color: #0000ff;\"><em>NBC News<\/em><\/span><\/a>:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"endmarkEnabled\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8220;<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Wisconsin authorities have identified the two men who were\u00a0allegedly shot dead by a 17-year-old earlier this week during a protest in Kenosha\u00a0over the\u00a0shooting of Jacob Blake by police.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"endmarkEnabled\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #333399;\">The two men, Joseph Rosenbaum, 36, and Anthony Huber, 26, were killed Tuesday <span style=\"color: #ff00ff;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">when they tried to intervene during the alleged shooting rampage by the teenager<\/span><\/em><\/span>.<\/span> A third man, Gaige P. #333399;\">Cellphone videos from the demonstration Tuesday night showed Rosenbaum<\/span> <span style=\"color: #ff00ff;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">approaching the teen<\/span><\/em><\/span><span style=\"color: #333399;\">, who was carrying an AR-15 style rifle, according to the charging documents, and <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Rosenbaum appeared to throw a plastic bag at him before the latter opened fire<\/span><\/em>.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>(Sorry, but we were under the impression plastic tends to melt&#8230;<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" struck several times<\/strong><\/span>&#8230;&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>(2). <em>The Atlantic<\/em>, from aptly entitled article, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #0000ff;\"><em>This is How Biden Loses<\/em><\/span>:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8220;<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #333399;\">Events are unfolding with the inevitable logic of a nightmare.<\/span> A white police officer shoots a Black man <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">as he\u2019s leaning into a car with his three sons inside<\/span><\/em>\u2014shoots him <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">point-blank in the back<\/span><\/em>, seven times, \u201c<em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">as if he didn\u2019t matter<\/span><\/em>,\u201d the victim\u2019s father later says. <span style=\"color: #333399;\">If George Floyd was <span style=\"color: #ff00ff;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">crushed to death<span style=\"color: #333399; text-decoration: underline;\"> by depraved indifference<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/span>, Jacob Blake is <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">the object of an <span style=\"color: #ff00ff; text-decoration: underline;\">attempted execution<\/span><\/span><\/em>.<\/span> <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Somehow<\/span><\/em>, he <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">survives<\/span><\/em>\u2014<em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">but his body is shattered, paralyzed from the waist down, maybe for life<\/span><\/em>. <span style=\"color: #333399;\">Kenosha explodes in rage, the same rage that\u2019s been igniting around the country all summer long, fading in Minneapolis only to flare up in Portland.<\/span> In Kenosha, as elsewhere, <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #ff00ff;\">what starts in peaceful protest<\/span><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"> soon leads to violence<\/span><\/em>: cars burned, shops smashed, local businesses destroyed. <span style=\"color: #333399;\">Police and rioters incite one another to escalate; armed vigilantes take matters into their own hands; and<\/span> <span style=\"color: #ff00ff;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">a teenager from out of state kills <span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">Rosenbaum had a two-year-old daughter, according to local reports, while Huber leaves behind a stepdaughter.<\/span> <span style=\"color: #333399;\">A third man, Gaige Grosskreutz, a 26-year-old from West Allis, 30 miles north of Kenosha, was shot but is expected to survive.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong>Huber, who lived in Silver Lake, 15 miles west of Kenosha, <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">was a keen skateboarder<\/span><\/em>, the\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><span #0000ff;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"> ended its article<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/a> by reporting&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8220;&#8230;<span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong>Online arrest records show Huber was arrested several times on battery, drugs and other charges. <span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">Rosenbaum had an open criminal case on battery, disorderly conduct and domestic abuse charges, according to the Wisconsin Circuit Court website. <\/span>His previous record could not immediately be confirmed.<\/strong><\/span>&#8220;<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8230;but only after the following, inexplicably fawning opening, which frankly left us wondering if the reporter had written the entire article before uncovering the character of his subjects:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\" data-page=\"1\" data-item-type=\"depthscroll\" data-item-id=\"depth_scroll_top\" data-item-number=\"top\">&#8220;<span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong>The two men who were gunned down during a chaotic night of demonstrations over the shooting of Jacob Blake in Wisconsin this week <span style=\"color: #ff00ff;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">have been identified by family and friends as \u201csweet\u201d and \u201cloving\u201d protesters<\/span><\/em><\/span>. <span style=\"color: #333399;\">Anthony Huber, 26, and Joseph Rosenbaum, 36, died after police said a 17-year-old gunman who was illegally carrying a rifle shot them #ff6600;\"><strong>Rittenhouse is a 17-year-old from Antioch, Ill., about a half hour\u2019s drive from Kenosha. <span style=\"color: #800080;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Inexplicably<\/span><\/em>, this underage police cadet from out of state wound up on the streets after curfew in a place where a riot was likely imminent, doing interviews with journalists and openly carrying an AR-15\u2013style rifle.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong>There can be no question that Rittenhouse and whatever adults were in charge of him <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">made idiotic decisions<\/span><\/em>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Minors should not stand guard at riots play-acting at being cops<\/span><\/em>.<\/span> But even people who <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">knowingly<\/span><\/em> put themselves in the wrong place at the wrong time <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>are allowed to defend themselves against attack when they get there<\/em><\/span>. <span style=\"color: #800080;\">So the <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">biggest<\/span><\/em> legal question is:\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>Did<\/em><\/span>\u00a0Rittenhouse <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>defend himself<\/em><\/span> against attack with an appropriate amount of force, or were the people he shot the ones acting in self-defense by trying to disarm him?<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">&#8230;<\/span><strong>Rittenhouse is already a <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">hero to some<\/span><\/em> and a <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">supervillain to others<\/span><\/em>; in <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">that<\/span><\/em> sense, he is the Bernie Goetz of 2020. <span style=\"color: #800080;\">The highest charge against him <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">strikes me as a stretch<\/span><\/em>, but <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">beyond that<\/span><\/em> I don\u2019t have any bold opinions <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">yet<\/span><\/em>.<\/span> The outcome for <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">each shooting<\/span><\/em> will depend on whether Rittenhouse <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">reasonably feared for his life<\/span><\/em>, which in turn might depend on broader context we <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">lack thus far<\/span><\/em> \u2014 and even if <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">all three shootings were justified<\/span><\/em>, there are <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">still<\/span><\/em> firearms and reckless-endangerment charges for him to contend with.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Where the f*** were this kid\u2019s parents<\/span><\/em>?<\/strong><\/span>&#8220;<\/p>\n<p><strong>A fair question which concludes a fair analysis, but one which begs an equally-fair counter: how many parents in America know where <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">their<\/span><\/em> 17-year-olds are <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">24\/7<\/span><\/em>?\u00a0 We confess <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">we<\/span><\/em> didn&#8217;t&#8230;nor did <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">our<\/span><\/em> parents back between November 7, 1972 and July 9, 1973&#8230;the dates marking our 17th birthday and Induction Day for the Class of &#8217;77 at the Naval Academy.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>For additional analysis, we offer as Exhibit
