30px;\">&#8220;<span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>You can make the case that Putin has proven himself too dangerous and reckless \u2014 to Ukraine, to NATO, to the Russian people themselves \u2014 to be left in power. <span style=\"color: #333399;\">After the mass suffering unleashed by the Russian invasion, few would dispute that Putin has an appetite for war, destruction, and conquest that will bring more and more chaos the longer he runs Russia.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #800080;\">You can also make the case that as much as the U.S. would prefer someone besides Putin run Russia \u2014 but based on that country\u2019s history,<\/span>\u00a0<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/the-morning-jolt\/russias-long-term-threat-to-the-west\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">we shouldn\u2019t expect someone dramatically different<\/a><\/span><\/em><\/span>\u00a0<span style=\"color: #800080;\">\u2014 openly declaring our desire to see Putin gone simply verifies the dictator\u2019s paranoia, offers more fodder for Russian state media about NATO\u2019s alleged dreams of conquering Russia, wrecks any chance of a negotiated end to the invasion, and brings the U.S. closer to becoming a combatant in the conflict.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #333399;\">The case you can\u2019t make is that U.S. policy should be both of these policies at once.<\/span> <span style=\"color: #333399;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\">There\u2019s a place for strategic ambiguity, but this isn\u2019t one of them.<\/span> Alas, this weekend, President Biden exclaimed, \u201cFor God\u2019s sake, this man cannot remain in power!\u201d and then his staff rushed to clarify that the president \u201cwas not discussing Putin\u2019s power in Russia, or regime change,\u201d which is the opposite of what the president actually said.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #800080;\">As Andrew Stuttaford aptly summarized, \u201c<\/span><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/corner\/careless-talk-costs-lives-bidens-gift-to-putin\/?utm_source=recirc-desktop&amp;utm_medium=homepage&amp;utm_campaign=right-rail&amp;utm_content=corner&amp;utm_term=second\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The \u2018clarification\u2019 was the right thing to do (there was no choice, really<\/a><\/span><\/em><\/span><span style=\"color: #800080;\">), but the net effect is that Biden can be portrayed by Moscow as bellicose, while simultaneously coming across as weak to nervous allies in the East, and hopelessly muddled to allies elsewhere and, of course, to adversaries and the undecided across the globe.\u201d<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\">Biden made his ad-libbed remark because it\u2019s what he really thinks \u2014\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/lindseygrahamsc\/status\/1499574209567199235\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">just as South Carolina senator Lindsey Graham genuinely believes that the world would be better off if someone assassinated Putin<\/a><\/span><\/em><\/span><span style=\"color: #333399;\">: \u201cIs there a Brutus in Russia?<\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #800080;\">Is there a more successful Colonel Stauffenberg in the Russian military?<\/span> <span style=\"color: #333399;\">The only way this ends is for somebody in Russia to take this guy out.<\/span> <span style=\"color: #800080;\">You would be doing your country \u2014 and the world \u2014 a great service.\u201d<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong>But there\u2019s a <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">world of difference<\/span><\/em> between the <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">average American<\/span><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">\u2019s saying<\/span><\/em>, \u201cI wish someone would just kill Putin and end this whole thing,\u201d and a <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">U.S. lawmaker\u2019s saying it<\/span><\/em>. <span style=\"color: #800080;\">When a U.S. lawmaker says it <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">out loud and on camera or social media<\/span><\/em>, it persuades some people at home and abroad that this is our <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">secret real policy<\/span><\/em>, and that the U.S. policy of (generally) avoiding assassination as a tool of statecraft is just glossy public relations hiding a long and proud tradition of skullduggery in the name of defending the free world.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #333399;\">We wouldn\u2019t mind seeing Putin dead or deposed, but we also want a stable Russia.<\/span> <span style=\"color: #800080;\">We want Putin to meet an end like that of Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi\u2019s \u2014<\/span>\u00a0<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/books.google.com\/books?id=ETrXCwAAQBAJ&amp;pg=PA204&amp;lpg=PA204&amp;dq=%E2%80%9CPutin+was+apoplectic%E2%80%9D+when+Gaddafi+was+killed.&amp;source=bl&amp;ots=32XSWrP8sI&amp;sig=ACfU3U3plHca56c6WHrw-LqYXINYLOsOFw&amp;hl=en&amp;sa=X&amp;ved=2ahUKEwj4kqj42Oj2AhWRaM0KHVGHD74Q6AF6BAgdEAM#v=onepage&amp;q=%E2%80%9CPutin%20was%20apoplectic%E2%80%9D%20when%20Gaddafi%20was%20killed.&amp;f=false\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a brutal comeuppance that left Putin \u201capoplectic<\/a><\/span><\/em><\/span>\u201d\u00a0<span style=\"color: #800080;\">\u2014 but we also want him to take a deal that would end the conflict.<\/span> <span style=\"color: #333399;\">We want to communicate our incandescent anger over Putin\u2019s aggression and brutality, but we also want the Russian people to know that we mean no harm to them.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>To <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">govern<\/span><\/em> is to <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">choose<\/span><\/em>, and what\u2019s become <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">abundantly clear<\/span><\/em> is that <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Joe Biden doesn\u2019t like making tough decisions<\/span><\/em>. <span style=\"color: #333399;\">He wants it <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">both ways<\/span><\/em>.<\/span> Oftentimes when a leader tries to take the middle path because he\u2019s trying to achieve contradictory goals, he <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">achieves neither<\/span><\/em>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #333399;\">The U.S. cannot kick the can down the road on the question of how to see and treat Putin. <\/span>The Russian dictator has altered his country\u2019s constitution so that he can remain in power until <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">at least 2036<\/span><\/em> \u2014 when Putin will be 84, which is old even by Joe Biden\u2019s standards. <span style=\"color: #333399;\">Barring some unexpected turn of events, <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Putin will rule Russia until the day he dies<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/strong><\/span>&#8230;&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>On Tuesday, in response to 46* doubling down, the <em>Jolt<\/em>\u00a0raised the threat level to DEFCON error, the <em>Journal<\/em>\u00a0recounted&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<h1 class=\"WSJTheme-module--card__headline--label--W7MchsOx \" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><a style=\"color: #ff0000;\" style=\"color: #0000ff;\">The White House\u00a0said shortly after he made the comment\u00a0that he wasn&#8217;t calling for regime change.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>&#8220;I wasn\u2019t <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">then<\/span><\/em> nor am I <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">now<\/span><\/em> articulating a policy change,\u201d Mr. Biden said Monday. <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">\u201cI was expressing the moral outrage that I feel and I make no apologies for it.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>He added those feelings were personal, reflecting emotions he felt during his trip to Europe, where he met with Ukrainian refugees.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Pressed on how the rest of the world is interpreting his words, Mr. Biden said it was \u201cridiculous\u201d to view his comments as calling for regime change.<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>\u201c<em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Nobody believes<\/span><\/em> \u2026 I was talking about taking down Putin,\u201d he said.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Mr. Biden said Monday he was \u201cspeaking to the Russian people\u201d and that Mr. Putin would be increasingly isolated on the world stage if Moscow continued its onslaught in Ukraine<\/strong><\/span>&#8230;&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Unfortunately for America and the world, the sole individual who <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">far<\/span><\/em> more likely than not <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">does<\/span><\/em> believe it&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/the-tuesday\/bidens-regime-change-talk-is-worse-than-a-simple-gaffe\/?utm_source=Sailthru&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=TUE_20220329&amp;utm_term=Tuesday-Smart\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Biden\u2019s regime-change talk is worse than a simple gaffe<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/a>:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8220;<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>\u201cFor God\u2019s sake, this man cannot remain in power.\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Joe Biden said it about\u00a0Vladimir Putin.<\/span> Two seconds later, <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Joe Biden\u2019s <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>s<\/em>taff members<\/span><\/em> were no doubt thinking it <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">about Joe Biden<\/span><\/em>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Politics, particularly on the campaign side, is full of people who excel at verbal cleverness, and, as a result, it is full of people who believe that verbal cleverness is the height of intelligence.<\/span> Cleverness is overrated. <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">But there is a big difference between a policy of working toward \u201cregime change\u201d in Russia and a policy of\u00a0<em>talking about<\/em>\u00a0working toward regime change in Russia.<\/span> <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Words matter<\/span><\/em>, and the <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">words of the president of the United States<\/span><\/em> of America <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">matter a great deal<\/span><\/em>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">&#8230;<\/span><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">The Biden administration has a tremendous opportunity in its hands \u2014 but it lacks the leadership at the top to make the most of it.<\/span> The president is too diplomatically clumsy, too parochial in his political interests, too nickel-and-dime in his priorities, and too beholden to the left-wing elements in his party to do what needs doing, <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">especially<\/span><\/em> when it comes to energy policy. <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Joe Biden is no Vladimir Putin, but one might be forgiven for thinking in a moment of frustration: \u201cFor God\u2019s sake, this man cannot remain in power.\u201d<\/span><\/strong><\/span>&#8220;<\/p>\n<p><strong>This feckless fool&#8217;s latest catastrophic foreign foray can be summed up in this RNC tweet:<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Biden&#8217;s foreign trip has been a complete disaster.<\/p>\n<p>Biden called for regime change in Russia, said U.S. troops were being sent to text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/dailysceptic.org\/2022\/03\/11\/the-settled-science-lie-at-the-heart-of-the-net-zero-agenda\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">settled\u2019 science notion<\/a><\/span><\/em><\/span>\u00a0that insults the intelligence, the constant virtue signalling from those with <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>palaces and private planes<\/em><\/span>, and the ignorant demonising of routine bad weather.<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>A new \u2018Great Disappointment\u2019 could be on the cards.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #003300;\">On April 18th 1844, Jesus Christ, along with the Saints in Heaven, failed to appear to cleanse and purify the Earth.<\/span> The event had been predicted by the Baptist preacher\u00a0<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/William_Miller_(preacher)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"external noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">William Miller<\/a><\/span><\/em><\/span>, who had built up an enormous following across New England. <span style=\"color: #003300;\">A subsequent date also led to a JC no-show, following which the movement <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">not surprisingly declined<\/span><\/em>.<\/span> But among Miller\u2019s large number of followers, many of whom had donned white robes to prepare for their Ascension into the next world, there was recrimination. <span style=\"color: #003300;\">Shattered expectations led to what was termed the \u2018Great Disappointment\u2019.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>In 1957, a group of psychologists led by Leon Festinger published an influential paper, \u201c<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.goodreads.com\/en\/book\/show\/1835405.When_Prophecy_Fails\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"external noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">When Prophecy Fails<\/a><\/span><\/em><\/span>\u201c. <span style=\"color: #003300;\">This examined a small UFO religion in Chicago called the Seekers that believed in imminent apocalypse.<\/span> Looking at other examples from the past, including the Millerites, they found that a <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">failed<\/span><\/em> prophecy actually led many believers to <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">increase<\/span><\/em> their commitment to the cause and attempt to <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">recruit others<\/span><\/em> into their belief system. <span style=\"color: #003300;\">In this way the <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">pain of disconfirmation<\/span><\/em> was <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">lessened<\/span><\/em>.<\/span> \u201cIf <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">more and more people<\/span><\/em> can be persuaded that the system of belief is <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">correct<\/span><\/em>, then <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">clearly<\/span><\/em> it <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">must<\/span><\/em> after all <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>be correct<\/em><\/span>,\u201d they wrote.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #003300;\">In the recent past, no matter what climate change scares were debunked, the movement went from strength to strength.<\/span> In addition, the <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">green cash<\/span><\/em> running through subsidised technologies, countless public bodies including academia and well-funded activist groups is <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">huge<\/span><\/em>. <span style=\"color: #003300;\">Politicians like Boris Johnson have changed their mind once in the face of the relentless green propaganda onslaught; they are unlikely to want to do so again in the near future.<\/span> The American novelist Upton Sinclair once wrote that it is \u201cdifficult to get a man to understand something <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">when his salary depends upon his not understanding it<\/span><\/em>\u201d.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #003300;\"><strong>Maybe hold that disappointment for a little while longer.<\/strong><\/span>&#8220;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Here&#8217;s hoping&#8230;and praying&#8230;they&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/nZIlAExvneo?start=6&amp;end=7&amp;\" width=\"420\" height=\"235\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; From <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">this<\/span> light, Vladimir Putin\u2019s <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">seemingly senseless decision<\/span> to invade Ukraine <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">makes a bit more sense<\/span>, as perhaps he saw a window of opportunity <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">slowly closing<\/span><\/em>.<\/strong>&#8220;<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>(3). <em>The Washington Free Beacon<\/em> informs us <span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #0000ff;\"><em>the gunman suspected of killing two homeless men and wounding others in two East Coast cities in March would have been in prison at the time of the shootings if not for the work of Fairfax County, VA Commonwealth Attorney Steve Descano<\/em><\/span>, another Soros-sponsored Progressive prosecutor.\u00a0 Way to go, Steve!\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>(4). <em>The Washington Free Beacon<\/em> reports, a<\/strong><strong>s part of a social studies class, <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/campus\/without-notifying-parents-new-jersey-middle-school-forces-students-to-learn-about-transgender-hormone-therapy\/\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">a New Jersey public middle school forced students to watch a video about a transgender man&#8217;s hormone treatment\u2014all without notifying parents<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/a>, one of whom noted her two sons who viewed the video were &#8220;learning about this <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">ideology of gender<\/span><\/em> before they even have classes on the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>actual biologies of males and females<\/em><\/span>.&#8221;\u00a0 Here&#8217;s a second shot of the juice: This isn&#8217;t <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>education<\/em><\/span>, it&#8217;s <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>indoctrination<\/em><\/span>!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>(5). In what sounds like the plot of many a recent movie, experts who&#8217;ve investigated the suspected poisoning of Russian and Ukrainian negotiators <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/news\/ukrainian-peace-negotiators-russian-oligarch-victims-of-suspected-poisoning-report\/?utm_source=email&amp;utm_medium=breaking&amp;utm_campaign=newstrack&amp;utm_term=27177382\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">believe the attack was perpetrated by hard-liners in Moscow hoping to sabotage the peace talks<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>(6).
