Trevor stated in a recent conversation, many Progressive politicians have painted themselves into a COVID-19 corner from which they haven&#8217;t the faintest clue how to escape.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Whether it&#8217;s Fredo&#8217;s older brother Sonny <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2020\/04\/28\/more-blood-on-gov-cuomos-hands-amid-nursing-home-coronavirus-crisis-goodwin\/\"><em>ordering contagious virus victims into New York nursing homes<\/em><\/a><\/span><\/span>, the Illinois governor <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/KK_Ts418grY\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #0000ff;\"><em>verbally assaulting a reporter for pointing out his wife violated his own stay-at-home order<\/em><\/span><\/a>, or Lockdown Larry <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heraldmailmedia.com\/news\/nation\/rep-andy-harris-compares-maryland-to-n-korea-as-hundreds-protest-coronavirus-restrictions\/article_9f19a9d0-9b77-547f-8b8d-1b4c8c505134.html\" class=\"broken_link\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #0000ff;\"><em>lying about the number of demonstrators opposing his unnecessary edicts<\/em><\/span><\/a>, these a*sclowns have <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>put their own cajones<\/em><\/span>\u00a0in a wringer.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Frankly, we enjoy watching them squirm.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>But as the inestimable Daniel Francis Feeney noted, while, contrary to our earlier assertion, the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>initial global lockdown<\/em><\/span> may not have been <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>directed at The Donald<\/em><\/span>, the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>continued domestic lockdown<\/em><\/span> is <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>purely political<\/em><\/span>, and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>purposefully intended to take down Trump<\/em><\/span>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Next, consider this: Antony Faux-chi&#8217;s protestations to the contrary notwithstanding&#8230;and in opposition to most every intelligence report&#8230;assume for the moment the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>ChiComs created<\/em><\/span> the Wuhan virus as a potential biologic <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/3bXWGxhd7ic\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">intended to level the playing field in an active conflict with their only rival<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Were said genetically-modified viral weapon to escape\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>your<\/em><\/span> sorry-ass Wuhan lab and infect the world, are <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>you<\/em><\/span> going to admit it?!?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/1otTZq6UzLM?start=192\" width=\"420\" height=\"235\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>Again, this isn&#8217;t a blanket condemnation of the Chinese people; we&#8217;re talking about the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>leadership of Communist Party of China<\/em><\/span> authorizing the development of such a weapon.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Now, imagine, having <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>authorized<\/em><\/span> the creation of such a virus, you want to take it out for a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>test drive<\/em><\/span>.\u00a0 After all, as the successors of a regime which sacrificed some 70,000,000 lives in the name of the utterly ineffective Great Leap Forward, what&#8217;s another <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>100 million<\/em><\/span> out of a population of <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>1.4 BILLION<\/em><\/span>?!?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>So you <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>release it<\/em><\/span> out of Wuhan&#8230;via <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>expedited delivery<\/em><\/span> courtesy of the 5,000,000 largely international travelers you infected, then authorized.\u00a0 Imagine your surprise when, rather than the relatively placid response to your earlier releases of the Hong Kong flu, SARS, MERS and the Swine flu, the world reacted with a global lockdown you didn&#8217;t expect.\u00a0 A reaction which <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>hurt you<\/em><\/span> as much as it <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>hurt them<\/em><\/span>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Not saying <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>it happened<\/em><\/span>&#8230;only that <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>it&#8217;s far more than possible<\/em><\/span>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Then again, we&#8217;re a racist, misogynistic, homophobic, transgender-phobic, piece of dog squeeze.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>P.S.\u00a0 While the verbiage is ours, hat tip to the great Stilton Jarlsberg for the artwork accompanying our <em>Quote of the Day<\/em>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Now, here&#8217;s <em>The Gouge<\/em>!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>First up, as\u00a0<em>Townhall.com<\/em>&#8216;s Leah Barkoukis informs us, a&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<h1 class=\"headline\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/townhall.com\/tipsheet\/leahbarkoukis\/2020\/05\/04\/dhs-report-explains-why-china-hid-wuhan-coronavirus-information-n2568113\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000; or, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>far<\/em><\/span> more likely (b) it <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>really<\/em> <em>wasn&#8217;t much of a risk at all<\/em><\/span>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>We&#8217;re going with (b), an opinion shared by this piece from <em>Townhall.com<\/em> via\u00a0<\/strong><strong>The Boss, as Dennis Prager predicts&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<h1 class=\"headline\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/townhall.com\/columnists\/dennisprager\/2020\/05\/05\/the-worldwide-lockdown-may-be-the-greatest-mistake-in-history-n2568180\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #ff9900; <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>including<\/em><\/span> world leaders; most scientists, especially health officials, doctors and epidemiologists; those who work in major news media; opinion writers in those media; and the hundreds of millions, if not billions, of people who put their faith in these people &#8212; <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>as so preposterous as to be immoral<\/em><\/span>. <span style=\"color: #333399;\">Timothy Egan of <em>The New York Times<\/em> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>described Republicans who wish to enable their states to open up as &#8220;the party of death<\/em><\/span>.&#8221;<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>That&#8217;s the way it is today on planet Earth, <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">where deceit, cowardice and immaturity now dominate almost all societies<\/span><\/em> because <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>the elites are deceitful, cowardly and immature<\/em><\/span>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #333399;\">But for those <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>open to reading thoughts they may differ with<\/em><\/span>, here is the case for <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>why the worldwide lockdown is not only a mistake but also, possibly, the worst mistake the world has ever made<\/em><\/span>.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/409g1i.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-80650\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/409g1i.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"420\" height=\"280\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/409g1i.jpg 420w, https:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/409g1i-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 420px) 100vw, 420px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>And for those intellectually challenged by the English language and\/or logic, &#8220;mistake&#8221; and &#8220;evil&#8221; <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>are not synonyms<\/em><\/span>. <span style=\"color: #333399;\">The <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>lockdown<\/em><\/span> is a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>mistake<\/em><\/span>; the Holocaust, slavery, communism, fascism, etc., <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>were evils<\/em><\/span>.<\/span> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>Massive mistakes<\/em><\/span> are made by <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>arrogant fools<\/em><\/span>; <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>massive evils<\/em><\/span> are committed by <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>evil people<\/em><\/span>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #333399;\">The <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>forcible prevention<\/em><\/span> of Americans from doing anything <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>except what politicians deem &#8220;essential<\/em><\/span>&#8221; has led to the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>worst economy in American history since the Great Depression<\/em><\/span> of the 1930s.<\/span>\u00a0<em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">It is panic and hysteria, not the coronavirus<\/span>,\u00a0<\/em>that <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>created this catastrophe<\/em><\/span>. <span style=\"color: #333399;\">And the consequences in <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>much of the world<\/em><\/span> will be <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>more horrible than in America<\/em><\/span>.<\/span><i class=\"fa fa-arrow-circle-right\"><\/i><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>The United Nations World Food Programme, or the WFP, states that by the end of the year, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>more than 260 million people will face starvation<\/em><\/span> &#8212; <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>double<\/em><\/span> last year&#8217;s figures. <span style=\"color: #333399;\">According to WFP director David Beasley on April 21: &#8220;We could be looking at famine in about <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>three dozen countries<\/em><\/span>&#8230;There is <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>also a real danger<\/em><\/span> that\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>more people could potentially die from the economic impact of COVID-19 than from the virus itself<\/em><\/span>&#8220;<\/span><\/strong><\/span>&#8230;&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Coupled with the crop damage massive swarms of locusts have visited upon significant swaths of East Africa of late, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>starvation<\/em><\/span> certainly seems the more serious threat.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Particularly when one realizes all the world&#8217;s scientific resources have yet to develop a sure-fire &#8220;cure&#8221; for the deadly\u00a0<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/?p=80646\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>Hong Kong Flu<\/em><\/span><\/a><\/span>,\u00a0as the virus mutates both between and during a given flu season, making any vaccine less effective.\u00a0 Still, despite the pathogen claiming 100,000 lives in the U.S. and some 1,000,000 worldwide in 1968-69&#8230;and returning for an encore performance every year since&#8230;it&#8217;s yet to merit the reaction of the Wuhan virus.\u00a0 Just sayin&#8217;.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Meanwhile, back in the good ol&#8217; US of A, writing at\u00a0<em>Best of the Web<\/em>, Jim Freeman records sentient parts of the country are&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<h1 class=\"wsj-article-headline\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/ready-for-the-american-rebound-11588713981?mod=djemBestOfTheWeb\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #333399; text-decoration: underline;\">Ready for the American Rebound<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/h1>\n<h3 class=\"sub-head\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/ready-for-the-american-rebound-11588713981?mod=djemBestOfTheWeb\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #ff6600; But <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>nationwide the lockdowners are losing public support<\/em><\/span>. <span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">Pollster Scott Rasmussen reports today via email:<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong><em>Today\u2019s Number of the Day presented by Ballotpedia shows that <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">49% of voters nationwide now fear the economic threat from the coronavirus more than the health threat<\/span>. <span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">Forty-five percent (45%) take the opposite view and are more worried about the health threat. <\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/span><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>(<em>Here&#8217;s an idea: YOU 45%ers continue to shelter in place while the REST OF US begin living and working again!<\/em>)<\/strong><\/span><em><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #333399;\"> These numbers reflect a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">significant change over the past month<\/span>.<\/span> In late March, by a 55% to 38% margin, voters were more concerned about the health threat<\/strong><\/span>&#8230;<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong><em>These results are consistent with other data showing that <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">people are looking to loosen some of the restrictions<\/span>. <span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">Voters nationwide are evenly divided as to whether the lockdowns should continue.<\/span> And, they have come to recognize that it\u2019s <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">not simply a question of stay home to stay safe or go out and get sick<\/span>.
