width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p class=\"speakable\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8220;<span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #008080;\">Two boys in\u00a0California\u00a0were\u00a0killed\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>early Saturday while sitting inside a van in the parking lot of an\u00a0elementary school\u00a0when an unknown number of\u00a0gunmen\u00a0opened fire into the vehicle<\/em><\/span>, authorities said.<\/span> <span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\">The boys, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>ages\u00a011 and 14<\/em><\/span>, were shot outside Searles Elementary School in Union City, located about 30 miles southeast of San Francisco, Union City police said in a\u00a0news release.<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #008080;\"><strong>Multiple residents called 911 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>and reported hearing gunshots around 1:30 a.m.<\/em><\/span>, the\u00a0East Bay Times\u00a0reported<\/strong><\/span>&#8230;&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8230;has no one asked or wondered what on earth 11-year-old and 14-year-old boys were doing in <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>a van<\/em><\/span>\u00a0in <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>an <\/em><em>elementary school parking lot<\/em><\/span> at <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>0130 IN THE MORNING<\/em><\/span><em>?!?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Just sayin&#8217;, as inquiring minds would LOVE to know.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Now, here&#8217;s <em>The Gouge<\/em>!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>First up, as Leah Barkoukis reports at\u00a0<em>Townhall.com<\/em>&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<h1 class=\"headline\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/townhall.com\/tipsheet\/leahbarkoukis\/2019\/11\/29\/martin-omalley-ken-cuccinelli-n2557232\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #ff6600; text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #800080; text-decoration: underline;\">Prominent Democrat Martin O&#8217;Malley Publicly Harasses Ken Cuccinelli in &#8216;Shocking&#8217; Confrontation at DC Pub<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><\/h1>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/download.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-75240\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/download.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"350\" height=\"397\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/download.jpeg 350w, https:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/download-264x300.jpeg 264w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 350px) 100vw, 350px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8220;&#8230;They crossed paths at an Irish pub, The Dubliner, where they were both attending an event for graduates of Gonzaga College High School. <span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>Rather than being able to enjoy his Guinness, however, Cuccinelli was subject to a \u201cpassion-laced and shame-invoking tirade\u201d by O\u2019Malley<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em> over the Trump administration\u2019s immigration policies<\/em><\/span>.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong>O\u2019Malley was so fired up Cuccinelli said his neck veins were \u201cbulging.\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8230;<span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #800080;\">Cuccinelli said O\u2019Malley \u201calso inspired one or two of his (apparent)\u00a0buddies to join in the cussing assault.\u201d<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #333399;\">Attempting to deescalate the situation, Cuccinelli left to go order at a different bar within the pub, but O\u2019Malley followed him.<\/span><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">\u00a0<span style=\"color: #800080;\">\u201c[A]t which point O&#8217;Malley pushed his way through the small group to confront me face to face, still cursing me, the President, and my Italian ancestry and he got right up in my face, bumped up against me and invited me to take a swing at him,\u201d he said, adding that he told O\u2019Malley \u2018one of us has to rise above this, and it&#8217;s obviously not going to be you.\u2019\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8230;<span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #333399;\">\u201cMartin&#8217;s behavior was as sad as it was shocking,\u201d Cuccinelli said in the statement. \u201cI learned on the other side of the pub that Martin&#8217;s screaming was so loud that people on the other side of the pub heard him.<\/span> \u00a0<span style=\"color: #800080;\">I also learned from others who have known Martin for years that while his behavior was shocking, it was not new to them.\u201d<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/sZ76ckSPSGE\" width=\"420\" height=\"235\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong>He described some of the criticism from O\u2019Malley as \u201codd\u201d given that\u00a0\u201cthey applied to President Obama&#8217;s policies, a fact he clearly did not appreciate me pointing out (without screaming it, btw).\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>O\u2019Malley seemed to have no regrets about his behavior, telling The Washington Post in a text: \u201cWe all let him know how we felt about <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>him<\/em><\/span> putting refugee immigrant kids in cages \u2014 certainly not what we were taught by the Jesuits at Gonzaga.\u201d<\/strong><\/span>&#8230;&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Because the Jesuits&#8230;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/1838_Jesuit_slave_sale\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/opinions\/richard-spencer-i-was-fired-as-navy-secretary-heres-what-ive-learned-because-of-it\/2019\/11\/27\/9c2e58bc-1092-11ea-bf62-eadd5d11f559_story.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" class=\"broken_link\">op-ed<\/a><\/em><em>\u00a0for The Washington Post titled, &#8220;Richard Spencer: I was fired as Navy secretary. Here&#8217;s what I&#8217;ve learned because of it<\/em><\/span>.&#8221; <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">In the op-ed, Spencer appears to have <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>learned nothing<\/em><\/span> from his termination and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>confirms everything<\/em><\/span> Trump said about him and the deep state.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong>&#8220;<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>It is highly irregular for a secretary to become deeply involved in most personnel matters<\/em><\/span>,&#8221; Spencer acknowledges. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">The former Navy secretary <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>then goes on to say how he inserted himself into the case of Chief Petty Officer Eddie Gallagher in order to undermine the president&#8217;s wishes<\/em><\/span>.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>&#8220;Before the trial began, in March, I received <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>two calls<\/em><\/span> from the president <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>asking<\/em><\/span> me to lift Gallagher\u2019s confinement in a Navy brig,&#8221; Spencer writes. &#8220;I pushed back <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>twice<\/em><\/span>, because the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>presiding judge<\/em><\/span>, acting on information about the accused\u2019s conduct, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>had decided that confinement was important<\/em><\/span>.&#8221;<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>Isn&#8217;t the chain of command something they teach in the Navy<\/em><\/span>? <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Spencer <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>ignored<\/em><\/span> the president of the United States <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>twice<\/em><\/span> because <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>he thought some judge&#8217;s decision was more &#8220;important&#8221;<\/em><\/span>?<\/span> Trump must be <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>so used<\/em><\/span> to dealing with the deep state that he <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>didn&#8217;t fire the insubordinate Navy secretary right then and there<\/em><\/span>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>&#8220;<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>Eventually<\/em><\/span>, the president <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>ordered<\/em><\/span> me to have him transferred to the equivalent of an enlisted barracks,&#8221; writes a defeated Spencer.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">When Chief Gallagher was acquitted on all but one charge of posing with a dead terrorist&#8217;s corpse, something I feel we should encourage, Gallagher was demoted to [petty] officer and requested to voluntarily retire from the Navy. The former Navy secretary writes that there were important questions for the Navy to consider, like should Chief Gallagher retire at his current rank, should he be discharged honorably and should he be allowed to keep his Trident pin.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>Fearing the president might catch on<\/em><\/span> that Spencer was trying to punish the Navy SEAL after he was just cleared of any real wrongdoing, the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>now-fired<\/em><\/span> Navy secretary had the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>audacity<\/em><\/span> to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>write<\/em><\/span> the president <em>and ask him<\/em> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>not to get involved<\/em><\/span> in the Navy&#8217;s further punishing of Chief Gallagher.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">&#8220;On Nov. 14&#8230;&#8221; Spencer recalls, &#8220;<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>I sent him a note asking him not to get involved in these questions<\/em><\/span>.&#8221;<\/span> By Spencer&#8217;s <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>own version of events<\/em><\/span>, this is now the <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">third time<\/span> the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Secretary of the Navy<\/span> had rebuffed the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Commander-in-Chief<\/span><\/em>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Suspecting they had a deep stater in their midst, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>White House Counsel Pat Cipollone then called Spencer twice to inform the Navy secretary that the president, as commander-in-chief, would continue to be involved in whatever the hell he wanted to<\/em><\/span> and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>advised Spencer<\/em><\/span> that <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>the president would be ordering the Navy secretary to\u00a0restore\u00a0Gallagher to the rank of chief<\/em><\/span>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong>&#8220;This was a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>shocking and unprecedented intervention<\/em><\/span> in a low-level review,&#8221; writes an angry Spencer. <span style=\"color: #008000;\">(<em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Except<\/span>, for example, the cases of <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Bo Bergdahl<\/span> and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Bradley Manning<\/span>!<\/em>)<\/span> <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">&#8220;It was also a reminder that <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>the president has very little understanding of what it means to be in the military<\/em><\/span>, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>to fight ethically or to be governed by a uniform set of rules and practices<\/em><\/span>.&#8221;<\/span> <span style=\"color: #008000;\">(<em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Objection<\/span>, your honor; counsel is introducing <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">facts not in evidence<\/span>.\u00a0 If such <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">were<\/span> the case, <\/em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">why<\/span><em> did the defendant <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">agree to work for President Trump in the first place<\/span>?!?<\/em>)<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong>In addition to the chain of command, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>add civilian control over the military<\/em><\/span> to the list of things the former Navy secretary <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>doesn&#8217;t understand<\/em><\/span>. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">The founding fathers put a civilian in charge of the military to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>prevent<\/em><\/span> power-hungry Navy secretaries like Richard Spencer <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>from becoming tyrants who mistakenly believe they answer to no one<\/em><\/span>.<\/span> Our founding fathers wanted to make sure our <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>number one military leader<\/em><\/span> was held <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>directly accountable<\/em><\/span> to the American people <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>every four years<\/em><\/span>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">In <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>Spencer&#8217;s<\/em><\/span> worldview, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>he doesn&#8217;t answer to the duly elected president<\/em><\/span>.<\/span> The <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>deep state<\/em><\/span> answers to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>nobody<\/em><\/span>.<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"> &#8220;Given my desire to resolve a festering issue,&#8221; a hard-headed Spencer continues, &#8220;<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>I tried to find a way that would prevent the president from further involvement<\/em><\/span> while trying all avenues to get Gallagher\u2019s file in front of a peer-review board.&#8221;<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong>Spencer then <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>admits<\/em><\/span> to making <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>one<\/em><\/span> mistake: &#8220;I also began to work <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>without personally consulting Defense Secretary Mark T. Esper on every step<\/em><\/span>. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>That was<\/em><\/span>, I see in retrospect, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>a mistake for which I am solely responsible<\/em><\/span>.&#8221;<\/span> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>You think<\/em><\/span>?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>Then<\/em><\/span>, on Nov. 19, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>Spencer brazenly told White House staff of his plan to thwart the president&#8217;s involvement by sending the case of Chief Gallagher to an independent review board in the Navy<\/em><\/span>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong>&#8220;But the question was quickly made moot,&#8221; Spencer laments. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">&#8220;On Nov. 21, the president tweeted that Gallagher would be allowed to keep his pin \u2014 Trump\u2019s <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>third intervention in the case<\/em><\/span>.&#8221;<\/span>\u00a0<span style=\"color: #008000;\">(<em>To borrow a phrase from Spencer&#8217;s EnviroNazi soulmate, &#8220;How <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">DARE<\/span> he?!?&#8221;<\/em>)<\/span>\u00a0Showing how irredeemable of a deep stater Spencer was, the recalcitrant former Navy secretary writes, &#8220;<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>I recognized that the tweet revealed the president\u2019s intent<\/em><\/span>. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">But I <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>did not believe it to be an official order<\/em><\/span>, chiefly because <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>every action taken by the president in the case so far had either been a verbal or written command<\/em><\/span>.&#8221;<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong>&#8220;The <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>rest<\/em><\/span>,&#8221;
