And keep in mind that two to three days after Susan Rice appeared on the Sunday shows, using these talking points, which have been the source of all this controversy, I sent up the head of our National Counterterrorism Center, Matt Olsen, up to Capitol Hill and specifically said it was an act of terrorism and that extremist elements inside of Libya had been involved in it.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">So if this was some effort on our part to try to downplay what had happened or tamp it down, that would be a pretty odd thing that three days later we end up putting out all the information that, in fact, has now served as the basis for everybody recognizing that this was a terrorist attack and that it may have included elements that were planned by extremists inside of Libya.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Who executes some sort of cover-up or effort to tamp things down for three days?\u00a0<strong><span style=\"color: #008000;\">(Other than someone who thinks his absolute control of the MSM permits him to do so?!?)<\/span><\/strong> So the whole thing defies logic. David H. Petraeus, the former director forced to resign after a sex scandal, is a dangerous man to the Obama administration.<\/strong> <strong><span style=\"color: #800080;\">Mad and intent on getting even, he\u2019s already talking, telling one reporter the talking points were \u201cuseless\u201d and that he preferred not to use them at all.<\/span> The floodgates will open this week, and by the end of business Friday, the scandal will be full blown.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>And though the blame for Benghazi may not ultimately be affixed to Hillary&#8217;s ample to target political enemies but of course he never would. <span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong> It appears that people at the Internal Revenue Service didn&#8217;t think he was joking.<\/strong> <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">That&#8217;s become clear since IRS Director of Exempt Organizations Lois Lerner admitted on Friday that the agency targeted conservatives for special tax-exempt scrutiny during the 2012 election season. <span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong>The story has already blossomed into the latest abuse of government power, as documents show the IRS targeted tea party types and groups that specifically opposed the Obama Administration.<\/strong> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>But trust him; like Sergeant Schultz&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Justice Department secretly obtained AP phone records<\/span><\/h1>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/time-to-fire-holder-crook-politics-1322968806.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>The Justice Department secretly obtained two months of telephone records of reporters and editors for The Associated Press in what the news cooperative&#8217;s top executive called a &#8220;massive and unprecedented intrusion&#8221; into how news organizations gather the news.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">The records obtained by the Justice Department listed outgoing calls for the work and personal phone numbers of individual reporters, for general AP office numbers in New York, Washington and Hartford, Conn., and for the main number for the AP in the House of Representatives press gallery, according to attorneys for the AP. It was not clear if the records also included incoming calls or the duration of the calls.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">In all, the government seized the records for more than 20 separate telephone lines assigned to AP and its journalists in April and May of 2012. <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>The exact number of journalists who used the phone lines during that period is unknown, but more than 100 journalists work in the offices where phone records were targeted, on a wide array of stories about government and other matters.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>In a letter of protest sent to Attorney General Eric Holder on Monday, AP President and Chief Executive Officer Gary Pruitt said the government sought and obtained information far beyond anything that could be justified by any specific investigation.<\/strong><\/span> He demanded the return of the phone records and destruction of all copies.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">&#8220;There can be no possible justification for such an overbroad collection of the telephone communications of The Associated Press and its reporters.<\/span> These records potentially reveal communications with confidential sources across all of the newsgathering activities undertaken by the AP during a two-month period, provide a road map to AP&#8217;s newsgathering operations and disclose information about AP&#8217;s activities and operations that the government has no conceivable right to know,&#8221; Pruitt said.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">The government would not say why it sought the records. Officials have previously said in public testimony that the U.S. attorney in Washington is conducting a criminal investigation into who may have provided information contained in a May 7, 2012, AP story about a foiled terror plot. The administration has been exploring how to ease Russian concerns that the US missile defense shield is aimed at countering Russia&#8217;s nuclear arsenal.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Arms control advocates have suggested that revealing missile interceptor capabilities could provide a breakthrough on an issue that Russia says stands in the way of nuclear arms reductions.<\/strong><\/span> But doing so would provoke charges by Republicans that the administration is compromising national security to appease Moscow.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong>Under questioning at a hearing on Wednesday, Missile Defense Agency director Vice Adm.
