There’s liars, damned liars…and then there’s Hillary!<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On December 8, 1979, (actually ’78)<\/strong><\/span> \u00a0two Zairean air-force jets approached the airport in Kinshasa, the capital what is now the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The tower radioed the pilots, telling them they couldn\u2019t land; the air-traffic controllers were concerned about low visibility.<\/span><\/p>\n

But when the pilots were told that they \u201ccouldn\u2019t land,\u201d they didn\u2019t think, \u201cI can\u2019t land right now,<\/i>\u201d they thought, \u201cI can\u2019t land, ever.\u201d So they ejected from their planes, letting two perfectly good Mirage jets crash into the Atlantic Ocean.<\/span><\/p>\n

These men weren\u2019t fools. Idiots don\u2019t fly jets. (With all due respect to Jonah, we beg to differ; if the story’s true, these two were<\/em><\/span>\u00a0in fact idiots!!!)<\/span><\/strong> It\u2019s just that, for an instant, they were thinking according to an entirely different set of rules about how life works. \u201cCan\u2019t\u201d means \u201cnever, ever, possible\u201d according to these rules — not \u201cwait an hour,\u201d or \u201cfind a different runway.\u201d And so they hit the eject button.<\/span><\/p>\n

Longtime readers may recall I got this story from a great book, David Lamb\u2019s The Africans<\/i><\/span>. Lamb went on to observe that many Africans have a slightly different interpretation of cause and effect. In the West, the lesson the average person would take from a near-fatal car crash at high speeds on a hairpin turn would be, \u201cMan, that was close. I better not try that again.\u201d But in Africa, Lamb writes, \u201cif an oncoming car has to swerve off the road to avoid his vehicle, and there are no collisions or injuries, the African does not say, \u2018Next time I\u2019d better not do that.\u2019\u201d<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

I\u2019ve heard similar stories about drivers throughout the developing world, particularly in Latin America, where traffic accidents and fatalities are much higher than in more advanced nations — even though the rate of car ownership is much lower.<\/span><\/p>\n

I don\u2019t bring all of this up to write a \u201cnews\u201dletter on the perils of polylogism, but to offer some insight into the Clintonian mind.\u00a0<\/span>Bill and Hillary Clinton are like that Third World driver who takes a hairpin curve at high speed and survives<\/em><\/span>. Everything worked out, so why change your behavior<\/span><\/em>?<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\"Perfect<\/a><\/p>\n

Now, Bill is a famous case. In many respects he\u2019s lived a Caligulan lifestyle. No, he\u2019s never tried to make his horse a senator, nor did he order the army to declare war on Neptune, but for him the highest law is whatever he can get away with<\/em><\/span>.<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Bill\u2019s entire life<\/em><\/span> has been about cutting corners, shaving the truth — often down to the bone — and conflating his priapism with his sense of entitlement.<\/span> This has worked out for him because he has superhuman powers of duplicity and cozenage.<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0(Not to mention the unwavering support of a sycophantic press.)<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0There are legends in Little Rock of how a young Billy Clinton was on a school field trip to a laboratory when, through an unlikely series of events, a radioactive hustler bit him on the hand, giving him unearthly powers of flim-flammery and deception. The earnest lad was suddenly transformed.<\/span><\/p>\n

I have no doubt Bill believes that he uses his powers for good, but with the pimpish midichlorians<\/span> coursing through his veins, he can\u2019t help himself. Over time, as he continually escapes the snares reality and morality typically set for mortal men, he has come to have a sense of entitlement and immunity about it all. Like the hazardous driver who\u2019s never had a crash or the lucky investor who\u2019s never lost money<\/strong><\/em><\/span>…<\/span><\/p>\n

…he just thinks, \u201cThis is the way reality works.\u201d Even when a black swan hits him in the grill, he talks his way out of it.<\/span><\/p>\n

The tragedy for Hillary Clinton is that she is all too human.<\/strong><\/span> As Bill\u2019s mortal sidekick, she\u2019s had a good ride. But whereas Bill has an almost Jedi-like ability to lie convincingly — \u201cthese aren\u2019t the interns you\u2019re looking for\u201d — Hillary has no superpowers to fall back on.<\/strong><\/span> She just has to grind it out. Like Syndrome in The Incredibles<\/i> or the entire cast of Kick-Ass<\/i>, she has to compensate for a lack of raw superpowers through guile and technology — and minions, lots and lots of minions<\/span><\/em>.<\/span> They do her dirty work for her<\/em><\/span>.<\/strong><\/span> They burrow into the bureaucracy and cover for her. They get appointed to commissions and erect firewalls against accountability. They tell her what she wants to hear and explain how all bad news is someone else\u2019s fault. They scrub the paper trail. They even shove classified evidence in their pants, if that is what is required.<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"BergerDocShake\"<\/a><\/p>\n

As Renfield to her huband\u2019s Dracula, Otis to his Lex Luthor, Gogo Yubari<\/span> to his O-Ren Ishii , Alistair Smythe to his Kingpin, Tom Hagen to his Don Corleone, Bizarro World Radar O\u2019Reilly to his evil Colonel Potter, she has amassed considerable resources and abilities of her own. There\u2019s now an entire Clinton-Industrial Complex<\/span> that fuels and funds the vast interconnected network of minions. They are like agents of Hydra<\/span>, embedded in the media, in government, and in academia.<\/span> Places like Media Matters are like huge industrial farms for breeding Clintonian hacks where the larvae are grown in vats.<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Convinced they are the rightful heirs of some new American aristocracy, they are willing to make astounding personal sacrifices for the cause. It would not have shocked me if Sandy Berger had yelled \u201cHail Clinton!\u201d even as the National Archives guards were pulling paperwork out of his fly<\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

But the problem remains; Hillary is not the charismatic leader her husband is, or was. She\u2019s good at cleaning up the loose ends of her husband\u2019s lies, but she\u2019s not the person you want out front laying down the lies in the first place. His superpowers did not rub off on her, and to assume they did is to confuse the elephant for the guy sweeping up behind it<\/span><\/em>.<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The thing is, Hillary\u2019s been riding shotgun on all those hairpin turns with Bill behind the wheel for so long she thinks she can do what he does.<\/strong><\/span> She can\u2019t<\/em><\/span>.<\/strong><\/span> It\u2019s understandable, of course. The great ones always make it look easy.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

But certainly the abortion aspect of it should not be funded by government, absolutely.\u201d<\/span> Of course it\u2019s not truly possible to wall off Planned Parenthood\u2019s abortion work from the rest of the organization. (Which anyone with even minimal business sense would understand, including<\/em><\/span> The Donald.)<\/span>\u00a0Half a billion dollars of taxpayer money helps keep the nation\u2019s largest abortion provider alive.<\/span> Funding Planned Parenthood funds abortions<\/em><\/span>.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

…Yes, I know the objections: \u201cBut what about the border?\u201d \u201cWhat about ISIS?\u201d \u201cWhat about China?\u201d \u201cThere is more than one relevant issue in the race!\u201d Yes, there are certainly many issues, but an unwillingness to defund Planned Parenthood \u2014 especially in the aftermath of videos that show its true, blood-red colors \u2014 tells me all I need to know about the candidate\u2019s moral courage and moral reasoning<\/em><\/span><\/strong><\/span>…”<\/p>\n

Or utter lack thereof. \u00a0Yet another reason to dismiss this faux-Conservative’s “campaign” for the self-promoting publicity stunt it is.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Whether Michael Sam is nuts or not, his problems are exclusively of his own creation. \u00a0Sam used his homosexuality as a promotional stunt to make up for a lack of the speed and quickness critical to success at the professional level. \u00a0Had he kept his sexual deviance to himself, or declined to permit himself to become the latest homosexual c<\/strong>ause c\u00e9l\u00e8bre<\/strong>, he would have been just another good college football player who didn’t have what it took to make it in the NFL.<\/strong><\/p>\n
