mind a Christmas story of a rather different variety.\u00a0 And therein hangs our tale:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/UOqtn4DZerA?start=0&amp;end=17&amp;\" width=\"420\" height=\"235\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>A long time ago, at a Naval Air Station far, far away&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/siwpn14IE7E?start=0&amp;end=17&amp;\" width=\"420\" height=\"235\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8230;there existed the&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Baranek-5a.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-88546\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Baranek-5a.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" Aviation at the time, the men of <em>Top Gun<\/em> hit upon the ideal format for commemorating their particular spirit of the Season, selecting a card which read:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/image001-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-88533\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/image001-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"302\" height=\"420\" style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">surprise<\/span><\/em> was <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>inside<\/em><\/span>:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/image002.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-88534\" underline;\">everyone<\/span><\/em> up the chain of command&#8230;most especially a certain influential admiral&#8217;s <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">wife<\/span><\/em>&#8230;appreciated what every red-blooded Naval Aviator and NFO found <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">hilariously<\/span><\/em> funny.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>So endeth <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">this<\/span><\/em> Christmas story.\u00a0 And while no one&#8217;s career was <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">permanently<\/span><\/em>\u00a0impacted by the ensuing brouhaha, Heaven help anyone foolish enough to attempt such humor in our current climate poisoned by political-correctness.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Now, here&#8217;s <em>The Gouge<\/em>!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>We lead off the mid-week edition with two items well worth that\u00a0most precious width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><strong><em>\u201c<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Immediately<\/span>, starting in the new year, Congress will need to get to work on support for <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">our<\/span> COVID-19 plan, for support to struggling families, and investments in jobs and economic recovery.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>The economy is <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">awash<\/span><\/em> in money; politicians just need to let people <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">use it<\/span><\/em>.<span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"> <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Americans suffering economically<\/span><\/em> are <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">suffering from shutdowns<\/span><\/em>, which <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">never worked as intended<\/span><\/em>, <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">inflicted enormous collateral damage<\/span><\/em> and are <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">now becoming untenable with the arrival of vaccines<\/span><\/em>.<\/span> <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Washington\u2019s work is over<\/span><\/em>.<\/strong><\/span>&#8220;<\/p>\n<p><strong>And for those interested, writing at <em>NRO<\/em>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/2020\/12\/why-trumps-election-fraud-lawsuits-flopped\/?utm_source=Sailthru&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=MJ_20201221&amp;utm_term=Jolt-Smart\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">John Fund presents an excellent analysis of why Trump&#8217;s election lawsuits failed<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/a>, concluding:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8220;&#8230;<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Abuses, incompetence, and, yes, alleged fraud made the 2020 election suspect.<span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"> Too bad Trump <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">exaggerated<\/span><\/em> his claims, <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">failed to address<\/span><\/em> some of the election\u2019s ticking time bombs in court\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>before<\/em><\/span>\u00a0the election, and took on lawyers <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">unsuited to the task<\/span><\/em>.<\/span> <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Those<\/span><\/em> errors, <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">plus<\/span><\/em> the fact that <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">the media and courts often didn\u2019t do their jobs<\/span><\/em>, doomed his effort.<\/strong><\/span>&#8220;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Since Fund raised the subject of a media not doing its job, courtesy of\u00a0<em>The Hill<\/em>\u00a0via James Nichols, Joe Concha details how, in keeping with its non-coverage of the Biden family corruption scandal&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<h1 id=\"page-title\" class=\"title\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/opinion\/national-security\/530640-for-ny-times-no-news-is-fit-to-print-about-rep-swalwell-and-a-spy\" class=\"broken_link\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #ff9900; text-decoration: underline;\">For The NY Times, no news is fit to print about Rep. Swalwell and a spy<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/h1>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/aaa-21.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-88538\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/aaa-21.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"420\" height=\"399\" broadcast network evening news and considers that your news diet, there&#8217;s a very good chance you\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #0000ff;\"><em><a style=\"color: #0000ff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/media\/new-york-times-eric-swalwell-chinese-spy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" class=\"broken_link\">haven&#8217;t heard<\/a><\/em><\/span>\u00a0about Rep.\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><span class=\"rollover-people\" data-behavior=\"rolloverpeople\">Eric Swalwell<\/span><\/span>\u00a0(D-Calif.) and his ties to an accused Chinese spy a few years ago.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #800080;\">To review why this is absolutely worthy of coverage, Swalwell\u2019s interaction with the alleged spy known as Fang Fang included,\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #0000ff;\"><em><a style=\"color: #0000ff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/china-spy-california-politicians-9d2dfb99-f839-4e00-8bd8-59dec0daf589.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" class=\"broken_link\">according to Axios<\/a><\/em><\/span>, Fang placing an intern in Swalwell&#8217;s office and helping to fundraise for his 2014 reelection campaign.<\/span> In 2015, the FBI provided Swalwell a &#8220;defensive briefing&#8221; to warn him of the threat she appeared to pose.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>So, the first obvious question is this: Given <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">how easily<\/span><\/em> Swalwell was duped, <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">why<\/span><\/em> did House Speaker\u00a0<span class=\"rollover-people\" data-behavior=\"rolloverpeople\">Nancy Pelosi<\/span>\u00a0(D-Calif.) <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">shortly thereafter<\/span><\/em> place him on the House Intelligence Committee, which <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">oversees the CIA<\/span><\/em> and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>therefore has access to the highest level of sensitive, classified\u00a0information<\/em><\/span>?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><strong>The New York Times <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">doesn&#8217;t seem to care<\/span><\/em> about getting an answer to that question.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #800080;\">Of the biases we see in major media, the sin of omission is one that seems to occur\u00a0only when the protagonist\u00a0of a major story has a (D) next to his or her name.<\/span> So, when the New York Times, which has a <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">whopping 7 million subscribers<\/span><\/em> and is considered the country&#8217;s <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">most influential publication<\/span><\/em>, <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">doesn&#8217;t see<\/span><\/em> the Swalwell story <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">as a story at all<\/span><\/em>, <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">it tells you just as much about its moral compass as it does its editorial decisions<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/span>&#8230;&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Which <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">ain&#8217;t much<\/span><\/em> in either\u00a0instance.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Next, some disappointing but unsurprising news, as the\u00a0<em>WSJ<\/em>\u00a0relates&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<h1 class=\"wsj-article-headline\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/barr-says-he-won-t-appoint-special-counsel-to-probe-hunter-biden-vote-fraud-11608567231?mod=djemalertNEWS\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #800080; text-decoration: underline;\">Barr Won&#8217;t Appoint Special Counsel to Probe Hunter Biden, Vote Fraud<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/h1>\n<h3 class=\"sub-head\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><a style=\"color: #ff6600;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/barr-says-he-won-t-appoint-special-counsel-to-probe-hunter-biden-vote-fraud-11608567231?mod=djemalertNEWS\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Attorney general says he believes the investigation into President-elect Joe Biden\u2019s son is \u2018being handled responsibly and professionally<\/span><\/a>\u2019<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/4r78rl.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-88551\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/4r78rl.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"420\" height=\"245\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/4r78rl.jpg 420w, https:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/4r78rl-300x175.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 420px) 100vw, 420px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Seriously?!?\u00a0 Even <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">were<\/span><\/em>\u00a0any probes into the Biden family&#8217;s corruption &#8220;being handled responsibly and professionally&#8221; <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">today<\/span><\/em>, Barr certainly understands said handling would continue only until January 20th, when any <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">further<\/span><\/em> investigations&#8230;be they responsible, professional or of the Russia-collusion style&#8230;will be quietly and permanently terminated, and Hunter will walk.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Then again, assuming he&#8217;s not somehow setting up the appointment of a special counsel by his short-term successor, Barr&#8217;s decision is in keeping with the treatment afforded <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">every other Biden<\/span><\/em>, as this item from the <em>New York Post<\/em> details:<\/strong><\/p>\n<h1 class=\"postid-16844283\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/4r796g.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-88552\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/4r796g.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"420\" height=\"279\"
