\u00a0Abso<em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">LUTE<\/span><\/em>ly! \u00a0Do we believe he would delay or even refuse to authorize a rescue operation if its failure might damage him politically, regardless of the accuracy of the intelligence? \u00a0In other words, shed no tears for the demise of Mr. Williams.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><b>Moving on, writing at <em>First Things<\/em>, Thomas Madden demonstrates why Ronald Reagan was right when he observed,\u00a0<\/b><strong>\u201cIt isn&#8217;t so much that liberals are ignorant. If the Crusades spawned anti-Western jihads, isn\u2019t it reasonable to see them as the root cause of the current jihads? <span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>The answer is no, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>but to understand it requires more than the scant minutes journalists are usually willing to spare<\/em><\/span>. <em><span style=\"color: #800080;\">It requires a grasp not only of the Crusades <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">but of the ways those wars have been exploited and distorted for modern agenda<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/span><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #800080;\"><em><strong>s<\/strong><\/em><\/span>&#8230;&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>In a related item, we agree with\u00a0<em>Commentary Magazine<\/em>&#8216;s Seth Mandel when he suggests&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<h1 class=\"post-title\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><a style=\"color: #ff0000; text-decoration: underline;\" title=\"We Have to Talk About Obama\u2019s Ignorance\" href=\"https:\/\/www.commentarymagazine.com\/2015\/02\/11\/talk-obamas-ignorance\/\" rel=\"bookmark\" class=\"broken_link\">We Have to Talk About Obama\u2019s Ignorance<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/h1>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/putin_against_obama_stupid_bin.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-29518\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/putin_against_obama_stupid_bin.jpg\" alt=\"putin_against_obama_stupid_bin\" width=\"400\" height=\"277\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/putin_against_obama_stupid_bin.jpg 400w, https:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/putin_against_obama_stupid_bin-300x208.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8220;&#8230;Obama is wrong about Putin and the KGB. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Ben Judah, a journalist who recently wrote a book on Putin\u2019s Russia, responded: \u201c<em>The interesting and informative thing about Obama\u2019s view on Putin <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">is how uninsightful and uniformed it is<\/span><\/em>.\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Putin ran the FSB\u2013the successor agency to the KGB\u2013and the difference matters. <span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong>But what also matters is the emerging pattern for Obama\u2019s view of the world: <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>he has no idea what he\u2019s talking about<\/em><\/span>. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">The president, as Sam Cooke sang, don\u2019t know much about history.<\/span> And it\u2019s evident in each major area of conflict the president seeks to solve and ends up only exacerbating.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">It is not my intention to run down a list of all Obama\u2019s flubs. Everybody makes mistakes, and any politician whose words are as scrutinized as the president\u2019s is going to have their share of slip-ups. Yes, Obama is a clumsy public speaker; but that\u2019s not the problem, nor is it worth spending much time on.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>The problem is that Obama tends to make mistakes that stem from a worldview often at odds with reality<\/em><\/span>.<\/strong> <\/span>Russia is a good example. Does it matter that Obama doesn\u2019t know the basics of Vladimir Putin\u2019s biography and the transition of post-Soviet state security? <span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong>Yes, it does, because Obama\u2019s habit of misreading Putin has been at the center of his administration\u2019s failed Russia policy.<\/strong><\/span> <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>And it matters with regard not only to Russia but to his broader foreign policy <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>because Obama has a habit of not listening to anyone not named Jarrett<\/em><\/span>.<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0<strong><span style=\"color: #008000;\">(Who knows even <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>less<\/em><\/span> than Barry!)<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0Obama appointed among the most qualified American ambassadors ever to represent the U.S. abroad in sending Michael McFaul to Moscow. <span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong>But with or without McFaul, Obama let his own na\u00efvet\u00e9 guide him<\/strong><\/span>&#8230;&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>As with every rule, there&#8217;s always an exception; and in the case of Reagan&#8217;s observation of Liberals, The Great Prevaricator&#8217;s <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>it<\/em><\/span>; Obama not only knows so many things that aren&#8217;t so, he&#8217;s supremely confident in not only his utter ignorance, but that of his cretinous counsels.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>And as our next two items detail, The Obamao&#8217;s lack of actionable intellect isn&#8217;t limited to distant shores. \u00a0First, Exhibit &#8220;A&#8221;, courtesy of Daniel Francis Feeney and\u00a0<em>Ethan Penner&#8217;s me how our economic recovery is now finally on firm ground. \u00a0 This claim is based upon the fact that the stock market is at historical highs, the U.S. government can borrow money at historically low rates, the federal budget deficit is lower now than it\u2019s been in years, inflation rates are extremely low, gasoline prices are lower than they&#8217;ve been in a long while, and the unemployment rate is down to a very nice level. \u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Most of those who express this exuberance are left-leaning Democrats, who in the same breath, knowing I\u2019m no fan of our current President and believed he would lead us to some version of ruin, give me a version of \u201cHow does it feel to have been so wrong?\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span class=\"s1\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>What I find most ironic is that this recovery that the President and his fans are bragging about having engineered has benefited that dreaded 1% <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>and has not delivered much if any benefit to anyone else<\/em><\/span>.<\/strong> <\/span>\u00a0Back in the 1980\u2019s Republican economists coined the term \u201ctrickle down economics,\u201d which meant initiating policies that would benefit the people at the top so that ultimately crumbs would fall and thus raise the lots of the masses. \u00a0Democrats ridiculed this notion then and have for years since until now when they have not only embraced it themselves but are actually bragging about how successfully they&#8217;ve pulled it off. \u00a0<span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">The only problem is that there has been no trickle down benefit to speak of.<\/span> <span style=\"color: #008000;\">\u00a0The 99% are not doing any better than they were five years ago, and many, if not most, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">are<\/span> doing worse<\/em><\/span>.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span class=\"s1\">Indeed, the cost of capital is super low, which many believed would spur corporate spending and hiring, as well as inspire the creation of new businesses. \u00a0None of this has happened. \u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Companies have hoarded cash, especially multi-nationals who do not wish to repatriate overseas earnings and pay huge tax bills. \u00a0<span style=\"color: #008000;\">Massive natural deflationary pressures born from the efficiencies brought about by technological innovation as well as globalized trade have rightfully spooked business leaders who have managed their companies with great frugality.<\/span> \u00a0And, even though the cost of capital is low, <em>restrictive lending policies that were introduced after the subprime crisis has limited its availability mostly <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">to those who don\u2019t need it or don\u2019t want it<\/span><\/em>. \u00a0<span style=\"color: #008000;\"><em>New business creation <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">has hovered near historical lows<\/span><\/em>.<\/span><\/strong> <\/span><span style=\"color: #333399;\">\u00a0<\/span>Real wages are stagnant, especially for a post-recession period, and people basically haven\u2019t received a raise in decades. \u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>The labor participation rate, which measures the percentage of people employed out of those eligible for employment, and is a far more accurate barometer of the employment situation, is at historical lows.<\/strong><\/span> \u00a0And, part time employment in the service sector (such as flipping burgers at McDonald\u2019s) makes up far too large a portion of employment gains in recent years. \u00a0<span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>Low wage jobs account for more than 40% of all jobs added in this recovery.<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong><span class=\"s1\"><em>The Obama recovery has been a huge success for those at the very top of the food chain, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">and a complete bust for everyone else<\/span><\/em>. \u00a0<span style=\"color: #008000;\"><em>This is the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">reality<\/span><\/em>.<\/span> \u00a0Trickle down economics, <em>Democrat-style, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">has not under the threshold of the 30-hour work week, thanks to Obamacare.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">In an interview with Buzzfeed\u2019s Ben Smith, Obama took issue with a story about the office supply company Staples threatening to fire workers who work more than 25 hours a week.\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>\u201cI haven\u2019t looked at Staples stock lately or what the compensation of the CEO is, but I suspect that they could well afford to treat their workers favorably and give them some basic financial security,\u201d he said. <span style=\"color: #333399;\">\u201cAnd if they can\u2019t, then they should be willing to allow those workers to get the Affordable Care Act without cutting wages.\u201d<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Obama indicated he\u00a0was tired of hearing about companies cutting hours and wages from part time employees as a result of Obamacare.\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>\u201c[W]hen I hear large corporations that make billions of dollars in profits trying to blame our interest in providing health insurance as an excuse for cutting back style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">During a heated discussion over gay marriage, CNN morning Anchor Chris Cuomo opined that the unalienable rights endowed to all Americans do not come from God.\u00a0Cuomo was debating Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore on the constitutionality of same-sex marriage. Near the end of the back-and-forth and after Moore argued that rights cannot be handed down by men, Cuomo blurted out:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong><em>\u201cOur rights do not come from God, your honor, and you know that. They come from man&#8230; <span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">That\u2019s your faith, that\u2019s my faith, but that\u2019s not our country.<\/span> Our laws come from collective agreement and compromise.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Maybe Mr. Cuomo flunked elementary civics. The opening sentence of the second paragraph of the Declaration of Independence clearly affirms:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><em>\u201cWe hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">endowed by their Creator<\/span> with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.&#8211;That <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">to secure these rights<\/span>, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed\u2026\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><strong>It may be more convenient to Cuomo\u2019s political philosophy that a select few are empowered to grant rights to the masses, but it certainly is not part of this country\u2019s foundation.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">What\u2019s worse is Cuomo is advocating \u201ccollective\u201d rights. <span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong>He speaks as if every American right can simply be overturned at a whim simply because &#8220;times change.&#8221;\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><em>\u201cSure, freedom of speech was great in 1789, but we&#8217;ve evolved beyond that as a collective society.\u201d<\/em><\/span><\/strong><\/span> This is a very dangerous slope on which to tread.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Maybe CNN will help their anchors learn American history on the network\u2019s new game show. That allowed the propaganda against vaccines to go on for years. <span style=\"color: #008080;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #800080;\">Eventually, however, the results of the studies so completely discredited the claim that the measles vaccine caused autism that the medical journal which had published the article publicly repudiated it.<\/span> The doctor who wrote the article had his license revoked.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>By this time, however, there was a whole width=\"325\" height=\"243\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8220;&#8230;Now one thing we millennials supposedly love is \u201cdata journalism.\u201d So let\u2019s back up and see whether there exists <em>any<\/em> data to back up Tumulty et al.\u2019s claims that we millennials have just suffered a loss on par with the demise of the Lennon-McCartney partnership.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">As of 2013,<em>\u00a0The<\/em>\u00a0<em>Daily Show <\/em>was bringing in approximately 2 million nightly viewers. And according to anexhaustive Pew Survey from 2012, 39 percent of <em>The<\/em>\u00a0<em>Daily Show\u2019<\/em>s regular viewers are between the ages of 18 and 29. <span style=\"color: #ff00ff;\"><strong>That means that approximately 780,000 millennials are regular <em>Daily Show<\/em> watchers. <span style=\"color: #800080;\">In the United States, there are 53 million people between the ages of 18 and 29.<\/span> That means that a whopping <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>1.5 percent of millennials<\/em><\/span> watch <em>the Daily Show<\/em> regularly!<\/strong><\/span> Let\u2019s be generous and assume that, say, 5 million people watch <em>The Daily Show<\/em> even occasionally.
