It’s Wednesday, December 14th, 2022…but before we begin,<\/strong>\u00a0evidently mistaking 1984<\/em> for a how-to manual, the once-respected Cambridge Dictionary has altered its definitions of “man” and “woman<\/em><\/span><\/a>“<\/span>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Which leads us to offer three related shots of the juice: <\/strong><\/p>\n

(1). In 2004, we were disappointed but not surprised when the politically-correct powers-that-be at our alma mater gender-neutralized the words to Navy Blue & Gold<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/a>.\u00a0 Then again, Rodney Rempf was a craven coward.<\/strong><\/p>\n

(2). We were far more<\/em><\/span> than surprised when we personally<\/em><\/span> heard the Commandant of Midshipman, a combat-tested Marine full-bird Colonel, apologize<\/em><\/span> to the leadership<\/em><\/span> of the Brigade of Midshipmen and its sports teams for using male pronouns while repeating the words of John Lejeune, the longest-serving Commandant of the Marine Corps.\u00a0 Think about it: the Commandant of Midshipman is concerned the psyches of the nation’s future combat leaders might be adversely impacted by his use of male pronouns in a quote from 1888?!?\u00a0 We might all as well start learning Mandarin!!!<\/strong><\/p>\n

(3). We were more than\u00a0<\/em>deeply<\/em><\/span> disappointed when in church this past Sunday we saw the words of Isaac Watts’ Joy to the World\u00a0<\/em>altered<\/em><\/span><\/a> from “let men<\/em><\/span> their songs employ” to “let all their<\/em><\/span> songs employ”.\u00a0 In the interest of full disclosure, we’ve never preferred mindlessly repetitive praise songs over classic Christian hymns.\u00a0 Our inherent bias notwithstanding, we’ll need convincing the author of such remarkable works as, in addition to Joy to the World<\/em>, When I Survey the Wondrous Cross<\/em> and Our God, Our Help in Ages Past<\/em>\u00a0requires the editing services of a contemporary Christian songwriter.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Some<\/em><\/span> Christians might allow the camel of carnality to continue poking more than its nose into their tent, but not<\/em><\/span> this one.<\/strong><\/p>\n
