Black trans<\/span> woman<\/span> killed<\/span> in S. Carolina<\/span> is the<\/span> 12th in 2019<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/h1>\n

The 12th known transgender person to violently die this year was found fatally shot in South Carolina<\/em><\/span><\/strong>.<\/span> News outlets report 29-year-old Denali Berries Stuckey was found dead Saturday on the shoulder of a North Charleston road. Deputy Chief Scott Deckard said Monday the investigation is ongoing.<\/p>\n

The Human Rights Campaign says all the victims in 2019 have been black transgender women<\/em><\/span>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Chase Glenn, the executive director of the Alliance For Full Acceptance in North Charleston, says<\/span> Stuckey is the third known black trans woman murdered in South Carolina since 2018<\/em>.<\/span> The state is one of five without hate crime laws<\/em><\/span>.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Brooklyn Lindsey was the 11th trans person to die this year.<\/span> The 32-year-old was found fatally shot last month on her porch in Kansas City, Missouri.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Wait, are the victims transgendered “women” or transgendered “persons”?!?\u00a0 We must confess our confusion.<\/strong><\/p>\n

We must also observe the “reporter” is offering facts not in evidence, namely any connection whatsoever<\/em><\/span> between South Carolina lacking<\/em><\/span> any hate crime laws and (a) any reduction<\/em><\/span> in hate crimes in states which have passed<\/em><\/span> hate crime laws, and (b) that the deaths of any<\/em><\/span> of the 12 “known transgendered persons” were<\/em>\u00a0as a result<\/em><\/span> of hate crimes.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Here’s the juice: truth be told, Brooklyn Lindsey…<\/strong><\/p>\n

…”the 11th trans person to die this year”, was, at least according to her accused killer<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/a>…<\/strong><\/p>\n

…the victim of a proposition-turned-bad:<\/strong><\/p>\n

“Marcus Lewis, 41, is charged with second-degree murder, armed criminal action and unlawful possession of a firearm in the death of 32-year-old Brooklyn Lindsey<\/span>…Court documents say Lindsey was shot multiple times and that DNA testing on shell casings led to Lewis.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

When confronted with the DNA evidence, Lewis allegedly told detectives that on the morning of the murder, he saw Lindsey walking on Independence Avenue.<\/span> Lewis told investigators Lindsey allegedly approached him and tried to solicit a date<\/em><\/span>.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

When he tried to walk away, Lewis said Lindsey followed him, and they were involved in a fight. Court records say he told police he shot her before leaving the scene.<\/span><\/strong><\/span>“<\/p>\n

Besides, if the article at foxkc4.com<\/em> is to be believed, Marcus Lewis didn’t require any specific hatred to commit a crime:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

“Lewis was arrested on a stop order for a separate investigation into charges of aggravated domestic violence and the armed robbery of a business<\/em><\/span>. He\u2019s charged with robbery and armed criminal action for an incident that occurred on March 23<\/em><\/span>.<\/span> He also<\/em><\/span> faces weapons charges<\/span><\/em> for an incident that happened on May 19<\/em><\/span>.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Lewis is also<\/em><\/span> facing charges in two separate cases<\/em><\/span>, including a robbery and armed criminal action case and weapons charges<\/em><\/span>.<\/strong><\/span>“<\/p>\n
