administration to veto the resolution, noting rightly that it represents nothing more than the “Zionism is racism” bias at the U.N. Let Senator Schumer note the true nature of his party’s left wing.

…For Donald Trump, meet your State Department. This is what State’s permanent bureaucrats believe, this is what they want, and Barack Obama delivered it to them…”

Can there by any doubt…any doubt whatsoever…regarding the real purpose of…

…the Iranian nuclear deal?!?

Again, Sowell had it right…

…as does Chris Muir at Day By Day:

And don’t depend on Republicans cutting U.S. funding to the most counterproductive international body ever foisted upon the world, no matter how much noise they make.

Although, there is

…a new sheriff in town!

In a related item, JPUdates.com takes us on a walk down Memory Lane with an article which exposes the despicable deception which lies at the very heart of this Administration:

WH Press Sec. Says Obama’s Policies Are Driven By Kinship with Jews

David Axelrod’s comments about President Obama comparing himself as “the closest thing to a Jew that has ever sat in [the oval] office,” is continuing to make some national headlines.

Axelrod revealed the claim to Israel’s Channel 2 in an interview ahead of the president’s exclusive interview to the station. “You know, I think I am the closest thing to a Jew that has ever sat in this office,” the president said, according to Axelrod’s account, first reported by JP. For people to say that I am anti-Israel, or, even worse, anti-Semitic, it hurts.”

WH Press Secretary Josh Earnest was asked about the rather rare comments during a daily briefing on Tuesday. “I was not around for the conversation between the President and Mr. Axelrod that Mr. Axelrod is recounting,” Earnest responded. “But I can tell you that I think anybody who listened to the speech that the President delivered at Adas Israel just a week or so ago heard pretty clearly from the President the kinds of common bonds and common values that are embodied in his administration that are advocated by the Jewish community. And whether that is our unprecedented security cooperation with the nation of Israel that has saved Israeli lives, or it’s putting in place and leading a government and a nation consistent with the kinds of Judeo-Christian values that have long been celebrated by the Jewish people, the President does feel that kind of kinship.

Talk about chutzpah: the last guys who experienced Obama’s level of kinship with Jews…

…felt it through a fence!

Fortunately, Charles Krauthammer was on hand to point out the The Dear Misleader’s patent prevarication:

“Fox News commentator Charles Krauthammer criticized Obama’s “personal hurt” comments during a news broadcast. For Obama, this is a matter of personal hurt. I mean, who cares what he feels?” he asked.

Perhaps the judgment of Israelis, who 6 million of them are Jews, have a pretty good idea what a Jew is and more importantly have a pretty good ideal of what a friend isI think the approval rating for Obama is about 15 percent. The administration pretends this is about Netanyahu and Likud and the hawks and extremists. And 15 percent of Israelis have a favorable view of Obama. The overwhelming majority of Israelis know that this president has probably been the least favorable to Israel of any in Israel’s history and at a moment where Israel’s existence is actually in question,” Krauthammer added.”

After all, if it walks like an anti-Semite…

talks like an anti-Semite…

…and acts like an anti-Semite…

Well,…we report, you decide!

These Damned Illegitimate Republicans Have ‘Stolen’ a SCOTUS Seat, Or Something

Who’s up for some holiday-era, tiresome, predictable whining from the New York Times editorial board, whose impotence was laid bare by voters last month?  The editors — who, in another inevitable failure, are now calling for the abolishment of the electoral college in the wake of Hillary Clinton’s loss — are coming to grips with the reality that Donald Trump will replace the late Justice Antonin Scalia on the US Supreme Court. Because liberals so often rely on the judiciary to impose outcomes that fail at the ballot box, this is a devastating development for the Left, especially if another vacancy or two were to arise during Trump’s term. For now, the Times is reduced to bitter, hysterical complaints:

The person who gets confirmed will sit in a stolen seat. It was stolen from Barack Obama, a twice-elected president who fulfilled his constitutional duty more than nine months ago by nominating Merrick Garland, a highly qualified and widely respected federal appellate judge. It was stolen by top Senate Republicans, who broke with longstanding tradition and refused to consider any nominee Mr. Obama might send them, because they wanted to preserve the court’s conservative majority. The main perpetrators of the theft were Mitch McConnell, the majority leader, and Charles Grassley, chairman of the Judiciary Committee. But virtually all Republican senators were accomplices; only two supported holding hearings. The Republican party line — that it was an election year, so the American people should have a “voice” in the selection of the next justice — was a patent lie. The people spoke when they re-elected Mr. Obama in 2012, entrusting him to choose new members for the court. And the Senate has had no problem considering, and usually confirming, election-year nominees in the past.

This angry piece omits inconvenient counter-examples from our history, of course, because that might interrupt the demagoguery party.  This seat was not “stolen.” It remained unfilled in an election year, in accordance with the so-called ‘Biden Rule’.  In case the crew at the Times has forgotten, I’ll let sitting Democratic Vice President Joe Biden explain his reasoning:

How soon the deliberately dumb forget…

…there’s almost nothing which cannot be recalled on the internet.  Any question why Progressives wish to control it?!?

Which brings us, appropriately enough, to The Lighter Side:

Finally, we’ll call it a wrap with yet another titillating tale torn from the pages of The Crime Blotter:

Man, 81, Cops Shuffleboard Rage Plea

Cops: Floridian battered fellow retiree at senior citizens center

“An 81-year-old Floridian has copped a plea in connection with a shuffleboard rage incident, according to court records. Herbert Hayden this month entered a no contest plea to a misdemeanor battery charge filed following a mid-September altercation at a senior citizens center.

…The octogenarian, who lives in a St. Petersburg mobile home park, was arrested after he got into a physical confrontation with a fellow retiree. According to police, Hayden punched the victim and struck him with a shuffleboard cue. The attack, cops say, occurred at the Pinellas Park Senior Center’s open-air shuffleboard pavilion. Hayden battered the victim near the close of the 16-court facility’s thrice-weekly Black & White Shuffleboard League competition…”

Conservatives see Herbert Hayden as the problem; Liberals, on the other hand, will soon be calling for a ban on shuffleboard cues!
