FBI Director James Comey Fired by President Trump

…is definitely a step in the right direction, inquiring minds find it incomprehensible this pencil-necked cretin…

…remains unindicted, let alone still directing the IRS.

Jim, here’s hoping the door hits you hard in the ass on your way out…and may you never come within a hundred miles of another position of public trust.  You’ve disgraced yourself, your office and your organization…which makes you about par for the Obama-appointee course.

Now, here’s The Gouge!

First up, courtesy of the Washington Examiner, for once in his lying, Liberal life, The Dear Misleader has spoken the truth:

Obama: Democrats who lost their seats for passing Obamacare did the right thing

Now it’s time for Republicans to follow suit; if needs be surrendering their seats in the House and the Senate for the good of the country.

And as the WSJ so accurately observes with regard to…

The ‘Republicans Are Doomed’ Gambit

The fastest way to lose Congress is by not repealing ObamaCare.

“Barack Obama emerged from his short-lived political retirement on Sunday to call on Members of Congress to show the “political courage” to preserve ObamaCare. But wait. That plea doesn’t square with the deluge of recent stories predicting that Republicans have doomed their majority in 2018 by voting last week to repeal ObamaCare. How does it take “political courage” to oppose something that everyone claims is politically suicidal?

Start with the safe assumption that the Democratic base will be highly motivated to vote next November no matter what Republicans in Congress do. The left will be eager to repudiate President Trump, and that means trying to retake the House and Senate. House Republicans can’t do much to deflate that liberal enthusiasm, any more than Democrats could deter the tea party in 2010.

That means the only way to survive the liberal wave will be to keep the Republican base eager to vote too. But there’s no better way to dampen GOP enthusiasm than by failing to show any tangible achievements for electing a Republican Congress and President. It’s far easier to politically defend legislative success, even if a law’s benefits still aren’t clear, than it is to justify an obvious failure. And Republicans made no clearer promise in 2016 than that they’d repeal ObamaCare…”

The GOP’s Capitol Hill contingent would do well to remember the fate of the last Republican who failed to keep so solemn a promise…

…as well as the Progressive plague his breach of trust and faith ushered in.

Dumbest Ever Defense of Obamacare

“Rational observers of Obamacare’s accelerating implosion will be drawn inexorably toward the conclusion that it is, as Aetna chief executive Mark Bertolini put it last week, “in a death spiral.” However, as our friends on the left have clearly demonstrated since November, they are anything but rational. Thus, they continue to delude themselves that “reform” will somehow survive the laws of economics as well as the ire of the electorate. This fantasy has led to all manner of absurd claims about the law’s alleged accomplishments. The latest miracle they have attributed to Obamacare is a decline in the divorce rate.

Yes, you read that correctly. A couple of academics from the University of Kansas analyzed the impact of the law on divorce rates, and you won’t be surprised to learn that their “research” produced results “strongly suggesting that it reduced medical divorce” in states that complied with Obamacare’s Medicaid expansion. They found that “expansion decreased the prevalence of divorce by 5.6% among those 50-64,” compared to states that didn’t comply. Are these data credible? Apparently not. Even the study’s author admitted to Fortune, “Overall, it’s tough to find valid statistics on medical divorce specifically.”

It’s far less difficult to determine what is driving such “research” or the disproportionate amount of coverage it gets in the media. Obamacare’s apologists are desperately casting about for some reason to justify its existence, and this has not been easy in recent weeks. Since the beginning of the year, all the legitimate news about the law has been bad. The year began with Congress taking its first procedural step toward repeal, President Trump’s executive order instructing all relevant executive branch agencies to slow walk implementation of Obamacare, and the cancelation of $5 million in Healthcare.gov ads.

But February has been the cruelest month of all for the moribund health care law. The month began with the announcement that Healthcare.gov signups for 2017 lagged far behind Obama administration projections. After the White House and congressional Democrats had repeatedly claimed that enrollment was skyrocketing to record highs due to public apprehension concerning President-elect Trump’s plans to repeal the “Affordable Care Act,” the actual figures fell short of last year’s totals. With typical chutzpah, congressional Democrats and the “news” media blamed the shortfall on President Trump…”

Here’s the juice: everything about Obamacare as it was sold and has continued to be presented

was and is a lie!  Here’s the reality

…along with the bottomline:

Never lose sight of the fact, from its inception, the Unaffordable Care Act was intentionally designed to fail

…taking the greatest healthcare system on the planet with it and ushering in the era of Socialized medicine in America.

For those still unsure what we can expect from Socialized medicine, aka single-payer, government-run healthcare, one only has to consider the VA:

NOW we’re actually talking about people dying.  Any questions?!?

Next up, courtesy of NRO, David Harsanyi suggests…

James Comey Didn’t Sink Hillary

Hillary sank Hillary.

“…Setting all that aside, however, it’s also worth reiterating that it was Hillary, not Comey, who initially set up a secret server to circumvent transparency, likely to hide favor trading related to her foundation. It was Hillary, not Comey, who sent unsecured classified documents through that server, which she almost surely knew was wrong. (The New York Times pointed out that chances are high these documents were intercepted by foreign powers.) It was Hillary, not Comey, who was responsible for attempts to destroy all evidence related to that server. It was Hillary’s people, as Comey noted in his original congressional testimony, that had “cleaned their devices in such a way as to preclude complete forensic recovery.” And it was Hillary’s aide who failed to inform the FBI about classified e-mails on her computer.

It was Hillary who ran a poor campaign and lost to one of the most unpopular presidential candidates in history. As former president Barack Obama’s adviser David Axelrod pointed out Wednesday, she never took responsibility for any of it.

He said: “But Jim Comey didn’t tell her not to campaign in Wisconsin after the convention. Jim Comey didn’t say, ‘Don’t put any resources in Michigan until the final week of the campaign.’ One of the things that hindered her in the campaign was a sense that she never fully was willing to take responsibility for her mistakes, particularly that server.”

Moreover, as Comey basically admitted again today, Clinton had clearly broken the law. The only struggle was proving intent (though gross negligence was the standard). So rather than smearing Comey, Clinton should be thanking him for not suggesting she be indicted.

Hillary reminds us of the petulant moppet Trelane featured in an episode of Star Trek…

…or Terry Malloy in On the Waterfront:

Shoulda…woulda…coulda…SEE YA!!!

Since we’re on the subject, no discussion of Hillary’s Evasion of Any Responsibility Whatsoever Tour would be complete without the input of the great Victor Davis Hanson, who, writing at his personal blog, highlights…

How to Blow an Election — in Five Easy Steps

Counting the ways, and Comey is not among them.

Never has so little been so few who thought so highly of himself!

“…Haughtiness, insularity, and laziness characterized the conduct of the Clinton campaign. Even a novice outsider could see that Obama’s successful electoral matrix — record minority turnout and bloc voting, coupled with the drop-off in turnout by a disengaged white working middle class (tired both of left-wing identity politics and Republican bluestocking elitism) — was not going to be transferrable to an off-putting 69-year-old, white multimillionaire.

Not only did Hillary Clinton lack Obama’s youthful vigor and mellifluousness; she also seemed at times (at times?!?) geriatric, snarky, and screechy. The result was that she did not win the minority vote at the levels she needed. Further, she galvanized the supposedly ossified and irrelevant white working classes to finally come out and vote, in their own bloc fashion, against her. Obama had guaranteed her his downside but never delivered his upside.

Clinton’s only chance to make up for missing identity-politics voters by appealing to the working classes of the Midwest was to replay her 2008 Annie Oakley Democratic-primary role — by drinking boilermakers in Milwaukee, or bowling in Scranton, or reminiscing about shooting guns as young gal. But eight years ago, the Democratic party was still aw-shucks Bill Clinton’s. In 2016, it was captive to the identity-politics polarization so effectively deployed, in community-organizer style, by Barack Obama.

So instead Clinton doubled down on the tired theme that Rust Belt losers needed to shape up and get with the globalized progressive project and a demography-is-destiny new America. Obama had deprecated Pennsylvanians as has-beens clinging to their Bibles and guns; Hillary updated them, adding “half of Trump’s supporters” as irredeemables and deplorables. Miners were toxic losers who needed to learn how to build solar panels rather than mine coal. In contrast, Trump called them “our miners…”

So here’s to the tarnished, tawdry, anti-American legacy of Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Hussein Obama:

And in the Environmental Moment, Jeff Foutch forwarded the following which confounds the claims of the Climate scammers:

ICE AGE BRITAIN: River Thames will FREEZE OVER on ‘this date’ – and could kill millions

A GLOBAL cool down will “march in with vengeance” to usher in a 100-year mini-ice age that could freeze over the River Thames, climate scientists told Daily Star Online.

“Experts told Daily Star Online planet Earth is on course for a “Little Age Ice” within the next three years thanks to a cocktail of climate change and low solar activity. Research shows a natural cooling cycle that occurs every 230 years began in 2014 and will send temperatures plummeting even further by 2019.

Scientists are also expecting a “huge reduction” in solar activity for 33 years between 2020 and 2053 that will cause thermometers to crash. Both cycles suggest Earth is entering a global cooling cycle that could have devastating consequences for global economy, human life and society as we know it…”

Gee…maybe if we ditched the Paris Accords and started burning coal and oil like crazy, mankind just might

…be able to short-circuit the fate the Environazis first erroneously foresaw way back in…

…1972!

Which brings us to The Lighter Side

Finally, courtesy of Bill Meisen, we offer what can only be termed a cross between News of the Bizarre and another, particularly sordid story straight from the pages of The Crime Blotter, as we learn a…

Man accused of murder asks to show penis to jury in oral-sex choking defense

“A man accused of murdering his girlfriend in her bedroom is now saying she accidentally choked to death while performing oral sex. He wants a judge’s permission to show the jury his penis to prove it.

Richard Henry Patterson, 65, of Margate, admitted from the start that he choked his girlfriend, Francisca Marquinez, 60, on Oct. 28, 2015. But he never said how.

…A British man, Philip Martins, attempted an identical defense in a 2011 murder case. He’s now serving a life sentence.

We guess the Twinkie defense has morphed into…

…the Shrinkage strategy.  In any event, as Mr. Meisen noted, this should make for interesting oral arguments!
