class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>Though unlike John McGinley&#8217;s classic character, to mangle a phrase from the Bard, if <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">we&#8217;re<\/span><\/em> marked to die, we plan on precipitating the passing of as many Progressives to the infernal regions as possible prior to our departure for paradise.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Now, here&#8217;s <em>The Gouge<\/em>!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>First up, during a recent viewing of the opening installment of <em>PBS<\/em>&#8216;s <em>Battlefield<\/em> series on the Vietnam War, we were struck by the disparate treatment accorded the North and South Vietnamese regimes, as exemplified by these three clips:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/n62-l6kYBzA?start=1689&amp;end=1722&amp;\" width=\"420\" height=\"235\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/n62-l6kYBzA?start=2004&amp;end=2080&amp;\" width=\"420\" height=\"235\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>All of which immediately brought to mind one of our favorite movie scenes ever:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/k9DO26O6dIg?start=33&amp;end=84&amp;\" width=\"420\" height=\"235\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>This is not to argue the government of Ngo Dinh Diem and his infamous sister-in-law Madame Nhu&#8230;along with almost\u00a0each one which followed&#8230;wasn&#8217;t both hopelessly corrupt and far from ideal.\u00a0 But <em>PBS<\/em>&#8216;s portrayal of the North Vietnamese Communists as a coalition of disparate patriots united by their love of peace and human rights is indefensibly inaccurate.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>More importantly, it ignores the fact after<em>\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">invading<\/span><\/em> the South&#8230;a existential threat the South never posed to the North&#8230;and successfully reuniting a country initially separated as a result of <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Diem&#8217;s<\/span><\/em> refusal to hold elections, the <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Vietnamese Communists<\/span><\/em> have <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">never<\/span><\/em> allowed <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">free elections<\/span><\/em>, <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">opposition political parties<\/span><\/em> or <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">liberty of any kind<\/span><\/em>&#8230;outside of the freedom to accept Party control over every aspect of one&#8217;s life.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Here&#8217;s a <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/VcQUUU1GQSg\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">moderate view of the fate awaiting those who didn&#8217;t toe the Communist line<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/a>.\u00a0 And this doesn&#8217;t count those who, as in Cuba following <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">another<\/span><\/em> reportedly <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">benign<\/span><\/em> Socialist revolution, were executed outright or chose to risk their lives fleeing the country by sea.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/4D7cPH7DHgA?start=164&amp;end=167&amp;\" width=\"420\" height=\"235\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>Yeah,&#8230;only if you either never learned or were misinformed as to the history of the Vietnam War in the first place.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>And, which is what made us think about the <em>PBS<\/em> series in the first place, about as good a deal as <span style=\"color: #000000;\">Progressives&#8217; push to prioritize distribution of the Wuhan vaccines by race<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-9070555\/Half-states-want-prioritize-black-Hispanic-people-vaccine-rollout.html\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">,<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/a> as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-9070555\/Half-states-want-prioritize-black-Hispanic-people-vaccine-rollout.html\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">this article from the U.K.&#8217;s Daily Mail<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/a> via George Lawlor informs us.\u00a0 Again, what&#8217;s contained in the story <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">isn&#8217;t accurate reporting but political propaganda<\/span><\/em>, for <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">nowhere<\/span><\/em> in this rather lengthy account replete with numerous numbers, graphs, charts and statistics does it mention the <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">actual<\/span><\/em> reason COVID-19 has killed a greater proportion of Blacks than Whites: Namely, the <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">significantly<\/span><\/em> higher obesity rate among American Blacks&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/non-hispanic-white-adults-by-state-2011-13.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-88465\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/non-hispanic-white-adults-by-state-2011-13.png\" Why?\u00a0 Because <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">highlighting<\/span><\/em> what\u00a0<em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">essentially<\/span><\/em> amounts to a <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">lifestyle choice<\/span><\/em> would be <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">judgmental and racist<\/span><\/em>&#8230;as well as tantamount to political suicide.\u00a0 So <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">to hell with the truth<\/span><\/em>, and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>long live the COVID cover-up<\/em><\/span>!!!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Since we&#8217;re on the subject of The Left&#8217;s love affair with the twin tenets of totalitarianism and disinformation, here are a couple wrong the first time<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/a>\u00a0have somehow managed to <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">belatedly get it right<\/span><\/em>&#8230;\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p underline;\">meaningfully limited<\/span><\/em> the spread of the virus, their decidedly destructive impacts have <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">certainly<\/span><\/em> proved materially and adversely detrimental to the mental <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">and<\/span><\/em> physical health of those subjected to them.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Here&#8217;s the juice: This stopped being about <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">protection<\/span><\/em> a long,\u00a0<em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">long<\/span><\/em>\u00a0time ago; now it&#8217;s <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">all about control<\/span><\/em>!!!\u00a0 And if you think the passing of this manufactured emergency spells the last time Progressives will try to frighten the public into granting them unconstitutional powers, we call your attention to this scene from <em>Dirty must be Blue Dress Proof.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>For a damaging story about a Republican to be true, nothing has to be true at all. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Third-hand hearsay about hookers and pee, a smile on a face, or a sarcastic tweet or phrase taken out of context can make even the most absurd conclusion be portrayed as fact and conveyed as truth in perpetuity.<\/span> If the bad guy is a Republican, <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">no proof is needed<\/span><\/em>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/bbb-12.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter smackers<\/a><\/span><\/em>)<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">, Russian oligarch\u2013payoff taking, crack pipe\u2013smoking, naked-picture havin\u2019 Democrat has been given every benefit of the doubt.<\/span> The media and technology companies forbade mentioning the story before the election.<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"> <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">No one<\/span><\/em> who watched CNN or NBC or MSNBC or read the\u00a0<em>New York Times<\/em>\u00a0or the\u00a0<em>Washington Post<\/em>\u00a0<em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">knew about the story<\/span><\/em>.<\/span> Those on Twitter whose tweets weren\u2019t throttled or blocked outright were called names by the media. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">The story, <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">which had witnesses, corroboration, and evidence<\/span><\/em>, was deemed a conspiracy theory.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/trevor-1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-88438\" 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #333399;\">&#8220;This Veteran put his life on the line for our country,&#8221; Haaland\u00a0<em><span style=\"text-decoration: students.<\/span> &#8220;The students&#8217; display of blatant hate, disrespect, and intolerance is a signal of how common decency has decayed under this group of MAGA hat-wearing teens.&#8221;<\/strong><\/span>&#8230;&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Except<\/span><\/em>, as you&#8217;ll recall, Nathan Phillips <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">never served<\/span><\/em> in Vietnam, <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">neither was he harassed nor mocked<\/span><\/em> by the Covington attending college in California, anyone having a major medical procedure at a California hospital and needing an extended in-state recovery period, and those who spend two months in California away from New York or London winters.<\/span> Under California tax law, there is no distinction between a nonresident from Minnesota and a nonresident from Dubai.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">Assembly Bill 2088 proposes <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">calculating<\/span><\/em> the wealth tax based on <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">current world-wide net worth each Dec. 31<\/span><\/em>.<\/span> For part-year and temporary residents, the tax would be proportionate based on their number of days in California. <span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">The annual tax would be on current net worth and therefore would include wealth earned, inherited or obtained through gifts or estates <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">long before and long after leaving the state<\/span><\/em>.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong>The proposed wealth tax would fall on a star high-school or college athlete who grows up in California but becomes a wealthy professional <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">in another state after graduation<\/span><\/em>. <span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">It would grab a scientist who develops a drug to cure cancer <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">years after leaving California<\/span><\/em>.<\/span> A grandchild <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">who spent a single summer surfing<\/span><\/em> in Southern California would be subject to the tax. <span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">It would include <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">anyone returning home to a foreign country<\/span><\/em> after 60 days in California.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span #ff6600;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">Everything is based on anecdotes or soft data, such as the results of insipid surveys she sent out asking Delaware Tech students whether they agreed with her ideas.<\/span> Surprise! <span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">Students would like a student center to be built.<\/span> But <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">so what<\/span><\/em>? <span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">Wouldn\u2019t students say yes to <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">any<\/span><\/em> proposed amenity?<\/span> Students would likely say yes to a new screening room, tennis court, or fro-yo lounge, <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">but that doesn\u2019t mean these would be wise uses of the institution\u2019s money<\/span><\/em>. <span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">How much<\/span><\/em> would a student center <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">cost<\/span><\/em>?<\/span> Biden <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">doesn\u2019t say<\/span><\/em>. <span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">Would the <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">benefit<\/span><\/em> be <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>worth<\/em><\/span> the cost?<\/span> Biden <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>is silent<\/em><\/span> on the question. <span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">Even <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">if<\/span> <\/em>a student center <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">were<\/span><\/em> worth the cost, worthwhile<\/span><\/em>?<\/span> The question <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">never crosses Biden\u2019s mind<\/span><\/em>. <span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">Biden simply proceeds from the assumption that the world is a place of unlimited resources for things <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">she wants<\/span><\/em>.<\/span> <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Whatever<\/span><\/em> additional time, money, and effort are required <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">will magically appear<\/span><\/em>. <span style=\"color:
