It’s Wednesday, January 21st, 2015…and not just no, but HELL NO<\/em><\/span> we didn’t watch the SOTUS. \u00a0First, we can’t stomach even a minute<\/em><\/span> of Barry’s bleating. \u00a0Second, if we wanted to waste our time listening to propaganda, there’s plenty of Joseph Goebbels’ greatest hits available on the Web.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Now, here’s The Gouge!<\/b><\/p>\n

First up, courtesy of one David Carr writing for The New York Times<\/em>, a brief glimpse into the tortured psyche that is the mind of the modern Progressive:<\/b><\/p>\n

Why the Oscars\u2019 Omission of \u2018Selma\u2019 Matters<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/h1>\n

Monday is Martin Luther King Jr. Day and given the context, it is an interesting moment to ask whether it really matters that the motion picture academy failed to nominate the black director and the black lead actor of \u201cSelma,\u201d the King biopic, for Oscars.\u00a0After all, it lands fairly low on the list of indignities visited on African-Americans: No unarmed people died, no innocent citizens were patted down or jailed<\/em><\/span>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

But yes, it still matters<\/em><\/span>.<\/span> The news continues to be full of all manner of pathology and victimization involving black Americans, and when a moment comes to celebrate both a historical giant and a pure creative achievement, it merits significant and broad recognition<\/em><\/span>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Many would say that it should suffice that \u201c12 Years a Slave,\u201d a film by a black director about black history, won best picture last year, and \u201cSelma\u201d was nominated this year, and that any grievance is a conjured one.<\/span> I disagree<\/em><\/span>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Forget about the Oscars; we couldn’t care less. \u00a0We’ve never watched them and never will; and we’ve never given a hoot in hell what movie, actor or actress won one. \u00a0<\/b>\u00a0So you can imagine our disdain for other Hollywood-created orgies of self-congratulation like the Golden Globes or Emmys.<\/strong><\/p>\n

No, the point is, this is Progressive political correctness eating its own<\/em><\/span>. \u00a0To which we can only say, bon appetit!!! \u00a0As Carr continues…<\/strong><\/p>\n

…And no club in the United States<\/em><\/span> \u2014 over the last several years, the academy\u00a0has been around 93 percent white, 76 percent male and an average of 63 years old \u2014 is in more need of new blood than Hollywood<\/em><\/span>.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

…As someone who once spent a great deal of time reporting on the ins and outs of the Oscars<\/em>, I know that the snub is not some overt racial conspiracy at work<\/em><\/span>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

…While the snubs may sting and point toward a broader blindness<\/em><\/span>, it\u2019s still more important in the long run that a young female black director received the backing of a Hollywood studio and made an important film. Long after the last blubbering actor has been played off the stage while thanking his or her makeup assistant at the Oscars, we will still have \u201cSelma<\/span><\/em>.\u201d<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Soooo…a not-so-subtle hint the Academy’s racist<\/em><\/span>…followed by an inside, personal assessment they’re not<\/em><\/span>…summed up with a thinly-veiled hint they are<\/em><\/span>! \u00a0No self-contradiction there<\/em><\/span>!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Yeah, we’ll still have Selma<\/em>; that<\/em><\/span> and a quarter won’t even buy your average Black child born to a single mother a cup of coffee, let alone them the slightest benefit whatsoever. \u00a0It only allows Liberal Whites who need to feel good about themselves the opportunity to make their politically-correct indignance heard, without actually making any serious effort to identify the real<\/em><\/span> problem, let alone solve<\/em><\/span> it.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

As Hope n’ Change<\/em> suggested, and in line with the undeniably hypocritical whites-need-not-apply BET Awards, this calls for a…<\/strong><\/p>\n

“…Fortunately, the Diversity Task Force came up with a brilliant idea and announced that the always-diverse Black Entertainment Television network will now host the all-black Hollywood “Sharpie Awards.”<\/p>\n

There will be awards for “Best Blacktor”<\/i> and “Best Blacktress,”<\/i> as well as awards for “Best Denzel Washington Movie,” “Best Movie With Tyler Perry In A Housedress,” “Best Movie That Oprah Had Any Damn Thing To Do With,”<\/i> and the “Samuel Fucking Jackson Lifetime Achievement Award” <\/i>which, it is rumored, will be posthumously awarded to Ferguson’s own Michael Brown for his non-moving performance in “Hands Up, Don’t Shoot.”<\/i><\/p>\n

Currently, neither the Reverend Sharpton nor his Diversity Task Force has announced plans for a Martin Luther King “Content Of Character” award<\/em><\/span>.”<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Just give them their own<\/em><\/span> meaningless award show; problem solved!<\/strong><\/p>\n
