voters\u2019 confidence that he can provide the sure-handed leadership he promised during the campaign.&#8221;<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #333399;\">How?<\/span> By trying to change the media narrative. <span style=\"color: #333399;\">On May 30, Biden published an op-ed in the<em>\u00a0Wall Street Journal\u00a0<\/em>that explained &#8220;<span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #0000ff;\"><em><a style=\"color: #0000ff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/my-plan-for-fighting-inflation-joe-biden-gas-prices-economy-unemployment-jobs-covid-11653940654\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">My Plan for Fighting Inflation<\/a><\/em><\/span>.&#8221;<\/span> The next day, Biden wrote a &#8220;guest essay&#8221; for the\u00a0<em>New York Times\u00a0<\/em>on &#8220;<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff; text-decoration: underline;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2022\/05\/31\/opinion\/biden-ukraine-strategy.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" class=\"broken_link\">What America Will and Will Not Do in Ukraine<\/a><\/span><\/em><\/span>.&#8221;<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #333399;\">Bad poll numbers and a collapsing domestic and international situation have excited the typically drowsy president into action.<\/span> There\u2019s a problem, though. <span style=\"color: #333399;\">The closer you read Biden\u2019s op-eds, the less he has to say.<\/span> This new, annoyed, engaged Biden may be a prolific writer and speaker. <span style=\"color: #333399;\">But he\u2019s not an incisive one.<\/span> He won\u2019t admit that there is a connection between his ideology and America\u2019s problems. <span style=\"color: #333399;\">He can\u2019t decide between giving Ukraine the weapons necessary to defeat Russia or settling for a war of attrition.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>Biden\u2019s\u00a0<em>Journal\u00a0<\/em>op-ed is a masterclass in passing the buck. <span style=\"color: #333399;\">He doesn\u2019t bring up his &#8220;plan for fighting inflation&#8221; until midway through his thousand-word piece.<\/span> My inner college professor wanted to send the article back to him with suggestions for revision. <span style=\"color: #333399;\">Number one: Always move your best material to the top!<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8230;<span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>Then again, little Biden says or does makes sense from the vantage point of either policy or politics. <span style=\"color: #333399;\">He\u2019s right to be rattled.<\/span> He\u2019s also clueless.<\/strong><\/span>&#8220;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Not to mention corrupt <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>as Hell<\/em><\/span>!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Speaking of the completely corrupt, Rich Terrell&#8217;s Friday edition of <em>AfterMath<\/em> accurately depicts&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>behind closed doors<\/em><\/span>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>It&#8217;s as Kevin Williamson pointed out recently at <em>The Corner<\/em>:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8220;<span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong>About 93 percent of what you need to know about our gun-control debate can be deduced from the following two facts:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>First: Joe Biden\u2019s presidential campaign boasted that \u201cin 1993, he shepherded through Congress the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act, which established the background check system that has since kept more than 3 million firearms out of dangerous hands.\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong>Second: In 2018,\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #0000ff;\"><em><a style=\"color: #0000ff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2021\/03\/29\/hunter-biden-should-be-charged-for-lying-on-gun-application\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-testid=\"standard-link\">Hunter Biden violated the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act<\/a><\/em><\/span>\u00a0that his father \u201cshepherded through Congress\u201d by lying on the application and was <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>never<\/em><em> charged for it<\/em><\/span> \u2014 and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>never will be<\/em><\/span>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>I\u2019ll believe Democrats are serious about gun crime <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>when Hunter Biden is charged for his gun crime<\/em><\/span>.<\/strong><\/span>&#8220;<\/p>\n<p><strong>We&#8217;d advise against anyone holding their breath until it happens.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Here&#8217;s the juice: It&#8217;s&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/6ipovv.jpeg\"><img Williamson and The Left&#8217;s insincerity concerning combatting gun violence, in a related entry at\u00a0<em>The Corner<\/em>, Williamson goes into greater detail highlighting how, even when a plan is <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>readily available<\/em><\/span> to him, Biden isn&#8217;t willing to put it into play, relating<\/strong><\/p>\n<h1 class=\"article-header__title\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/corner\/biden-can-act-on-guns-without-congress-and-should\/\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #333399; text-decoration: underline;\">Biden CAN Act on Guns without Congress, and SHOULD<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/h1>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/6ipfq1.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-102588\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/6ipfq1.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"420\" height=\"238\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/6ipfq1.jpeg 420w, https:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/6ipfq1-300x170.jpeg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 420px) 100vw, 420px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"article-content article-content--headless\">\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8220;<span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong>Let me give you an example of exactly how dumb and dishonest our gun-control debate is.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">In his dopey candlelight-vigil speech on the issue, President Joe Biden said <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>a lot<\/em><\/span> of dumb things, some of them intentionally and some of them <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>hilariously unintentional<\/em><\/span>.<\/span> Leave it to Joe Biden of all people to worry about \u201cgum control\u201d \u2014\u00a0<em>sic\u00a0<\/em>\u2014 something he has never quite mastered.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">One of Biden\u2019s complaints was about the fact that if the federal government fails to complete the background check on a would-be gun-buyer within three business days, then the sale may proceed.<\/span> (<em>May<\/em>, not\u00a0<em>must<\/em>: It is up to the seller.) <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">That<\/span><\/em> is <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>true<\/em><\/span>.<\/span> In the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>overwhelming majority<\/em><\/span> of cases, this is <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>just the federal government being its predictably slow and ineffective self<\/em><\/span>. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">I have had background checks time-out myself, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>more than once<\/em><\/span>.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>However<\/em><\/span>, in a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>few<\/em><\/span> cases, a sale that <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>should not<\/em><\/span> have been approved ends up getting greenlighted because the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>clock runs out<\/em><\/span>. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Biden proposes to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>change<\/em><\/span> the law to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>forbid<\/em><\/span> that.<\/span> That <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>probably is not<\/em><\/span> going to happen and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>definitely should not<\/em><\/span> happen: The deadline was put into the law in the first place <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>to stop the federal government from using bureaucratic delays to create a shadow ban on firearms sales<\/em><\/span>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Here\u2019s the thing: President Biden <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>could<\/em><\/span> do something about this problem \u2014\u00a0<em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">today<\/span><\/em>\u2014 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>if<\/em><\/span> he <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>wanted to<\/em><\/span>, and he <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>doesn\u2019t need<\/em><\/span> Congress\u2019s approval <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>or<\/em><\/span> any change in the law.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>Right now<\/em><\/span>, when the federal government finds out that a sale that should have been stopped has proceeded because of the time limit, it does \u2014 this part will not surprise you! \u2014\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>absolutely nothing<\/em><\/span>. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>Somewhere<\/em><\/span> in some subbasement somewhere in the bowels of Washington, some bureaucrat mutters to himself, \u201cWell, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>that\u2019s<\/em><\/span> unfortunate.\u201d<\/span> And then <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>nothing else happens<\/em><\/span>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">These are sales for which people have filed the requisite paperwork at a licensed firearms dealer.<\/span> That means that we <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>not only<\/em><\/span> have the name, address, Social Security number, and other information <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>about the buyer<\/em><\/span>, we <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>also<\/em><\/span> have the make, model, and serial number <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>of the firearm<\/em><\/span> that changed hands. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">All it would take would be for someone to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>go and get the gun<\/em><\/span>.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong>You don\u2019t need Batman to fight that crime \u2014 you need a guy with a car and a shoebox.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Sending somebody out to pick up those guns would be a real improvement for several reasons: For one, we\u2019d be taking a gun out of the hand of a prohibited person, which is good in and of itself.<\/span> Second, in almost every case, a prohibited person who buys from a licensed retailer does so by lying on his application \u2014 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>as Joe Biden\u2019s son, Hunter, pretty obviously did<\/em><\/span> when acquiring a handgun a few years ago. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">(Hunter Biden is a prohibited person because he is a drug addict, and if he had not lied about that fact on his application, then it would have been rejected.)<\/span> That means that we <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>not only<\/em><\/span> have the opportunity to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>take the gun away<\/em><\/span>, we <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>also<\/em><\/span> have the opportunity to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>arrest the offender for a serious gun crime<\/em><\/span>.<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"> Often, there will be at least two charges that could be made: felon in possession (which by itself can bring as much as ten years in prison) and making a false statement to acquire a firearm \u2014 a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>fifth-degree federal felony<\/em><\/span>.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong>If we <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>wanted to<\/em><\/span>, we <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>could<\/em><\/span> take those guns \u2014 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>and<\/em><\/span> those criminals \u2014 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>off the streets<\/em><\/span>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">President Biden <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>does not need<\/em><\/span> Congress to change the law to make that happen. <span style=\"color: #333399;\">He <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>does not need<\/em><\/span> Mitch McConnell\u2019s permission.<\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>Nobody<\/em><\/span> can filibuster him.<\/span> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>All he has to do<\/em><\/span> is pick up the phone or put his name on a memo and instruct the lazy, useless, complacent, feckless, self-serving, waiting-around-for-their-retirements bums who work for him to get off their asses and do the job we pay them to do. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">You <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>don\u2019t need<\/em><\/span> a SWAT team for this \u2014 Skippy the Intern should be able to handle most of this work just fine.<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>But<\/em><\/span>, of course, Biden <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>will not do<\/em><\/span> what is within his power \u2014 and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>not only<\/em><\/span> because it would mean locking people up <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>for a crime committed by his idiot crackhead son<\/em><\/span>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Likewise, Biden <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>could<\/em><\/span> instruct the U.S. attorneys \u2014 the federal prosecutors who <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>serve at his pleasure<\/em><\/span> \u2014 to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>start prosecuting<\/em><\/span> straw-buyer cases and start putting real federal time on the table for the people who do so much to provide our nation\u2019s career criminals with a steady supply of firearms.<\/span> But he <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>won\u2019t do that<\/em><\/span>, either.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong>It is <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>not news<\/em><\/span> that Joe Biden is a <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">dishonest, lazy, conniving partisan coward<\/span><\/em>. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>That<\/em><\/span> has been <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>clear<\/em><\/span> since the last days of disco.<\/span> But if there are any intellectually honest Democrats left out there \u2014 and if there are, please, stand up and be counted \u2014 they <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>should<\/em><\/span> be asking why Biden <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>will not<\/em><\/span> do the things that he can do, especially given the fact that doing these things <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>would put the crosshairs on actual criminals<\/em><\/span>, something we should <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>all<\/em><\/span> be able to get behind.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">The numbers are what they are: <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>More than 80 percent<\/em><\/span> of our murderers are <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>habitual
