government<\/em><\/span>.<\/span> What authoritarian regime has <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>ever<\/em><\/span> been open and transparent? <span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">Federal Communication Commission Commissioner Brendan Carr has eight questions for the authoritarian regime, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>specifically relating to those that Chinese government officials have disappeared<\/em><\/span>.<\/span> There are vloggers, citizen journalists, and doctors who tried to do the right thing and raise the red flag and tried to document the ground conditions as Wuhan was engulfed by this disease. <span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">They\u2019ve <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>all vanished<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span>&#8230;.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/carr.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-79778\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/carr.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"459\" (max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Seven similar questions, all more &#8220;pointed&#8221; than &#8220;brutal&#8221;, follow, inquiring after the whereabouts of those Beijing deemed a threat to the narrative being peddled by the WHO, the MSM and Progressive politicians the world over.\u00a0 And all of who <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>knowingly risked their lives<\/em><\/span> to expose <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>the corruption of Xi Jinping and his cadre of contemporary Communist khans<\/em><\/span>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Something tells us inquiring minds are far more interested in exploring Carr&#8217;s questions than enduring Adam Schiff&#8217;s latest snipe hunt.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Perhaps if the good Congressman and his Senate colleagues read the latest from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/2020\/04\/chinas-wet-markets-americas-factory-farming-both-violate-moral-common-sense\/?utm_source=Sailthru&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=NR%20Daily%20Saturday%202020-04-11&amp;utm_term=NRDaily-Smart\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #0000ff;\"><em>Matt Scully at NRO<\/em><\/span><\/a>, they&#8217;d focus more on the former:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8220;&#8230;<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>The People\u2019s Republic has <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>supposedly banned<\/em><\/span> the exotic-meat trade, and one major city, Shenzhen, has proscribed <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>dog and cat meat<\/em><\/span> as well. <span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">In <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">reality<\/span><\/em>, observes a second\u00a0<em>Daily Mail<\/em>\u00a0correspondent, anonymously reporting from the city of Dongguan, \u201cthe markets have gone back to operating <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>in exactly the same way as they did before coronavirus<\/em><\/span>.\u201d<\/span> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>Nothing has changed<\/em><\/span>, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>except<\/em><\/span> in <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>one feature<\/em><\/span>: \u201cThe <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">only difference<\/span><\/em> is that security guards <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>try to stop anyone taking pictures<\/em><\/span>, which would never have happened before.\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">Lest we hope too much for some post-pandemic stirring of conscience, consider the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>Chinese government\u2019s idea<\/em><\/span> of a palliative for those suffering from the coronavirus.<\/span> As the crisis spread, apparently some fast-thinking experts in \u201c<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>traditional medicine<\/em><\/span>\u201d at China\u2019s <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>National Health Commission<\/em><\/span> turned to an <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>ancient remedy<\/em><\/span> known as Tan Re Qing, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>adding it to their official list of recommended treatments<\/em><\/span>. <span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">The potion consists chiefly of <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>bile extracted from bears<\/em><\/span>. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">The <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>more fortunate<\/em><\/span> of these bears are <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>shot in the wild<\/em><\/span> for use of their gallbladders.<\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">The <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">others<\/span><\/em>, across China and Southeast Asia, are <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>captured<\/em><\/span> and \u201cfarmed\u201d <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">by the thousands<\/span><\/em>, in a process that involves their interminable, year-after-year confinement in fit-to-size cages, interrupted only by the agonies of having the bile drained. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Do an image search on \u201cbear bile farming\u201d sometime when you\u2019re ready to be reminded of what hellish animal torments only <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">human stupidity, arrogance, and selfishness<\/span><\/em> could devise.<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><strong>If <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>one abomination<\/em><em> could yield an antidote for the consequences of another<\/em><\/span>, Tan Re Qing would <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>surely be just the thing<\/em><\/span> to treat a virus <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>loosed in the pathogenic filth and blood-spilling of Wuhan\u2019s live market<\/em><\/span>. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">There\u2019s actually a <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">synthetic alternative<\/span><\/em> to the bile acids, but Tradition can be everything in these matters, and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>devotees insist<\/em><\/span> that the substance <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">must come from a bear<\/span><\/em>, even as <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">real<\/span><\/em> medical science rates the whole concoction at <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">somewhere between needless and worthless<\/span><\/em>.<\/span> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>President Xi Jinping has promoted such traditional medicines as a \u201ctreasure of Chinese civilization<\/em><\/span>.\u201d <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">In <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">this case<\/span><\/em>, the keys to the treasure open small, squalid cages in dark rooms, where the suffering of innocent creatures goes completely disregarded.<\/span> And perhaps <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>right there<\/em><\/span>, in the willfulness and hardness of heart of all such practices, is <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">the source of the trouble<\/span><\/em> that started in China<\/strong><\/span>&#8230;&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Seems like the ChiCom&#8217;s stumbled backward during their great leap forward.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Now, here&#8217;s <em>The Gouge<\/em>!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>First up, a bit of good news for those concerned, given the party affiliation of his state&#8217;s governor, Richard Burr&#8217;s HIGHLY-suspect stocks sales might result in his seat going to the disloyal opposition; particularly as, were we either Mitch McConnell or his personal attorney, we&#8217;d be telling Burr&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/-opqUSOUDQY?start=56&amp;end=59&amp;\" width=\"420\" height=\"235\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>Under North Carolina law, Dimocrat Roy Cooper is required to choose from a three-name list provided by the same party to which Burr belongs.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><strong>And while &#8220;Self-Serving, Double-Dealing, Disgraced Douche Pump&#8221; certainly describes Burr&#8230;along with a large number of the equally-despicable denizens of\u00a0 the D.C. swamp&#8230;it&#8217;s nonetheless <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>not<\/em><\/span> his <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">official<\/span><\/em> political party.\u00a0 Thus Cooper will be forced to name <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>another Republican<\/em><\/span>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>That is, unless Tar Heel State Republicans pull a boner of the epic proportions for which the national GOP is so well known&#8230;and name <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>three Dimocrats<\/em><\/span> for Burr&#8217;s seat.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Next up, the <em>WSJ<\/em>&#8216;s Kim Strassel offers an interesting take on what she deems to be a last-ditch effort for influence, as&#8230;\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<h1 class=\"wsj-article-headline\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/bernie-campaigns-on-11586473405?mod=MorningEditorialReport&amp;mod=djemMER_h\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">He gives up on the nomination but is determined to make Biden unelectable<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8220;<span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong>When it comes to \u201cfake news,\u201d we had a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>whopper<\/em><\/span> this week. Voters were informed that Bernie Sanders was <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>dropping out<\/em><\/span> of the Democratic presidential contest. <span style=\"color: #800080;\">Joe Biden only <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>wishes it were so<\/em><\/span>.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong>True, Mr. Sanders announced on Wednesday the \u201c<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>suspension<\/em><\/span>\u201d of his campaign, noting that he trailed Mr. Biden by some 300 delegates, and that no \u201chonest assessment\u201d showed a path to the nomination. <span style=\"color: #800080;\">The Vermont senator said he could not \u201cin good conscience continue to mount a campaign that cannot win.\u201d<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong>Yet Mr. Sanders said he <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>nonetheless would<\/em><\/span> (and could in good conscience?) \u201cstay on the ballot in all remaining states and continue to gather delegates,\u201d so as to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>exert \u201c<\/em><em>significant influence<\/em><\/span>\u201d over the party. <span style=\"color: #800080;\">He also <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>declined<\/em><\/span> to promise he\u2019ll <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>help<\/em><\/span> Mr. Biden get elected.<\/span> He instead blandly noted that his rival was a \u201cvery decent man, who I will work with <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>to move our progressive ideas forward<\/em><\/span>.\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #800080;\">This <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>isn\u2019t<\/em><\/span> an <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>endorsement<\/em><\/span>; it\u2019s a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>threat<\/em><\/span>.<\/span> The Democratic Party is <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>split<\/em><\/span>, and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>Mr. Sanders<\/em><\/span> is the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>undisputed leader of its progressive wing<\/em><\/span>. <span style=\"color: #800080;\">He\u2019s <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>not<\/em><\/span> conceding gracefully; he\u2019s <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>not<\/em><\/span> rallying Democrats behind a nominee; he\u2019s <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>not going anywhere<\/em><\/span>\u2014<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>not without extracting a significant show of fealty from Mr. Biden<\/em><\/span>.<\/span> Put another way, the man who was <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>too radical to win<\/em><\/span> the nomination is now <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>determined to make Mr. Biden unelectable<\/em><\/span>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">&#8230;<\/span><strong><span style=\"color: #800080;\">This is <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>dangerous territory<\/em><\/span> for Mr. Biden, and it <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>highlights the party divide<\/em><\/span> that Mr. Sanders has inflamed.<\/span> Mr. Biden has <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>already shifted significantly to the left<\/em><\/span>, looking to attract progressive primary voters. <span style=\"color: #800080;\">He <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>now favors<\/em><\/span> a health-insurance \u201cpublic option,\u201d free community college, huge tax increases and forgiveness of many student loans.<\/span> Sewing up a nomination is <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">usually<\/span><\/em> the moment at which a candidate <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>begins pivoting back to the center<\/em><\/span> to appeal to independent and moderate voters.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>Mr. Sanders\u2019s intention is not only to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>block<\/em><\/span> such a pivot, but to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>jerk Mr. Biden further left<\/em><\/span><\/strong><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">&#8230;<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">&#8230;<\/span><strong>Polls show the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>top priority<\/em><\/span> of a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>majority<\/em><\/span> of Democrats is defeating Mr. Trump. <span style=\"color: #800080;\">But a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>majority<\/em><\/span> is <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>not all<\/em><\/span>, and in a close election, party unity and enthusiasm are paramount.<\/span> For <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>many<\/em><\/span> Sanders voters, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>ideology matters more than victory<\/em><\/span>. text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/joebiden.com\/lgbtq\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" class=\"broken_link\">Plan to Advance LGBTQ+ Equality<\/a><\/span><\/em><\/span>\u201d is a collection of ideas, gestures, and slogans that the former vice president (or his handlers) <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>hopes<\/em><\/span> will \u201cadvance\u201d the amorphous cause of \u201cequality\u201d for the \u201cLGBTQ+ community.\u201d <span style=\"color: #008000;\">(<em>Let&#8217;s be honest: they <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">hope<\/span> it buys them <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">votes<\/span>!<\/em>)<\/span> <span style=\"color: #ff00ff;\">The plan talks <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>a lot<\/em><\/span> about \u201cequality\u201d \u2014 Biden promises, variously, to \u201cresume the march for equality,\u201d support \u201cequality and inclusion,\u201d and \u201cchampion global equality\u201d \u2014 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>without once defining what he means<\/em><\/span> by \u201cequality,\u201d or <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>how<\/em><\/span> society at large is supposed to know <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>when<\/em><\/span> we have achieved it.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\">&#8230;<strong>What\u2019s <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>most unclear<\/em><\/span> from Biden\u2019s proposal is its <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>purpose<\/em><\/span>. <span style=\"color: #ff00ff;\">He does <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>not spell out<\/em><\/span> in precise language <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">how<\/span><\/em> the various interest groups in the \u201ccommunity\u201d in question <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>have yet to attain<\/em><\/span> the \u201cequality\u201d his plan is ostensibly meant to help them achieve.<\/span> The only thing that <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>is<\/em><\/span> clear is that \u201c<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>tolerance<\/em><\/span>,\u201d in the traditional understanding of that word, is <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">not<\/span><\/em> the plan\u2019s principal aim.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In Biden\u2019s defense, America has not been interested in \u201ctolerance\u201d since the decline of cultural Christianity began in earnest in the twilight of the second World War. Tolerance, as John Gray wrote in 1992, bears the \u201cimplication of judgment\u201d \u2014 to \u201ctolerate\u201d something is to cast judgment upon it.<\/span> <strong><span style=\"color: #ff00ff;\">If society \u201c<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>tolerates<\/em><\/span>\u201d a given behavior or belief, <em>it <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">acknowledges the existence of a moral standard<\/span> from which the behavior or belief in question <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">deviates<\/span><\/em>.<\/span> If there are <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>no normative standards<\/em><\/span>, then there is <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>nothing to tolerate<\/em><\/span> \u2014 <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">only differences to celebrate<\/span><\/em>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff00ff;\">Under the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>old regime<\/em><\/span> of tolerance \u2014 such as it was \u2014 one could <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>acknowledge<\/em><\/span> that a given behavior or belief <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>was<\/em><\/span> vicious, but join the philosopher in recognizing that \u201chuman laws do not forbid all vices.\u201d<\/span> We are <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>all sinners<\/em><\/span>, and while <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>your<\/em><\/span> vice may not be <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>mine<\/em><\/span>, we <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>both<\/em><\/span> are vicious and depraved. <span style=\"color: #ff00ff;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">No longer<\/span><\/em> \u2014 there <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>is no<\/em><\/span> depravity, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>no<\/em><\/span> category of \u201cvices\u201d which we might choose to tolerate \u2014 in the <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">post-tolerance regime of blind affirmation<\/span><\/em>, the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>only forbidden vice<\/em><\/span> is the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>recognition of \u201cvice\u201d as such<\/em><\/span>.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>In a post-Christian society \u2014 a post-religious society, in truth \u2014 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>such moral confusion is understandable<\/em><\/span>. <span style=\"color: #ff00ff;\">If the Gospels are stories concocted by first-century Jews who had a hallucinatory experience after the death of their cult leader, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>the moral commands that the New Testament contains are<\/em><\/span> \u2014 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>at best<\/em><\/span> \u2014 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>quaint suggestions<\/em><\/span>.<\/span> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>At worst<\/em><\/span>, they are <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>retrograde and capricious fables with nothing to teach a Modern and enlightened people<\/em><\/span>. <span style=\"color: #ff00ff;\">In <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>neither case<\/em><\/span> are its commands <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>binding<\/em><\/span>, at least in the same way they are to a people who believe them to be <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>actually<\/em><\/span> \u2014 not metaphorically or accidentally \u2014\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>true<\/em><\/span>.<\/span> If there <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>is no God<\/em><\/span>, then there is <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>no<\/em><\/span> natural law, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>no<\/em><\/span> preordained moral order whose dictates we can divine from the observable world. <span style=\"color: #ff00ff;\">If we inhabit a universe of ungoverned chaos <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>where truth and falsehood are matters of private opinion<\/em><\/span>, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>Joe Biden\u2019s reluctance<\/em><em> to comport himself<\/em><\/span> as though the Catholic faith <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>he professes<\/em><\/span> were <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>true<\/em><\/span> \u2014 indeed, as though there were <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>any<\/em><\/span> objective moral standards <span style=\"text-decoration:
