them as \u201cracist tweets\u201d as if that were a fact rather than a trope.\u00a0<span style=\"color: #008000;\">(<em>As detailed in today&#8217;s installment of Tales From the Darkside, accessible through link #2 at the top of the page immediately beneath our Quote of the Day<\/em>.)<\/span><\/span>\u00a0I don\u2019t think they were <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>racist<\/em><\/span>; I think they were <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>abjectly stupid<\/em><\/span>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong>Like many Americans, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>I am tired of being lectured about racism by racists and racialists, individuals whose full-field explanation for all life\u2019s issues is this matter of genetic happenstance that should be increasingly irrelevant in a pluralistic society<\/em><\/span>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Is it \u201cracist\u201d to tell people who have <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>contempt<\/em><\/span> for the country \u2014 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>who abhor the common culture that makes us American<\/em><\/span> \u2014 that <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>they ought to go back to where they came from<\/em><\/span>? <span style=\"color: #333399;\">It has <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>nativist and reactionary overtones<\/em><\/span>, but I <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>don\u2019t think<\/em><\/span> it is <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>racist<\/em><\/span>.<\/span> I\u2019ll grant <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>this much<\/em><\/span>, though: It is closer to actual racism than the Left\u2019s <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>usual<\/em><\/span> demagogic claim: <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>I am a racist if I extend to a non-white nincompoop like Ilhan Omar the courtesy of taking her seriously as an individual and a public official, as if it were her race rather than the idiocy of what she says that moves me to dissent<\/em><\/span>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong>It <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>would<\/em><\/span> be racist to tell the progressive \u201cSquad\u201d that <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>t<\/em><em>hey don\u2019t belong in our country because of their race or ethnic roots<\/em><\/span>. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>I don\u2019t understand Trump to have done that<\/em><\/span>.<\/span> He is attacking their <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>radicalism<\/em><\/span>, which <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>they wear like a badge of honor<\/em><\/span>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>I <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>don\u2019t believe<\/em><\/span> Trump is a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>master strategist<\/em><\/span> who did this <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>to force Speaker Pelosi and other mainstream Democrats, at their electoral peril, to embrace the radicals<\/em><\/span>. <span style=\"color: #333399;\">That\u2019s just the lemonade that Trump supporters are trying to make of the president\u2019s never-ending supply of lemons.<\/span> In any event, <em>while it is beneath a president to carp in Trump\u2019s juvenile way, I have less heartburn in principle with a president\u2019s attacking radicalism <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">than I do with a congresswoman\u2019s claim that any criticism of her is an implicit criticism of immigrants, women, black people, etc<\/span><\/em>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong>The <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>real problems<\/em><\/span> here, in <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>2020 terms<\/em><\/span>, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>are the stupidity and insensitivity of the president\u2019s Twitter twaddle<\/em><\/span><\/strong><\/span>&#8230;&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Here&#8217;s the juice: Trump <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>is<\/em><\/span>, has <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>always been<\/em><\/span>, and will <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>always<\/em><\/span><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"> be<\/span>, <\/em>his own worst enemy.\u00a0 The only real question is whether <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>he<\/em><\/span> or <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>the Dimocrats<\/em><\/span> will alienate more voters between now and November unidentified 25-year-old woman was traveling with her three children Thursday <em>when she stopped outside a pizza shop on 29th and Dauphin St. at about\u00a09 p.m. <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">to visit her boyfriend<\/span><\/em>, who worked at the pizzeria<\/strong><\/span>, according to\u00a0WCAU.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #008080;\">When she went inside, <em>the woman reportedly <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">left her car running with her three children<\/span><\/em> &#8212; a 7-month-old, a 1-year-old\u00a0and a 5-year-old &#8212;\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>inside<\/em><\/span>.<\/span> That\u2019s when police say a 54-year-old man entered the car and took off.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Investigators say the boyfriend, who is the father of two of the children, chased the suspect on foot and was able to catch up to the car when\u00a0it got stuck in traffic. <span style=\"color: #008080;\"><strong>The boyfriend, also 25, pulled the suspect from the car and a short foot chase ensued, Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small told\u00a0WPVI.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">\u201cHe fled on foot about a half a block.\u00a0And the boyfriend caught up to him and there was some sort of physical struggle that ensued,&#8221; Small said.\u00a0<span style=\"color: #008080;\">&#8220;Then other males from the neighborhood intervened and began punching and kicking the male who took the vehicle.&#8221;<\/span> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>About an hour after the carjacking occurred, emergency services<\/em>\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>arrived<\/em><em> on the scene<\/em><\/span>\u00a0<span style=\"color: #008000;\">(<em>Again, when seconds count, police are only minutes away!<\/em>)<\/span> and found the carjacker unconscious, WCAU\u00a0 reported. <span style=\"color: #008080;\">He was taken to Temple University Hospital and pronounced dead.<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #008080;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">The mother and father were taken in for questioning and\u00a0police say they&#8217;re cooperating.<\/span> Authorities have not said if charges will be filed, a\u00a0decision the District Attorney\u2019s Office will make.<\/strong><\/span>&#8220;<\/p>\n<p><strong>It&#8217;s a decision the Philly D.A.&#8217;s office <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>still<\/em><\/span> hasn&#8217;t made, the boyfriend&#8217;s <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>undeniable involvement<\/em><\/span> in the crime\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>notwithstanding<\/em><\/span>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Horse theft was a hanging offense in the old west, primarily because stranding a man in the wilderness without a means of transport oftentimes constituted a death sentence.\u00a0 And though being left in certain parts of America&#8217;s urban ghettos sans transport would be cause for consternation, it certainly doesn&#8217;t rise to the level of lynching the would-be thief.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>One thing&#8217;s for certain: if an urban mob in Philadelphia is allowed to get away with murder, it will be just another instance of Dimocrats failing to hold &#8220;people of color&#8221; to the same standards of civilized behavior to which others are subject.\u00a0
