It’s Wednesday, November 29th, 2017…and as we’re a little tight on time tonight, here’s an abbreviated edition of The Gouge!

First up, the WSJ accurately characterizes the nature of the farce Progressives just attempted to foist upon the country:

Leandra Costanza

Democrats pretend that the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau is its own branch of government.

“Remember the “Seinfeld” episode in which George Costanza refused to leave even after he was found to be faking a disability? No matter the obstacle, George strove to occupy his office. The U.S. government now has its own devious doofus George in the form of Leandra English, who insists that she deserves to run the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and is refusing to leave.

Ms. English is the former chief of staff to Richard Cordray, who resigned as CFPB director on Friday, but not before naming her as deputy director, a position that had been vacant for two years. The language of the Dodd-Frank Act lets the bureau’s deputy director serve as the acting director “in the absence or unavailability of the Director.”

Ergo, Ms. English claims she is the new acting director, never mind that President Trump has superseded that claim by invoking the Federal Vacancies Reform Act to appoint Office of Management and Budget director Mick Mulvaney as acting director. The law allows the President to temporarily fill a vacancy at an executive agency with a government official who has been confirmed by the Senate.

This standoff devolved into a farce worthy of “Seinfeld” on Monday, as Mr. Mulvaney occupied the director’s office and met with senior employees. But Ms. English refused to leave and posed for photos with Senate Democrats. We can only imagine her lineup of interviews on MSNBC and CNN as she portrays herself as the latest martyr for “the resistance.”

On Sunday she even found her own lawyer to sue the Trump Administration to keep her job. She had to find her own lawyer—is he Art Vandelay?—because even the CFPB general counsel concluded that the law is on the Trump Administration’s side…”

What other proof does one need to conclude the Deep State is alive and well…and The Swamp still requires serious desiccation.  Unless it’s this next item from Paul Bedard writing at the Washington Examiner:

Consumer Bureau execs, workers gave 593 donations to Democrats, 1 to GOP

“The Obama-era Consumer Financial Protection Bureau under fire by the Trump administration has been a Democratic Party donor bank, its bureaucrats writing checks to liberals at a rate of 593 to one Republican.

Research of donor records on the OpenSecrets website maintained by the Center for Responsive Politics revealed that Hillary Rodham Clinton was the dominant recipient of tens of thousands of dollars from CFPB workers, followed by President Obama and Sen. Elizabeth Warren

Oh, and Donald, you dolt: it’s “Fauxcahontas” not “Pocahontas”!!!

who had a huge role in creating the agency…”

Kudos to Judge Timothy Kelly…

…for denying English’s egregiously frivolous lawsuit.

Speaking of the egregious and frivolous, Townhall.com.’s Matt Vespa details how…

After Being Torched By Liberals, Pelosi Now Says She Believes John Conyers’ Accuser

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi betrayed the sisterhood. She circled the wagons around Rep. John Conyers (D-MI) and Sen. Al Franken (D-MN), men who have been accused of sexual misconduct.

It’s quite serious. Conyers settled a sexual harassment claim back in 2015, using almost $30,000 in taxpayer money. Sen. Franken has allegedly groped multiple women before and after his election to the U.S. Senate. Both men are not resigning.

The label of liberal Democrat is still a potent shield against accountability, which was forged under the Clinton presidency. Here, the president of the United States was accused of rape and was re-elected twice. The feminist Left gave him a pass because Bill (Slick Willy) wasn’t a Republican (and, far more importantly, ardently supported the unrestricted murder of the unborn!).

Democrats tolerated the rape culture they vow to fight. The consequences of which have, well, been on display for the past week or so. If you give a blanket apology and are a liberal Democrat, you get a pass. Period.

Down south, in Alabama, Republican Senate candidate Roy Moore is facing even more serious allegations of misconduct. He allegedly sexually molested and assaulted teenage girls. Everyone is telling him to drop out. Frankly, it’s probably for the best, but I can see why he’s sticking around: a) Alabamans don’t like people telling them what to do; b) he won the primary; and c) if Conyers and Franken can stay, why can’t I? It’s a gross double standard.

Yes, there are varying degrees here, with Moore’s accusations being far more serious, but it still doesn’t mitigate the fact that all three men have been accused of sexual harassment/misconduct. And yet, only the Democrats are allowed to keep their jobs. You can see how this ole game of double standards has infuriated the right…”

Nancy Pelosi: like John Kerry’s belated opposition to the 2nd Iraq War, she believed for John Conyers before she believed against him.

Since we’re on the subject of the verminous villain who’s misrepresented the denizens of Detroit…

…since 1964, we had to laugh at this headline from FOX News:

John Conyers’ political future at stake as more allegations surface, including abuse inside a car

“Sheeeeet! WTF good is bein’ a congressman if I caint git no pubic access?!?”

WHAT “future”?!?  He’s 88 friggin’ years old!!!  His wife went to prison for taking bribes…his former chief of staff was convicted for receiving stolen property…he used $30,000 in taxpayer money to settle a sexual harassment suit…he gave no-work-required federal jobs to family members with felony criminal records.

From where we sit, it’s high time someone informed this disgusting Dimocratic douchebag (but we wax redundant!)…

Finally, on The Lighter Side
