width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8220;<strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">If you were watching MSNBC last Sunday, you may have seen <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>Imani Perry<\/em><\/span>, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>professor of African-American studies at Princeton University<\/em><\/span>, and wondered, as <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">I<\/span><\/em> did,\u00a0<em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Why do I know that name<\/span>?\u00a0<\/em><span style=\"color: #333399;\">Professor Perry\u2019s delightfully original point was that <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>we need to \u201cthink in serious contemplative ways about the depth of American inequality<\/em><\/span>.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">So <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>perhaps<\/em><\/span> we know her from her <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>incisive commentary<\/em><\/span>! <span style=\"color: #333399;\">I certainly haven\u2019t heard\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>anyone<\/em><\/span>\u00a0talk about American inequality.<\/span> It <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>really<\/em><\/span> made me think. <span style=\"color: #333399;\">But then I suddenly realized it\u2019s\u00a0<em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">that<\/span><\/em>\u00a0Imani Perry!<\/span> The one <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>who nearly destroyed a policeman\u2019s life by falsely accusing him of racism<\/em><\/span>!<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong>Back in <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>February 2016<\/em><\/span>, Perry launched<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #0000ff;\"><em><strong><a style=\"color: #0000ff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/news\/grade-point\/wp\/2016\/02\/08\/a-black-princeton-professor-says-she-was-handcuffed-to-a-table-for-her-unpaid-parking-ticket\/\" class=\"broken_link\">a series of tweets<\/a><\/strong><\/em><\/span><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong>, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>alleging the following<\/em><\/span>:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">\u2014 She was \u201c<em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">arrested<\/span><\/em> in Princeton Township <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">for a single parking ticket three years ago<\/span><\/em>.\u201d<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong>\u2014 She was cuffed \u2014 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>FOR A PARKING TICKET<\/em><\/span> \u2014 and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>not allowed to make a phone call<\/em><\/span> \u201cso that someone would know where I was.\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">\u2014 \u201cI was <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>afraid<\/em><\/span>,\u201d she wrote. \u201c<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>Many women who look like me<\/em><\/span> have a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>much more frightening end to such arrests<\/em><\/span>.\u201d<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong><em>Oh my gosh, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">she could have been killed<\/span>!<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">\u2014 She was \u201c<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>working to move from being shaken to renewing my commitment to the struggle against racism &amp; carcerality<\/em><\/span>.\u201d<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Naturally<\/span><\/em>, her story became <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>instant international news<\/em><\/span>.<\/span> The president of Princeton <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>leapt<\/em><\/span> to her defense, firing off a letter to the chief of police, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>demanding an investigation<\/em><\/span>. <span style=\"color: #333399;\">(I know Perry is a professor, but you\u2019d think that, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>by now<\/em><\/span>, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>more<\/em><\/span> people would say,\u00a0<em>Let\u2019s wait for the facts.<\/em>)<\/span><i class=\"fa fa-arrow-circle-right\"><\/i><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Perry attributed the universal acceptance of her story to her \u201csmall build\u201d and her association with \u201celite universities\u201d such as Princeton. <span style=\"color: #333399;\">Just a thought, but it <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>might<\/em><\/span> also be <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>because she\u2019s black<\/em><\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">The Princeton police spent several days investigating before finally releasing<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/b08saS7vHhs\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #0000ff;\"><em>the dashcam footage<\/em><\/span><\/strong><\/a><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>.<\/strong> <\/span><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong>I\u2019m <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>hoping<\/em><\/span> they dragged it out to allow public outrage to reach maximum velocity. <span style=\"color: #800000;\">Perry <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>wasn\u2019t<\/em><\/span> arrested \u201cfor a single parking ticket three years ago.\u201d<\/span> After being stopped <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>for going 67 mph in a 45 mph speed zone<\/em><\/span>, officers ran her name and discovered <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>her license had been\u00a0suspended<\/em><\/span>. <span style=\"color: #800000;\">She was<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em> arrested<\/em><\/span> for <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>driving with a suspended license<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span>&#8230;&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Which provides the perfect segue to a suggestion our old buddy Eddie offered: in the interests of truth and accuracy, as well as restoring the confidence of the American television viewer in the credibility of those purportedly proffering fact rather than fiction over the public airwaves, the appearance of every pundit, politician, talking head, newscaster and\/or anyone else on television should be accompanied by a disclaimer, as in the case of Professor Perry, detailing any instance of previous of prevarication.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Or, as in the case of another\u00a0<\/strong><strong>noted fabulist, future interviews would be always be augmented by a graphic of his &#8220;scorecard&#8221;, as it were:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/46amuv.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-82481\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/46amuv.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"420\" height=\"280\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/46amuv.jpg 420w, https:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/46amuv-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 420px) 100vw, 420px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>As Eddie noted, Schiff&#8217;s can&#8217;t win on the road&#8230;he&#8217;s got no home field advantage&#8230;he&#8217;s got <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>nothin<\/em><\/span>&#8216;!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Speaking of individuals who are 0-whatever, be it in the accuracy of their assertions or success to date in <em>NASCAR<\/em> competition&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<h1 class=\"entry__title\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/ftw.usatoday.com\/2020\/06\/nascar-bubba-wallace-noose-fbi-talladega-don-lemon-cnn\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #333399; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>The more we learn about Bubba Wallace, the more we believe he has far more in common with Colin Kaepernick than Jackie Robinson, who, as the son of a very dear friend recently reminded us, endured years of\u00a0 incredibly vituperative verbal and physical racial abuse.\u00a0 In fact, we&#8217;ve begun to consider this entire episode, including his opposition to the Confederate battle flag, might be one big PR stunt, either individually by Wallace&#8217;s team or in concert with its professional sports franchise which has been experiencing a steadily declining audience.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>We&#8217;re also\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>more than a little curious<\/em><\/span> about another aspect of this latest non-hate crime: specifically, with <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>all that&#8217;s going on in the country<\/em><\/span>&#8230;<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/wray-reveals-fbi-looking-carefully-at-foreign-interference-in-protests-following-george-floyds-death\" class=\"broken_link\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Antifa,\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/a><em><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/wray-reveals-fbi-looking-carefully-at-foreign-interference-in-protests-following-george-floyds-death\" class=\"broken_link\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">foreign interference, you name it<\/span><\/a><\/em><\/span>&#8230;<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>FIFTEEN<\/em><\/span>\u00a0<em>FBI<\/em> special agents could be spared to\u00a0investigate a garage door pull-down loop shaped like a noose in Alabama&#8230;for a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>private enterprise worth billions of dollars<\/em><\/span> with its <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>own security staff<\/em><\/span>?\u00a0 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>Seriously<\/em><\/span>?!?\u00a0 Is <em>NASCAR<\/em> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>at least reimbursing<\/em><\/span> taxpayers for the agents&#8217; underline;\"><em>innocent<\/em><\/span> of the arson charge.<\/span> \u201cNatalie did not set that Wendy\u2019s on fire, I want to make that point clear,\u201d he told the station. <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">The attorney <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>confirmed<\/em><\/span>, however, that White <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>is<\/em><\/span> the woman seen in FOX 5 footage <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>appearing to ignite an aerosol can shortly before the restaurant went up in flames<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span>&#8230;<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8230;<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Magistrate Judge Todd Ashley granted White her release pending further legal action.<\/span> The <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>University of Georgia graduate<\/em><\/span> was also ordered to stay off social media while her case is decided, the report said<\/strong><\/span>&#8230;&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>At the risk of seeming judgmental, are we the only one who thinks something&#8217;s wrong with this picture?!?\u00a0 No, not that a defense counsel claims to be representing an innocent client, but rather a college graduate&#8217;s (okay, a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>UGA<\/em><\/span>\u00a0alumni!) hanging with a homeboy with a rap sheet longer than her arm.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>And when was the last time an arson suspect was released on a $10,000 bond?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Next up, writing at the <em>WSJ<\/em>, David Crawford and Michael Hanby relate the reality behind&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<h1 class=\"wsj-article-headline\" decide questions of truth without thinking deeply or even honestly about them<\/em><\/span>.\u00a0<span style=\"color: #e3b668;\"><em>Bostock v.
