Covid-19.<\/span><\/em> <span style=\"color: #333399;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Since<\/span><\/em> the Sunday\u00a0<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a class=\"icon none\" style=\"color: #0000ff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/gbdeclaration.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">publication of this \u201cGreat Barrington Declaration<\/a><\/span><\/em><\/span>\u201d\u00a0more than a thousand biological scientists and more than 1,500 medical practitioners have <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">added<\/span><\/em> their names to the petition.<\/span> Yet it\u2019s been almost <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">entirely ignored by the media<\/span><\/em> outlets that spend much of their days presenting themselves as obedient to science.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #333399;\">Maybe this is because the accomplished group of scientists behind the declaration <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">is refusing to obey political narratives<\/span><\/em>.<\/span> According to the petition:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong><em><span style=\"color: #333399;\">Coming from both the left <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">and<\/span> right, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">and<\/span> around the world, we have devoted our careers to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">protecting people<\/span>.<\/span> Current lockdown policies are producing <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">devastating effects on short and long-term public health<\/span>. <span style=\"color: #333399;\">The results (<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">to name a few<\/span>) <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">include<\/span> lower childhood vaccination rates, worsening cardiovascular disease outcomes, fewer cancer screenings and deteriorating mental health \u2013 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">leading to greater excess mortality in years to come, with the working class and younger members of society carrying the heaviest burden<\/span>.<\/span> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Keeping<\/span> students out of school is a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">grave injustice<\/span>.<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>The scientists go on to note that <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">the poor are \u201cdisproportionately harmed<\/span><\/em>\u201d by current policies and that <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">for children<\/span><\/em>, \u201cCOVID-19 is <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">less dangerous than many other harms, including influenza<\/span><\/em>.\u201d <span style=\"color: #333399;\">They add that the best approach \u201c<em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">is to allow those who are at minimal risk of death to live their lives normally to build up immunity to the virus through natural infection, while better protecting those who are at highest risk<\/span><\/em>.<\/span> We call this <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Focused Protection<\/span><\/em>.\u201d\u00a0<span style=\"color: #008000;\">(<em>We call it common sense&#8230;not to mention precisely the way prior pandemics have been combatted&#8230;<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">including<\/span> the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Obama-Biden<\/span> response to the 2009 swine flu.<\/em>)<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #333399;\">This means that those \u201cwho <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">are not vulnerable<\/span><\/em> should <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">immediately be allowed to resume life as normal<\/span><\/em>,\u201d <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">including<\/span><\/em> attending schools, going to restaurants, participating in sports <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">protecting those most at risk<\/span><\/em>. <span style=\"color: #333399;\">According to the scientists:<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>&#8230;<em>nursing homes should use staff <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">with acquired immunity<\/span> and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">perform frequent<\/span> [polymerase chain reaction] <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">testing of other staff<\/span> and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">all visitors<\/span>.<span style=\"color: #333399;\"> Staff rotation should be <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">minimized<\/span>.<\/span> Retired people living at home should have groceries and other essentials <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">delivered to their home<\/span>. <span style=\"color: #333399;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">When possible<\/span>, they should meet family members <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">outside<\/span> rather than <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">inside<\/span>.<\/span> A comprehensive and detailed list of measures, including approaches to multi-generational households, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">can be implemented<\/span>, and is <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">well within the scope and capability of public health professionals<\/span>.<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Imagine<\/span><\/em> if places like New York and New Jersey had followed <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">this<\/span><\/em> plan, instead of squandering vast resources <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">locking down low-risk populations<\/span><\/em> while <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">failing to prioritize the protection of the elderly<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/span>&#8230;&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Imagine if the nation <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">hadn&#8217;t<\/span><\/em> enacted a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/?p=81331\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">lock-down strategy created as part of a high-school science project by a 14-year-old girl in conjunction with a couple government doctors with no training or expertise in immunology or virology<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/a>, a plan universally panned by experts when from additional witnesses.<\/span> Pavlich said this was unprecedented, and contended it was not the Senate\u2019s fault that \u201cthe House did not come with a complete case.\u201d <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Wallace began <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">barking about \u201cfacts\u201d in an attempt to rescue Democrats from the consequences of their failure<\/span><\/em>.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong>Wallace\u2019s dismal performance as moderator in\u00a0Tuesday\u2019s presidential debate\u00a0reminded many viewers of such previous instances in which the\u00a0<em>Fox News Sunday<\/em>\u00a0host <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">has shown his prejudice against Trump<\/span><\/em>. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">And this matters, <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">not only<\/span><\/em> because of how that ugly televised carnival might affect the election, <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">but because of what it tells us about the sad state of journalism in America<\/span><\/em>.<\/span> <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">If<\/span><\/em> Wallace <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">is<\/span><\/em>,\u00a0Dov Fischer says, \u201cthe <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">fairest<\/span><\/em> moderator we can hope for in today\u2019s Left-dominated media,\u201d <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">there is<\/span> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">no hope for fairness<\/span><\/em>. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">But what about those \u201cfacts\u201d that Wallace presumed to lecture Katie Pavlich about?<\/span> <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Even if<\/span><\/em> we must resign ourselves to partisan prejudice from the media, <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">must we tolerate journalists trafficking in outright lies<\/span><\/em>?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">That\u2019s what Wallace did in Tuesday\u2019s debate<\/span><\/em>.<\/span> Consider this question he aimed at President Trump: \u201cYou have repeatedly criticized the vice president for not specifically calling out Antifa and other left-wing extremist groups, but are you willing tonight to condemn white supremacists and militia groups and to say that they need to stand down and not add to the violence in a number of these cities, <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">as we saw in Kenosha and as we\u2019ve seen in Portland<\/span><\/em>?\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Where<\/span><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"> is the evidence<\/span><\/em> that \u201cwhite supremacists and militia groups\u201d were to blame for violence in Kenosha <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">or<\/span><\/em> Portland, Oregon?<\/span> Wallace\u2019s question was <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">not only tendentious<\/span><\/em>, but <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">counterfactual<\/span><\/em>. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">As regards Portland, Wallace seemed to be echoing Oregon\u2019s woefully misguided Democratic governor.<\/span> After a man who <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">described himself<\/span><\/em> as \u201c100% Antifa\u201d <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">murdered a Trump supporter<\/span><\/em> on the streets of Portland Aug.29, Gov.
