the Left inevitable over the next two years, the public should become acquainted with the Left\u2019s strange language of Wokespeak. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>Failure to do so could result in job termination and career cancellation<\/em><\/span>.<\/span> It is certainly a fluid tongue. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Words often change their meanings as the political context demands.<\/span> And what was yesterday\u2019s orthodoxy is today\u2019s heterodoxy and tomorrow\u2019s heresy. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">So here is some of the vocabulary of the woke lexicon.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><span class=\"small_caps\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">&#8230;<\/span><\/span><strong><span class=\"small_caps\">\u201cSystemic racism.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">\u201cSystemic\u201d belongs to this newer family of <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">intensifying adjectival epithets<\/span><\/em> (e.g., \u201cmicro,\u201d \u201cimplicit,\u201d etc.) that are <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">necessary to posit a pathology that otherwise is hard to see, hear, or experience<\/span><\/em>.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><strong>When one cannot point to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>actual<\/em><\/span> evidence of \u201cracism,\u201d one can simply say that it is nowhere <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">precisely because it is everywhere<\/span><\/em> \u2014 sort of like the air we breathe that we count on, but often can\u2019t see or feel.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><span class=\"small_caps\">\u201cTheme house.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Theme houses are university dorms or sponsored off-campus student housing <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>segregated by race<\/em><\/span>. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">\u201cTheme\u201d is a <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">useful euphemism for segregation<\/span><\/em>, given that in theory there can be dorms for those of all races who share musical, artistic, or scholarly interests \u2014 or \u201cthemes,\u201d e.g., an opera dorm or History House.<\/span> But, in fact, \u201ctheme\u201d today refers usually to <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">race, gender, and ethnicity<\/span><\/em>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">In Wokespeak, <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">everyone<\/span><\/em> is <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">for theme houses<\/span><\/em>; <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>no one<\/em><\/span> is <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>for racially desegregating them<\/em><\/span>.<\/span> Being <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">against<\/span><\/em> the racial segregation of college dorms <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">can become racist<\/span><\/em>; being <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>for them<\/em><\/span> is <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">never racist<\/span><\/em>. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Picking a future college roommate on the basis of race <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">can<\/span><\/em> be allowed \u2014 <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">if<\/span><\/em> neither the selector nor the selected is <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>so-called \u201cwhite<\/em><\/span>.\u201d<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><span class=\"small_caps\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">&#8230;<\/span><\/span><strong><span class=\"small_caps\">\u201cUnearned white privilege\u201d<\/span>\u2014 as opposed to mere \u201cwhite privilege.\u201d <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">The intensifier \u201cunearned\u201d is usually an added-on confessional <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">by middle-aged white people in administrative or elite professional and coveted billets who wish to express their utmost penance for their high salaries, titles, and influence<\/span><\/em>.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><strong>\u201c<em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Unearned<\/span><\/em>,\u201d however, is\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>not<\/em><\/span>\u00a0to be confused with \u201c<em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">undeserved<\/span><\/em>.\u201d <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Instead, it suggests <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">certain white elites who wish to publicly confess their guilt for doing so well but without having to resign and to give back what they admittedly claim they did not earn<\/span><\/em>.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><strong>Thus a <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">college president<\/span><\/em> is allowed to confess to having enjoyed \u201c<em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">unearned<\/span><\/em>\u201d white privilege that <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">nonetheless does not mean<\/span><\/em> his present position is \u201c<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>undeserved<\/em><\/span>.<\/strong><\/span>\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>In sum, despite the fact that he was <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">unfairly<\/span><\/em> catapulted into the presidency, the college president\u2019s manifest genius displayed\u00a0<em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">after<\/span>\u00a0<\/em>obtaining the job means he is <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">now woke<\/span><\/em> and clearly deserves to <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">remain<\/span><\/em> in the post. <span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">In other words, what <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">explicit \u201cunearned<\/span><\/em>\u201d was <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">then<\/span><\/em>, <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">implicit \u201cdeserved<\/span><\/em>\u201d
