the Nice congregation wasn&#8217;t armed.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Which begs the question:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/latest-news\/the-justified-shooting-of-walter-wallace-jr\/?utm_source=actengage&amp;utm_campaign=FreedomMail&amp;utm_medium=email\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">editorial from The Washington Free Beacon notes<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/a>, this was the <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">third time that day<\/span><\/em><\/span> police had visited the Wallace home; (2) Though <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lawenforcementtoday.com\/biden-sends-love-to-family-of-criminal-who-threatened-cops\/\" class=\"broken_link\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Joe Biden found the time to extend his condolences to the Wallace family<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/a>, he was evidently too busy to offer any solace to the two officers Wallace forced to shoot him, let alone the more than 30 officers injured by the subsequent riots; and, (3) No, Tom Wolf, those were <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/Z-0USSB-7vY\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">riots<\/span><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">, NOT peaceful protests<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Next, writing at his\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/the-morning-jolt\/anonymous-falls-flat\/?utm_source=Sailthru&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=MJ_20201029&amp;utm_term=Jolt-Smart\"><em>Morning Jolt<\/em><\/a><\/span>, Jim Geraghty relates how those who initially sought to use The Donald for their own purposes bear ultimate responsibility for his eventual ascension to the Oval Office:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/EZ7DspBU4AUEn-r.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 420px) 100vw, 420px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8220;&#8230;<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Four years ago, we lived through these folks\u2019 greatest miscalculation. <span style=\"color: #808000;\">When Donald Trump appeared on the scene, really running for president this time, the Jeff Zuckers and Phil Griffins of the world thought they could pull off a perfect bait-and-switch: build up Trump during the primary, and then once he had the nomination, stop the soft-focus can-you-believe-this-guy amused tone and shift the focus to Trump\u2019s myriad epic flaws, ensuring Hillary Clinton would win in a landslide. <\/span>But they <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">never expected enough of the electorate would ignore the shift in coverage<\/span><\/em>, and Trump would get <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">just enough votes<\/span><\/em> in <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">just enough states<\/span><\/em> to <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">win<\/span><\/em>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #808000;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Why<\/span><\/em> do the media hammer Trump every day, on issues where he deserves it and issues where it\u2019s kind of silly or irrelevant?<\/span> <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Why<\/span><\/em> did they need to treat the tax cuts, the slaying of Qassim Soleimani, and the Supreme Court nominations of Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett as monstrous crimes? <span style=\"color: #808000;\">Because on some level, they belatedly realized <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">they\u2019re<\/span><\/em> the Dr. Frankensteins who <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">created<\/span><\/em> this monster.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Now<\/span><\/em> major media institutions try to persuade the public that Trump is <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">a racist, ignorant, power-hungry monster<\/span><\/em>. <span style=\"color: #808000;\">But racist monsters <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">don\u2019t<\/span><\/em> get invited to host <em>Saturday Night Live<\/em>, joke around with Jimmy Fallon, get profiled by Barbara Walters, sit and chat with Larry King about every conceivable topic, and call in or hang out with Joe and Mika all the time, to say nothing of hosting a prime-time reality show <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">for years<\/span><\/em>. <\/span>Racist monsters <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">don\u2019t<\/span><\/em> get Bill and Hillary Clinton to attend their wedding. <span style=\"color: #808000;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Why<\/span><\/em> did Americans think Donald Trump was a fascinating, shrewd, decisive, larger-than-life leader when he descended that escalator in 2015?<\/span> <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Because the media and most of America\u2019s economic and political elites treated him as if he was one for about three decades before he ran for president<\/span>.\u00a0<\/em><span style=\"color: #008000;\">(<em>Author&#8217;s emphasis.<\/em>)<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #808000;\">It\u2019s <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">almost comical<\/span><\/em>. <\/span>Almost every time the media try to shoehorn the news into fitting a narrative, <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">it backfires<\/span><\/em>. <span style=\"color: #808000;\">They generate a lot of short-lived, intense flurries of attention for causes such as \u201cabolish ICE\u201d or \u201cMedicare for All\u201d or \u201cabolish the police\u201d or impeaching Trump or \u201c<a style=\"color: #808000;\" href=\"https:\/\/link.nationalreview.com\/click\/21932398.372776\/aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cubmV3c3dlZWsuY29tL2RlbW9jcmF0aWMtcmVwLWNoYWlucy1oaW1zZWxmLW1haWxib3gtdGhleXJlLW5vdC1nZXR0aW5nLXRoaXMtb25lLTE1MjYxODc\/547fd4393b35d0210c8dec30Be6c0527a\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Trump is stealing our mailboxes<\/span><\/em>,<\/a>\u201d but they tend to burn like Roman candles \u2014 <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">brightly but fading quickly<\/span><\/em>.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>When Miles Taylor showed up at the<em> New York Times<\/em>\u2019 metaphorical door, offering an op-ed revealing the existence of \u201cthe Resistance inside the Trump administration,\u201d the editors <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">could have<\/span><\/em> and <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">should have<\/span><\/em> said, \u201cTalk to our news reporters. <span style=\"color: #808000;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">They\u2019ll<\/span><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"> see<\/span><\/em> whether what you\u2019re saying checks out and <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">they\u2019ll decide<\/span><\/em> whether it\u2019s news. <\/span>At first glance, the deputy chief of staff to the DHS secretary being deeply disgruntled by the president\u2019s approach to the job <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">is not, by itself, a huge deal<\/span><\/em>.\u201d <span style=\"color: #008000;\">(<em>Though we&#8217;re strongly inclined to doubt the Times&#8217; reporters&#8217; disposition to take down The Donald would have been any different than its editors.<\/em>)<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #808000;\">But <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">instead<\/span><\/em>, the editors who agreed to work with Taylor saw it as a way to \u201cget\u201d Trump.<\/span> They <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">tweaked the facts<\/span><\/em> to create a <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">more dramatic narrative<\/span><\/em>. <span style=\"color: #808000;\">And putting <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">a narrative over truth in order to \u201cget Trump<\/span><\/em>\u201d&#8230;is ironically, how you <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">get<\/span><\/em> Trump<\/span><\/strong><\/span>&#8230;&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Or, put another way, <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">how<\/span><\/em> we <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">got<\/span><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"> Trump<\/span><\/em>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>And though we found this\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/&lt;iframe width=&quot;560&quot; height=&quot;315&quot; src=&quot;https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Wuul_R-vwhI&quot; frameborder=&quot;0&quot; allow=&quot;accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture&quot; allowfullscreen&gt;&lt;\/iframe&gt;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Tucker Carlson report<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/a>\u00a0suggesting damning evidence of the Bidens&#8217; corruption was mysteriously pilfered from a UPS package perfectly plausible, we found Tucker omitting the fact his people had made copies of the documents somewhat curious, as this would be the <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">first question<\/span><\/em> an <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">inquiring mind would ask<\/span><\/em>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The possibility Tucker&#8217;s team <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">wouldn&#8217;t<\/span><\/em> have made copies, <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">regardless<\/span><\/em> of who was delivering them, brought to mind one of our favorite scenes from <em>Hot Shots<\/em>:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/3JkBKGttM_U?start=25&amp;end=71&amp;\" width=\"420\" height=\"235\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>Meanwhile, despite Tucker now being required to demonstrate,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/townhall.com\/tipsheet\/jeremyfrankel\/2020\/10\/29\/ups-finds-biden-documents-n2579035?utm_source=thdailypm&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=nl&amp;newsletterad=10\/29\/2020&amp;bcid=a58de7758702aef3a5011c8923fe5d50&amp;recip=27269709\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #0000ff;\"><em>whatever they contain, it <\/em><\/span><\/a><\/strong><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #0000ff;\"><em>better be good<\/em><\/span>&#8230;or Tucker will be<a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/story\/2012\/03\/5-geraldo-legendary-incidents-074405\" class=\"broken_link\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"> joining Geraldo<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/a> in the annals of incredibly overhyped\u00a0<b>expos\u00e9s&#8230;.his explanation is less than
