I said, \u2018You can\u2019t win, can you? How do you \u2013 can [you] win?'&#8221; Trump said, recalling the\u00a0<strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>alleged<\/em><\/span> <\/strong>conversation with DeSantis. &#8220;\u2018Sir, if you endorse me, I\u2019ll win. <strong><em>Please<\/em>, <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">please<\/span><\/em><\/strong>, sir, endorse me,'&#8221; Trump continued<strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>as he acted out a crying, begging voice<\/em><\/span><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">While similar jabs against political opponents have been a hit with Trump&#8217;s crowds during past rallies, those in attendance were<strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>noticeably more silent<\/em><\/span> <\/strong>as Trump took aim\u00a0at DeSantis. Kevin Salas Madrid, 24, confronted the <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>serial shoplifter<\/em><\/span><\/strong> and <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>told him to leave the store<\/em><\/span><\/strong> at which point <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>the shoplifter punched him in the face which knocked off Madrid&#8217;s eyeglasses<\/em><\/span><\/strong>,\u00a0FOX 10 Phoenix reported.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Madrid then allegedly pulled out a gun and shot the shoplifter at least 10 times, <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>including<\/em><\/span><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em> several times when the shoplifter was on the ground<\/em><\/span><\/strong>. &#8220;Kevin stated he had made the worst decision of his life,&#8221; police said in his probable cause statement.<picture><\/picture>&#8220;Kevin explained he was struck and decided to shoot but looking back, he realized it was egregious.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">One employee in the store said that Madrid fired as many as 15 shots and admitted after the shooting that he could not control his anger,\u00a0Arizona&#8217;s Family reported&#8230;&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>This is the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>inevitable<\/em><\/span> result of Progressive approaches to and policies impacting crime at every level.\u00a0 Consider shoplifting as the base level, the broken window of criminal activity as\u00a0 it were.\u00a0 When shoplifters were granted the &#8220;right&#8221; to steal with impunity and retailers burdened with the liability for any injury caused by store employees attempting to intervene, criminals were emboldened to begin inflicting bodily harm on anyone who refused to recognize their newfound freedom to commit felonies.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Anyone in law enforcement will tell you Mr. Madrid&#8217;s odds of being shot, stabbed or beat within an inch of his life after being punched were about 50\/50.\u00a0 And while continuing to shoot after his assailant had fallen to the ground may look bad on camera, as is demonstrated at the 2:39 point in this video&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/p8BBXv-aZug?start=159\" width=\"420\" height=\"235\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8230;it&#8217;s a basic tenet of defensive firearm tactics: You shoot until the threat is neutralized.\u00a0 We haven&#8217;t seen surveillance footage showing what happened in the Family Dollar, and if Madrid was able, he first course of action should have been to put space between himself and his attacker.\u00a0 But having lost his glasses after being struck in the face by an unprovoked attack, we can&#8217;t say what he was seeing, let alone feeling and thinking.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Here&#8217;s the juice: There was one person in complete control of events up until the time Kevin Madrid pulled his piece, and that was the serial thief, who curiously remains unidentified <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>and<\/em><\/span> undescribed.\u00a0 To us, this is a question of what law abiding citizens should be able to do in defending themselves against unprovoked attack; At some point, proportionality has to give way to exigent circumstances, circumstances <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>created by the criminal<\/em><\/span>.\u00a0 Again, the first course of action should have been&#8230;<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>if possible<\/em><\/span>&#8230;to put space between himself and his attacker.\u00a0 But we weren&#8217;t there, hadn&#8217;t had our glasses knocked off by a sucker punch to the head and weren&#8217;t Mr. Madrid&#8217;s shoes.\u00a0 But regardless of what went down, there&#8217;s no way in our mind a murder charge sticks in this case.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Then there&#8217;s four short video clips we thought well worth your time:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>(i). Patty Murray, D-Wash., Maria Cantwell, D-Wash., and Rep. Mike Simpson, R-Idaho, to &#8220;bring healthy and abundant salmon runs back&#8221; to the Columbia River system. The president didn&#8217;t say he would work with lawmakers or industry groups that have adamantly opposed breaching the dams.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Over the last several years \u2014 amid\u00a0declining salmon populations\u00a0in the lower Snake River which winds through Idaho and southwestern Washington before feeding into the Columbia River which, in turn, feeds into the Pacific Ocean \u2014 Murray and Cantwell have opened the door to proposals breaching four federally managed dams in the river system. And Simpson has gone further, crafting a $33.5 billion framework endorsed by tribes to breach the dams.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">There are several major problems with glibly saying, &#8216;We&#8217;re going to destroy the dams,'&#8221; said Todd Myers, the environmental director for the free market think tank Washington Policy Center. &#8220;The first is that it is <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>contrary to the science.<\/em><\/span><\/strong> The Army Corps of Engineers, NOAA Fisheries and others did <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>the most comprehensive scientific assessment of the dams ever<\/em><\/span><\/strong> a few years ago. And it concluded <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>very clearly<\/em><\/span><\/strong> that we should <strong><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">keep the dams<\/span><\/em><\/strong> and that <strong><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">salmon can recover with the dams<\/span><\/em><\/strong>.&#8221;\u00a0<picture><\/picture>&#8220;The Biden administration is <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>going against the most comprehensive scientific assessment done by the federal government itself<\/em><\/span><\/strong>,&#8221; Myers continued.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Myers \u2014 who is also a member of the Puget Sound Salmon Recovery Council, a state agency created to study and inform government efforts to restore dwindling salmon \u2014 added that breaching the four lower Snake River dams would be a &#8220;remarkable waste&#8221; of tens of billions of dollars considering the <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>relatively minor impact<\/em><\/span><\/strong> such a project would have on the species.\u00a0&#8220;I think you&#8217;re getting a sense of how <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>this is really more about ideology and a romance of open, undammed rivers than it is about environmental benefits<\/em><\/span><\/strong>,&#8221; Myers told Fox News Digital.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">In addition, multiple government and private reports have determined that breaching the dams would have a dramatic impact on energy production,\u00a0climate goals\u00a0and transportation in Washington.\u00a0Overall, hydropower accounted for 67% of Washington&#8217;s electricity generation in 2022, making the state by far the largest producer of hydropower. Electricity from the state&#8217;s hydropower alone represents 10% of the nation&#8217;s total renewable energy-generated electricity. &#8220;The environmental impact of such a drastic increase cannot be overstated \u2013 and I sincerely and fundamentally struggle to understand how our friends in the environmental community can hear this data and not be truly alarmed,&#8221; Rep.
