Repeatedly Deported Illegal Murders Five<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/h1>\n

“An\u00a0intentional invasion<\/a><\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0of our southern border has been welcomed and enabled by Joe Biden\u2019s administration. Democrats are politically invested in the results of millions of migrants making their way to the U.S., and they are increasingly ideologically committed to the idea that a national border is fundamentally unfair and wrong. Sometimes the people illegally crossing our border do other<\/em><\/span><\/strong> illegal things, sometimes horrific<\/span><\/em><\/strong> things.<\/p>\n

Such was the case with Francisco Oropesa, the Mexican national accused of murdering five of his neighbors in Texas Friday night after they asked him to stop firing his gun because of a sleeping baby. They called police and were assured help was on the way, but not before Oropeza reloaded and headed for their house. \u201cI never thought that he would shoot,\u201d said Wilson Garcia, whose wife and son were murdered. Oropesa also tried to shoot Garcia but missed. \u201cThen he went room to room, looking for people.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sonia Argentina Guzman (25), Diana Velazquez Alvarado (21), Julisa Molina Rivera (31), Jose Jonathan Casarez (18), and Daniel Enrique Laso (8) were all shot in the head execution style. Two of the women shielded three young children who survived. All five were from Honduras, though their legal status is unclear<\/em><\/span><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

What is<\/em><\/span><\/strong> clear is that Oropesa was here illegally<\/em><\/span><\/strong> this time, and he\u2019d been deported<\/em><\/span><\/strong> as many as five times previously. As we go to press, American authorities are still searching for him, with a combined $80,000 reward for tips leading to his apprehension. He\u2019s considered armed and dangerous. As for that open border,\u00a087% of Americans<\/a><\/em><\/span><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0know exactly<\/em><\/span><\/strong> where to put the blame: on the federal government<\/span><\/em><\/strong>. (More specifically, Joseph Robinette Biden, Jr<\/span>.<\/em>)<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

…Voters will have a choice next year between continued humanitarian crisis and murderous mayhem brought by Joe Biden\u2019s open border or any number of Republican candidates who believe that a secure border is a fundamental responsibility<\/em><\/span><\/strong> of a presidential administration.<\/p>\n

How many more<\/em><\/span><\/strong> innocent people have to die before that choice becomes a bit easier?”<\/p>\n

Setting aside for the moment the question of how Mr. Oropesa crossed our border with repeated and complete impunity, what inquiring Conservative minds want to know is how an illegal alien who’d been deported multiple times was able to obtain an AR-15?\u00a0 We’re willing to bet he didn’t acquire it legally<\/em><\/span>, meaning Progressives’ dream of a ban on the most popular semi-automatic rifle in the country wouldn’t have prevented his killing spree.\u00a0 On the other hand, were our southern border effectively controlled, Senor Oropesa would have been in Mexico, not America.\u00a0 It’s also ironic the victims, all of who likely came here from Honduras for a better life, would have still been there…and alive.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Supreme Court to Hear Case That Could Rein in Federal Agencies<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/h1>\n

“The Supreme Court agreed to hear\u00a0Loper Bright Enterprises v. Raimondo<\/em>, a case which could see an end to Chevron deference, in which courts defer to a federal agency\u2019s interpretation of an ambiguous statute.<\/em><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The Court limited its grant of certiorari to the second question presented \u2014 namely, \u201cwhether the Court should overrule\u00a0Chevron<\/em>\u00a0or at least clarify<\/em><\/span><\/strong> that statutory silence<\/em><\/span><\/strong> concerning controversial powers expressly<\/em><\/span><\/strong> but narrowly<\/em><\/span><\/strong> granted elsewhere<\/em><\/span><\/strong> in the statute does not constitute an ambiguity requiring deference to the agency<\/em><\/span><\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n

Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson recused herself because she heard arguments in this case when she was on the D.C. Circuit. Jackson did not participate in that court\u2019s final opinion, being replaced by Judge Sri Srinivasan after President Joe Biden nominated her to fill Justice Stephen Breyer\u2019s seat.<\/p>\n

The case involves Loper Bright Enterprises, a family\u2010\u200bowned herring fishing company that operates in New England waters. A National Marine Fisheries Service regulation requires that herring fishing boats allow<\/span><\/em> an additional person<\/em><\/span><\/strong> on board to serve as a monitor<\/em><\/span><\/strong>, tracking compliance with federal regulations. The monitor\u2019s salary must be paid by the fishing company being monitored<\/em><\/span><\/strong>, reducing fishing profits in a business where margins are tight. Loper Bright Enterprises and other fishing companies sued to challenge the rule, saying the Magnuson-Stevens Act doesn\u2019t mention payment of the monitor<\/em><\/span><\/strong>, but the district court ruled against the industry.<\/p>\n

A divided panel on the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals\u00a0ruled\u00a0that the agency had appropriately interpreted the statute, deferring under the Chevron framework. Judge Justin Walker dissented, arguing \u201cCongress did not\u2026authorize<\/span><\/em><\/strong> the National Marine Fisheries Service to make herring fishermen in the Atlantic pay the wages of federal monitors<\/em><\/span><\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Biden administration had\u00a0urged\u00a0the Supreme Court not to take up the case in an amicus brief, arguing it is an unsuitable vehicle in which to modify or overrule\u00a0Chevron<\/em>.<\/p>\n

…After examining over 140 recent appellate cases, the Cato Institute, which filed an amicus brief in this case,\u00a0concluded<\/a><\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0that \u201ccourts of appeals still defer<\/em><\/span><\/strong> under\u00a0Chevron<\/em>\u00a0with regularity, despite<\/em><\/span><\/strong> the Supreme Court\u2019s increasing reluctance<\/em><\/span><\/strong> to invoke the doctrine.\u201d \u201cChevron<\/em>\u00a0will not fade away completely until the Supreme Court overrules it,\u201d the group added.”<\/p>\n

Here’s hoping the five wise men and woman on the SCOTUS decide this case the “right” way, as ending Chevron deference would have immense repercussions across our out-of-control federal bureaucracy.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“Geoffrey Hinton, a Google engineer widely considered the godfather of\u00a0artificial intelligence,<\/a>\u00a0has quit his job and is now warning of the dangers of further AI development. Hinton worked at Google for more than a decade and is responsible for a 2012 tech breakthrough that serves as the foundation of\u00a0current AIs like ChatGPT<\/a><\/strong><\/em><\/span>.\u00a0He announced his resignation from Google in a statement to the New York Times, saying he now regrets his work.<\/p>\n

“I console myself with the normal excuse: If I hadn\u2019t done it, somebody else would have,” he told the paper. “It is hard to see how you can prevent the bad actors from using it for bad things,” Hinton went on to say of AI…”<\/p>\n
