strategic bridge for China&#8217;s imperialist designs on the African continent<\/em><\/span>.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><strong>In December 2014, Tedros and Chinese Foreign Minister\u00a0Wang Yi\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #0000ff;\"><em><a style=\"color: #0000ff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.chinadaily.com.cn\/opinion\/2014-12\/01\/content_19000711_2.htm\" class=\"broken_link\">wrote<\/a><\/em><\/span>\u00a0a joint op-ed in which they gave voice to the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>close bond that was developing between their respective countries<\/em><\/span>. <span style=\"color: #800000;\">\u201c[O]n the basis of the principles of <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>equality, mutual respect and win-win cooperation<\/em><\/span>,\u201d said the authors, \u201cChina and Ethiopia have developed multi-dimensional relations\u2026We are <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>sincere<\/em><\/span> friends, reliable partners, and good brothers\u2026<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>each rejoicing in the successes the other has achieved<\/em><\/span>&#8230;China has become the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>biggest foreign investor and the largest trading partner of Ethiopia<\/em><\/span>.\u201d<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><strong>In 2017, Tedros ran for the post of Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), <span style=\"color: #800000;\">But at that same time, a\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #0000ff;\"><em><a style=\"color: #0000ff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.frontpagemag.com\/fpm\/2020\/04\/legacy-marxist-failure-dr-who-frontpagemagcom\/\">report<\/a><\/em><\/span><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/span>appeared in the\u00a0<em>Ethiopian News &amp; Views<\/em>\u00a0bulletin stating that <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>he stood\u00a0accused of complicity in the commission of \u201ccrimes against humanity<\/em><\/span>.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0That charge was related <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>not only<\/em><\/span> to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.globalhealthnow.org\/2017-05\/cholera-cover-charge-hurled-tedros\" class=\"broken_link\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">three aforementioned cholera coverups<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/a>, but also to\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>allegations\u00a0 surrounding Tedros&#8217;s longstanding political affiliation with the Tigray People&#8217;s Liberation Front<\/em><\/span> (TPLF), an\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #0000ff;\"><em><a style=\"color: #0000ff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.researchgate.net\/publication\/31275953_The_origins_of_the_Tigray_People&#039;s_Liberation_Front\" class=\"broken_link\">organization<\/a><\/em><\/span>\u00a0that: (a) <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>grew out of the\u00a0Marxist-Leninist League of Tigray<\/em><\/span>\u00a0(MLLT), and (b) <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>was responsible for horrific atrocities in Ethiopia<\/em><\/span> &#8212; <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>particularly<\/em><\/span> targeting\u00a0the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>Amhara ethnic group in the country&#8217;s northwest region<\/em><\/span>. <span style=\"color: #800000;\">In the 1990s, the U.S. government\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #0000ff;\"><em><a style=\"color: #0000ff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/hnewswire.com\/whos-tedros-adhanom-should-be-put-on-trial-for-crimes-against-humanity\/\">listed<\/a><\/em><\/span>\u00a0TPLF <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>as\u00a0a terrorist group<\/em><\/span>.<\/span> The Global Terror Database\u00a0<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em><a style=\"color: #0000ff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.start.umd.edu\/gtd\/search\/Results.aspx?perpetrator=2127\" class=\"broken_link\">continues<\/a><\/em><\/span>\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>to list it as such<\/em><\/span><\/span>, given the group&#8217;s <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>ongoing commission of armed attacks in rural areas<\/em><\/span>. <span style=\"color: #800000;\">Meanwhile, the aforementioned Amhara Professionals Union has\u00a0<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em><a style=\"color: #0000ff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/ecadforum.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/APU_opposes_candidacy_of_Dr_TAG.pdf?x35370\" class=\"broken_link\">issued<\/a><\/em><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>many accusations of systematic discrimination and human-rights abuses perpetrated by TPLF.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><strong>Tedros, for his part, is a\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #0000ff;\"><em><a style=\"color: #0000ff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.tigraionline.com\/cctplf.html\">high-ranking member of the TPLF&#8217;s Central Committee<\/a><\/em><\/span>, or politburo.\u00a0<span style=\"color: #800000;\">The \u201ccrimes against humanity\u201d allegations pertain to a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>systematic genocide that was carried out<\/em><\/span> &#8212; <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>at a time when Tedros was a leading figure in\u00a0Ethiopia&#8217;s public-health infrastructure<\/em><\/span> &#8212; <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>against the Amhara<\/em><\/span>, whom TPLF has identified\u00a0as its \u201c<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>eternal enemy<\/em><\/span>.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0As the Amhara Professionals Union\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: to a selective reduction of the growth rate of the Amhara people<\/span>. <\/em><span style=\"color: #008000;\">(<em>Gee,&#8230;or more appropriately, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Xi<\/span>, sound <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">familiar<\/span>?!?<\/em>)<\/span><em><span style=\"color: #800000;\"> Such disparities <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">were created<\/span> and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">gaps increased<\/span> across <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">all measures of health in his leadership tenure<\/span>.<\/span> Of <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">particular importance<\/span> is the unexplained <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">2.5 million decrease in the Amhara population<\/span> [<\/em>between<em>\u00a01994 and 2007] <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">under his healthcare leadership<\/span>. <span style=\"color: #800000;\">The Amharas were victimized and punished <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">due to their ethnic background<\/span><\/span><\/em><span style=\"color: #800000;\">.\u201d <span style=\"color: #008000;\">(<em>A state of affairs to which the Uighurs can <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">certainly<\/span> relate!<\/em>)<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><strong>TPLF provided <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>millions of dollars for Tedros&#8217;s campaign to become the leader of the WHO<\/em><\/span>. <span style=\"color: #800000;\">Those funds \u2013 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>along with vital support from China<\/em><\/span> \u2013 propelled Tedros to victory when, at the Seventieth World Health Assembly in May 2017, the WHO Member States elected him to a five-year term as their Director-General, making him the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>first person<\/em><\/span> to hold that position <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>without a medical degree<\/em><\/span>.<\/span> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>Notably<\/em><\/span>, the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>wife of Chinese President Xi Jinping<\/em><\/span> was the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>WHO&#8217;s longtime goodwill ambassador<\/em><\/span> \u2013 a post that enabled her to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>effectively promote Chinese interests under the penumbra of the UN<\/em><\/span>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Upon <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>formally taking the reins of the WHO<\/em><\/span> on July 1, 2017, Tedros outlined several<\/span>\u00a0<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.who.int\/antimicrobial-resistance\/interagency-coordination-group\/dg_who_bio\/en\/\">priorities<\/a><\/span><\/em><\/span>\u00a0<span style=\"color: #800000;\">upon which <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>he intended to focus<\/em><\/span>.<\/span> <span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>Most notably<\/em><\/span>: (a) <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>universal health coverage<\/em><\/span> (<\/span><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em><a style=\"color: #0000ff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20171208070645\/https:\/www.nytimes.com\/2017\/04\/03\/health\/the-campaign-to-lead-the-world-health-organization.html\">based<\/a><\/em><\/span><\/span>\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">on models in Ethiopia, Rwanda and Sri Lanka), and (b) the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>health impacts of<\/em> <em>climate and environmental change<\/em><\/span>.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>On October 18, 2017, Tedros announced that he had\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em><a style=\"color: #800000; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/world\/2017\/oct\/21\/un-lambasted-after-naming-mugabe-goodwill-ambassador\">chosen<\/a><\/em><\/span>\u00a0Zimbabwe&#8217;s former president, the Marxist tyrant\u00a0Robert Mugabe,\u00a0to serve as a\u00a0WHO\u00a0goodwill ambassador\u00a0helping to deal with non-communicable diseases in Africa. <span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">Tedros justified his selection of Mugabe by lauding Zimbabwe as \u201ca country that places universal health coverage and health promotion at the center of its policies to provide health care to all.\u201d<\/span> But in fact, Zimbabwe\u2019s <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>health system<\/em><\/span>,\u00a0like <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>everything else under the broad shadow of Mugabe\u2019s dictatorship<\/em><\/span>, was in <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>total collapse<\/em><\/span>.\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">Human Rights Watch\u00a0(HRW) reported that Mugabe&#8217;s \u201cutter\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #0000ff;\"><em><a style=\"color: #0000ff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/world-africa-41702662\">mismanagement<\/a><\/em><\/span>\u00a0of the economy has devastated health services\u201d in his homeland.<\/span> HRW&#8217;s Kenneth Roth noted that \u201c[w]hen you go to Zimbabwean hospitals, they lack the most basic necessities.\u201d <span style=\"color: #008000;\">(<em>Undoubtedly The Donald&#8217;s fault!<\/em>)<\/span> <span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">And the prominent Zimbabwean politician Obert Gutu said: \u201cThe Zimbabwe health delivery system is in a shambolic state, it is an insult.<\/span> Mugabe <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>trashed<\/em><\/span> our health delivery system&#8230;he allowed our public hospitals to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>collapse<\/em><\/span>.\u201d <span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">Moreover, it was an open secret that even Mugabe himself <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>did not use his own country&#8217;s health system when he needed medical care<\/em><\/span>, traveling instead <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>to Singapore for treatment<\/em><\/span>.<\/span> As a result of <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>widespread public outrage sparked by the Mugabe nomination<\/em><\/span>, Tedros <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>was forced to withdraw Mugabe&#8217;s name from consideration<\/em><\/span><\/strong><\/span>&#8230;&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>Frankly<\/em><\/span>, that should have
