It’s Monday, August 15th, 2022…but before we begin, read this snippet from NRO’s account of the attempted murder of Salmon Rushdie<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/a> and then remember…<\/strong><\/p>\n

“Rushdie has been living under the threat of assassination since Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini \u2014 then the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran \u2014 issued a fatwa calling for the author to be killed in 1989. His fourth novel,\u00a0The Satanic Verses<\/em>, was published in 1988, and included what was considered by some to be an unflattering and blasphemous depiction of the Islamic prophet Muhammad.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The United Kingdom and Iran ended diplomatic relations with each other over the fatwa, and only reestablished<\/em><\/span> them in 1998 when the Iranian president<\/em><\/span> at the time, Mohammad Khatami, stated that he would \u201cneither support nor hinder assassination operations on Rushdie<\/em><\/span>.\u201d<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

There is a bounty on Rushdie\u2019s head of over $3 million offered by a religious foundation in Iran.<\/strong><\/span>“<\/p>\n

…THESE<\/em><\/span>\u00a0are the people with who Progressives are dying<\/em><\/span> to cut a nuclear arms deal.\u00a0 Not only was an Iranian operative recently arrested for plotting to assassinate former John Bolton…<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

…but as Larissa Knapp, executive assistant director of the FBI\u2019s National Security Branch recently stated:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cIran has a history of plotting to assassinate individuals in the U.S. it deems a threat.”<\/strong><\/p>\n

Then again, who can trust anything<\/span><\/em>\u00a0uttered by the FBI!<\/strong><\/p>\n

It must also be noted the president of Iran has as much real power and authority as the Queen of England.\u00a0 He, and it will always<\/em><\/span> be a “he”, is effectively a figurehead who carries out the decrees of, and answers directly to, the Supreme Leader, a life-long office occupied since 1989 by Ayatollah Ali Khameni, who has NOT rescinded<\/em><\/span> or taken a similarly meaningless, lukewarm position on the fatwa issued by his predecessor, Ayatollah\u00a0Ruhollah Khomeini.<\/strong><\/p>\n

We found this paragraph for a FOX News report<\/em><\/span><\/a>\u00a0both inaccurate and incongruous:<\/strong><\/p>\n

“Iran\u2019s government<\/em><\/span>\u00a0has long since distanced itself<\/em><\/span> from Khomeini\u2019s decree, but anti-Rushdie sentiment lingered. In 2012, a semi-official<\/em><\/span> Iranian religious<\/em><\/span> foundation raised<\/em><\/span> a bounty for Rushdie from $2.8 million to $3.3 million.<\/span><\/strong><\/span>“<\/p>\n

Inaccurate because the Supreme Leader is<\/em><\/span> the government of Iran, and Khameni has never<\/em><\/span> distanced himself or his nation from Khomeni’s decree.\u00a0 Incongruous owing to the fact Iran is a dictatorial theocracy in which there are no actions or thoughts other than<\/em><\/span> those of the Supreme Leader guided by the tenets of Shia Islam; Hence, any religious foundation permitted to exist is<\/em><\/span> “official”.\u00a0 Meanwhile, Iranian media, again, under the direct control of the Supreme Leader, are lauding the attempt on Rushdie’s life<\/em><\/span><\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

But, hey, when it comes to these madmen acquiring nuclear weapons…<\/strong><\/p>\n
