width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">And though, while<\/span><em>\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/the-morning-jolt\/jeff-flake-is-a-sucker\/\">writing at his Morning Jolt<\/a><\/span><\/em><\/span>, Jim Geraghty still seeks to give Flake the benefit of the doubt as to his intentions&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8220;<span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #800080;\">I suspect Flake thought he was doing the right thing by giving Kavanaugh a way to dispel the accusations against him, and also by taking away the biggest argument from the Democrats, that \u201cwe need an FBI investigation.\u201d<\/span> <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">But he assumed what few other Republicans did: that <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>these objections from Democrats were made in good faith<\/em><\/span>.<\/span><\/strong><\/span>&#8220;<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8230;he then goes on to draw the correct conclusion:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8220;<span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>Jeff Flake is a sucker<\/em><\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<span style=\"color: #008000;\">(<em>And <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">probably<\/span>, though only time will tell, a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">turncoat<\/span>.<\/em>)<\/span> <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">People acting in good faith don\u2019t leak the name of a woman making sexual-assault accusations when she has asked to remain anonymous. <span style=\"color: #800080;\">People acting in good faith don\u2019t withhold information about accusations as serious as this from their colleagues for two months.<\/span> People acting in good faith don\u2019t unveil the accusation after the confirmation hearings. <span style=\"color: #800080;\">People acting in good faith don\u2019t tout the investigative abilities of the FBI for months and then turn around and express doubt that they\u2019ll get the answers once they get that investigation.<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">&#8230;<\/span><em><strong>Senator Dianne Feinstein has done <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">the opposite<\/span>, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">calling for the FBI to investigate those farfetched claims<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/span>&#8230;<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8230;<span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>We will see what happens in a few days, when the FBI brings back its report.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">There\u2019s always the remote possibility that the FBI report comes back with some compelling new evidence of Kavanaugh breaking the law.<\/span> <span style=\"color: #800080;\">But if it doesn\u2019t, we already know what Democrats will say;<\/span><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #0000ff;\"><em><strong><a style=\"color: #0000ff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/corner\/jeff-flake-fbi-investigation-brett-kavanaugh-confirmation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">most of us could guess it on Friday<\/a><\/strong><\/em><\/span><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #800080;\">.<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>The Democrats will always move the goalposts<\/em><\/span>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/Image-10-2-18-at-8.16-AM.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-63432\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/Image-10-2-18-at-8.16-AM.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"462\" height=\"302\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/Image-10-2-18-at-8.16-AM.jpeg 462w, https:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/Image-10-2-18-at-8.16-AM-300x196.jpeg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 462px) 100vw, 462px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">They will <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>always<\/em><\/span> point to new vague allegations, new \u201ctroubling rumors,\u201d more long-forgotten acquaintances who just happened to remember some stunning new scandalous behavior and who are just coming forward now.<\/span> Apparently, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>none<\/em><em> of these terrible acts<\/em><\/span> by Kavanaugh were serious enough to report to authorities at the time, somehow <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">all of them<\/span><\/em> managed to escape the attention of the six FBI background investigations over the years, and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>none of them<\/em><\/span> were worth bringing up when he was nominated to be a federal judge in 2006.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Flake gave Democrats the FBI investigation they demanded; <span style=\"color: #800080;\"><em>in exchange, they will give him <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">nothing<\/span><\/em><\/span> <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/news\/chuck-grassley-smacks-down-latest-brett-kavanaugh-allegation\/?utm_source=Sailthru&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=NR%20Daily%20Monday%20through%20Friday%202018-10-02&amp;utm_term=NR5PM%20Actives\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>but another week of implausible accusations of horrific crimes by Kavanaugh<\/em><\/span><\/a><\/span><span style=\"color: #800080;\">, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>and more accusations that he himself as a senator is insufficiently opposed to sexual assault<\/em><\/span>.<\/span><\/strong><\/span>&#8220;<\/p>\n<p><strong>In other words, assuming Flake <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>isn&#8217;t<\/em><\/span> playing for the other side, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>he cut the worst deal since Chamberlain&#8217;s capitulation to Hitler in Munich<\/em><\/span>.\u00a0 Note we didn&#8217;t mention The Obamao&#8217;s Iran deal&#8230;since we&#8217;ve no doubt whatsoever Barry <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>WAS<\/em><\/span> playing for the other side!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Now, here&#8217;s <em>The Gouge<\/em>!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>First up, Jim Geraghty wonders&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<h1 style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Why Are Recent Events Difficult to Recall As Well?<\/strong><\/span><\/h1>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/2j5dsm.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-63415\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/2j5dsm.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/2j5dsm.jpg 400w, https:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/2j5dsm-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Sexual-assault investigator Rachel Mitchell\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #0000ff;\"><em><strong><a style=\"color: #0000ff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"http:\/\/apps.washingtonpost.com\/g\/documents\/politics\/rachel-mitchells-analysis\/3221\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" class=\"broken_link\">provided an analysis<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/span>of Christine Blasey Ford\u2019s testimony. <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Among her observations and conclusions:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Ford said the alleged assault occurred in \u201cthe mid-1980s\u201d in a July 6 text to the\u00a0<em>Washington Post<\/em>; by September, she told the paper that it occurred in summer of 1982.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Ford refused to provide any notes from her therapist to the committee.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>The notes of the therapist described in the\u00a0<em>Post<\/em>\u00a0article say that four boys were in the room when she was assaulted; Ford says the therapist made an error. In her letter to Feinstein, Ford said \u201cme and four others\u201d were at the party. Testifying before the committee, she said the party had herself, Leland Keyser, and four boys, but she can only remember three of their names.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>In the statement to the polygrapher, Ford described P.J. Smith as a \u201cbystander.\u201d In her statement to the polygrapher, she did not list Leland Keyser. While testifying to the committee, she said P.J. Smith was not in the room and did not witness the attack, and that it was inaccurate to describe him as a bystander.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Perhaps most oddly, Ford said she could not recall if she showed the\u00a0<em>Washington Post<\/em>\u00a0reporter the full or partial set of therapy notes. Ford said she could not recall if she summarized the therapist\u2019s notes for the reporter or whether she showed the notes to the reporter. These are events that occurred about three months ago, not years ago.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>She claimed she reached out to the\u00a0<em>Post\u00a0<\/em>because she \u201cdid not know how\u201d to contact her senator.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>She could not remember the date of the polygraph or whether she was video or audio recorded.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>In other words, the <em>Titanic<\/em>&#8216;s starboard bow had fewer holes in it than Ford&#8217;s story.\u00a0 And, the innumerable claims to her believability from both sides of the aisle notwithstanding, anyone viewing her testimony <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>dispassionately<\/em><\/span>&#8230;i.e., <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>absent a political agenda<\/em><\/span>&#8230;AND\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>without concern over future employment opportunities<\/em><\/span>, could <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>only conclude<\/em><\/span> she&#8217;s either crazy or lying&#8230;or perhaps <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>both<\/em><\/span>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>As <span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #0000ff;\"><em>Joel Goodman notes at Townhall.com<\/em><\/span>:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8220;When\u00a0Christine Blasey Ford opened her mouth at the Senate confirmation hearing, my mouth dropped. The voice that I heard was not anything like what I expected. <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>Dr. Ford sounded like a child<\/em><\/span>. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Her whispered voice was several degrees less of a mature woman\u2019s voice than the voice Marilyn Monroe used in her created screen persona generations ago.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Ford came off as an innocent pubescent child \u2013 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>like a 15-year-old teenager<\/em><\/span>.<\/span> \u00a0<em>Like the one that was <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">allegedly<\/span> sexually assaulted<\/em>. <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>She couldn\u2019t bring us facts<\/em><\/span>. <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>Instead<\/em>, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>she brought us herself as the put upon child of 36 years ago<\/em><\/span>.<\/span> Ford\u2019s <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>act<\/em><\/span> was <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>exactly that<\/em><\/span> \u2013 <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">an act<\/span><\/em>. \u00a0<em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">The <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">proper<\/span> word is <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">disingenuous<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/span><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/disingenuous.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-63428\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/disingenuous.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"205\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/disingenuous.png 400w, https:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/disingenuous-300x154.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8230;<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Her story had <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>no<\/em><em> forensic evidence<\/em><\/span>, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>no corroborating witnesses<\/em><\/span>. <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">The timing of the allegations themselves was <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>m<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>ore than suspect<\/em><\/span>.<\/span> Ford is no fool. <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">She\u2019s no one\u2019s puppet.<\/span> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>She\u2019s an operative working for someone<\/em><\/span><\/strong><\/span>&#8230;&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Beyond any shadow of the remotest doubt.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Next up, courtesy of <em>American Greatness<\/em>, Victor Davis Hanson pens an&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<h1 class=\"entry-title fusion-post-title\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\" data-fontsize=\"30\" data-lineheight=\"42\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/amgreatness.com\/2018\/09\/30\/epitaph-for-a-dying-culture\/\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000; text-decoration: underline;\">Epitaph for a Dying Culture<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/span><\/h1>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/tmg-facebook_social-1024x576.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-63413\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/tmg-facebook_social-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/tmg-facebook_social-1024x576.jpg 400w, https:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/tmg-facebook_social-1024x576-300x169.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span class=\"wpsdcp-drop-cap-default\">&#8220;<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>T<\/strong><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>he Kavanaugh confirmation hearings and their endless sequelae have ended up as an epitaph for a spent culture for which its remedies are felt to be worse than its diseases. <span style=\"color: #333399;\">Think 338 B.C., A.D. 476, 1453, or 1939.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>The <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>coordinated effort<\/em><\/span> to destroy Brett Kavanaugh\u2019s nomination to the U.S. Supreme Court <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>required the systematic refutation of the entire notion of Western jurisprudence by senators and much of the American legal establishment<\/em><\/span>. <span style=\"color: #333399;\">And there was <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>no hesitation in doing just that<\/em><\/span> on the part of Senate Democrats, the #MeToo movement, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>and<\/em><\/span> the press.<\/span> And I write this at a moment in which conservatives and Republicans still control the majority of governorships, state legislatures, the U.S. Senate, the House of Representatives, the Supreme Court and the presidency\u2014<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>a reminder that culture so often is far more powerful than politics<\/em><\/span>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong>So, here we were to be left with a new legal and cultural standard in adjudicating future disagreements and disputes, an utterly anti-Western standard quite befitting for our new relativist age:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/death.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-63427\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/death.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"259\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/death.png 400w, https:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/death-300x194.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>The veracity of accusations will hinge on the particular identity, emotions, and ideology of the accuser;<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong>Evidence, or lack of it, will be tangential, given the supposed unimpeachable motives of the ideologically correct accuser;<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>The burden of proof and evidence will rest with the accused to disprove the preordained assumption of guilt;<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong>Hearsay will be a valuable narrative and constitute legitimate evidence;<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Truth is not universal, but individualized. Ford\u2019s \u201ctruth\u201d is as valid as the \u201cTruth,\u201d given that competing narratives are adjudicated only by access to power. Ford is a victim, therefore her truth trumps \u201ctheir\u201d truth based on evidence and testimony.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong>Questionable and inconsistent testimony are proof of trauma and therefore exactitude; recalling an accusation to someone is proof that the action in the accusation took place.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Statutes of limitations do not exist; any allegation of decades prior is as valid as any in the present. All of us are subject at any moment to unsubstantiated accusations from decades past that will destroy lives.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong>Assertion of an alleged crime is unimpeachable proof. Recall of where, when, why, and how it took place is irrelevant.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Individual accusations will always be subservient to cosmic causes; individuals are irrelevant if they do not serve ideological aims. question, had she expressed similar sentiments about Barack Hussein Obama and\/or Chuck Schumer, Dr. Fair would be seeking alternate employment?!?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span
