“How crazy does the violence have to get before it costs the Harris-Biden campaign the election?<\/span> (Nomenclature update: On Monday, Kamala Harris<\/span>\u00a0referred<\/a><\/em><\/span>\u00a0in public to something she called the \u201cHarris administration.\u201d<\/span> In a speech the next day, Mr. Biden himself<\/span>\u00a0referred<\/a><\/em><\/span><\/span>\u00a0to \u201ca Harris-Biden administration.\u201d<\/span> If that\u2019s how they want it, fine by me. From now on, it\u2019s \u201cthe Harris-Biden campaign.\u201d)<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

For weeks, analysts have been pondering whether the \u201claw and order\u201d issue elevated by President Trump and the Republican convention could have a material effect on voting this fall. Generally, they have minimized<\/span><\/em> the issue.<\/span> But like the hurricanes rolling in from the Atlantic Ocean, the waves of urban violence have apparently become impossible to ignore<\/span><\/em>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

A Monmouth poll\u00a0<\/span>out this week<\/a><\/em><\/span>\u00a0<\/em><\/span>finds 65% of respondents say \u201cmaintaining law and order\u201d is a big problem<\/span><\/em>. The poll\u2019s self-identified party affiliations are 28% Republican, 41% independent and 31% Democratic.<\/span> Here\u2019s the election\u2019s ticking time-bomb: Among \u201cnon-Republican\u201d blacks and other minorities<\/span><\/em>, more than 60% agree<\/span><\/em> that civil disorder has become a big issue<\/span><\/em>, while just 46% of white non-Republicans see it as a problem. Looks like where one lives explains a lot about the Democratic worldview<\/span><\/em>.<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

There\u2019s more bad news at the wrong moment for Harris-Biden: Conclusive evidence<\/span><\/em> has emerged that the American left is certifiably insane<\/span><\/em>.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

After the shooting this week of two cops in Compton, south of Los Angeles, a small contingent of antipolice protesters stood outside a hospital chanting, \u201cWe hope they die!\u201d<\/span> Mr. Biden tweeted<\/span><\/em> criticism of both incidents as \u201cunacceptable\u201d and \u201centirely counterproductive.\u201d<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

We don\u2019t<\/span><\/em> make the left-is-insane charge lightly<\/span><\/em>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Up to now, the conventional liberal\/media\/Democratic story line<\/span><\/em> has been that \u201cmost<\/span><\/em>\u201d of the protesters are peacefully<\/span><\/em> objecting to racism and police practices. But it has become impossible not to see something else<\/span><\/em> that falls between carrying signs and looting stores.<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

It is common practice for these protesters, men and women, to stand inches from the faces of cops, especially black cops, screaming insults and personal obscenities with no letup<\/span><\/em>. This behavior is a phenomenon worth thinking about<\/span><\/em>.<\/span> It wasn\u2019t long ago that everyone but the genuinely insane<\/span><\/em> knew that if you did this to a cop, odds were you would be a) arrested and\/or b) popped with a billy club.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

But these<\/span><\/em> protesters get up into the faces of the police, shrieking, because they know a) they will not<\/span> be arrested<\/span><\/em>, b) if they<\/span> are<\/span><\/em> arrested, they will be released quickly<\/span><\/em>, and c) they will be released because the prosecutors in these cities probably won\u2019t press charges.<\/span> Instead<\/span><\/em>, prosecutors are looking for reasons to cite the police for acts of violence<\/span><\/em>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

This is new\u2014a status quo in which there is\u00a0no fear\u00a0of the police<\/span><\/em> by protesters or common street criminals<\/span><\/em>. A line in the sand has been washed away<\/span><\/em>.<\/span> This condition didn\u2019t happen in the past 100 days. Democratic politics<\/span><\/em> has been building toward precisely<\/span><\/em> this redefinition of law and order for at least 20 years<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/span><\/strong>…”<\/p>\n

Progressives have sown the wind, and America is now reaping the whirlwind.\u00a0 The die has been cast: from now on, violence<\/span><\/em> will be the response to anything with which The Mob objects<\/span><\/em>.<\/strong><\/p>\n
