#808000;\">Those members of Congress who incited the violent crowd.<\/span>\u00a0Those members of Congress that attempted to help our president undermine our democracy, I&#8217;m going see that <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">they&#8217;re held accountable<\/span><\/em>,&#8221; Sherrill\u00a0said.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #808000;\">The congresswoman <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">didn&#8217;t name<\/span><\/em> any of the lawmakers, or offer additional details into <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">what qualified their actions to be &#8220;reconnaissance<\/span><\/em>.&#8221;<\/span> It&#8217;s not clear <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">how<\/span><\/em> she determined that the &#8220;reconnaissance&#8221; <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">was connected to the riots the following day<\/span><\/em>, according to Politico.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #808000;\"><strong>Her office did not immediately respond to an after-hours email from Fox News<\/strong><\/span>&#8230;&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>No doubt the Congresswoman&#8217;s proof is about as damning as Adam Schiff&#8217;s non-existent evidence of Trump&#8217;s collusion with Russia.\u00a0 Then again, maybe it&#8217;s in <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_Mystery_of_Al_Capone%27s_Vaults\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Al Capone&#8217;s vault<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Now, here&#8217;s <em>The Gouge<\/em>!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>First up, a <em><span intelligence that is politicized.<\/span>\u00a0Politicized military is the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">last thing<\/span> America needs. <span style=\"color: #333399;\">Defense\u00a0&#8220;<\/span><\/em><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><em>nomenklatura&#8217;\u00a0clearly are trying to make\u00a0sure that they remain &#8220;hirable&#8221; by the\u00a0Beltway Bandits, after they retire from their cushy\u00a0government jobs.<\/em><\/span><\/strong><\/span>&#8220;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/billflax\/2012\/10\/18\/benghazi-four-americans-died-obama-lied-and-the-press-complied\/?sh=17e15086225c\" class=\"broken_link\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Sacrificed four Americans in Benghazi (Tyrone Woods, Glen Doherty, Chris Stevens and Sean Smith) to maintain the illusion of a successful foreign policy immediately PRIOR TO to the 2012 election<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/a>&#8230;<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">promised the leader of one of America&#8217;s most implacable foes more flexibility AFTER said 2012 election<\/span><\/em><\/span>&#8230;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/news\/fast-and-furious-gunman-sentenced-to-life-for-2010-killing-of-border-patrol-agent\/\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">sold the gun to a Mexican drug cartel that killed Border Patrol agent Brian Terry<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/a>&#8230;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/u-s-sent-cash-to-iran-as-americans-were-freed-1470181874\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #0000ff;\"><em>secretly sent pallets of cash to Iran<\/em><\/span><\/a>&#8230;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.vox.com\/policy-and-politics\/2016\/11\/14\/13577464\/obama-farewell-speech-torture-drones-nsa-surveillance-trump\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">executed Americans without benefit of trial or any due process<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/a>&#8230;<a href=\"https:\/\/epochtimes.today\/attorney-general-says-new-strzok-notes-described-obama-white-house-meeting\/\" class=\"broken_link\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">and engineered what amounted to an attempted coup against its duly-elected successor<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>For that matter, we can&#8217;t recall them expressing the least amount of concern when a <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">mob<\/span><\/em> outside the <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">White House<\/span><\/em>, angered over a Black career criminal in Minneapolis offing himself with an overdose of fentanyl, grew <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">so<\/span><\/em> violent and threatening, for the first time in history\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/a2326518da6b25b4509bef1ec85f5d7f\" class=\"broken_link\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">the Secret Service felt it necessary to move the President to an underground bunker normally reserved for a terrorist attack<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Here&#8217;s the juice: Such a letter isn&#8217;t indicative of military leaders deserving of respect, but rather repugnant political animals worthy only of contempt.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>A couple other quick comments on the subject:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>(1) <a href=\"https:\/\/justthenews.com\/government\/congress\/three-critical-questions-about-capitol-siege-remain-unanswered\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Reports continue to percolate<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/a>, including at <em>CNN<\/em>, suggesting those who attacked the Capitol pre-planned their assault, which would mean Trump <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">couldn&#8217;t possibly be responsible<\/span><\/em> for inciting them to violence.\u00a0 Add to that the fact &#8220;the official timeline of events constructed by the New York Times through videos shows\u00a0<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/interactive\/2021\/01\/12\/us\/capitol-mob-timeline.html\" class=\"broken_link\">protesters began breaching the perimeter of the Capitol a full 20 minutes before Trump finished his speech<\/a><\/span><\/em><\/span>&#8221; and it appears the latest charges levied against The Donald are as&#8230;<em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">trumped up<\/span><\/em>&#8230;as all the others.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>(2) A close friend who was on the mall between the White House and the Washington Monument said even given their proximity to Trump, they couldn&#8217;t understand a word he was saying.\u00a0 Which begs the question how anyone immediately in front of the Capitol could be incited to violence by the words of a speaker they could not possibly hear.\u00a0 And <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">please<\/span><\/em>, don&#8217;t tell us they were they all listening to Trump&#8217;s speech on their cell phones.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Though to be fair, <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">as the Journal&#8217;s Kim Strassel notes<\/span><\/em><\/span>, the recent actions of Corporate America prove the Pentagon isn&#8217;t the only source of craven, profit-seeking, PC-inspired cowardice.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Speaking of political animals willing to sacrifice anyone or anything in their relentless pursuit of personal power and wealth, are we the only one&#8230;besides Balls Cotton and <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/shipwreckedcrew\/status\/1349836047912370176\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">ShipWreckedCrew<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/a>&#8230;who finds it more than curious, <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">now<\/span><\/em>, in the <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">midst<\/span><\/em> of the cold and flu season&#8230;not to mention the supposed <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">height<\/span><\/em> of the pandemic&#8230;it&#8217;s <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">suddenly okay to dine indoors in New York and Chicago<\/span><\/em>?!?\u00a0 It <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">can&#8217;t<\/span><\/em> have anything to do with Trump leaving office next Tuesday.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Here&#8217;s <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">some more<\/span><\/em> of the juice: Cuomo, de Blasio and Lightfoot\u00a0<em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">all<\/span><\/em>\u00a0deserve to be&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/run-out-of-town.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-89364\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/run-out-of-town.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"420\" height=\"250\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 420px) 100vw, 420px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>For those who&#8217;ve misplaced their spectacles, that&#8217;s tarred, feathered and run out of town on a rail!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Next, writing at\u00a0<em>City Journal<\/em>, William Voegeli offers an honest assessment&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<h1 class=\"title\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.city-journal.org\/about-whataboutism-and-political-hypocrisy\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #333399; text-decoration: underline;\">About \u201cWhataboutism<\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #333399;\">\u201d<\/span><\/h1>\n<h3 style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.city-journal.org\/about-whataboutism-and-political-hypocrisy\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span class=\"subtitle\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000; text-decoration: underline;\">When turnabout is never fair play<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/nancy.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-89339\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/nancy.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"420\" height=\"119\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/nancy.png 420w, https:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/nancy-300x85.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 420px) 100vw, 420px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8220;<span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong>Many things are complicated\u2014but not everything. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">If<\/span><\/em> you condemned the Antifa\/Black Lives Matter violence that took place around the country in 2020, as all conservatives did, then you <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">must<\/span><\/em> condemn the Trumpist <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">riot<\/span><\/em> at the U.S. Capitol in 2021.<\/span> <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Period<\/span><\/em>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Suppose, however, you spent last summer applauding the riots, or dissembling about them, or dismissing them.<\/span> In that case, to deplore last week\u2019s violence credibly is not so simple. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">If you demand that your political adversaries adhere to a principle, but exempt people whose cause you endorse from having to comply, then that preference you enjoy boasting about is not really a principle.<\/span> It is not a standard of conduct applicable to all, in other words, but just another rhetorical device used for political combat.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">If you\u2019re Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, for example, a question in July about mobs toppling statues in public spaces\u00a0elicited\u00a0not a denunciation but a koan: \u201cPeople will do what they do.\u201d<\/span> Indeed, people will do what they do. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Some people, for example, will break into the Capitol and occupy the Speaker\u2019s office.<\/span> But limiting oneself to the serene observation that this is what they do would constitute a grave failure to repudiate an offense against law, order, and democracy.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Nikole Hannah-Jones, who won a Pulitzer Prize for creating the\u00a0<i>New York Times<\/i>\u2019s \u201c1619 Project,\u201d also expressed equanimity and even pride regarding last year\u2019s unrest.<\/span> \u201cIt would be an honor,\u201d she\u00a0said, if the burning police stations and looted stores came to be described as the \u201c1619 Riots.\u201d <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">In any case, \u201cDestroying property, which can be replaced, is not violence.\u201d<\/span> Hannah-Jones went on to\u00a0explain, \u201cAny reasonable person would say we shouldn\u2019t be destroying other people\u2019s property, but these are not reasonable times.\u201d <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Reasonable people also say that mobs should not overrun the seat of government or be gratified if someone calls that assault the \u201c1776 Riots.\u201d<\/span> But if declaring \u201cthese are not reasonable times\u201d changes everything, then the loophole devours the rule, or even <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">the idea of having rules<\/span><\/em>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">When protesters surrounded a Seattle police station, forcing officers to evacuate it, and declared the adjacent area an military, restored American jobs, and bringing unparalleled improvement to every metric of the lives of minorities and the working class.<\/span> And when the going got tough when a pandemic hit, it was digitally-inserted Hillary who bravely and presciently shut down our nation&#8217;s borders and instituted a vaccine-development program which would produce successful results on a timetable that
