<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">you<\/span> how to raise your kids <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">but I don\u2019t have any<\/span>. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">I am <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">very<\/span> spiritual, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">but don\u2019t go to any church or identify as Christian<\/span>.<\/span><\/em> <em>Even though <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">I knew<\/span> about Weinstein and the casting couch, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">I was silent<\/span>, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">but<\/span> I <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">support<\/span> the Me too movement<\/em>. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>I am racist <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">to the core<\/span>, but <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">blacks<\/span> can\u2019t really <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">be<\/span> racist, so <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">that<\/span> doesn\u2019t count<\/em>.<\/span> I\u2019m black <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>and<\/em><\/span> female, so I check <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>all<\/em><\/span> the boxes. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>I praised Denmark <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">for their Socialism<\/span>, though I am a billionaire <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">due to Capitalism<\/span>, the economic system that allowed a dirt poor child from Mississippi to rise to world renowned fame and wealth<\/em>.<\/span> The first time I openly endorsed a presidential candidate it was a black one, Obama. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Before a black candidate, I was not political.<\/span> <em>Vote for <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">me<\/span>, and I will give you transformational change, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">the kind you got from Obama<\/span><\/em>.<\/strong><\/span>&#8220;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Yeah,&#8230;<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>that<\/em><\/span> oughta work!\u00a0 So here&#8217;s to Oprah in random thoughts on Trump&#8217;s SOTU address.\u00a0 First, just as you can tell a lot about a man by the friends he keeps, so too America can learn all it needs to know about Progressives by the things they won&#8217;t applaud:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/qd_a6ilbNLQ\" width=\"420\" height=\"235\" underline;\"><em>America-loving patriots<\/em><\/span>\u00a0<em>always<\/em>\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>stand<\/em><\/span> for the National Anthem:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p It\u2019s a truth that applies not just to politics, but to life, so take heed: Unless you\u2019re Nostradamus and can trick a bunch of people by waving around a dramatic-looking beard and some mystical-sounding quatrains, don\u2019t go around making broad and overly confident predictions. They might end up making you look\u00a0daffy.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>History is full of terrible predictions uttered by smart and prominent people \u2014 \u201cStock prices have reached what looks like a permanently high plateau,\u201d from an economist in October 1929, is one particularly amazing specimen \u2014 so perhaps we shouldn\u2019t be too harsh.<\/strong><\/span> The urge to predict is clearly hard to resist. <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>But there\u2019s a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>second<\/em><\/span> and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>simpler<\/em><\/span> reason to tread carefully around blue-wave predictions for this fall, <em>and it is <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">this<\/span><\/em>: <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Strangely<\/span>, the Democratic party\u2019s strategy for 2018 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">seems to revolve around reminding people how happy they are that Democrats aren\u2019t in charge<\/span><\/em>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/Chuck-Schumer-Mexico-First-America-Last.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-56639\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/Chuck-Schumer-Mexico-First-America-Last.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"256\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/Chuck-Schumer-Mexico-First-America-Last.jpg 400w, https:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/Chuck-Schumer-Mexico-First-America-Last-300x192.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong><em>Mexico&#8230;El Salvador&#8230;what&#8217;s the difference?!? After all, according to Joy Reid, MS-13 doesn&#8217;t exist!<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Witness prominent left-leaning responses to Trump\u2019s State of the Union address, which earned an impressive 75 percent approval rating in a CBS News poll. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>Eight out of ten<\/em><\/span> of the viewers in the poll \u201c<em>felt that the president was trying to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">unite<\/span> the country, rather than <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">divide<\/span> it<\/em>,\u201d and \u201c<em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">two-thirds<\/span> said the speech <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">made them feel proud<\/span><\/em>.\u201d<\/strong><\/span> Sure, we can argue about the policy implications of the address, but that\u2019s been true for almost every State of the Union in the history of the nation. (\u201cFree\u201d community college! The magical \u201ccreation\u201d of hundreds of thousands of jobs! An army of hydrogen cars!) In short, it was a well-written, well-delivered speech.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Perhaps that sounds boring to you, so it\u2019s high time for some hyperventilation.<\/span> Over to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>you<\/em><\/span>, Democrats!<\/strong> <\/span>CNN\u2019s Sally Kohn called the speech \u201cscary\u201d and \u201cterrifying.\u201d Elizabeth Warren tweeted that she attended only because she wanted its horrors \u201cburned into my eyes.\u201d <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">But it was perhaps MSNBC\u2019s Joy Reid who took the cake, tweeting out a bizarre and amazing word salad trashing various American institutions: \u201cChurch&#8230;family&#8230;police&#8230;military&#8230;the national anthem&#8230;Trump trying to call on all the tropes of 1950s-era nationalism.<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"> The goal of this speech appears to be to force the normalization of Trump on the terms of the bygone era his supporters are nostalgic for.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/strong> <span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>(She left out mom and apple pie!)<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong><em>Ah, I can <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">see<\/span> the campaign posters <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">now<\/span><\/em>: \u201c<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>Can\u2019t stand church and family<\/em><\/span>? <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>Neither can <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">we<\/span><\/em>!<\/span> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>Vote for the Democrats in 2018<\/em><\/span>!\u201d <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">It\u2019s <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">mind-boggling<\/span>, isn\u2019t it?<\/span> I mean, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>come on, people<\/em><\/span>. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>Pretending<\/em><\/span> to be a normal human being <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>can\u2019t really be that hard<\/em><\/span>.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/lb180201c20180131100953.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-56615\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/lb180201c20180131100953.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"261\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/lb180201c20180131100953.jpg 400w, https:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/lb180201c20180131100953-300x196.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Or maybe <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>it can<\/em><\/span>.<\/span> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>Look<\/em><\/span>, if you will, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>at the Democratic party\u2019s leading lights<\/em><\/span>.<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0<span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>(Dim bulbs though they be!)<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>There\u2019s Nancy Pelosi<\/strong><\/span>, America\u2019s favorite rich lady from San Francisco, who has somehow decided to combat the increasingly popular GOP tax cut by going around telling Americans that the extra $1,000 in their pocket equates to \u201ccrumbs.\u201d <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>There\u2019s Bernie Sanders<\/strong><\/span>, who might start yelling at you about socialism at any moment. <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>There\u2019s Planned Parenthood\u2019s Cecile Richards<\/strong><\/span>, whose retirement sparked excited speculation about a future run for office, perhaps even in Texas! (This is kind of hilarious, given what happened the last time the Democrats ran an abortion zealot for governor in Texas, but again, it\u2019s almost as if they\u2019re trying to lose.) <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>There\u2019s the astoundingly cynical Kirsten Gillibrand<\/strong><\/span>, a former tobacco lawyer and gun-rights defender magically transformed into a passionate #MeToo sexual-harassment crusader \u2014 complete with a recent (and convenient) spurt of indignation directed at Bill Clinton, whom she was perfectly happy to pal around with when he was helping her campaign.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Then there\u2019s Hillary Clinton, <em>who\u00a0<\/em><span style=\"color: #008000;\">(like a bad case of The Clap)<\/span><em> simply <\/em><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">will not go away<\/span><\/em>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Many Democrats will tell you that none of this really matters; all that matters, they insist, is that they are not Donald Trump.<\/span> (As a reminder, Donald Trump won the presidency largely because he was not Hillary Clinton.)<\/strong><\/span> \u201cThere is absolutely nothing the Democrats could do that would be dumber than setting aside their criticisms of President Trump to focus solely on some \u2018affirmative\u2019 agenda,\u201d wrote Paul Waldman in Wednesday\u2019s Washington Post. Anger against President Trump, he argues, is all the Democrats need. Whatever Inslee\u2019s spending preferences for the revenues, interest-group competition within the legislature guarantees that good intentions would yield quickly to ordinary pork-barrel politics. <span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #003300;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>With no prospect of environmental improvement and little of real beneficial spending<\/em><\/span>, what <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>is<\/em><\/span> the rationale for a tax on \u201ccarbon?\u201d<\/span> Why not on <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">zucchini<\/span><\/em>?<\/strong><\/span>&#8220;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Think about it: 17\/100 of a degree in temperature reduction&#8230;<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>at best<\/em><\/span>&#8230;in exchange for untold trillions of dollars in lost productivity.\u00a0 And all to promote sources of &#8220;clean energy&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/townhall.com\/tipsheet\/conncarroll\/2014\/04\/04\/clean-energy-isnt-clean-n1818239\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">which are they were beaten, assaulted with a stun gun and forced to eat dog feces while locked away by two women, police said Wednesday. <strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Amanda R.
