text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/2023\/01\/bidens-as-good-as-it-gets-for-democrats\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-testid=\"dynamic-link\">4<\/a><\/span><\/em><\/span>\u00a0\u2014\u00a0I stand by that. <span style=\"color: #333399;\">His poll numbers have steadied as gas prices have fallen, and broken supply chains have healed.<\/span> He doesn\u2019t inspire the intensity of fear and loathing among Republicans that Bill Clinton and Barack Obama did. <span style=\"color: #333399;\">Yes, his party went on a spending spree at the end of the Covid emergency, but he\u2019s pivoting toward the middle as he prepares to run again, highlighting the parts of his administration that are genuinely popular \u2014 the infrastructure bill, and more energetic competition with China.<\/span> The great scandal of his administration is his son, Hunter Biden. <span style=\"color: #333399;\">And so far, the president has avoided direct implication in Hunter\u2019s bad dealings.<\/span> In some ways, Biden has turned it into an advantage. <span style=\"color: #333399;\">In a country that consumes 80 percent of the global supply of opioids, loving a troubled addict child is sadly relatable.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>But let\u2019s be clear. <span style=\"color: #333399;\">Joe Biden is their\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>best<\/em><\/span>\u00a0choice, but that\u2019s not really a good thing.<\/span> An approval rating in the low 40s is not a great place for an incumbent president to start. <span style=\"color: #333399;\">A\u00a0December survey\u00a0found that a majority of Democrats don\u2019t want Joe Biden to run for president again.<\/span> Sixty-one percent of Democrats who said that he shouldn\u2019t run again cited his age.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #333399;\">Yeah, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>that<\/em><\/span>.<\/span> Joe Biden will be 82 a few weeks after the next election. <span style=\"color: #333399;\">He\u2019ll be 86 at the end of the next term.<\/span> You might have noticed it this week when he bragged,\u00a0\u201c<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff; text-decoration: underline;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/media\/biden-mocked-bizarre-boast-half-women-team-women-biologist\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" testid=\"standard-link\" class=\"broken_link\">More than half the women in my administration are women<\/a><\/span><\/em><\/span>.\u201d <span style=\"color: #333399;\">An 80-year-old crowbar might have been the handiest tool for removing a real-estate mogul from the Oval Office in 2020.<\/span> But you also might have noticed that a recession is on the way, the United States is in proxy war with Russia over Ukraine, China is dropping new naval ships into the Pacific every few months, and we\u2019re nearly $19 billion behind on weapons deliveries to Taiwan. <span style=\"color: #333399;\">Do you <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">really<\/span><\/em> want an 85-year-old behind the wheel during this time?<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Well, maybe you do if you look at the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>other<\/em><\/span> options: Kamala Harris. Pete Buttigieg. The Justice Department and the FBI are not famously tolerant of defiance.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong>It borders on the hilarious, then, that the DOJ and the bureau have replied to subpoenas from the House Judiciary Committee, now under Republican control, with a\u00a0<em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/doj-fires-back-jim-jordan-wray-garland-subpoenas\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-testid=\"standard-link\">snippy letter<\/a><\/span>\u00a0<\/em>wondering why Congress is not tripping over itself to negotiate with the Biden administration over the subpoenas\u2019 demands, and why the committee is acting as if its assessments of its needs take precedence over the priorities of the unelected bureaucrats who run agencies that Congress created and that depend on Congress to fund their operations.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong>I mean, who does Jim Jordan think he is?
