It’s Friday, August 25th, 2017…but before we begin, we’re compelled to offer a few cogent comments on a story of which you’re already undoubtedly aware:

ESPN’s decision to pull announcer Robert Lee from game sparks outcry

The network’s full statement: “We collectively made the decision with Robert to switch games as the tragic events in Charlottesville were unfolding, simply because of the coincidence of his name. In that moment it felt right to all parties. It’s a shame that this is even a topic of conversation and we regret that who calls play-by-play for a football game has become an issue.

Only because it’s a topic of conversation ESPN deliberately choose to create!  This is, quite literally, an issue solely occupying the minds of The Left, in a fashion identical to Black Lives Matter, a movement constructed in its entirety on the unmitigated myth of “Hands Up/Don’t Shoot”!

Hells bells, as demonstrated by these Reuters tweets, the MSM doesn’t even possess a command of the English language sufficient to accurately mispresent the fallacies of the fables…

…they’re promoting:

Meanwhile, like every other Progressive mouthpiece, given the chance to demonstrate a modicum of common sense and correct an obviously egregious overreach, ESPN doubles down…

ESPN president defends pulling Robert Lee from football coverage

…on STUPID by defending the indefensible!!!  In all honesty, we’ll watch reruns of Maude before we ever tune into ESPN again.

On the other hand, the position espoused by Cowboys coach Jason Garrett almost…almost, mind you…

…makes us want to pull for Dallas.

But this comment by George Foreman, courtesy of Lifezette via Jeff Foutch, says it best:

“I love the United States,” Foreman said. “They [Kevin Durant and Colin Kaepernick] haven’t been brought up with people who were patriotic. A lot of people died so that they can have that privilege.”

Foreman said all athletes during his heyday were appreciative of the privileges to which they had been born. “We came in the era we were patriotic. The greatest day of my life was when I put on the colors, representing the United States,” he said, referencing his time competing in the Olympics.

By the way, the following video shows the best play anyone wearing Kaepernick’s jersey has made…

…in several seasons.

In conclusion, we’ll acknowledge the need to address “racial injustice” in America if someone can convince us a Black 16-year-old attacking a Black teacher

…somehow resulted from the legacy of an evil neither party ever personally experienced…and which almost 350,000 White men died to end.  Indeed, one which could never have occurred absent the active participation of West African Blacks who willingly sold their “brothers and sisters” into bondage.

By the way, the same weekend a crazed Neo-Nazi ran down a young White woman, 9 Black Chicagoans died at the hands of other Blacks.

So puhlease

Now, here’s The Gouge!

Since we’re on the subject of how Progressives and their lap dogs in the Fourth Estate promulgate and perpetuate tall tales completely devoid of any semblance of truth, courtesy of Townhall.com, Dennis Prager (it’s a long column, but WELL worth your time!) uses the reporting on the unsuccessful boycott of his conducting the Santa Monica Symphony Orchestra to accurately illustrate…

How the Mainstream Media Operate

“Our leading media” are characterized by “indefensibly corrupt manipulations of language repeated incessantly.” – Patrick Lawrence in The Nation, Aug. 9, 2017, on the media’s reporting of the alleged collusion between Donald Trump’s campaign and Russia.

To understand America’s crises today, one must first understand what has happened to two institutions: the university and the news media. They do not regard their mission as educating and informing but indoctrinating.

In summary, all mainstream media coverage of this one story was tainted, biased, often false and predicated solely on left-wing presumptions. Magnify what they did to me a thousandfold and you will begin to understand media behavior over the last two generations, and especially behavior today, when hysteria and advocacy have completely replaced news reporting.

The media pay little or no price among those who still believe them.

But I will pay a price. The New York Times lied when it wrote that I “suggested that same-sex marriage would lead to polygamy and incest.” Yet that will be cited forever as if it were true.

It’s already begun. On the night of the concert, the Fox TV station in Los Angeles reported: “A left wing attempt to boycott a performance of the Santa Monica Symphony due to a guest appearance by conservative radio host Dennis Prager backfired on Wednesday night; the event was a sellout…Prager has made controversial comments in the past, saying that he believes gay marriage would lead to incest.

Case in point:

By the way, as this video from Ami Horowitz demonstrates, The Left is absolutely

BONKERS:

As well as UTTERLY un/dis/misinformed!  And need we mention they all lie through their teeth?!?

Next up, writing at NRO, David French recounts how on Monday…

Donald Trump Decided Not to Lose the War in Afghanistan

Donald Trump said ‘no’ to an American surrender and passed the test facing wartime presidents since Saigon.

Last night, Donald Trump did the responsible thing. He reneged on a campaign promise to avoid losing a war. That’s exactly what we want presidents to do when they win elections, learn new information, and begin to fully understand the strategic, cultural, and political ramifications of promises foolishly made. We want them to do what Trump candidly did last night — admit that “decisions are much different when you sit behind the desk in the Oval Office.”

In the aftermath of the Vietnam War, if there is any such thing as a bipartisan strategic commitment, it’s a commitment to never again preside over a debacle like the fall of Saigon. No president wants to be the man who watches from the Oval Office as the last helicopter lifts off the roof, leaving behind abandoned and desperate allies as sworn enemies sweep into a foreign capital. (Editor’s Note: Other than Barack Hussein Obama!) This is especially true when those sworn enemies have used that same land as base to plan, train, and inspire terrorists to strike targets inside America.

As should be obvious by now, when fighting a militaristic theological movement conventional military “victory” simply isn’t attainable. While there may be political settlements in given regions at given times, there won’t be a USS Missouri moment with al-Qaeda, ISIS, or any successor jihadist group. They’re not going to lay down their arms, and thus it’s not really even in our power to truly end the war. Wars end when both sides stop fighting, not when just one side wants to make it stop. We can certainly diminish the jihadist threat, and we can certainly cripple jihadist forces. We cannot, however, extinguish the jihadist impulse.

Advocates of an American withdrawal should think hard about the consequences. They should consider whether a Taliban-led government in Kabul is in America’s best interests or whether it’s worth expending a very small fraction of our military power to keep a jihadist enemy from winning a historic victory. Indeed, denying terrorists safe havens should be the cornerstone of American military strategy, and that requires constant vigilance and potentially a permanent military commitment.

Perhaps one day the Taliban will exhaust themselves and seek peace. Likely not. But we in turn cannot grow weary in our own commitments to our own defense. In his speech, Trump provided an interesting definition of victory — “attacking our enemies, obliterating ISIS, crushing al-Qaeda, preventing the Taliban from taking over Afghanistan, and stopping mass terror attacks against America before they emerge.” In other words, “victory” is a process, and while the aim is to inflict a “lasting defeat” on America’s enemies, there is no timetable for this war.

Good. Our enemy doesn’t have a timetable. Jihadists have fought the perceived enemies of Islam for more than a thousand years. Our nation’s commitment to its people should be clear. Each and every year that jihadists are willing to fight is a year that we are ready and able to defend ourselves, to deny them safe havens, and to strike them before they can strike us.

Trump’s change of heart is significant, and it’s a signal to our foes. American presidents, when confronted with reality, have risen to the occasion (Editor’s note: Again, with the exception of Barack Hussein Obama!). One more American president has said no to another Saigon. He’s said no to another surrender. Americans can and should breathe easier — President Trump won’t be the president to lose this war.

As Edward Woodward so eloquently observed in Breaker Morant (one of our Top 10 films of all time)…

…it’s a new war for a new century.  But the Boers were just fighting for hearth and home; a jihadist, on the other hand, is akin to a Terminator:

And the sooner America comes to grips with this reality the better.  Because, regardless of whether we realize it, the Islamofascists…

do!

Speaking of those who will not stop until the rest of us…at least those who actually pay taxes…are dead, in today’s installment of the Environmental Moment, the WSJ reports on…

Cuomo’s Natural Gas Blockade

New York’s Governor is raising energy costs for millions of Americans.

Though as far as we’re concerned, when it comes to New England and the rest of the Northeast…

After all, they’re the ones who continue to elect these destructive douchebags; let them live…or die…with the consequences.

Which brings us to The Lighter Side:

Finally, we’ll call it a week with yet another sordid story straight from the pages of The Crime Blotter:

Pair arrested in grisly basement murders; bodies were dissolving in chemical ‘baths

“Two western Montana residents were charged with deliberate homicide in the stabbing deaths of two unidentified people whose bodies were found in plastic tubs of chemicals in the basement of a [Missoula] home. Tiffanie Pierce, 23, and Augustus Standingrock, 26,…tried to dispose of the bodies of the victims by putting them in tubs with chemicals, prosecutors said. Investigators discovered that Pierce purchased the chemicals, tubs and cleaning supplies that were found at the crime scene, according to KRTV. They also found a bloody ax and knives.

Pierce’s roommate told police he was awakened by a woman’s screams and found Pierce and Standingrock in the bathroom washing blood off themselves before Pierce told him there was a dead woman in the basement. The roommate left the house after he was told of the body. He said Pierce later showed up at his work and told him she “killed a couple people last night,” according to court records.

Pierce reportedly told her roommate that Standingrock brought a couple of people over and that he took them to the basement and attacked one. Pierce attacked the other person who tried to get away, according to the roommate…”

What could possibly go wrong with so sophisticated a plan?!?  Had the DNC not already replaced Debbie Dizterman Schultz, either of these two would have provided the perfect replacement.
