width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>It bears repeating Joe &#8220;Hiden&#8221; Biden spent much of yesterday commiserating with one Jacob Blake&#8230;the same Jacob Blake who was the subject of a 911 call after showing up at his girlfriend&#8217;s home in violation of a restraining order and taking and refusing to return her car keys&#8230;the same Jacob Blake with an outstanding arrest warrant from July on charges of third-degree\u00a0sexual assault, trespassing, and disorderly conduct in connection with\u00a0domestic abuse (against said girlfriend)&#8230;the same Jacob Blake who, when police tried to arrest him, physically resisted, said he had a knife and then, after being twice tased and repeatedly refusing to comply with calls from officers to &#8220;drop the knife&#8221; and halt, opened the driver&#8217;s door to a vehicle&#8230;in the back seat of which were three of his children&#8230;and reached for something out of the officers&#8217; view.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Shockingly<\/span><\/em>, Blake was shot, primarily because the officer involved wanted to go home that night in a conveyance other than a box.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>A knife was later found on the floor mat beneath the steering wheel.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Meanwhile, all the Dimocratic ticket&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/biden-harris.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-84281\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/biden-harris.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"420\" height=\"358\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/biden-harris.png 420w, https:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/biden-harris-300x256.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 420px) 100vw, 420px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8230;could muster were, as this forward from James Nichols details,\u00a0<em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">fanciful fables<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/36cFpbirjuE?t=12\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; text-decoration: underline;\"><a class=\"icon none\" style=\"color: #0000ff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/what-does-black-lives-matter-mean-11597188691\">Black Lives Matter protesters<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/em>\u00a0held demonstrations in the city\u2019s streets for a second straight day.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">Mr. Prude, a Black man, <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">died in a hospital seven days after<\/span><\/em> a March 23 incident, in which Rochester Police Department officers took him into custody <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">after responding to reports of a person acting erratically<\/span><\/em>, officials and his family said. <\/span>Mr. Prude <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">had a history of mental illness<\/span><\/em>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong>The circumstances surrounding his death only became public after his family held a news conference Wednesday and released officers\u2019 body-camera footage <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">showing them restraining him as they took him into custody<\/span><\/em>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong style=\"color: #0000ff;\">The Monroe County Office of the Medical Examiner has <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">ruled Mr. Prude\u2019s death a homicide<\/span><\/em> and said in an autopsy report that <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">he died of asphyxiation<\/span><\/em> \u201cin the setting of physical restraint\u201d <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">and acute PCP intoxicatio<\/span><\/em>n. <span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">A police report said that \u201cofficers applied a spit sock\u201d to Mr. Prude; <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">he later vomited and became unresponsive<\/span><\/em>.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong style=\"color: #0000ff;\">A spit sock, also called a spit hood, is a restraint device sometimes used by police to prevent someone from biting or spitting. <span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">It is <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">commonly made of mesh<\/span><\/em> and is <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">meant to prevent the spread of disease<\/span><\/em>.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong style=\"color: #0000ff;\">At a news conference Thursday, Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren said she was <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">initially<\/span><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"> told<\/span><\/em> by <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Rochester Police Chief La\u2019Ron Singletary<\/span><\/em> that <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Mr. Prude died of a drug overdose in police custody<\/span><\/em>.\u00a0<\/strong><strong style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">Ms. Warren said <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">she came<\/span><\/em> to a <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">different conclusion<\/span><\/em> about the manner of Mr. Prude\u2019s death when she <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">later viewed video<\/span><\/em> of the incident taken by police.<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>\u201cWhat <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">I<\/span><\/em> saw in that video was <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">a man who needed help<\/span><\/em>,\u201d Ms. Warren said&#8230;<\/strong><\/span>&#8220;<\/p>\n<p><strong>And though, as always, <em>we\u00a0report<\/em>\u00a0and let\u00a0<em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">you decide<\/span><\/em>&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/b4DEFRFoqoU\" width=\"420\" height=\"235\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8230;in this case, we&#8217;re solidly with the Amity Islanders, &#8217;cause&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/D3PcFuLPhG4?start=39&amp;end=43&amp;\" width=\"420\" height=\"235\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>And while the names&#8230;and races&#8230;of the seven suspended officers have yet to be released, what we <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">do know<\/span><\/em> is:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>(1). Lovely Warren, her post-event medical assessment of Mr. Prude&#8217;s condition notwithstanding, has no recorded training or expertise whatsoever in the Hippocratic Arts.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>(2). Like the helpful homeboy in <em>Vacation<\/em>, it could be said of Mr. Prude&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/hwBoa-NbNL8?start=133&amp;end=136&amp;\" width=\"420\" height=\"235\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>&#8230;thus there was <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">no way<\/span><\/em> the Rochester police officers responding to the 911 call from Prude&#8217;s <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">own brother<\/span><\/em> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>could know<\/em><\/span> he had mental issues.\u00a0 IN ALL SERIOUSNESS, <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">IF<\/span><\/em> the POLICE <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">TRULY<\/span><\/em> POSE SUCH A THREAT TO BLACKS, it sorta begs the question <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">why<\/span><\/em> Prude&#8217;s <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">own family<\/span><\/em> didn&#8217;t deal with the situation <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">instead<\/span><\/em> of calling in what, <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">if their own narrative is to be believed<\/span><\/em>, constituted his\u00a0<em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">death sentence<\/span><\/em>?!?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>(3). Like Georg Floyd&#8217;s <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">lethal level<\/span><\/em> of fentanyl and methamphetamine, we&#8217;ve <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">got to conclude<\/span><\/em> Mr. Prude&#8217;s &#8220;<em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">acute PCP intoxication<\/span><\/em>&#8221; played a <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">significant role<\/span><\/em> in his otherwise premature passing.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>(4). text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #ff6600; text-decoration: underline;\">Here\u2019s to the mayors who aren\u2019t confused<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">.<\/span><\/h1>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/4ds5sw.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-85028\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/4ds5sw.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"420\" height=\"236\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/4ds5sw.jpg 420w, https:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/4ds5sw-300x169.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 420px) 100vw, 420px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8220;&#8230;<span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong>Kenosha was back in the news on Thursday. <span style=\"color: #003300;\">But a visit from a high-profile politician <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">may not have advanced the cause of plain English or done much to clarify the issues related to recent violence<\/span><\/em>.<\/span> Caitlin Oprysko\u00a0reports\u00a0for Politico:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><p><span style=\"color: #003300;\"><strong><em>Former Vice President Joe Biden appeared to joke on Thursday that if he spoke any longer about his plan to increase taxes on the wealthy \u201c<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">he\u2019ll shoot me<\/span>,\u201d as he addressed a group of Kenosha, Wis., residents after the police shooting of Jacob Blake.<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><p><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong><em>While explaining to locals in attendance at Grace Lutheran Church how he planned to pay for several of the initiatives aimed at combating racial inequality that he\u2019d outlined moments earlier, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Biden alluded to several people in the audience who appeared to stand up during his remarks or otherwise seemed antsy for the Democratic nominee to wrap up<\/span>.<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #003300;\">Fortunately there are <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">some<\/span><\/em> politicians who have been <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">speaking with clarity<\/span><\/em>.<\/span> Noah Rothman\u00a0<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a class=\"icon none broken_link\" style=\"color: #0000ff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.commentarymagazine.com\/noah-rothman\/the-mayors-whose-names-you-dont-know\/?utm_source=ActiveCampaign&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_content=The%20Mayors%20Whose%20Names%20You%20Don%20t%20Know&amp;utm_campaign=Daily%20newsletter%2009\/03\/20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">writes<\/a><\/span><\/em><\/span>\u00a0in Commentary about the unsung work of mayors across the country this summer who decided not to excuse violent lawlessness. <span style=\"color: #003300;\">Among the examples noted by Mr. Rothman:<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><p><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong><em>Denver Mayor Michael Hancock <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">defined in clear terms the distinction between peaceful, productive protest and intolerable violence<\/span> amid the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">very first signs<\/span> of impending civil disorder. <span style=\"color: #003300;\">Those terms were <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">repeatedly violated<\/span>, and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">clashes between rioters and law enforcement<\/span> in this <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">notoriously<\/span> progressive city <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">have become a common occurrence.<\/span><\/span> The <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">local press<\/span> has <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">focused primarily<\/span> on the police use of tear gas and rubber bullets to disperse violent crowds, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">citing activists<\/span> who accused law enforcement of deploying non-lethal ordnance indiscreetly. <span style=\"color: #003300;\">But the city <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">was and continues to be threatened by an organized menace<\/span>.<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><p><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong><em>\u201cThey <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">had guns<\/span>,\u201d said Denver\u2019s Public Safety Director Murphy Robinson following one late August spasm of violence. <span style=\"color: #003300;\">\u201cThey brought <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">explosives, axes, machetes<\/span>, and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">had one intent purpose<\/span>, and that was <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">to harm our officers<\/span>.\u201d<\/span> Mayor Hancock has been <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">similarly unequivocal<\/span>. <span style=\"color: #003300;\">\u201cWe <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">will not<\/span> be using the words <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">protest or march<\/span>,\u201d he averred.<\/span> \u201c<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">This<\/span> was a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">riot<\/span>.\u201d <span style=\"color: #003300;\">To this threat, the city responded by repealing COVID-related intake caps for local prisons, deploying hundreds of police, and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">dispersing potentially violent demonstration<\/span>s.<\/span> Police <\/em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">were<\/span><em> assaulted and injured. <span style=\"color: #003300;\">Businesses <\/span><\/em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #003300;\">were<\/span><em><span style=\"color: #003300;\"> looted and vandalized.<\/span> Residents <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">were<\/span> terrorized. #ff0000;\">The nation\u2019s premier business lobby this week <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">finalized its decision to help re-elect 23 House Democratic freshmen<\/span><\/em>.<\/span> <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Most of those endorsed<\/span><\/em> spent their first term <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">reliably voting to end U.S. business as we know it<\/span><\/em>. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Of the chamber\u2019s new favorite politicians, <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">20<\/span><\/em> have voted to abolish right-to-work states; <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">18<\/span><\/em> said yes to a $15-an-hour federal minimum wage; and <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">14<\/span><\/em> supported the House\u2019s $3 trillion blowout, styled the Heroes Act\u2014among <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">other<\/span><\/em> votes <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">designed to crush the life out of free markets<\/span><\/em>.<\/span> <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">This<\/span><\/em> from an organization whose tag line reads \u201c<em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Standing Up for American Enterprise<\/span><\/em>.\u201d <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">These days<\/span><\/em> it\u2019s more like \u201c<em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">prostrating ourselves for crumb<\/span><\/em>s.\u201d<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong>The old tag line was more befitting of chamber CEO Tom Donohue, the feisty Irishman who as recently as 2008 led the chamber in a full frontal effort to deny Barack Obama a filibuster-proof Senate majority. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Today\u2019s chamber reflects the growing influence of Suzanne Clark, who replaced Mr. Donohue as president in 2019, and chief policy officer Neil Bradley.<\/span> In their choice between defending free enterprise and making nice on the cocktail circuit, <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">the drinks are winning<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/span>&#8230;&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Though, judging from Ms. Clark&#8217;s photo above, the pastas are a close second!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Perhaps, prior to surrendering to The Mob, the chamber&#8217;s president should have consulted the Boy Scouts to learn how <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">appeasement<\/span><\/em> played out <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">for them<\/span><\/em>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Which brings us,
