could take the rare step of rotating power outages statewide as early as Sunday night and will do so Monday and Tuesday, if demand outpaces supply as expected because of the bitter cold, officials said Sunday afternoon.<span id=\"ds_title\" class=\"ds_title\"><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">The Electric Reliability Council of Texas, which operates\u00a0the state\u2019s power grid, emphasized Texans should reduce energy consumption as temperatures dropped.<\/span> The grid could reach unprecedented winter level demands, said Dan Woodfin, ERCOT\u2019s senior director of system operations.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Demand is <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">one<\/span><\/em> of the issues facing the power grid, but the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>cold<\/em><\/span> is causing other problems, too.<\/span> Electric generators are vying for natural gas as people turn to that fuel for heating. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Icy conditions <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">also knocked out almost half of the state\u2019s wind power generation capacity as wind turbines froze across the state<\/span><\/em>, Goodfin added.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>\u201cDue to this high demand and reduced resource availability\u2026we could be in emergency operations as early as tonight and we would expect to be in emergency operations tomorrow through at least Tuesday morning,\u201d Woodfin said<\/strong><\/span>&#8230;&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Granted<\/span><\/em>, given the photo above, <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">were<\/span><\/em> we a Texican (we\u00a0<em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">wish<\/span><\/em>!), we&#8217;d <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">have<\/span><\/em> to confess&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>as recently as 2011<\/em><\/span>.\u00a0 But Texas is one of the few states in the Union which is&#8230;or SHOULD be&#8230;energy independent owing to its huge reserves of fossil fuels.\u00a0 Yet the powers-that-be have somehow limited generating capacity and made the Lone Star state dependent upon the vagaries of renewable energy sources.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Further proof, as if any were needed, Ronaldus Maximus was <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">dead-on, balls accurate<\/span><\/em> in his observation government <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">isn&#8217;t the solution<\/span><\/em>, government <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>is the numb to the left-wing outrage machine<\/em><\/span>. <span style=\"color: #333399;\">With this second impeachment, AFTER Trump has left office, I\u2019ve <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>lost all interest<\/em><\/span> in not only what Democrats are whining about now, but in <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">anything and everything Democrats do, say, or want<\/span><\/em>.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Watching the opening arguments over whether or not the Senate has any constitutional power to hold an impeachment trial of a former president, I was <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">overwhelmed<\/span><\/em> with a <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">sincere sense of not giving a damn<\/span><\/em>. <span style=\"color: #333399;\">I was as disgusted as anyone by the events of January 6th; I worked in that building and absolutely love it.<\/span> I still get the same chills I got seeing the Capitol Dome in the distance I got when I started working in D.C. back in 2001, and am of the firm belief that if anyone loses that sense of
