It’s Wednesday, February 10th, 2021…but before beginning, in honor of the great Thomas Sowell, we offer three random thoughts on the passing scene.<\/strong><\/p>\n

First, the recent headline regarding the apprehension of 11 Iranian nationals illegally entering the country at the Yuma border crossing<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/a>\u00a0featured in the February 8th edition of The Gouge<\/em> brought to mind one of the cardinal sins The Donald committed as President, both prior to and after the election: Namely, his use of unverifiable claims versus vague, unchallengeable generalities.\u00a0 To wit:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Counterterrorism official contradicts Trump: No sign ISIS or \u2018Sunni terrorist groups\u2019 are in caravan<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/h1>\n

“For days, as migrants have traveled thousands of miles toward the US-Mexico border, President Donald Trump has warned of the dangerous people who make up their pack.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

He\u2019s tweeted that \u201c[c]riminals and unknown Middle Easterners<\/span>\u201d are<\/span><\/span> \u201cmixed\u201d in with the caravan<\/span><\/em>, and, on Monday afternoon, doubled down on his claims, telling reporters on the South Lawn of the White House to \u201cgo into the middle\u201d of the caravan and \u201csearch<\/span><\/em>.<\/span> You\u2019re gonna<\/em><\/span> find MS-13. You\u2019re gonna<\/em><\/span> find Middle Eastern.\u201d<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

While the President insinuates terrorists have infiltrated the group that CNN crews have observed to include mostly mothers and their children, a senior counterterrorism official has also refuted<\/span><\/em> the President\u2019s claim. \u201cWhile we acknowledge<\/span> there are vulnerabilities<\/span><\/span> at<\/span> both<\/span><\/span> our northern<\/span> and<\/span><\/span> southern border<\/span><\/em>, we do not see any<\/span><\/em><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/em>evidence<\/em> that ISIS or other Sunni<\/span><\/em> terrorist groups (Not that the anonymous<\/span> senior counterterrorism official would obfuscate the issue…wink, wink…but\u00a0Iran, the greatest promoter of terror around the globe<\/span>, isn’t<\/span> Sunni, it’s Shi’ite<\/span>!<\/em>)<\/span>\u00a0are trying<\/em><\/span> to infiltrate the southern US border,\u201d a senior counterterrorism official told CNN<\/span><\/strong><\/span>…”<\/p>\n

Sure, CNN<\/em>, MSDNC<\/em> and every minor cable network would spin anything<\/span><\/em> Trump tweeted, but we’d still have used words to the effect no reasonable<\/span><\/em> person wouldn’t<\/span><\/em> be concerned such an unvetted, uncontrolled mass of humanity…<\/strong><\/p>\n

…might<\/span><\/em> be used as a cover by those who mean us harm.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Same with The Steal: rather than claiming the voting was rigged and the election stolen (after all, that’s what the multiple lawsuits were filed to prove), we’d have emphasized our efforts were only to protect the integrity of the process, and to ensure every valid vote was counted, while any illegal ballots were disallowed.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Words The Donald would be wise to heed if he plans on running again (Heaven forbid<\/span>!!!<\/em>) in 2024.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Second, Kim Strassel had another excellent commentary at the Journal<\/em> last Friday, suggesting\u00a0the GOP\u2019s first 2021 victory was preventing the ousting of Liz Cheney, which would have reinforced the Democrats\u2019 nasty caricature of the Republican party<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/a>.\u00a0 We thought this cartoon from Rich Terrell accurately depicts how the good citizens of Wyoming can sort Cheney out sans the assistance of House Republicans:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Third, after watching this video, you’ll know how the Washington establishment felt…<\/strong><\/p>\n
