href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/media\/april-ryan-cnn-first-amendment-journalist-assault\" class=\"broken_link\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">to explain away her bodyguard&#8217;s assault on a credentialed reporter at a New Jersey speaking engagement<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/a>:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/V1vnTuVxwV4\" width=\"420\" height=\"235\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\u00a0&#8220;<strong><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">This is not about suppressing the press<\/span><\/em>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong><strong><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">And, no, I did not order anyone to do anything<\/span><\/em>&#8230;They were about 100 feet away from me.<\/span> <span style=\"color: #800080;\">I didn\u2019t know what was going on or what was said.<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"color: #800080;\">&#8220;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\u00a0<strong><span style=\"color: #333399;\">&#8220;This was a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>private event<\/em><\/span> for a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>non-profit organization<\/em><\/span> in New Brunswick, New Jersey. <\/span><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><em>Our contract stated that if someone <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">wanted<\/span> to come and film<\/em>&#8230;<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>they had to ask for permission<\/em><\/span>,&#8221; she said.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong>&#8220;<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>There was no request for permission and permission was not granted<\/em><\/span>. <span style=\"color: #800080;\">Now, if they <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>would<\/em><\/span> have asked for permission, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>it would have been granted<\/em><\/span>\u00a0<span style=\"color: #008000;\">(Sooo&#8230;if <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>any<\/em><\/span> request for permission to film <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>would have been granted<\/em><\/span>, why <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>require<\/em><\/span>\u00a0requests for permission <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>at all<\/em><\/span>?!?)\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0and the reason why I do this&#8230;<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>it\u2019s standard in the industry<\/em><\/span>&#8230;[and] <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>because I don\u2019t want my words twisted<\/em><\/span>.&#8221;<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #333399;\">Stelter<\/span> <span style=\"color: #008000;\">(I<em>n a rare display of possessing even the most rudimentary sense of journalism!<\/em>)<\/span> <span style=\"color: #333399;\">followed up on <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>Kratovli&#8217;s claim<\/em><\/span> that <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>he had proper permission<\/em><\/span>, but Ryan remained adamant and firm. <\/span><span style=\"color: #800080;\">&#8220;<em>According to my contract and with the organization, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">no one asked me for permission<\/span><\/em>,&#8221; she replied. <span style=\"color: #008000;\">(<em>So now, her contract included requests for permission; like when&#8230;before or after it was signed?!?<\/em>)<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8230;<span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong>When asked if she regretted the actions of\u00a0her former bodyguard, Ryan dodged the question and said Morris was simply &#8220;concerned&#8221; for &#8220;her safety.&#8221;\u00a0<span style=\"color: #800080;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">She also claimed the death threats she&#8217;s received may have affected her former bodyguard&#8217;s response<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/strong><\/span>&#8230;&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ryan&#8217;s responses are vague and frankly quite conflicting: after all, how can one assert demanding journalists obtain permission to film a speech isn&#8217;t about suppressing the press?!?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>As for Ryan&#8217;s claim death threats she&#8217;s (purportedly) received may have affected her bodyguard&#8217;s response, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>were<\/em><\/span> such supposed threats <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>serious<\/em><\/span>, who on earth would volunteer to take a bullet or a bomb for the <em>likes<\/em>&#8230;or <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>girth<\/em><\/span>&#8230;of April Ryan for <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">any<\/span><\/em> amount of money?!?\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Now, here&#8217;s <em>The Gouge<\/em>!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>We lead off today&#8217;s edition with, in honor of the great Thomas Sowell, several <em>Random Thoughts on the Passing Scene<\/em>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>Thought #1<\/em><\/span>: We just ain&#8217;t buyin&#8217; the conclusion Jeffrey Epstein died by his own hand&#8230;unless a representative of the Clintons&#8217; hands on top of his somehow constitutes suicide.\u00a0 Forgetting for the moment the incredibly questionable circumstances surrounding Epstein&#8217;s demise (both guards asleep, his mandatory cellmate transferred, his rapid release from suicide watch, the absence of a surveillance camera <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>in<\/em><\/span> his cell&#8230;and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>now<\/em><\/span>, <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/news\/458922-video-from-camera-outside-epstein-jail-cell-unusable-report\" class=\"broken_link\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">the video from the surveillance camera outside<\/span> his cell is reportedly unusable<\/em><\/span><\/a>), <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>h<\/em><\/span><\/strong><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>ere&#8217;s the juice<\/em><\/span>: <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The sister of a neighborhood acquaintance committed suicide some years back by hanging herself in a fashion similar to how <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>we&#8217;re told<\/em><\/span> Epstein took his own life: she wrapped some item of cloth around her neck and, on her knees, thrust herself from the clothes rod in her closet.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>big difference<\/em><\/span> being, in addition to bouts of depression, she had a substance abuse problem&#8230;and was drunk as a lemur and passed out prior to dying.\u00a0 Hence she was unable to pull herself off her knees before she choked to death, which would be the instinctive self-preservation response of a <em>normal<\/em>, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>non-inebriated<\/em><\/span> human being.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>As our youngest son Travis noted earlier this evening, though requiring little more pressure than biting through a carrot, humans of sound mind <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>not<\/em><\/span> in a do-or-die survival situation are <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>physically incapable<\/em><\/span> of <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">using their teeth to severe their own finger<\/span><\/em>, anymore than you can drown yourself by holding your breath at the bottom of the shallow end of a swimming pool&#8230;absent some weight&#8230;such as a cannonball&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/xbutW_ouy60?start=83\" width=\"420\" height=\"235\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: underline;\"><em>reflexively surface<\/em><\/span>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>One might as well try holding one&#8217;s breath until one suffocated.\u00a0 Not to mention, how does falling forward from your feet or knees generate sufficient force to fracture the bone broken in Epstein&#8217;s neck?!?\u00a0 Just sayin&#8217;.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Scotty had it right when he observed&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/al2z7t3M9Og?start=0&amp;end=7&amp;\" width=\"420\" height=\"235\" Ten Commandments, yet whose pastoral staff and deacons all engaged in adultery, drugs, drunkenness and debauchery of every variety, how long would continue to attend?&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>&#8220;Not long, Dad.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>&#8220;Precisely&#8221;, Bill replied. &#8220;Neither should you give shrift to those who show up for an anthropogenic global warming summit via mega-yacht or private jet&#8230;let alone those who spend <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>millions of dollars<\/em><\/span> to purchase beachfront property far beyond the lifetime earnings of John Q. Working-Class-Citizen&#8230;when the world&#8217;s supposed to end in less than 12 years if the rest of us don&#8217;t change our carbon-centric ways.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Then the mass shootings in El Paso and Dayton.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong>Even <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>that<\/em><\/span> wasn\u2019t enough to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>sate the monster he created<\/em><\/span>, so Baquet assembled the newsroom <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>to hear the grievances and explain his thinking<\/em><\/span>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">Though none of those asking questions are identified, they are <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>indistinguishable in wanting the paper to regularly call Trump a racist and a liar<\/em><\/span>.<\/span> These are <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>supposedly straight news reporters and editors<\/em><\/span>, yet are <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>unrestrained in demanding that their partisan opinions dictate coverage<\/em><\/span>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong>One staffer asks Baquet, \u201cCould you explain your decision <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>not to more regularly use the word racist in reference to the president\u2019s actions<\/em><\/span>?\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong>Another wonders, \u201cYou mentioned that there <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>could be<\/em><\/span> situations when we <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>would use<\/em><\/span> the word <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>racist<\/em><\/span>. <span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">What <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>is<\/em><\/span> that standard?\u201d<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong>A third sees \u201c<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>racism and
